FAMILY PARTY: "WE BELIEVE IN THIS COALITION"

MAY 4714, ROMULA

From our own correnspondent, Frederica Tronso.

The leader of the OFF Ministers in the current Government, Machello Trigani, said during an informal party meeting in Milona (Padagna), that his party is very satisfied with the results of the ANI,FP, OFF coalition Government. Working together with our partners has been very constructive. The Minister of Internal Affairs told partymembers that Primo Ministro Daabas invested much time in creating friendly and transparant working conditions between all his ministers. "His teambuilding is making our cooperation more and more solid. After the defence and health reforms, we are even talking about more changes. Of course the left will talk about our agenda as ultra conservative but it will deliver more freedom of choice for our citizens", Tragini was heard saying. Asked about what he meant by that, the Minister refused to respond. Sources close to the OFF partyleadership stated that they hoped for more religious freedom but the party was not quite clear if the other coalition parties are willing to support this very important OFF policy change. "Machello might get into trouble if he fails to get some sort of reform on the religion side in order to please the powerfull "deeply believers" faction within the party", an anonymous partyofficial told your correspondent. It appears that tensions are rising within OFF partyranks between the pragmatic and the fundamentalist factions about staying in the current coalition. Mr Trigani was not available to comment on this issue.

Government approves the new modernization program for the Armed Forces
Prime Minister Dabaas praise the collective pragmatism showed by the majority: "A stable and solid government for the Nation and good policies for the people"

12 June 4714

ROMULA - Minister of Defence Luisa Monteri few months ago presented the new modernization program for the Armed Forces and today the Ddl is about to be approved by the National Assembly.

The program for the Defense has been one of the most important issue dealed by this Government which members entusiastically agreed to proceed with this important measure.

The modernization program will provide for a new generation multirole jet fighter which will be employed by the Air Force and by the Navy; a new generation of SSBN nuclear submarine which will raplace the old Vittorioso Class alongside a new ballistic missile; the Army finally will start a research and development program called "Soldato del Futuro" ("Soldier of the Future") aimed to develop new highly technologically advanced combat devices for the soldiers of the Army.

Prime Minister Ghassan Dabaas, after the press conference alongside his Defense Minister, responded to the questions of the press about the status of the Government team:

I think the statements made by our cabinet's colleagues are enough to show how this government is proving to be solid and to be able to work in harmony to propose policies beneficial for our people.

Every members of the Government showed maturity and pragmatism, something of which our Nation was in need after several years of instability due to several recent party dissolutions which involved also a really historical party like the National Conservative Party and leftist parties like Res Publica too.

Soon, the nationalization of the healthcare monopoly will be totally reversed and soon we will offer more freedom of choice to our citizens in several matters. The debate within the government proceed always with the maximum harmony to reach the most suitable solutions and personally I think that this government will have no issue in finishing its term and I'm sure the citizens will recognize our efforts the next elections.

"When you collaborate with the extreme right, you run the risk of being absorbed by it, as has happened to the ANI"
We speak with Nadia Strada, newly elected General Secretary of the Left Bloc

Image
The recently elected General Secretary of the Left Bloc when she was just a relatively unknown deputy in the National Assembly

Many militants of the Left Bloc rose yesterday with surprising news: Nadia Strada had been elected new secretary general of the Left Bloc in substitution of Piermarco Carabetta after almost 30 years in office, and had done so by defeating the favorite clear in all the pools: the former Minister of Science and Technology (4697-4700) and Education and Culture (4700-4713), Alano Belle.

With more than 65% of the vote of the militancy, the architect and national deputy for 8 years has devastated her political rival, especially between the militancy of Trivendito and Mezzodiurno, the two most powerful federations of the party, where support for her candidacy has exceeded 80%.

The new secretary general of the Left Bloc will now lead a party that struggles to recover after more than 15 continuous years in power that have worn him out as a representative of "change." Now, Mrs. Strada has the opportunity to return her party to the center of the political debate as a counterweight to the conservative government.

Interviewer: A pleasure to have you here with us.

Nadia Strada: The pleasure is mine.

I: First of all, what was your reaction when you were announced as the new General Secretary of the Left Bloc, defeating the favorite of all odds, former Minister Alano Belle?

N.S: This was a sane competition between Alano and me. We both did our best, but it seems like the militants agreed more with my concept of what our party should fight for. If I have to be honest, I was not expecting my victory, but I can’t deny I felt very proud when I won, especially with all that amount of support, that shows that our militants want change. This is even greater in Trivendito and Mezzodiurno, where we have the biggest amount of voters and in both cases, my candidature won.

