November 4623 (OOC: postdated)

ROMULA - Acquila Uno, the airliners of the Air Force put at the serviceof the Crown, landed late last night at Romula International Airport bringing Emperor Nicola back home at the end of his State Visit in Zardugal.
His Majesty had been invited by Emperor of Zardugal Felipe I just a few months after the death of Alessandro I, commented with sensitivity and warmth by the Zardic Monarch with whom Alessandro I had developed, among the others, a long lasting epistolary friendship, also united by a common passion for ancient history, while promoting greater relations with Fortreso.

During the State Visit, both the Emperors and the exponents of the two governments focused their efforts on left behind the previous international events involving Zardugal which, as said by Emperor Felipe, surely had impacted the diplomatic relations between the two countries to which, however, he added that it will be his commitment to improve preserve peace and solidarity in Majatra, believing in the strong friendship that Emperor Alessandro and him had built.

Emperor Nicola, leaving to Zardugal without Empress Josephine, appointed as Imperial Regent, attended alongside Emperor Felipe the Grand Parade in the Avenuo de la Imperio in Fortreso. Then the Emperors, through the large avenue, acclaimed by the crowd reached the Palacio de Zardugal, the official workplace of the Zardic Emperor, where Emperor Nicola signed the logbook as a visiting Head of State and then they move to the Palacio Imperial de la Bourvonne Complex where Emperor Felipe organized a lavish State Banquet.

On the following day, Emperor Nicola was hosted in the Blue Palace for a special event, a Grand Feast celebrating Istalian and Zardugal's ties attended by the state officials and by the crème de la crème of the Zardic society.

During the State visit both the Emperors and the Government Officials partecipated to a conference to talk about diplomatic, economic and political matters that concern Majatra. Among this, the recent events in Deltaria which impressed Emperor Nicola.
His Majesty, during the conference, in fact, profited to rise its concerns about the recent political evolution in Deltaria and to criticize Emperor Miroslav I for his disbanding of any sort of democratic institution in Deltaria where today he established a veritable Authocracy under which, with the greatest dismay by part of His Majesty, thousands of people are being persecuted and arrested, branded as political opponents and therefore victims of abuses that are not acceptable for a state ruled by the Rule of Law. The Emperor stressed that the dividing line between the defense of stability and order of the State and the abuse of its power is really subtle and a state under the rule of law must always strive not to go beyond that line.
Together with Emperor Felipe, His Majesty wanted to launch a call for moderation to the new Deltarian government and an invitation to respect the fundamental rights of man and the citizens.

Prime Minister Leo Tomassi and Foreign Minister Stefano Terenzi met the press this moorning in Romula and expressed great satisfaction for the meeting with the Zardic counterpart.
The Prime Minister declared:

It is a great privilege and honor to serve the Emperor and the people of Istalia as their Prime Minister. It is one of the great responsibilities as head of government to assist the Emperor in trips abroad, and I believe that this state visit to Zardugal has highlighted the extent to which our two great nations should be active in promoting peace and prosperity around Majatra - and indeed, around the globe. Here in Istalia, my government has embarked on critical pro-market reforms to all sectors of our economy. This has helped spearhead our economic trajectory and solidified our belief that free markets work. But the power of the free market should not be limited to the bounds of our national borders. The market grows stronger as it grows larger, and that is why I join my colleagues in supporting economic and political cooperation between Zardugal and Istalia

While the Foreign Minister commented in this way:
We found a good convergence of intents. What our two governments seek is stability, growth, greater exchanges and cooperation in ever greater areas to promote growth and prosperity for our citizens.
With this state visit we want to turn the page with the Government of Fortreso after the past tensions and inaugurate with a completely different approach a new relationship between Istalia and Zardugal in the name of peaceful coexistence, respect for one's own differences, exploiting common interests and opening up to us to ever greater dialogue and cooperation.
Istalia with Zardugal has always had a privileged relationship, above all economically, and in fact since the second half of the Fourth Republic many Istalian-Zardic companies have become, first and foremost Magistro-Leonardi, which still remains one of the most important multinationals worldwide.

Zardugal is another Majatran nation with which we are trying to establish a profitable relationship of peace, coexistence and cooperation and I announce you today that we have been working for some time even with the Wiel's Government to re-establish with Vanuku the excellent relations they once had . We hope to establish a peaceful continental coexistence among sovereign nations that also work together for the common good and to preserve the continent from the horrors of war and other conflicts.

