Morandi unexpectedly announces his withdrawal from politics: Hadan Al-Maktum appointed Interim Spokesperson by the National Directory
The Radical candidate for the Presidency of the last elections finds himself managing a party strongly polarized around Morandi: "to concentrate on the reforms supported by the Marraists is the way to depersonalize the party"

ROMULA - Welcomed by the general surprise this morning came the resignation of Alessandro Morandi from all the offices of the Radical Alliance and therefore the announcement of his definitive withdrawal from politics.
After almost two decades at the head of the party, one of the most controversial leaders of the Radicals, an advocate of the liberal shift of the last decade, has finally decided to pass the reins of the party entrusting it in the hands of the National Directory.

The Party, and the Directorate in the first place, however, suffered from excessive personalization, commented some external opponents who criticized the decision of the Directory to appoint Hadan Al-Maktum without even taking the time to consult the representatives of the various regional and local sections. The opponents of Morandi, who after resigning have strongly resumed to make their voices heard, claim that the Directory has chosen the radical candidate for the Presidency of the Republic during the last elections still on the advice of Morandi who for some years had taken under the his wing Al-Maktum, being the latter close to the liberal extraparliamentary movements that Morandi had managed to bring to the party during his years of leadership.

Al-Maktum, still a bit 'in the shadows under Morandi, is a former journalist, well-known until ten years ago as the face of the news of Globo5, the flagship broadcaster on the clear TV of the giant TerraMedia, but also as a founding member of Liberi! extraparliamentary movement, founded by young Istalian entrepreneurs to support liberalization policies in the economic field. Al-Maktum, in fact, although he has started his journalistic career, has in fact founded together with some Sarregnan entrepreneurs also an online news platform that offers advanced podcast and online tv services. Taking advantage of a certain charisma and his fame the public, in a few years he made Liberi! an association formed by almost 25 thousand entrepreneurs from all over Istalia that Alessandro Morandi successfully tried to bring closer to the party and succeeded in convincing Al-Maktum to join the Radical Alliance.

Al-Maktum, faced with the criticism of excessive personalization of the party, has been careful not to criticize his political mentor, stating rather that now the party must really concentrate on important reforms and definitively take the path of Marraism supported by Morandi, making it the party's central ideology and not the "tendency" of its leader. Just to point out the confirmation of the liberal positions adopted by the party has therefore decided to instruct several radical parliamentarians to present a series of draft laws designed to stimulate the private sector and liberalize various economic sectors. Moreover, Al-Maktum has shown its closeness to the Libertarian Collective, declaring that in front of the Congress that will be called to elect the new leadership, he will propose as next Secretary of the National Directory Melissa El Salefi, daughter of the current President of the General Assembly of the World Congress and former Foreign Minister of Istalia, and leader of the Libertarian Collective, the longest lasting wing inside the party, also present within the predecessor parties of Radical Alliance, namely Liberty and Progress and the Istalian Social Liberal Party and which was one of the main wings of Liberty and Progress under the leadership of Filippo Marra.

Image
One of the several refugees camps in north Trivendito and Padania

Paramilitaries assault refugee camp in Trivendito and the Army responds bluntly: 7 Solentians and 22 paramilitaries among the victims
The situation in the north of the Peninsula is getting hotter, with illegal militiamen and paramilitaries perpetuating more and more acts of violence against Solentian refugees against whom criticism is also raised by the many Majatrans in Padagna and Trivendito

PADUA - During the night, in the town of Padua, in the north of Trivendito, one of the largest refugees camps organized by the Army was attacked by paramilitaries and far-right militiamen who in addition to open fire against Solentianss with semi-automatic weapons, also launched several molotovs burning numerous tents.

Seven Solentians have fallen victim to the assault, including a minor, a 17-year-old boy, but the a victims toll could have been even heavier if it wasn't for the sudden intervention of the Army that responded without half measures to the assault of the militia opening immediatly the fire on the assailants who after less than ten minutes, and 27 people left on the ground, escaped in the surrounding woods. 22 paramilitaries died under the shots of the men of the army while the others, plus 4 others captured during the night, were transported to the Penitentiary of Verunia on the disposal of the Public Prosecutor of Padua who ordered their detention pending trial.

