The Left Bloc opens a period of reflection after the elections
The progressive government of Istalia does not appear to be in danger, but there must be assignments on both sides so that Mrs. Mossadeq's second term can begin.Pietro Reggio during one of his visits to a children hospitalFinally, the Secretary General of the Left Bloc has broken his silence. He has done so after knowing the result of the last general elections, where the leftist party has fallen to the fourth position and has lost more than half a million votes, which has also resulted in the loss of more than 80 seats. Mr. Reggio, who has been Minister of Education and Culture during stage 4606-4610 and Minister of Science and Technology since then, during the successive governments of the Socialists, has finally addressed a few words to his party, after all the controversy raised by the Youth Blocco and the regional leaders in relation to the current coalition government with the Socialists and their lack of support.
While Mr. Reggio has acknowledged that the lack of support from the Socialists has been a key point to justify the loss of votes towards his party, he has also scolded members of the regional executives for showing the public "a divided party , who cares more for puritanisms than for bringing true social justice to all citizens. "
The atmosphere of the election night at the national headquarters of the party was tense. The Left Bloc aspired to a socialist sorpasso, but as the results were known, the atmosphere became more and more bleak. The first results to be known, in Silicia, returned to give a majority to the left, as in Padagna and Trivendito. However, both in Mezzodiurno and Sarregna, the right took power, leaving in both cases the Conservative National Party ahead of the Alleanza Nazionale per l'Impero. The biggest blow to the Left Bloc, however, came from the loss of the Padagnan government, where Minerva Totti has not only lost the position of governor in favor of the Socialists, but also that the regional federation has been in last position, obtaining only 10% of the votes, and at the moment it is the only regional government that is unknown if the Left Bloc is going to support the Socialists. The only good news of these elections came from obtaining the government of Trivendito, where Ovidio Cottrone has won more than 30% of the votes and will be the 4th governor of the region since the establishment of the Empire.
Despite the pessimistic atmosphere that was established at the headquarters of the party after knowing all the results, Mr. Reggio went to the balcony to deliver his speech.
"First of all, thanks to all the citizens who have voted for us. It is not the result that we would have liked to obtain, that is clear, and that is why now a period of reflection opens in which we will have to evaluate what has failed and how to solve it. Of course, we have an idea, but we will have to see to what extent each one is responsible for this. Without a doubt, one of the great reasons that has penalized us has been to publicly air the conflicts that our party should have reserved for private meetings because if not, what image are we transmitting to citizens, except for the distrust between us and lack of communication? This cannot be done in this way, and we must all do our part to prevent it from recurring again. However, I cannot hide the disappointment that I personally have taken during this term before the lack of support from the Socialists, who have not used more than our votes to carry out their pro placed in the National Assembly but when the time came to vote on our proposals, they joined their votes together with those on the right to reject them. Things are not done that way, and if there is a coalition government, there must be trust among its members. A few minutes ago I telephoned Mrs. Mossadeq to congratulate her on the electoral results her party has obtained, and we have agreed that the next legislature must be a consensus legislature in which the left has to show itself, despite the differences of two parties with different ideology, united against those who only want to push back our great nation. "
The bloker has also had words for the leader of the ANI, Mr. Cesare Domizi, who after the election result congratulated himself on the result of the right and the sinking of the Left Bloc, citing as one of the reasons "the defense of the back to a republican system. "
"I also want to take the opportunity to send a message to Mr. Domizi: I do not understand the reasons for his happiness: the right continues to lose the elections, again and again, and has not governed for decades in Istalia. It is thanks to that that citizens can live with dignity, and they show it again and again when they have to go to vote. So, instead of congratulating himself on the bad results of other parties, which shows very little political class, he should do like us and stop to evaluate what is which has led to his once-almighty party not winning elections, not even regional, for several times.
In relation to the issue of republicanism, Mr. Reggio has remained firm: he has affirmed that no matter how hard they try, they will not give up the republican principles on which the Left Bloc was founded, and has also thanked for this purpose the support of the recently founded Communist Party.
Governor of Trivendito sparks first controversy
Mr. Cottrone aims to take the same measure as Mrs. Totti did in Padagna regarding the Emperor's portraits. The recently elected new Governor of Trivendito, Ovidio Cottrone, during his inaugural speech in the regionThe new Governor of Trivendito, Ovidio Cottrone, has announced that he will follow in the footsteps of Minerva Totti during her term as governor of Padagna and will withdraw all representations of the Emperor's figure from all public buildings belonging to the regional government. The new governor has refused to make any statement about it.