I: For years, you have been one of the most critical voices within the Left Bloc about governing with the Populists. Do you continue to maintain the same position now that you are the General Secretary of your party and, therefore, the candidate for Prime Minister, and perhaps you will need their support to get to govern?

N.S: I said it privately on numerous occasions to Piermarco [Carabetta], and my position on this subject is well known. If the only way for the Left Bloc to achieve power is to renounce its main ideals and become more "moderate", perhaps it is best to consolidate as an opposition party and build a stronger social base that allows for a greater future support to apply our ideas and proposals.

I: That is to say, you don't consider the governments of Piermarco Carabetta to have been good for the Istalian society.

N.S: Nothing further from reality. I believe that significant progress was made in many areas, but it is also true that if we had greater social support, we might have been able to promote greater and more ambitious changes than those we achieved with the coalition we had.

I: But does not democracy and politics consist precisely in dialogue with the different, and reach points of common agreement to improve the lives of others?

N.S: Yes and no. That is a very simplistic view of what politics and democracy means. Politics exists so that we, as social beings, find a form of organization that adapts to our complex capacities, and that allows the correct development of the societies we build. And democracy is, within these imperfect societies, an imperfect but effective form of social coexistence. Within the existing political systems, all of them imperfect, democracy is the least harmful. However, I do not consider that in Istalia we live in democracy.

I: Can you extend more in that vision? Don't you think Istalia is a democracy?

N.S: [Laughs] I hope you don't get me wrong, but they have sold us an idea of what democracy is that does not correspond to its initial meaning, so many millennia ago. First, because we have Emperor. That serves to nullify any definition of democracy that we want to apply to our nation. A figure not elected by the people, not subject to constant or at least periodic scrutiny, above the laws of our nation and with authority over the armed forces cannot correspond to a nation that wants to be defined as democratic. But beyond that, the truth is that not even our political system adapts to what a classical democracy is. To be so, political representatives should be chosen at random among all citizens of legal age, and what they should do is legislate on those ideas that the people propose. It is obvious that our current political system does not work that way. But that does not mean that it is not effective, or that it is not useful to help our fellow citizens.

I: Does that mean that you will not ask for the votes in favor of the Populists if it is the only way to create an alternative government to the current conservative government?

N.S: Well, first it should be noted that the Populists are currently being part of that conservative government. I know that Piermarco already warned them against that decision but obviously, they are a different political party from ours and therefore they make their own decisions. We certainly regret that the extreme right has been legitimized in this way, that we now see how it becomes again the first political force in our nation after relatively neutralized years thanks to the political laundering that the ANI has made them deciding to rely on them to reach power. The problem is that when you collaborate in this way with the extreme right, an extreme right that has already shown on many occasions its hidden face that aims to cut back on numerous social advances reached by consensus, you run the risk of being absorbed by it, as has happened with half of the ANI voters, mostly.

I: Is that a no?

N.S: It is impossible to anticipate the events that can occur after various elections, but today, there are no conditions to govern again with the Populists. Too bad, but the situation is what it is.

I: How will you now manage the media focus of politics after having been practically an unknown deputy for the past 8 years, and what are the ideological master lines that your leadership will bring to the Left Bloc?

N.S: Well, I would not say that I have been an unknown deputy. I think I have given enough war in the National Assembly [laughs]. After many years as an architect, one gets used to dealing with a wide variety of clients who ask you for the most eccentric things and you have to debate them reasonably. I do not think that politics is so different from that, and I will put all my knowledge now that I will be more present in the media so that this continues. As for the lines of action of the party from now on, it will be mainly based on a "pragmatic reideologization", as I would call it. That is, to give priority to the ideology of the party than to the possibility of reaching governments. This, above all, can also be important to achieve power in the regions, where the election of governors is by direct vote, and after building that social base without moving from our ideology, try to achieve power at the national level by joining the forces of the left. That is going to be my purpose. And above all, be the whip and the retaining wall before this liberticidal government.

I: It has been a very instructive conversation, thank you very much for your time.

N.S: It is always a pleasure.

The Left Bloc wins the elections but renounces to form government
The emergence of two new parties precludes an alternative of progressive change to the current government, which falls to percentage lows

Image
Governor-elect Egeo Azzara after electoral results that gave the Left Bloc back the Governorship of Trivendito

The conservative government of Istalia - formed by the ANI, the Populists and the far-right OFF - falls to minimal results after the last elections. After finishing the electoral scrutiny, the current government has barely received 28.32% of the votes, which leaves them in an absolute minority in the new National Assembly with only 195 of the 681 seats.