The situation for the Solentians in the north of Istalia is becoming very complex, also because, far-right paramilitaries a part, it seems that tensions are also emerging with the numerous Majatrans of Istalia, mainly concentrated precisely in the two northern regions of the Peninsula.
The Majatrans, according to what was declared by some local representatives, would seem to have accepted the appeal of other far-right groups who have for some time warned the country against the Solentian threat. Among these, in particular, Lucio della Fiamma, President of the White Flame National Association, who for some time it seems to have approached several associations of istalian majatrans. In fact, the largest Istalian ethnic minority fears that the Solentians may pose a threat to the high level of integration achieved between Istalians and Majatrans. In the past, there is to underline it, the Majatrans were pointed out and criticized as collaborators of the Solentian regimes of the fallen Quanzar Kingdoms established three times in Istalia, and it is also for this reason that during the first periods of the Fourth Republic many preferred to emigrate (and this also explains the decline of the majatran ethnic component in Istalia compared to the years previous the establishment of the current Republic). Fearing repercussions on the relationship between istalians and majatrans, the latter seem to be distancing themselves from all positions aimed at helping Solentians who find themselves increasingly isolated and even threatened.

PND Whip Niccolo Nachiavelli: „We are sorry for their loss, but may I just say: I told you so!“
PND Leader Anna Verde: „We will NOT support any coalition, unless immigration and integration laws are changed.“
Image
After resigning as Minister of Defence, Anna Verde had a lot to say to the new legislative chamber

After the tragedy in the refugee camp in Trivendito, all politicians send their condolences to the victims. However, some condolences were very back handed and Nachiavelli, the popular PND Whip, was the prime example of that as he even had the audacity to initially support these paramilitaries. After the election, he had the following to say:
We are sorry for the refugees loss, and we are sorry to the families of the men in these paramilitary organizations. However, it proves what I have been saying this whole time: the Solentians must go. They integrate poorly with our Quanzari minority, they do not speak Istalian. They live off our taxes and now due to them blood has been spilled! I have been supportive of these although illegal, yet righteous paramilitary organizations, but the police did the right thing. There is a thin line between protecting Istalians, and unnecessarily attacking Solentians which have not provoked this explicitly. Hence, the police did the right thing to prosecute these perpetrators immediately. Nonetheless, a lot needs to be done. From the legalization of paramilitaries to aid the police which is severely underfunded to the deportation of illegal aliens. A wall on the Solentian border is not necessary yet as the current Solentian government is reviewing our treaty proposal, but should the results be negative, the wall needs to come.

Meanwhile, the PND Leader Anna Verde and former Minister of Defence has drawn conclusions from the elections and from the previous legislature as a whole:
The PND has not lost seatsin these elections. Luckily. However, we have lost the governor race in both our stronghold Padagna and Mezzodiurno. Nor have we gained any seats. Nor have we won the presidential elections. Our only victory was in Sarregna, massive respect to our team there. Now, what does this tell us about the previous legislature and the future? Well, since I have resigned from the Ministry of Defence due to the loss of subsidies for the industries, I do not have to filter my words. Our party has 3 stances for the upcoming legislature, which HAVE to be in the coalition agreement, in order for us to join one or support one externally. Although the external suport is more negotiable. 1. The military and Interior Ministries get more funding as our police and armed forces for the first time in centuries lag behind severely other continental powers like Vanuku and the Solentian crisis was evidence of it. 2. A new tax and budget are proposed which allocate our resources more efficiently and which ENSURE that the sales tax for essential goods does not exceed 2%! 3. If the Solentian crisis has shown one thing, its the fact that our immigration AND integration laws need readjustments. They simply do not allow for massive, instantaneous immigration that we have experienced in the previous year. Our integration systems need to react faster and better, but also deportation and border controls need to be in our arsenal to control illegal immigration and to prevent illegal aliens from ursurping our country. Meanwhile, legal immigration also needs to have more security checks but needs to have the bureaucracy reduced.

Now you know what it takes to have the PND as a coalition partner, honorable delegates. We will not stand down. Long live Istalia!

After the speech, many on the left criticized Verde‘s opportunism to push her agenda as these proposals are „radical“ and many believe Verde is exploiting the stalemate which occurred as a result of the recent elections and seat allocation which almost requires the PND approval to get a majority caninet approved.

