APPOINTMENTS OF THE HEADS OF THE NEW MINISTRIES, GREAT DEVOLUTION LAW, THE NEW ISTALIAN SCHOOL, THE ELECTORAL LAW FOR THE FEDERAL COUNCIL AND THE RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS NEWS AND THE PROPOSAL TO CREATE THE OFFICE OF THE ARCH-PATRIARCAL LEGATE OF ISTALIA: ESPOSITO GOVERNMENT ACHIEVED AND NEXT GOALS

January 5121

With the start of the new year, the majority of Hosian Democracy presented the initiatives that will be adopted during the year. Works in parliament has already begun while the government has finalized the implementation of various initiatives that had been approved in the first months of his mandate.
Prime Minister Esposito has in fact appointed the heads of the two new ministries created by the government a year and a half ago for which the separation of their matters from the previously responsible ministries took longer than expected.
The new Ministry of Religious Affairs was entrusted to Giovanni Carloni while the Ministry of Federal Affairs was entrusted to Noora Anaya.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill. ... lid=658254) from this year has religious affairs in general and the Aurorian Church as Istalia's State church in particular as its area of responsibility. The Ministry is tasked to handle with the laws relating the Religions, conduct investigations and takes decisions of other religions than the State Church and on their members and their evangelism activity in Istalia.
The Ministry handles planning and management functions for the State Church like legislative initiatives, laying down general regulations in the church administration area, coordinating budgets and personnel administration with assistance from the Aurorian CHurch authorities.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs assists the Aurorian Church in initiating development initiatives and developing the Sate Church's framework, including the Aurorian Church's contribution to the Istalian cultural heritage.
Finally the Ministry cooperates with the Ministry of Education and Culture to organize and manage the Teaching of Aurorian Church in the Istalian schools.
The Ministry of Federal Affairs instead (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill. ... lid=658255) will coordinate the government action in relation to relations with the Federal and Local authorities and with the ethnic and linguistic minority for the promotion of development and collaboration between the State, Federal Community, regions and local autonomies, as well as for the promotion of the necessary activities for the orderly development of relations between the State, Federal Communities, regions and local autonomies, ensuring the adequate exercise and coordination of the powers and provisions envisaged for cases of inaction and non-compliance.
The Ministry deals with the relations concerning the activities of the Federal Communities, regions and local authorities, the relations with ethnic and linguistic minorities.
About the plans for the initiatives to be approved this years the most importants certainly are the great devolution plan envisaged by the Government and the Constitutional law on the election of the Federal Council.
Prime Minister Esposito already underlined at the beginning of her mandate that her Government wanted to increase the involvement and the powers of local governments and the matters devolved to the them.
With the Local governments act (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill. ... lid=658463) the Government is about to devolve to the federal communities the responsability to decide and regulate several matters until now prerogative of the state to decide about and among these initiative the federal communities will be entrusted to create their communities local police forces. As per the law approved the same year of the restoration of the empire about the defense and the security of the nation the future communities polices functions within the respective state will be the public security for the preservation of the public order, the safety of the people and the patrimony, they will can carry out detective work, forensics, criminal investigation and administrative and judicial police duty.
The Federal Police so will keep sole responsibility of combating crimes against Imperial institutions, international drug trafficking, terrorism, cyber-crime, organized crime, but obviously on federal jurisdiction the Federal Police will keep all functions related to administrative and judicial police duty.
The federal communities then will decide on their own in agreement with their regions if and how divide tasks between them to manage the devolved policies.
As regard the Constitutional law on the election of the Federal Council will finally give the chance to proceed with the election of the Federal Council which constitutional provisions since the restoration of the Empire have remained a dead letter.
The previous year the opposition of National Alliace had put at vote the proposal drafted under their government but the Hosian Democracy majority abstained from the vote because the electoral system was considered too complex and not easy to implement and thus the bill didn't reached the requested majority of 2/3 of the Chamber of Deputies.
Esposito Government presented this months its proposal on the election of the Federal Council (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill. ... lid=658462) proposing a easier and more transparent electoral system. Resuming the proposal by National Alliace of a large single costituency for each federal community the new electoral system will provide a easier proportional system for the allocation of the 50 seats assigned to the Sarrentine community and the 50 seats assigned to the Alarian community.
Finally about the news on the side of religious affairs (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill. ... lid=658258) since the beginning of this fiscal year the State has took over the responsability to borne salaries and pensions of ministers of the Aurorian Church being the State Church of Istalia while the Government has now the right to veto the appointment of ministers of religion in order primary to preserve the role of the Aurorian Church in Istalia towards other religions.
Talking about the Aurorian Church the Prime Minister announced that the next step to streamline the relationship between the State and the Church will be the creation of the role of the Arch-Patriarcal Legate at the Istalian Government, a office whose holder should be appointed by the Aurorian Church on the recommendation of the Episcopal College of the Istalian bishops and in agreement with the Istalian government. The Legate should be a bishop and it is not excluded that the office is held by the Patriarch of Istalia, Solentia and Quanzar or by the Primate of Istalia that is the bishop of Romula. The Legate will interface with the new Minister of Religious Affairs to coordinate the the activity of the Aurorian Church within the country.
During the press conference to expose the new plans and the goals already achieved by the government PRime Minister Esposito spooke also about the istalian school saying to be very satisfied about the new national curricula, the introduction of the Teaching of the Aurorian faith and she was very satisfied to see walking on the streets of Istalia children and teenagers in their new uniforms (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill. ... lid=658260) that the Prime Minister praised for having give dignity and orderliness to the students but above all for having concretely contributed reducing the differences and disparities between them.
At the end of the press conference held by the Prime Minister exposing the new plans and the achievements of her ministry, Sara Esposito who already presented the condolance of the government to the Imperial family the last year for the death of Emperor Emeritus Paul Thomas, added that the Government is planning to entitle a monument to the former emperor to commemorate his memory.