On the contrary, in the first litmus test for the new Secretary General of the Left Bloc, Nadia Strada, the party has collected more than 22% of the votes, 156 seats and has again become the first force of Parliament, therefore winning its Presidency.

In total, however, the leftist forces - BdS, ReL, S&D - also do not get the absolute majority to form a leftist alternative by just obtaining 287 seats, a number that is still almost 100 seats higher than the one harvested by the Current government. The key to the next government lies therefore in two new parties that have stormed these elections: the conservative National Liberal Democratic Party, with 17% and 111 seats; and the neo-fascist Istalian Social Movement, which has collected almost 13% and 88 seats. Both will therefore have the key to the next government of Istalia.

After knowing the results, the new secretary general of the Left Bloc appeared before the media to celebrate the comeback of her party after these elections, where he has gone from 9 million to 13 million votes, almost 50% more, and has reached the first position again after falling to the fourth one in the last elections.

Mrs. Strada has made fun of the current government, citing the statements of the ANI Prime Minister, in which he said he was sure that "the citizens will recognize our efforts the next elections."

"Without a doubt the citizens have recognized the great effort made by this government to impoverish their lives and destroy the social fabric that makes up our country. And they have been rewarded with a tremendous electoral decline that was not expected even in their worst nightmares, but that they are well deserved for their collaboration with the extreme right. The ANI and the Populists have legitimized the extreme right and despite this, they have not even succeeded in getting the citizens to value their efforts, and they have preferred to look for better alternatives. Problem? Thanks to the fact that they have opened the ban, we now have a party that openly declares itself as neo-fascist - and that I am sure that the ANI would have no problem in agreeing with if they could continue a single month in the government that way. - the one that has been legitimized and citizens consider as a good and feasible alternative. "

A few hours later, Mrs. Strada tweeted against the government with similar statements, accusing the government of being "tremendously irresponsible in giving wings to fascism," saying that both the OFF and the MSI are "monsters that must be contained and neutralized, and not reliable allies ", as well as to announce that, despite having became the first force after the elections, her party renounces to form a government because there is " no real possibility of forming a leftist government. "

Mrs. Strada words in social networks

Following these statements, the next steps are expected from the other political leaders, who have not yet pronounced after these election results.

The government of Trivendito will continue with Porta's consultation
New Governor Egeo Azzara announces after his election that he will seek to prepare the consultation about the imperial institution

Egeo Azzara, the new Governor of Trivendito, has announced that he will continue with the plans of his predecessor in office, Leo Porta, to hold a consultation with the citizens of his region about his assessment of the imperial institution and their preference among monarchy or republic .

In his social profile, Mr. Azzara has said that "the voice of the people must be heard", and that is where he has proceeded to announce that he will continue with the consultation, just a few hours after being elected as Governor of Trivendito.

Image

Egeo Azzara, former mayor of the small town where he was raised and belonging to the communist and anti-capitalist current of the Left Bloc, thus returns to his party the government of the most important region for them, which provides them with the best results, and does so by getting an overwhelming absolute majority (81 seats of 137) that will allow him to pass virtually any regional law without the need for more support.

"The people of Trivendito know what I stand for. I have never hidden my ideals, and I will never hide that I am a Republican to the core and that I despise this anachronistic institution that intends to govern us without the citizens having the ability to elect or take away the office they hold. It seems extremely undemocratic. "

Mr. Azzara has also used to announce his government as a counterweight to the policies of the central government - the current conservative government has not reached even 20% of the votes in this region - and has asked the rest of the political parties to exercise a sanitary cord against the Istalian Social Movement.

"We are talking about a party that has declared itself openly neo-fascist. This has become something serious. And that is why my government intends to pass in these first months a law that explicitly prohibits the exhaltation of fascism in this region. Because we are a modern and multicultural society, open and progressive. "

PDLN PROPOSES RIGHT WING GOVERNMENT
August 4th 4720

Image
Expected Prime Minister Virone Tranchina

Romula: The National Liberal Democratic Party or PDLN has proposed a new right wing government with PDLN chairman Virone Tranchina at its head. After the PDLN proposed a Grand coalition at first, aiming to create a broad coalition with different opinions to satisfy a majority of the population, the party has now, after the vote on the Grand coalition failed, proposed a new coalition including Right wing and nationalist party's. One of the party's included is the National Socialist Movement. A Neo-fascist party which is seen by many as far-right. PDLN chairman and prospected Prime Minister Virone Tranchina stated that while he understands the dangers of fascism he had no other option then to propose this coalition as the Grand coalition was expected to fail. The new government will include 4 party's, two of which were in the old coalition and two of which are new party's.