45th century really difficult for Istalia whose effects have deeply affected the country
The Zardic Institute of International Relations, as usual, is ready to publish the status of the nations of the world on the international scene: Istalia economically and strategically downgraded

ROMULA - The difficulties encountered by Istalia during the 45th century have been countless and the country has suffered substantially. The effects of this long century full of challenges and difficulties have long been felt both on the economic level both on the geopolitical level.
Shortly, as usual for about a couple of centuries, the major international rating agencies as well as the various global geopolitics institutes, first of all the Zardic Institute of International Relations, will release the official ranking on the status of the nations of the world on the economic and then military-strategic level.

As many have been expeting for a long time, the position of Istalia will be reduced: the economic recession resulting from the notorious "Black Thursday" and therefore the strong crisis of the Majatran Alliance and then the ephemeral Union of the Majatran Nations were all factors that hit moreover, the Istalian economy, in addition, several risky choices by some well-known multinationals, together with the general crisis, have contributed to a considerable contraction of the economy both internally and internationally.

In geopolitical and strategic terms, on the other hand, the turbulent decades that have passed through Majatra in this century have forced Istalia to concentrate on its own continent, which has caused a generalized global disengagement.
However, said some analysts in Istalia, the country still continues to maintain different bases abroad and above all a significant arsenal of war.
Others, however, underline how the country is keeping difficult its military apparatus, a voice of expenditure that has never been affected by any revision in the last decades but that has not seen important investments.
On the other hand, the most patriotic analysts always say, Istalia has shown that it has maintained its authoritative role on the international level and the election of Ibrahim El Salefi to the Presidency of the GA of the World Congress is a clear sign of the Istalian Influence. Finally, some even criticize the Zardic Institute in the light of the conflict that saw several Majatran nations confront Zardugal, saying that the organization can no longer be reliable and that, actually, Istalia still has full capacity to project its strength, as demonstrated during the West Majatran War and then the recent openings of new military bases in Lodamun and Dolgava. The naval base of Lodamun, in particular, reinforces the istalian military presence in the northern hemisphere.

In light of this, many wonder if the next governments of Istalia will be able to raise again the fate of the country that, moreover, is also losing its permanent seat in the Security Council of the World Congress.

Family members of the killed paramilitaries bring the involved military to the Court
The Public Prosecutor of Milona opened a dossier against the men led by Captain Marco Raniu who intervened in defense of the Solentian refugee camp in Padua

MILONA - It's official: the Public Prosecutor of Milona has accepted the request of the lawyers of the families of the paramilitaries killed during the assault on the Refugee Camp of Padua to summon the soldiers of the platoon intervened to oppose the militia and especially the then commander on the field, Captain Marco Raniu.

The news was greeted with dismay in most of Istalia and the Chief of Staff of the Army Enrico Lamenti in person has commented on the event:

It's a shame! What other words to use? Our brave men, who risked their lives to save hundreds, who responded to the fire of criminal murderers who were members of illegal organizations, dragged before justice because they have done their duty! It's an unheard-of thing, really unheard of! Is this the thanksgiving for those who risk their lives for the country? Just think that a public prosecutor can accept such a request... it's shameful, shameful!

When interviewed by journalists, Gianluigi Severiani, the Public Prosecutor of Milona, he defends himself by saying that in Istalia the compulsory principle of prosecution applies that requires the Public Prosecutor to exercise the prosecution whenever there is any news of a crime. However, he said that he would try to avoid closing the deal in court by saying that the lawyers of the injured party, the families of the militiamen killed, would also be willing to find an out-of-court settlement, or compensation for losses. However, given that the Chief of Staff has also reiterated that he will oppose any compensation paid by the Army menacing to resign, such an agreement can hardly be found.

A large part of the judicial authorities, however, reassure that Raniu and his men can hardly be condemned and that no court will come to deliberate against them.
But this has not been enough to calm the hearts of many nationalist and far-right supporters and organizations which have pointed their finger at the excessive securitarianism of the Istalian legal system seen as responsible for such "involution of reason". However, criticisms also come from most of the most heated opponents of paramilitary organizations, primarily Radical Alliance whose leader, Hadan Al-Maktum, said they will be ready to assist Raniu and his men even economically to cope with what is perceived as a real injustice.

Downgrading of Istalia: unstable stock exchanges and uncertainity for the future
The reactions to the next downgrade of Istalia didn't take long with the confidence of investors, consumers and entrepreneurs that significantly drop promising a new economic contraction

ROMULA - No disastrous financial crisis on the horizon but a fair general contraction of the economy will not be avoidable, say the leading experts who declare that we should expect a slight increase in unemployment and a reduction in industrial production.