Citizenship accorded to the Hulstrian Royal Family
Former Kaiserine Sophie and her family were hidden in Istalia for some time due to security and health reasons

22 May 4625

After the peaceful establishment of the Federal Republic of Hulstria and Gao-Soto, the former Royal Family, from the House of Rothingren-Traugott, decided to move in Istalia where they said to feel themself "safer": despite neither a violent uprising nor a cruel revolution menaced their lives, actually some death threats from extremist anti-monarchical exponents reached the former royals. Furthermore thay said to be very happy to be closer to Empress Josephine.

Empress Josephine, declared Quattroregni Palace, actually for years hosted discretily his sister and the other members of the family came in Istalia in one of the residence of the Imperial House. Some rumors said that Kaiserine Sophie actually fell in a deep state of depression after the abolishment of the monarchy and that for some years she needed of some time to recover. Remaining hidden from the public actually helped the former Kaiser which today fully recovered.

Among the members that decided to follow Kaiserine Sophie and Kaiser Charles there were their son Prince Rainer with his wife and their two little children.

Prince Christian and Princess Jacqueline, youngr brother and sister of Sophie, respectivelly, the former already lived in Kanjor, homeland of his wife, while the latter decided instead to move in Dorvik, her husband's homecountry where he maintained his economic interests.

Empress Josephine declared to the press to be really delighted to have her sister, her brother in law and her nephews so close and that she really appreciate to se her children better know and get close with their cousins.

Her Majesty actually didn't expressed any position about the current political situation in Hulstria, as also recommended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs since the Palace announced the news. The political genesis of the current Federal Republic, actually, was peacefull and passed through democratic institutions and pronouncements and the Government doesn't want to lose the very good relations established between Istalia and Hulstria in the previous years, first of all economic and trade interests, being Istalia today one of the main commercial partners of Hulstria Gao-Soto.

Her Majesty, instead, focused its concerns on the death threats which menaced her sister and her family, and indeed she vehemently condemned the violence and similar acts of hatred that have nothing to do with democracy or the will of the people.

Quattroregni Palace made known that former Kaiserine Sophie and Kaiser Charles will be created by Emperor Nicola as Dukes of Castelpeltro, although both the former monarch will maintain their previous treatment of Imperial and Royal Majesty while their son and grandchildren the one of Imperial and Royal Highness. Charles and Sophie, meeting the press, declared that they will spend their time in Istalia focusing in managing several business that their family had in Istalia for a long time.

Il Blocco values its results and charges against the imperial family
The spokesman of the party asks the Social Liberal Party to "reflect", accuses the current government of hiding information to the Parliament, will request the appearance of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and criticizes the Royal Family of Hulstria

Image
Gianluca Buffo appearing before the press

The result of the last general elections in Istalia has brought two main surprises: the first one is that for the first time in almost half a century, neither the Social Democrats nor the Left Bloc control the regional government of any of the provinces of Istalia. The second and most important, has been the result of the Social Liberal Party, which has become the first political force of the National Assembly and that holds the key to the new government. Neither the leftist block (223 seats) nor that of the current conservative government (338 seats) have obtained a sufficient majority to form a government, so it will depend on the first political force, which has won 120 seats, choosing which block to agree to, since in both cases it would obtain the absolute majority, established in 341 seats.

Although the Liberal Social Party is defined as "center-right", if we look at the history of votes since its creation, the parties with which it has most coincided have been with Veritá e Libertá (64%), Il Blocco (57%) and a tie between the Social Democrats and the ANI (50%). With these data, it seems clearer that their ideological postulates tend more to the left, but from the direction of the party they have kept silent about which parties they will go to for the formation of that new government.

After knowing the results, the spokesman of Il Blocco, Gianluca Buffo, has appeared before the media to assess the results.

"What the citizens have made clear is that the current government has lost the absolute majority that it had, and that is because the citizens have realized that they are leading them to ruin with the measures they have been approving, despite that then some of the members of the coalition tried to hide by voting in favor of opposition proposals. Now, from Il Blocco we want to ask the Social Liberal Party for a reflection on whether it wants to prop up in the government some political parties that have been responsible for destroying the welfare state of our nation, and that although it would be totally legal, it would seem to me a democratic shame that a government would be constituted in those conditions. We are willing to support a government of renewal, that carries out the necessary laws to return to our citizens the rights that have been taken from them in this last term, and if that is not possible, we are not afraid of a new call for fresh elections. "

The spokesman said that while the results of his party have been "disappointing", they trust that the hard work of recent years will end up paying off and recover lost support.