Istalia invites to ease tensions in east Majatra
The government takes neutral position as a mediator but from the ranks of nationalists rises the voice of Nadia Berrettini about Prefect Tantaliadis claims: "Since when it is an act of hostility to express opinions or criticisms towards a third nation or deciding not to agree with a treaty? Third nations should do whatever Kalopia wants in the opinion of the Prefect? I hope the Kalopian Government won't follow up such a whining"

4 April 5120

ROMULA - The Istalian Government, the newly appointed second Solenghi's Government after the electoral victory of two month ago by part of National Alliance party, has today intervened in the diatribe that has arisen in East Majatra between Kalopia and Kafuristan. Following the criticisms expressed by the Kafuri Government against the Kalopian Government in relation to the ongoing protests in Kalopia against the Government and therefore of Kafuristan's decision to withdraw from the Official Kalopian Diplomatic and Neutrality Treaty, internal Kalopian officiale, Prefect of Kithara Thanassis Tantaliadis, has expressed strong resentment against Kafuri asking his government to take retaliatory measures such as the expulsion of the Kafuri diplomatic corps and even economic sanctions if not forms of commercial embargo, threats to which the Kafuri government has responded by increasing security measures along the border in common with Kalopia as well as the presence of military forces.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonella Mercalli has therefore issued the following statement on behalf of the Istalian Government, aimed to invite both Kalopia and Kafuri to ease the tensions and to resort to dialogue and diplomacy to resolve this issue:

Image
Official statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Istalian Empire
4 April 5122

The Istalian Government, noting the diplomatic tension that has emerged in recent months between Kafuri and Kalopia, animated by the desire to contribute to the maintenance of peace and stability in Majatra, a fundamental prerequisite for the well-being of not only Istalian citizens but people of all Majatrane nations, invites the Governments of Kalopia and Kafuri to resort to dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the current crisis and avoid hastily and unilaterally adopting drastic and hostile measures to respond to this situation.

The Istalian Government will prove more than willing to intervene in order to mediate between Kalopia and Kafuri and assist both Governments to find a satisfactory solution for both parties and avoid further forms of escalations.

Although the Government has placed itself in a neutral position with respect to the two contenders, offering diplomatic assistance to both, there are not a few who read among the lines of the Foreign Minister an invitation addressed above all to the Kalopian government, rather than to the Kafuri one, not to follow the course of action proposed by Prefect Khitara Thanassis, whose words have been considered as an overreaction even by the Istalia government, at least according to some leaked rumors, exactly like it was considered an overreaction the deployement of military forces on the border by part of Kafuri Government. But, according to several comments and opinion leaders, it must also be said that it cannot be denied that relations between Istalia and Kafuristan have been more than cordial since the new Republic of Kafuristan was established and that there has been a certain diplomatic rapprochement between the two countries.

