VESPA-BALDASSARE AND CANDELA TO LEAD THE ULD

Now, after Grimaldo Simonette has taken the seat of Prime Minister, he and his court (as the ULD members to serve as a part of the cabinet are referred to) are set to focus on the government, something that the ULD states to traditionally do (justifying their huge recent success). That means that the party is left mostly by itself: Del Gatto became the Deputy Prime Minister to Simonette, even though he wasn't granted a ministerial position, and both Migliore and Pellegrini became president and vice-president of the chamber of deputies. That left both the chair of First Vice-Chairperson of the Party and Deputy Chairperson of the Party in the Chambers empty, and usually, those two people share a lot of power over the party when the Chairperson is busy heading the government. Now, obviously, the Chairperson is the most important person and the biggest authority, but those two seats generally co-rule.

Now, since both seats were empty, Simonette was forced to hold a contest for them, and the party has decided to make Erardo Candela, Simonette's right hand, the First Vice-Chair, with Elena Vespa-Baldassare as the Deputy Chairperson. As Simonette now also announced that independent specialists will join the ULD as advisors to those two, to guarantee larger stability, and, as he put it, a wise, not so ideologically charged voice, he seems to focus on the Government's future actions currently, such as a potential new tax system.

The Governor of Trivendito accuses the communists "They want abolish the regions"

VINESIA - Even if the MFI is a centre-left party, the relation with the radical left represented by the communist party is not going so well. The Governor of the region Trivendito Tosatto Michelle accuses that communist doesn't matter the interests of the single local interests and accuses the communists what they want "abolish the regions". The Confederal Governor of the Movimento Federalista Istaliano accuses the Communist Party to want to transform the nation in Burocratistan with insane centralization.

AI Congratulates the acting government
Aurora Adorinda proposes a constitutional reform to the governing coalition, establishing the Federal Republic of Istalia

With this legislature being three years in, the new government can be summed up in one word: de-centralization. The clear winners are definitely the Federalists, but in the opposition, the AI has reaped its benefits too. Placing to regional governors, in Padagna and Mezzodiurno, the AI has been given more power than it has hoped for during this legislature. Despite the AI voting against most of the government's bills as they removed free-market policies in favor of regional policies, the AI leadership is not discontent about the work done. "Il Duce" Aurora Adorinda has even congratulated the governing coalition:
When this coalition first emerged, we were expecting another unproductive 4 years as the centre-left and right seemingly had no common ground. What we got is a new budget, with Istalia experiencing a surplus for the first time in decades and a package of federal reforms proposed by the MFI which in the majority of cases has been successful thanks to the other coalition members' support. We have indeed voted against these reforms as they have removed many benevolent capitalist policies for which we have fought for. However, it has also removed many excessively bureaucratic leftist policies which have been inhibiting on the freedom of people in the regions. This has given us much more leverage in Padagna and Mezzodiurno, which allowed us to fulfill our campaign promises at least in those two regions, as the whole country has been taken from us. Hence, we are not complaining and I have even issued a statement in Parliament which establishes the AI's support for a Federal Constitutional Reform which woulf establish the Federal Republic of Istalia.

I remember the PNP, together with the ULD, at one point attempted such an affair, but they were halted in their tracks by the voters. I wonder if now the tides have turned. We are calling upon the government, specifically the MFI, to propose such a reform which we would gladly support.

LEPERA: THE COMMUNISTS HAVE A DANGEROUS VISION OF ISTALIA

Image
The ex-president has recently stirred up some controversy

Ex-President, and now a ULD honorary Vice-Leader, Oscar Lepera, has recently become an active political commentator, as can be seen on his personal blog, which instantly became a hit among the younger ULD voters. On that blog, the Ex-President recently bashed the communist party, the main opposition to the Liberal Democrats, in a very long rant. Some of the statements made in that post quickly stirred controversy. Some state that the statement itself was made to be controversial, so that Lepera could help in his Grandson's campaign, while others say that the language, untypical of Lepera, who, during his term, was known as a rather mild exponent of the ULD, that mostly avoided using radical language. However, the Ex-President decided to comment on the dispute in a press conference, in the halls of the ULD's HQ.

I made those statements, not for any reason that certain people stat, but just because I agree with them; the Communists, with heir recent proposals, wish to abolish the regional autonomy which we strongly support, and hope to centralize the issues. That is a dangerous vision of Istalia, wit all of the power residing in the hands of a few individuals, elected, yes, they don't really know much about the local issues of the people, of the regions, something that the regional authorities, on the other hand, are bound to understand. That is why I wish to say that I fully support the statement made by the governor of Trivendito, and I want to say that he has my back, if anything is to start because of it.

He was soon backed by Elena Vespa-Baldassare and Erardo Candela, who, in a joint open letter announced that the ULD will support any further efforts put into decentralization of environmental and agricultural issues.

FLORENZA, PADAGNA - On September 18th, the Primary elections of the PLI took place, with the outgoing President Rosso, the Deputy Secretary Borromeo, Giovanni Piacente and the former President Ghedini. There were 2 members for each faction: Rosso and Piacente for the Liberals and Ghedini and Borromeo for the Social Democrats. Absent the Socialists also given the small component that remains of them in the PLI.
The primary elections had the following result:

Rosso is triumphantly re-elected to lead the PLI, a key point in his program concerned the change of the name of the Party, but this change will be made official only after the elections, for now we will continue to call "Istalian Labor Party".
Rosso in the post-election statements says that the eighth PLI Congress will be after the general election, Rosso has hinted the intention to change the name of the PLI but has not yet made possible proposals for the new name that will probably be discussed and possibly approved in the eighth Congress.