"You can't ask people to lie down as conservatives and get up as progressists. That doesn't work out that way. But we trust that little by little, explaining why our proposals and the benefits they bring to society, change the mindset of people to realize that our party is the useful vote. "

Mr. Buffo has also taken the opportunity to comment on the latest news about the Hulstrian Royal Family, visibly upset with the government and the Emperor of Istalia.

"I find it shameful that the National Assembly was not informed of this international political situation, which could have ended in diplomatic conflict. However, I do not know if the rest of the political parties were aware, but Il Blocco, remembering that it was the first political force of the Assembly during the last legislature, was not informed of this situation. The President of the Assembly, Mrs. Totti, the representative of the legislative power and one of the highest authorities of the State, was not informed of this situation. How can citizens trust institutions if they hide this kind of information to their representatives? We will demand the appearance of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to give the pertinent explanations on this situation."

In addition, the spokesman has taken advantage of his intervention to charge once more against the imperial family, this time for the advancement of the granting of a noble title to the royal family of Hulstria.

"We have citizens who die on the streets, below the level of poverty, we have citizens who cannot afford a decent education, who cannot maintain a decent pension thanks to conservative government reforms, we have immigrants who have been waiting for years to get the istalian nationality, and now these people come and overnight, they are able to obtain the istalian nationality, and not only that, but also they will be granted a nobility title. Why exactly? For having been expelled from their nation? What a merit. "

Il Blocco has already announced mobilizations against this new act of the Imperial Family.

Minister Terenzi responds: "The umpteenth grasping at straws to attack the Crown"
The Minister of Foreign Affairs ready to report to parliament but assures that no abnormal proceedings have been applied

6 July 4625

ROMULA - Minister Terenzi didn't waste time to respond to the new assaults from the Left Bloc which recently accused the Government to hid to the Parliament important informations, namely the presence in Istalia of the former Imperial Couple of Hulstria and the decision to recognize them the Istalian citizenship.

Minister Terenzi, however, dumped the allegations saying that it is just the umpteenth grasping at straws to attack the Crown and when pressed by the Press outside the Romula's Opera House the Minister responded:

Actually no laws have been infringed! And furthermore the Government is not required to communicate to the Parliament about the regularisation procedures which interest the people requesting the citizenship. As per current law of the Empire, anyone is able to claim nationality and can reside permanently in Istalia.

The Foreign Ministry was informed by the Palace about the request by part of the relatives of Her Majesty the Empress and in the light of the delicate situation I personally opted to face the situation with the most discrete approach. No threats actually could affect Istalia by the presence of the former royal couple of Hulstria and their presence didn't constitute an issue for the diplomatic relations of the Country.

The issue of the citizenship it's easily to explain: anyone can easily understand the particularity of the situation, after all! They are former Heads of State and the former Royal House of a foreign country with which Istalia has established a long lasting friendship for almost a century and, most important things, they have all the means to support themselves financially here in Istalia, where I think they have the "most quilified internal recommendation" that an immigrant can desire.
I'm ready to report to the Parliament, I have no problem also to show how all the procedures respected the rules.

About the Noble Title, well... these are issues which rely to the Crown, however, if I can say my opinion, it is another ridicolous excuse to continue this sterile bagarre. It was a desires of Their Majesty to honor in this way the former Hulstrian royals but most important, I wish to say by the Left Bloc in which way could this decision affect the nation or the society?
All this show simpy only one thing: how the Left is out of ideas!

Minister Terenzi's last duty: diplomatic visit in Wiel
Both Vanuku and Istalia share concerns about the Deltarian military expansion while talks took place to fully resume the diplomatic, military, scientific and technological cooperation
Image

19 March 4626

WIEL - Foreign Minister Stefano Terenzi is in Vanuku's capital to meet his counterpart, Count Léppltz Zhtál-Merlkai, who invited Terenzi on behalf of the Istalian Government to talk about the future relations between the two countries.