As many expected, the effects of the imminent downgrading in the main world rankings of the country began to be felt: investor confidence was first affected, so the negative signs affected most of the Istalian securities, contributing to an increase in instability of national stock exchanges.
Soon, the leading experts say, we must expect a certain slowdown in industrial production and at the same time of aggregate demand and therefore consumption.

Perhaps the only but very important positive note, the effects of the Large Public Works and especially those related to the Motorways of the Sea that contributes and will certainly help mitigate the effects of this economic slowdown, although many warn the Government by saying that now these Great Works are nearing completion and that to face this new shaky economic situation, further future investments and stimuli from the public sector will surely be necessary.

But not everyone agrees with this latest analysis: the most liberal schools of thought are on the rise, instead pushing for deregulation and a disengagement of the state so that the private sector could be greatly stimulated. The main supporters of the liberal positions, in fact, underline how the reform in the private sense of Health care proposed by Green Alternative during the last parliamentary term, which until almost the day of the final vote seemed on the verge of being approved, had already stimulated a remarkable "cheer" on the markets then waned following the contrary vote of the Chamber.

However, the country seems still stuck in a political crisis not indifferent while criticism is being launched against the President of the Republic Siro Sacca, accused of immobility and above all of having literally disappeared after opening the doors to the Solentians, as if he did not want to take responsibility for his actions. Despite the reconfirmation during the last elections to date, the President's popularity is close to historical lows. If he fails to present a new government soon, this will not contribute to his position.

Meanwhile, generalized demonstrations against the political class have begun to appear regularly in the major cities of the country: they accuse the political class of immobility and failed to cope with the crises that have hit the country, but many others are instead directed against the policy of reception of the Solentians. Most of these last demonstrations are organized by nationalist and far-right groups but also by associations of the Majatrans of Istalia.

PND rides the populist wave!
Anna Verde: „The military and Mr Raniu did the right thing.“

As the Leader of the men protecting the Solentian refugees, Mr Raniu was taken to court by the families of the fallen illegal paramilitary men. The Istalian justice system allows for that to happen, although the public opinion and the law are almost completely on Mr Raniu‘s side. Nonetheless, upset, he has briefly noted to the press:
Even if I win, I should not be here in the first place.

Meanwhile, as right wing populism is on the rise, the PND is at a high right now, with recent polls suggesting, that partly due to the fall of the ULD popularity after letting the immigrants in and partly due to the PND‘s populist hardline stance on immigration, would elections be tomorrow, the PND would most likely win and some more optimistic polls even suggest that a conservative coalition of PdA-PND-1Ist may have even been possible. However, even without a majority, a new cabinet without the PND is practically unimaginable and according to reports, a centrist cabinet focussed on „rebuilding the nation“ will be introduced soon under PdA Premiership with PND, 1IST and AR as juinor partners.

This feeling of being untouchable has motivated PND Leader Anna Verde to say some rather controversial comments:
The country is at an all time low. Our economy is declining. Our military is falling apart. We are losing our permanent Security Council Seat. But most importantly, we are losing our national pride. The people are taking up arms against their own countrymen, and although we fully support Mr Raniu‘s actions, the blame for the tragedy lies not with the illegal paramilitary groups, which we believe in fact portray the most patriotic members of our society. The blame lies with the fact that we have thousands of Solentian migrants within our country which not only do not fit in with the rest of our glorious country, be it with the Quanzari minority or Istalian majority, but they have brought their problems with them. They need to be fed, clothed and protected, whilst our resources, both human and materialistic, are being used up. Istalians are working hard to feed themselves AND the Solentians. That cannot be. I am a little saddened that our Majatran Alliance Partners did not help us more actively, but most importantly I am saddened by our President, who we supported! And who after letting all of that happen, decided to devolve all of the problems to the Istalian people.

This tragedy is the result. We aim to correct all mistakes in the new cabinet to be established. If our demands will not be met, we will go into opposition and fight from there.

Verde‘s words resonate with a vast portion of the public, and what is even more interesting and that is a rare case in the liberal leaning Istalian political landscape, she is not alone. After all, the PdA and 1IST have all expressed their willingness for a stricter border control system and apparently the AR is also willing to hop on that wave of populist resurgence. The future of Istalia will most likely be even harder than the current political stalemate. And when politicians do not act, others may.