The PDLN and Tranchina have made it clear that they intend on improving the nations economy and military as well as focus on Istalia's space program. They underlined the fact that the PDLN will look for pragmatic solutions and moderate right wing policies to the many challenges and that "The PDLN will do what it can to stress with its coalition partners that radical measures are not the way forward"

The new coalition is expected to pass in the coming months.

Empress summons the Prime Minister and the Presidents of the National Assembly, Constitutional Court and Supreme Tribunal: "We shall respect and enforce the Law!"
Her Majesty underlines the veritabe nature of the Istalian State as a Defensive Democracy questioning the extremism and the anti-democratic stance of many current political parties

7 December 4720

ROMULA - In the aftermath of the failure of the PDNL's efforts to form a large coalition government comprising the nation's major parties, the Empress convened the confirmed Prime Minister Virone Trachina, now leading a government decidely shifted to the right, and with him the Presidents of the National Assembly, the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court.

Accompanied by the Prince of the Crown Tommaso Hassan, the Empress held the senior state officials in a private meeting for several hours before instructing the Palace press office to issue the following statement:

Her Most Excellent Imperial Majesty the Empress,
with this official communication She makes known to the Nation that Her Majesty wanted to meet the leaders of the Powers of the State to express her doubts and concerns about the presence into the Parliament and in the Government of exponents of political parties that not only are an expression of radical and extremist ideologies but promote openly to bring down the democratic institutions and order of the Istalian state.

It was with disappointment and dismay that Her Majesty underlined how some of the most fundamental Laws aimed at defending the Democratic Culture and the Institutions of Istalia were somehow ignored and not applied.
These are Laws which question the very legality of the action and political initiative of those political parties, denying and condemning all those forces that work to subvert the democratic regime and the pluralistic character of the nation.

In light of those prerogatives reserved to the Head of State in order to defend the Democratic Institutions and Freedoms of the Istalian Nation, the Empress urged the Judiciary of the State to start a formal investigation of the parties involved and then shed light on the shortcomings that allowed legally unsuitable people and parties to compete for elected public offices.

It is with reluctance that the Empress opted to proceed in this direction and thus intervening in a such manner on the national politics, but by relying on some of the most fundamental prerogatives reserved to the Head of State and being bound by Her Oath and Her conscience to uphold certain principles, Her Majesty was unable to withdraw from acting, worried by the rising extremism wave that is affecting the nation and that could threaten its democratic and pluralistic foundations.

Although the press release did not openly indicate the parties concerned, further statements by the Palace removed any doubt about their identity: the mentioned party were the "Istalian Social Movement" and "Rosso e Libero!", both openly aimed at subverting the democratic order in favor of a fascist-like corporatist regime the former and a metzist-like proletarian dictatorship the latter.

The statements and the initiative by Quattroregni Palace obviously placed the Prime Minister Trachina in an extremely difficult position since the Istalian Social Movement is part and supports his new government and obviously now a response is expected from Antinori Palace (Office of the Prime Minister ) as well as from the rest of the headquarters of the Istalian parties.

Apparently, therefore, the ever increasing political-ideological conflict that is mounting in the Nation for about two decades precisely because of the multiplication of extremist parties has finally pushed the Crown to intervene in the debate, remembering and emphasizing how contemporary Istalia has been reborn and refounded as a veritable Defensive Democracy equiped with clear legal tools aimed to hit those against the democratic and pluralistic regime of the Nation.

The Empress, however, wanted for the moment to simply urge the Justice to initiate the necessary investigations and use the legal tools available to define the legal status of the parties involved, but she wanted to make it known that she will closely and carefully follow the evolution of the situation assisted, given her advanced age, by the Prince of the Crown.
Despite being almost 88 year old, Empress Michela surprised a large part of public opinion by showing an uncommon determination and will for a woman of her age who, however, as often declared by the Empress for some years now, can count on the decisive assistance of his son.

About the political repercussions, tomorrow the Empress will meet again the President of the National Assembly to whom will rely the responsability to manage the reaction of the political forces as well as, probably, the veritable existence of the current Government.