But if the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government have not commented and followed up on similar interpretations but rather reiterating its willingness to act as a neutral mediator, even inviting Kafuri to avoid military troops deployment on the border, the National Alliance's Deputy Nadia Berrettini, veritable leader of the most rightist whing of the party, did not refrain from expressing without half measures what is an opinion that seems to be quite widespread among the ranks of the recently elected majority:

Like the government, we believe that the increase of security forces, and especially military ones, along its borders by part of the Government of Kafuristan is an unnecessary measure as we absolutely do not believe that military threats can come from Kalopia and also because, obviously, it doesn't help diplomatically. And for this reason me, like the rest of the majority and the government, I invite the Kafuri authorities to withdraw their troops.

But, having said that, personally me, like many of my colleagues, I cannot ignore how the reaction and especially the requests from some internal Kalopia authorities have been simply inappropriate and disproportionate, not to say selfish if not chauvinistic, and I'm talking about the Prefect of Khitara Tantaliadis.

I would like to ask the Prefect: since when can a third country not express criticism against Kalopia? Does the Prefect really believe that the Kalopian Treaty of Neutrality should be interpreted as a gag for the signatory nations? Where is it written above all in the treaty? Is really the opinion of the Prefect that expressing an opinion or even a criticism is a form of threat to Kalopia's sovereignty or a way to meddle with their internal affairs? It is a form of foreign interference the decision of Kafuri do not broadcast anymore within their own territory Kalopian TV programs? I'm sorry but I don't think so. The government of any other nation, sovereign nation just like Kalopia, has the full right to express its opinions and positions towards third countries, even in relation to what happens within them. It is thanks to this that slavery recently has been abolished in Dundorf, just because a third nation expressed its opinion about something that was happening within the borders of another country. Of course, I'm not putting on the same level what happened in Dundorf and what in Kalopia, but adopting the logic and the line of thinking by Prefect Tantaliadis no nation would have the right to comment on another nation's internal affairs for any reason.
Or maybe it is because the criticism was supportive of rightist polical positions opposed to the leftist Government of Kalopia? A nation's borders do not make it an isolated island in the middle of the sea. And furthermore, it is ironic that the Prefect pretends that no one should dare to express an opinion on the internal affairs of his country when he himself did not hold back in criticizing how Kafuri is governed.

But there is more there! I would still like to ask the Prefect what should give Kalopia the right to cut diplomatic contacts, adopt sanctions and forms of embargo, or other not well-defined rataliation measures, just because a third and sovereign nation does not adhere or wants to withdraw from their precious neutrality treaty? Should we understand that according to Prefect Tantaliadis the rest of the world either adheres and/or remains bound to that treaty or should expect retaliation measures from Kalopia? Quite pretentious as an idea exactly like the one that no one should dare to express an opinion on what happens within the boundaries of Kalopia. Aren't they a "great and beautiful" democracy? Is there something they want not to be seen maybe? And it takes courage and above all it takes a lot of imagination in affirming that the expression of an opinion is a form of political interference, it really takes a lot of imagination to say something like that...

And now I imagine that the Prefect will return to the cameras tomorrow with his paranoia, demanding that his government take retaliation measures against me because I dared to express such an opinion. Somewhat hypocritical and above all biased as a claim! From my point of view even the Kalopian Government didn't refrain from expressing an opinion about third country, like Selucia for example, congratulating few years ago about the return of democracy and therefore, I think it is clear, expressing a critical position towards the previous ordist regime. And, as I already said, didn't the Prefect Tantaliadis express his opinion on the lack of democracy in Kafuristan.

So, Mr Prefect, who are you and what do you think your country is to be able to express your opinion while the rest of the world must not dare to criticize you? I invite the Prefect Tantaliadis to get off his pedestal and return within us ordinary mortals and therefore to avoid such drama queen's hysterical scenes by demanding expulsions of diplomats, sanctions, embargoes and other "indefinite" retaliation measures because someone has expressed their own opinion and/or because a nation dared to withdraw from a treaty, an option that is more than legitimate for any independent and sovereign nation in the world! And I really hope that the Government of Kalopia will not follow up such a whining!

Empire Day: the AF-50 "Predatore" flies over the parade for the 20th anniversary of the Restoration
The parade in Romula proved to be a great showcase for the armed forces and the modernization program and the government is keen to finance new projects although it has to deal with the liberal wing of AN

ROMULA - As every year, on the occasion of the anniversary of the founding of the Third Empire, the great military parade crossed the main road axis of the center of Romula, parading under the eyes of tens of thousands of spectators and under the eyes of the authorities.