The two Foreign Minister talked privately for almost three hours before to meet jointly the Press to which the two Ministers expressed the outcome of the meeting during which many common interests were find.
Both the Governments pursue the goal for a stable and peaceful Majatra where the nations will be able to coexist between them through dialogue and cooperation on many fields.
The two Ministers agreed to promote the special trade ralations between the two country and a cooperation on the scietific and technological field, with Wiel which expressed interest in joining Istalia in its space exploration efforts suggesting a common scientifical and technological agency too.

The two Ministers confirmed also that Istalia and Vanuku share a common geopolitical vision, first of all the Majatran authodetermination: both the countries more than a century ago worked closely to fully assert the status of Majatra as a continent totally free from external influences as never happened before and currently both the Government agrees on fully reassert this concept.
To pursue this, a diplomatic coordination will be necessary and the two Ministries confirmed that a new priority line will be put in place between Romula and Wiel and that both the governments will undertake to update and keep regularly informed each other in order to coordinate their foreign policies.

About the Majatran affairs, however, the two Ministries declared that both Istalia and Vanuku share serious concerns for the military expansion pursued by Deltaria where the absolutistic regime is fueling the propaganda with nationalistic and chauvinists dreams of glory which cannot but generate concerns for the stability of the whole continent. The two Governments are particularly concerned by the resuming of the nuclear program by part of the Czarist regime and the two Ministries actually declared to have discussed possible measures to be taken jointly to counter Deltaria's nuclear ambitions.

The left recovers the national government
After a conservative government legislature, the leftist parties agree on a new executive which compensates the loss of regional power

The pact reached between the Social Liberal Party, the Social Democrats, the Left Bloc and Truth and Freedom to form a government has managed to take the left again to control the executive power of the nation, after the interval of government of the right during the last legislature.

"A legislature of the right has been enough to show citizens how things are not done,"
said Gianlucca Buffo, spokesman for the Left Bloc, at the exit of the session in which the new government has been constituted.
"Now we have to get to work to modify the laws approved by the previous executive, who we already ventured that they would be a disaster and our forecasts have been met. We hope that this government can agree to approve the necessary reforms for our nation."

The spokesman, who has subsequently attended the control session of the already former foreign and interior ministers for the way to treat the presence of the Monarchs of Hulstria in Istalia, has ironified that the previous government called it "witch hunts ".

"I have my arguments prepared, but I can only tell you that government control sessions should be done on a regular basis, and they should not behave as offended because from the legislative branch, those who represent the citizens have the right to ask for explanations. This is how it should work . "

The current executive is made up of a total of 11 women - two from the Left Bloc, four from the Social Liberal Party, three from the Social Democrats and two from Truth and Liberty - and only 2 men - the Minister of Justice from the Left Bloc, Dante Spitale ; and the Minister of Education from the Liberal Social Party, Edoardo Martinelli - which, according to Il Blocco spokesman, reflects the new government's commitment to equality.

"Those who want to complain and attack feminism and equality for these actions, portray themselves. It is the government that should set an example to citizens, and here we are doing it. This government has chosen the best to be Ministers , and in case there was a technical tie between men and women, giving priority to the second is a way to show an attempt to fix past mistakes, so that there are no cases of discriminating against women on the mere being so, and allowing them to reach places that were not so accessible before. "

After the control session to the former ministers of the conservative government, the spokesman of the Blocco has left tremendously upset and has demanded that the Lega withdraw the insults towards his party or they would end the institutional relations between the two.

"As we assumed, the previous government does not like to have an strong opposition in the Assembly. They would have preferred to govern without having anyone in the opposition, but the citizens have placed us there to carry out an action. They seem to have forgotten that during the previous term, we were the most voted force. That the Prime Minister, Mr. Tomassi, has addressed us in the terms in the way he has done so - calling us "embarrassment" and "treacherous behavior" - I deduce that he also insults the millions of citizens who decided to vote for us to represent them. Since Il Blocco we have never addressed any political formation in this way and we will not do so, therefore we demand that the former Prime Minister withdraw his words or else, we will immediately cut off any institutional relationship with their party, lest we can spread something to them. It has been shown that they do not like how a democracy works".

FLAME OF THE ALLIANCE
Official National Alliance for the Empire's newspaper

Last party in Parliament and excluded from the Government: ANI chooses Manuela Desenzani as its new leader
The new Secretary rails against the previous Left government and against the newly formed one dominated by the Right

12 June 4629

ROMULA - Stefano Terenzi presented his resignation as Secretary of the National Alliance in the aftermath of the last elections which saw the ANI fall into last place but what really disappointed was the exclusion of the party from the center-right government led by Amelio Perrelli, leader of the Istalian National Party, first party within the National Assembly.