PRIME MINISTER TRANCHINA "WE REMAIN CONFIDENT ABOUT THE CURRENT COALITION"
February 18th 4721

Image
Prime Minister Tranchina during a meeting with the press

Romula: Newly designated Prime Minister Tranchina of the PDLN has publicly stated he "remains confident about the current governing coalition". After he was summoned to the Empress together with other high ranking government officials the prime minister talked to the press, stating that he "sees no reason to rethink the current governing coalition".

During the formation of the current cabinet we made it clear to all parties that extremist proposals are not the way forward and will not be supported by the PDLN, while the Istalian Social Movement is a self described far-right fascist party it has not yet proposed major far-right proposals nor has it threatened our democracy yet. We believe that every party regardless of described ideology should have a chance to prove themselves a worthy and cooperative partner before they are ruled out. The PDLN will keep the government in place unless a party in it threatens the rights of Istalians or our democracy, which we do not expect will happen.

Prime Minister Tranchina also revealed that his party will soon propose several bills aimed at further growing the Istalian economy and to expand Istalia's space program.

Trivenditan Parliament approves the referendum law
The proposal, which gets passed thanks to the absolute majority of the regional governor's party, will allow the consultation on the citizens' preference between monarchy or republic

Image

In the plenary session this morning, the Trivenditan parliament has approved the regional law of referendums, which among other things will allow the holding of the non-binding consultation on the form of State that the citizens of the region prefer.

The regional governor, the blocist Egeo Azzara, thus takes another step in his promise to carry out the consultation in the region, which is supposed not to be binding.

The proposal has come forward thanks to the votes in favor of the party of Mr. Azzara, the regional federation of Il Blocco, Sinistra Trivendita, which after the last elections holds 81 of the 137 seats of the Chamber and is also the most powerful federation within the national party. In the new law passed, it is established that the regional government may carry out non-binding referendums in relation to any matter of social importance for citizens, provided that more than 50% of the deputies of the regional Assembly request it and be approved by absolute majority.

After the approval of the law, Governor Egeo Azzara has appeared euphoric before the media to explain the next steps to follow.

"With the approval of this law we take another step in our promise to hold a non-binding consultation on the opinion of citizens in the manner organized by the headquarters of our State. Mr. [Leo] Porta - former governor of Trivendito belonging also to Sinistra Trivendita - promised to do it but unfortunately wasn't able to retain the neccesary majority in Parliament. Now, I take his place and I will continue with his promise. "

In response to questions from the press, Mr. Azzara has not rejected the possibility of holding a referendum - in this case, binding - on the possibility of officially declaring the Republic of Trivendito.

As happened after the approval of the proposal for referendum, in the absence of a pronouncement on this last movement from the government of Trivendito, a motion of censure against the Governor would require an absolute majority of the National Assembly, something that could be feasible, but in any case it would only allow Sinistra Trivendita to place another regional deputy as Governor.

AISA ANNOUNCES CONSTRUCTION OF NEW SPACE EXPLORATION CRAFT
December 13th 4721

Image
Prime Minister Tranchina meeting with current AISA director Lamani

Romula: After the Space Exploration and Operations Act passed the Imperial National Assembly the Istalian space agency AISA suddenly gained a one time sum of 1 billion LOD to invest in its operations. After discussions with the ministry of Science and Technology, who had to hand the new funds to the agency, the two institutions came up with a plan to develop a new space exploration module currently named "ISEM-1". This new module, which will enter construction in one month, would cost around 1.1 billion LOD and would be send into deep space, sending back images to Terra and analysing particles in deepspace to be studied. Another task of the spacecraft will be to possibly discover new planets undetectable by Terran telescopes. The additional 100 million LOD needed for the project will be financed by the regular budget of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

After the Ministry and AISA had agreed on where to spend the newly aquired funds on the director of AISA, Gabriel Lamani, met with Prime Minister Tranchina who wanted to be personally informed on the plans. Tranchina and his PDLN party had put a emphasize on space exploration and possibly more in their electoral program, believing it could benefit Istalia greatly in new technology and possibly economic benefits. The newly created CSED, which was also formed under the SEO Act, has now also formally been instructed by the Minister of Science and Technology and Prime Minister to actively research possible future missions that AISA could embark on. The Commission already stated that preliminary research suggested that a international project with different agencies would be a big plus for the Istalian efforts in space and the SEA Act also facilitates this with Article 2 explicitly saying that Istalia should work with its international partners.

The ISEM project is set to launch next month, with the ISEM-1 finalizing construction at the end of 4723.