In the Imperial tribune, His Majesty the Emperor sat in the front row together with the Empress, the Crown Prince Michele with his whole family (his wife Loredana and their three children Tommaso, Giorgia and Nicola), the Prime Minister Solenghi, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, the Archchancellor, the Imperial Chancellor and the Grand Chamberlain, the Chiefs of Defense and all the Armed Forces, the Chief of Police, the Mayor of Romula, the President of the Constitutional Court, the President of the Supreme Tribunal of Cassation, the Archbishop of Romula and gradually in the ranks behind all the other ministers, other senior officers of the armed forces, majority and opposition Deputies, senior officials of ministries, departments, various agencies, state companies, etc...
Numerous were also the foreign guests while most of the diplomats from other countries sat on the other vip tribunes at the sides of the imperial tribune.

Image
Some of the new equipement and vehicles of the Armed Forces arriving at the parade

Opened by cadets of military schools and academies, the parade saw foot soldiers from several divisions of the army infantry, the navy infantery, Air Force, Imperial Gendarmerie, including the Imperial Guard's mounted units followed by the mounted ceremonial units of army, foot soldiers of several divisions of the Sarrentine and Alarian National Guards, mounted units of the Sarrentine and Alarian Police Forces, cadets from the Police schools, members of the medical department, brigades of the fire-fighters agencies, battalions from reservist and representatives of the veterans. After the foot and mounted soldiers, then, came the motorized and armored troops displaying the most modern and powerful equipements and vehicles of the Armed Forces.

Romula's sky today, in addition to being colored by the tricolor left by the trails of the aerobatic team of the Istalian Air Force, the "Comete Tricolori", was the stage for the official debut of the AF-50 "Predatore", the real guest star of the event this year: after years of development marked by not a few delays, finally, alongside the other units of the Air Force and the Army, Navy and Gendarmerie Aviations, the brand new Istalian multi-role air superiority fighter flew over the skies of Romula.

Having prevailed over the competitor of Alaria Aerospace, the double-canard fighter from Ajace went into production last year and just two months ago the first units were delivered to the 12th Squadron of the 7th Wing of the Air Force. Military authorities have stated that the new Istalian fighter, although many of its technical features are covered by military secrecy, meet the internationally-accepted requirements so to be classified as last-generation aircraft. It features, in fact, stealth technology, supersonic cruising speed, and highly integrated avionics. The jet can fulfill both air-to-air and air-to-ground combat roles, it is designed to link into the national defense networks (currently one of the most advanced worldwide after it was part of the modernization program of 5113), which enables these cutting-edge fighters to access real-time information supplied by satellites and unmanned air vehicles. It features a Maximum Takeoff Weight up to 37,000 kilograms and addition it carries a variety of advanced electronic systems like an active electronically scanned array, a chin mounted infrared/electro-optic search and track sensor, and a passive electro-optical detection system that will provide 360° spherical coverage around the aircraft, as well as an advanced communications suite which will link the jet to the unmanned aircrafts currently being developed.

Image

The deployment of the new fighter over Romula's skies comes a few days after the news that the government is close to approving new defense funding with the probable goal of modernizing the submarine component of the Navy.
Interviewed by the press last week, however, the Prime Minister had declared that the Council of Ministers still had to address the issue and that in any case it was not yet certain whether or not to insert the funds for a new naval program.

The statement came likely as a result of the several voices that have risen from the ranks of the majority party opposed to further allocations of funds for the defense while the current modernization program is still underway. These voices came from numerous AN parliamentarians from the liberal area of the party who have been putting pressure on the government for a streamlining of the federal budget for a year now and it is therefore expected that the government and the leadership of AN will devote themselves to probing the internal situation of the party in the coming days before making a decision on the matter.

The liberal wing of the party, in fact, has grown in recent years, especially following the last elections, in reaction to the increasingly marked shift of the Hosiandemocrats towards left-wing economic positions, so much so that it has now become such a large wing as it can stand up to the nationalist hawks, who push for the building of a strong military apparatus, and the Prime Minister will certainly has to take this into account.

AN's liberal wings makes the Prime Minister tremble
Dissatisfied with the unfulfilled promises on budget cuts and for the recent additional defense allocations, the liberals have risen up led by Federica Palamara and Zeno Solenghi risks to be ousted by his own party finding himself even more isolated also by part of the hard liner nationalists: could he become a scapegoat?
Image
Zeno Solenghi seems to be day after day even more isolated by all sides of his own party

16 October 5124

ROMULA - There is stormy air within AN and the news about the break between Prime Minister Zeno Solenghi and a very important part of his political as well as parliamentary base, that is the liberal wing of his party, has emerged in recent days.