ULTIM'ORA: President Sacca committed suicide!
The exact motivations of the gesture are unknown, but the popular protests, the unrest in the north of the peninsula, the political stalemate and the criticism from the parties could have led the Head of State into a depressive spiral

ROMULA - The news shocked the nation: President of the Republic Siro Sacca was found dead in his apartments at Quattroregni Palace. The Office of the Presidency of the Republic stated that at 2.33 on Sunday night, a gunshot from the Presidential apartments alerted the guards who arrived in the President's bedroom only to see the tragic event. Not a message seems to have been left by the President to explain this extreme gesture.

The President in recent months, according to sources closer to the Head of State, seems to have develop a form of depression accompanied by a strong stress strain. The most logical conclusion would therefore seem that Sacca would not have been able to cope psychologically with the unstable and complicated situation in the country. The political stalemate has certainly occupied so much the President who has also continued to dedicate himself to several diplomatic trips to increase aid from abroad for the Solentian refugee crisis. The same crisis, however, had brought criticism to the President, by some considered as the responsable of the crisis because of his famous "Gesture of Peace".

The tragic death of the Head of State comes as a coup de grace for the 320th legislature and that will probably decree its early end with the parties that, in consultation with the President of the Senate, Head of State at Interim, the majority would seem oriented towards early elections. By Constitutional Law, however, in case of permanent impediment of the President of the Republic, the President of the Chamber of Deputies is obliged to decree early elections and the President of the Senate, Deputy President of the Republic, to sign the dissolution of the Chambers.
Moreover, following the death of President Sacca, his party, the Union of Liberal Democrats, collapsed as a victim of internal conflicts leaving a vacuum of power in the Chamber of 73 seats, an important number considering the number of parties. The power struggle between the various faces of the party in a few days finally led the party leadership to announce the dissolution of the enduring center-right party. Many of the members of the party have declared that they want to join the PND, historical ally at the right and close to the economic positions of the ULD, hoping to form a new liberal wing in the party led by Perla Vespa-Baldassare, current Minister of Justice, who leads the historic political dynasty of the Vespa-Baldassare to reunite in a single party.

President Al-Maktum with a bloody red ribbon to show his closeness to the victime of the regime in Barmenistan

President Al-Maktum: "Pragmatic" Government and warnings against the Consortium Alliance
The Head of State has presented a Government that will deal mainly with immigration and defense and has assured the support of the country to Vanuku

ROMULA - The new government was presented by the head of state this morning to the Parliament for the vote of confidence that should not be late to arrive. This is a government that is strongly moved to the right, with the Conservative Authoritarian Party, a real winner of the elections, gaining the relative majority of seats in the Chamber, at the head of the next Council of Ministers that will also see the participation of the Radical Alliance, One Istalia, the Farmers' Party and the National Democrats, incredibly came out of the elections as the party with fewer seats. According to the polls, many of the traditional supporters of the PND strongly radicalized during the refugee crisis and would have seen a more viable alternative in the CAP.

The Head of State, presenting the new executive, has specified that this Government will focus on the emergencies that is going through the country: migration policies and refugee crisis, the National Defense, in need of a great plan of renewal and modernization, economic stabilization. The President, interviewed later, said that it is a "Pragmatic" Government, with very specific objectives. Regarding the support of AR to a reform of the migration policy, traditionally against any limitation, the President, current radical leader, simply replied that a pragmatic approach is needed and that at this moment the country needs a reorganization of the matter.

Regarding the Foreign Policy, instead, the President intervened on the growing tension in western Majatra ensuring full support to Vanuku. The President of the Republic has in fact condemned in no uncertain terms the brutalities and murders perpetrated in Barmenistan by the new regime and therefore fully supported the President of the General Assembly of the World Congress Ibrahim El Salefi in adressing Deltaria as a hypocrisy and false regime: "Although Deltaria is promoting a Non-Interventionist policy and is condemning dozens of nations for "imperialism", it has already massively intervened in two nations, Narikaton and Barmenistan. Manosindus is proving to be the perfect Thaller prototype! False, Hypocrite and interested only to the Power!".
Indiscretions from the Office of the Presidency of the Republic would like the President almost constantly in contact with the Vanukean Government on one side and with the Defense Staff on the other.
