When this coalition first emerged, we were expecting another unproductive 4 years as the centre-left and right seemingly had no common ground. What we got is a new budget, with Istalia experiencing a surplus for the first time in decades and a package of federal reforms proposed by the MFI which in the majority of cases has been successful thanks to the other coalition members' support. We have indeed voted against these reforms as they have removed many benevolent capitalist policies for which we have fought for. However, it has also removed many excessively bureaucratic leftist policies which have been inhibiting on the freedom of people in the regions. This has given us much more leverage in Padagna and Mezzodiurno, which allowed us to fulfill our campaign promises at least in those two regions, as the whole country has been taken from us. Hence, we are not complaining and I have even issued a statement in Parliament which establishes the AI's support for a Federal Constitutional Reform which woulf establish the Federal Republic of Istalia.
I remember the PNP, together with the ULD, at one point attempted such an affair, but they were halted in their tracks by the voters. I wonder if now the tides have turned. We are calling upon the government, specifically the MFI, to propose such a reform which we would gladly support.
I made those statements, not for any reason that certain people stat, but just because I agree with them; the Communists, with heir recent proposals, wish to abolish the regional autonomy which we strongly support, and hope to centralize the issues. That is a dangerous vision of Istalia, wit all of the power residing in the hands of a few individuals, elected, yes, they don't really know much about the local issues of the people, of the regions, something that the regional authorities, on the other hand, are bound to understand. That is why I wish to say that I fully support the statement made by the governor of Trivendito, and I want to say that he has my back, if anything is to start because of it.