The leader of the liberal wing of the National Alliance, Federica Palamara, was seen few days ago hurrying out with some of her collaborators and parliamentary colleagues from the party headquarters and then appearing in front of the journalists crowded at the Palace of Res Publica (seat of parliament) in front of whom she expressed her decision to no longer support Zeno Solenghi either as Prime Minister or as National Secretary of the National Alliance.

In a few hours Palamara's statements were joined by the ones of numerous other parliamentarians who, given the little margin between AN and HD, crippled the majority by making Zeno Solenghi tremble dangerously, concretely undermining his tenure in the Government.

In the evening, therefore, a joint declaration by the parliamentarians of the liberal wing of AN was published and in which they expressed all their disappointment towards the Prime Minister who for years has now disregarded the expectations of a large slice of his party regarding spending issues: the liberals have long been pushing for a streamlining of the budget and for a profound revision of state spending, especially in the area of welfare. But, it is not over: in fact, the Prime Minister ignored the contrary opinion of this important slice of his party when the Council of Ministers allocated additional funds to the Defense whose approval was almost extorted from the majority by the government with the cooperation of the Defense Committee of the Chamber, whose members are all nationalists and conservatives from both the majority and the opposition parties, which placed the request for new funds as vital and functional for the continuation of the ongoing modernization program of the armed forces which had been approved by many of liberal exponents already within the parliament in 5113.

With regard to the Defense Commission, Federica Palamara stressed that despite the pressing requests from the Defense Commission so that the funds allocations are approved, the minutes of the meeting that approved the initiative of the Ministry of Defense, which therefore led to the request for funds, and the same initiative of the Government have been declared confidential and therefore classified for reasons of national security.

Image
Federica Palamara, leader of the liberal wings of AN

I think this is now the last straw that has now overflowed the camel's back! The Prime Minister has pulled too hard and after having supported him for all these years what I and the MPs of AN I represent have received were only promises!

At the beginning of this mandate and during the electoral campaign, the Prime Minister had promised us massive reforms, a lightening of the elephantine welfare that the Demohosians left us and important cuts to contain money waste and put an end to programs that have only affected the country's competitiveness. All broken promises! What the Prime Minister presented as an epochal reform few years ago, the one of privatizations, was in reality a half reform that led to half privatizations. We all know how AUDISS has not been affected in the slightest and I would like to underline that to date AUDISS controls a considerable portion of the Istalian economy through the numerous companies it owns or in which it has significant shareholdings.

And speaking of AUDISS, I obviously refer to the additional funds that will go to AUDISS as a privileged partner of Defense. Prime Minister Solenghi did the interests of state-owned companies exactly as Esposito did, the problem is that Esposito is from HD and Solenghi is sitting on his current chair with the fundamental contribution of a substantial part of his party who wanted reforms which, instead, never arrived.

But, still speaking of Defense, further perplexities have arisen within this substantial component of AN regarding how those resources will be used. What we do know is that the funds will be used to start a design program for the Navy's submarine force and to increase national intelligence capabilities. Any other more detailed details are not available because they are classified for national security reasons and none of the parliamentarians of the liberal area have been included by the party among the AN members of the Defense Commission at the beginning of this term.

But it is not only my party that I blame, I also address the silence among the ranks of the Demohosians who despite being in opposition on defense issues seem to be more than in tune with the hawks of our party and with Solenghi. Was it not the former Prime Minister and current leader of the opposition Sara Esposito who invited her parlamentarians to abstain from voting on the bill for these new funds? Have you heard any statements about it from the Demohosians? Not me! And I fear that the reason for all this is a hard core of hardliner nationalists present in both AN and HD who have made some agreements behind their colleagues, their party supporters and the backs of the Istalian people themselves.

For this reason, I believe the time has come for Prime Minister Solenghi to reflect on his position as Head of Government and decide whether to resign or whether to come to parliament and explain to the whole Chamber of Deputies what these additional funds are for. The liberal wing of AN is now compact in making this decision so the fate of the Prime Minister is in the hands of almost half of his party: it is now up to him to decide whether or not to regain our trust.

But, we liberals we want also know by part of our party colleagues of the more nationalistic and conservative wings if they are still interested in having us as part of this party or if a better option would be our depart in order to create an alternative to their domination of the internal affairs of the party, if they really want us or if they consider us just as numbers to kept in place "their" government!

Thus, very harsh words from Federica Palamara who presented a veritable ultimatum to the Prime Minister and the rest of her own party but if many expected a tone response from the hawks of AN and the Prime Minister, it was rather surprising to see Solenghi coming in these days increasingly isolated even from the conservatives and radical nationalists who, instead, seemed to opt for a more conciliatory path towards Palamara. The reaction surprised Palamara herself who, however, since she was summoned to party headquarters by the National Steering Committee of AN, she has made no further statements saying just that she will wait until the Prime Minister gives an answer to her requests.

The situation is therefore becoming more and more complex and mysterious and for the moment the only certain thing is that scorched earth is being created around the Prime Minister, that Solenghi is increasingly isolated and therefore his position as Head of Government and Leader of the majority party is becoming more and more compromised day after day, risking to become a scapegoat for the interests of the hard liner nationalists and conservatives.

Zeno Solenghi has resigned!
AN National Conference voted to oust Solenghi as leader of the Party forcing the Prime Minister to went to the Emperor to step down: with next elections so close the Emperor asked him to continue to lead the government until February
Image
The Tridente Aurora of the Prime Minister going to Quattroregni Palace to resign

9 August 5125

ROMULA - Not only is the country caught in the grip of the coldest winter of the last hundred years, but the chill of resignation and bitterness has also fallen on Antinori Palace and Prime Minister Zeno Solenghi. In fact, after long months of clashes and internal negotiations within the majority party National Alliance, finally last night around 7 pm the 150 members of the National Conference of the party, the party body that oversees on the work of the Steering Committee and of the leadership, cast their vote on the issue on the agenda: with 97 votes in favor of the no-confidence motion presented by the leadership of the liberal wing, Zeno Slenghi was disheartened as the party's National Secretary.

Upon hearing the news while he was visiting the National Laboratory of Particle Physics of the Fulgicuspide (the name of the mountain under which the complex lays), where he witnessed an ignition of the Large Particles Collider housed in the laboratory, the Prime Minister, having taken leave of the team of scientists of the structure, immediately returned to Romula aboard a state helicopter where he arrived around half past one am to spend his last night at Antinori Palace as Prime Minister in office.
The next morning, in fact, around 8 am a Tridente Aurora with Solenghi on board left Antinori Palace and took him to Quattroregni Palace where he was received by the Emperor to whom the Prime Minister officially presented his resignation and those of his Council of Ministers.

The Emperor, who had already spoken with the President of the Chamber of Deputies the evening before, accepted Solenghi's resignation but at the same time asked the outgoing Prime Minister to continue to lead the government until the natural expiry of the mandate given that the next elections of February 5126 are just a few months away. Zeno Solenghi, therefore, will continue to reside at Antinori Palace at the helm of this caretaker government which will exclusively deal with managing current affairs for the next months until the next elections.

It is very likely, however, that well before February we will know who will be Solenghi's successor at the head of the National Alliance and in fact it seems that the next National Congress of the party will be held at the beginning of September. Among the most likely candidates there will obviously be Federica Palamara, leader of the liberal wing and main responsible for the fall of Solenghi, who however seems to have to face an unusual alliance that has been forming for some time between the nationalist hawks of the party, some liberals in contrast with Palamara and the small progressive wing that completely opposes the positions of the liberals defined by some as "miniarchists".

AN's all female new leadership: new Secretary is Vanessa Giugni while Palamara will lead the Steering Committee
In order to defend their Defense policies the hardliners of the party found an agreement with the liberals to satisfy both their priority goals
Image

New AN National Secretary Vanessa Giugni (above) and the new Steering Committee Secretary Federica Palamara (below)

27 Septembre 5125

MISSEL - The National Alliance Congress saw about 1200 delegates from all the country's party sections to meet for two weeks in Missel, north of Alaria, and was by far one of the most agitated congresses that the party has ever kept. As it was predictable, the congress was inflamed by the contrast between the front of the nationalist hardliners and that of the liberals who did not spare themselves in launching mutual accusations in blaming the others for the responsibilities of the government crisis entirely internal to the party that led to the resignation of Prime Minister Solenghi.

The liberal wing showed the most fierce and had come to the Congress determined to support Federica Palamara's candidacy for the sword to the party secretariat. The deputy of Neapulia who unseat Solenghi from the guide of the liberals guiding the uprising against the Prime Minister, despite the fact that after the resignation of the latter she had lowered the tones, came to the congress she proved to be extremely fierce and ready to do anything to prevail over the Hawks of the old guard. But as the days passed, while the debates continued among the benches of the delegates, behind the scenes the leaders of the various internal factions of the party, determined to heal the rift and strengthen the party unity, have worked hard to find a Agreement that could satisfy all the parties and probably this was found during a closed door meeting that was held in a private dining room of the Missel Gran Hotel where most of the delegates were housed.

Although Palamara had to take the blows of the criticisms of the most fierce exponents of the liberal wing for what they called as an agreement of convenience, during the second week of the congress the agreement was finalized and in the end the votes of the congress were directed towards the name of Vanessa Giugni, Deputy of Castiell 'e Sciorenza who replaced Nicola Persichetti as the party's Whip in the Chamber after the fall of Solenghi. A Nationalist who in recent months has worked hard to bring back and reconnect Palamara and her men, Giugni was chosen by the Hardliners as their candidate for the Secretary, both because she was already closer to the liberals and their positions and because her comunicative skills and her crucial role in convincing Solenghi to left without too much fuss. Giugni, in fact, had been very close to Solenghi with whom, according to the gossips, he had had a "special" relationship thanks to which she had climbed the leaders of the party, and in recent years, in a discreet way not to excessively feed the rumors Of his involvement with Solenghi, she has made his contacts and friendships with the major exponents of the party becoming an authoritative voice without however exposing herself excessively.

Giugni has been elected new National Secretary with a comfortable majority by presenting herself as the "voice of the whole party" ensuring all its various souls that she will work to respond to all the instances that the party represents without leaving anyone behind. But to supervise Giugni's work, there will be a steering Committee and a National Conference dominated by the liberals, with Federica Palamara at their head and elected as Steering Committee Secretary and Economic and Finance Responsible, who will almost have carte blanche in planning the economic policies of the party while the nationalists will have the total support on the goals relating to national Defense.

By now in the middle of the election campaign, the National Alliance is presenting a strongly liberal program by supporting further deregulation and liberalizations for a policy as much business-friendly possible, the privatization of state companies and strong cuts in public spending accompanied by cuts to income and sale taxes. The party aims to increase consumption and investments, as well as to increase industrial competitiveness and labor productivity. The duo Giugni and Palamara are determined to distance the party more and more from the Demohosians and their leftist positions in the economic field and therefore offer the country, now characterized by this bipartisanism, a greater and clear distinction between the two parties.

ROMULA - The three-day official visit to Istalia of the President and Prime Minister of Kalopia, Afroditi Ioannaki and Alekos Nassas, ended yesterday evening and for all international observers it was a fruitful visit for the two countries. The Kalopians return home with a draft of a collaboration agreement in the scientific and technological field in their pockets while many Istalian investors look favorably on the preliminary talks about a commercial and economic agreement.

The Kalopian presidential plane landed three days ago to the Romula's Michele I International Airport. From there the two Kalopian leaders took different paths: President Ioannaki was in fact takento Quattroregni Palace where she was welcomed with all the honors expected by the protocol in the courtyard of honor. Accompanied in the Hall of the Ambassadors, she was welcomed here by the Emperor, the Empress and the Prince and Princess of the Crown. The President and the Emperor talked for a long time as they strolled through the Palace's halls rich of Baroque and Neoselucian decorations. The Emperor showed, among the various works and historical artifacts that adorn the Palace, also an ancient Kalopian statue from the pre-classical period, a rare example with still different traces of color. The Emperor would have offered the President to send the statue to Kalopia for a period to be agreed to be exhibited to the public. Among the curiosities cited by the Emperor there would be the Kalopian origin of the name of the Serrentina Peninsula: it derives from the ancient Kalopian form Συρρεντόν, Syrrentón, from the verb συρρέω, syrréo, "I converge", referring to the waters that descend copiously from the mountains and cross the valleys and plains of the peninsula: therefore "confluence of the waters", a lush and refreshing vision for the ancient Kalopian explorers once they have overcome the tendentially arid east-majatran territories.

Prime Minister Nassas, instead, met Prime Minister Sara Esposito at Antinori Palace. After having talked in the office of the Prime Minister, the two heads of government met the press. Both the country have worked to begin a path of growing cooperation in the economic and scientific fields, as well as on the cultural and turistic ones, considering the millennial history and the millennial historical testimoniances that both Istalia and Kalopia can boast.
Great common interest for both the country is to establish a stable cooperation in scientific and tecnological field. Kalopian scientists would be more than interested in working with the Large Particles Collider while Istalians would be interested in find new partners for the project of the experimental nuclear fusion reactor which, for lack of international partecipation didn't do too much progress in last decades.

Moments of the State banquet held in Quattroregni Palace

Both Kalopian leaders were hosted in the diplomatic apartments of Quattroregni Palace where they were able to meet and prepare for the state banquet held by His Majesty the Emperor. Over two hundred guests attended the banquet which was followed by a short party in the gardens.

In fact, they had to woke up early the next day: President Ioannaki was accompanied by the Crown Prince through the streets of Romula, visiting the ancient ruins and the numerous historical and artistic monuments and beauties of the city. In the afternoon the Prince brought the President to an exhibition recently opened at the Museum of Istalian Civilization dedicated to some of the most important statesmen of Istalian history including Presidents, Prime Ministers and Sovereigns, of the modern and contemporary era.
Curiosity of the day: the Prince wanted to make a short stop in a characteristic restaurant in the center of Romula, a rather unexpected choice by the Prince that caused some issues for the order service to keep curious, tourists and passers-by at bay. Although the biggest "problems" were the greetings, the shouts, the applause of those present and a requests for too many selfies while meeting people in the surrounding streets after the Prince had proposed a short walk in the surrounding area. President Ionnaki said that he greatly appreciated the several delicacies of traditional Romulan cuisine and that he appreciated having had the opportunity to feel a little of the life of the historic districts of the city, a memory that she will carry with her forever.

Prime Minister Nassas instead flew with Prime Minister Esposito to the north: the two visited the National Particle Physics Laboratory which houses the Large Particles Collider. The Laboratory staff guided the two Heads of Government through the numerous laboratories and installations on the site. The current Laboratory Director, Emilio Bernacchi, was particularly proud to showcase the very latest device installed in the Large Collider: the Compact Muon Solenoid, 21 meters long by 15 meters in diameter which took several decades to be completed. The expense and unilateral commitment of Istalia saw the project be carried out in an extremely long time, over five decades, but now Istalia has a machine that is now 85% functioning that could be tempting scientists and scientific institutes of all the world.
Istalia has never hidden that it is interested in establishing fruitful agreements with foreign nations and entities interested in exploiting the possibilities of the Large Collider and beginning to have some return also on the economic side after the expenses supported.

The evening, new general gathering at Quattroregni Palace from where the highest authorities of both Istalia and Kalopia moved to the Romula Opera House to attend a performance of the opera Tatjana, of the great istalian composer Giacomo Licini (1851-1938).

On the third day, Prime Ministers Nassas and Esposito visited Burìa, its university, the oldest in Istalia and among the oldest in the world, and therefore the famous Technocitadel. Prime Minister Nassas was particularly interested in the supercomputer Riccardo hosted in the Technocitadel. The staff present explained that the capabilities of the Supercomputer are made available to universities and research institutions across the country. He explained, for example, that Ajace used Riccardo's capabilities for studies and simulations while designing the newest multirole stealth jet of the Istalian Armed Forces.
Among the most important private users there is certainly AUDISS with many companies belonging to the group that have user contracts for the supercomputer. The universities of Burìa, Romula, Caleon and Argigenta have recently entered into a common financing agreement to offer additional time for the supercomputer services to the various departments of their universities.

The Crown Prince Michele and President Ioannaki instead traveled in Alaria, north of Nicoma, where they attended a party held in the halls and gardens of the Palace of Villareale. Here, the diplomatic authorities and the staff of the President and the Prince met the gotha of the Istalian industry. The recent privatizations wanted by the previous government have led to a great number of sales and purchases of companies and among the participants in the buffet were seen both old captains of industry leading families at the top of economic empires, and rampant new entrepreneurs who are taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the strong business-friendly policy adopted. There were also titled names: both Corlione and Rumor families were present, respectively Princes of Castronovu and Princes of Vicovalente, both at the head of patriotic foundations which among other things manage not indifferent movable and immovable assets, and the Hasan-Mariani family, Marquesses of Serfignano, the majority shareholders of the mega conglomerate HM Group. Ilario Campano was also present, the first shareholder of a consortium of private buyers who just last year took over AUDISS shares held by the Ministry of Finance and they then chose Campano as new CEO. Marquess Mariani and Mr Campano were among the many big names of the growing Istalian economy interested in participating to the party to make new contacts among the kalopian presidential staff and following entourage eager to have contacts in Kalopia because ready to invest heavily abroad.