The ANI National Congress was convened, more than 3,000 delegates from all over Istalia gathered at the Congress Palace of Romula and despite the strong tensions that emerged, finally prevailed the political line of Manuela Desenzani, 47, became the group leader in parliament at end of the last legislature during which she also held the role of President of the Parliamentary Commission for Health.
Desenzani, officially invested, took the podium from which she spoke to the delegates and the press gathered there and during her speech she did not spare any criticism against the current Government and the previous one:

ANI has always been and will always remain the most responsible actor on the Istalian political scene and as new secretary, of a party now in opposition, I cannot fail to underline this because me and this party really care about Istalia and its fate.
The previous government was invalidated by the dissolution of the ephemeral Social Liberal Party, but we were particularly disappointed by one government ally in particular, the Left Block. Minister Terenzi, during his tenure as Minister of Foreign Affairs, worked hard negotiating with various countries to adopt measures that would have benefited Istalia, both economically and geostrategically. Minister Terenzi held a long talk with his successor about what he had done and underlined the importance of this. We had also given our support to alternative proposals from Minister Giuliani. But nothing has been done. Parliament would have approved such important measures despite the internal problems of the PSL!
But today I find myself forced to be just as critical of the current government leading party government, the PNI: Amelio Perelli, current Prime Minister, when Minister of Defense under Tomassi's Government, had reassured the ANI and Foreign Minister Terenzi of the fact that the Ministry of Defense would have presented a new program to reactivate 3 of our aircraft carriers currently in reserve. A necessary measure to increase the defense capabilities of the country and to guarantee the maintenance of its current status as a leading international player. Minister Terenzi and ANI had also expressed these needs to Prime Minister Tomassi at the time, but so far nothing has been done.
Despite the opposition, the ANI will continue to put pressure on the current government as well and we hope that Prime Minister Perelli will demonstrate, as leader of a nationalist party, to care about the fate of Istalia.

Desenzani, subsequently meeting with the press, was then questioned about the future ANI's positions about economy, welfare and civil society:

In the economic field I don't think big problems will arise with the proposals that the government will present, ANI will continue to defend the free market and to believe in the entrepreneurial skills of the country, something that we share with the current government's parties.
Today, however, we find ourselves admitting that the health reform, more than any other carried out by the Tomassi government on welfare, has generated serious problems and difficulties for our citizens. According to a recent study, in five years the costs to support the medical cost of the needy citizens have increased by 28%, due to the fact that many families in the medium-low range have seen their standard of living and income decrease to meet the costs of medical insurance falling within the public programs for low incomes. An abyss is being created: on the one hand, a large slice of low-income population separated by another slice in much better conditions, with the gradual disappearance of the middle classes. This will generate social immobility and very strong disparities in the quality of life of our citizens. When I was President of the Health Commission, I had put pressure on Stefano Terenzi regarding the reform wanted by Tomassi, I had insisted on opting for a single-payer healthcare systems contracting private organizations for the healthcare services. Such a system has been in force several times during the most recent Istalian history and have been golden periods, which have seen Istalian health care become one of the most advanced. But above all, it was a universal free system. Education and free health care are the cornerstones of my ethics that I believe the ANI once incorporated but that it put aside for reasons of political convenience.
It was a mistake? Perhaps, we have also been punished for this, evidently... but wises are those who recognize their mistakes and try to fix the course. We do not expect any support from the current government, of course, but we hope that the opposition from the left will be willing to support a system that they do not like but which would be a compromise to guarantee a universal health system.
What is certain, however, is that the left will be able to count on the National Alliance to defend the fundamental freedoms of our citizens, protecting them from all forms of discrimination. A so rightist government I fear will try to introduce repressive measures in the field of civil rights and on these issues the progressive world will have to show itself united and compact!

Il Blocco refuses to support ANI
"We do not believe his" ideological turn "" said the spokesman

Image

For the second time since the 4580s, the right has managed to form a government by adding an absolute majority in the Assembly after the elections called after the dissolution of the Social Liberal Party. However, the new government of Amelio Perrelli, leader of the Istalian National Party, has excluded this time from the Council of Ministers to the Alleanza Nazionale, since only with the votes of his own party, the Lega Giusnaturalistica and the National Conservative Party has been enough. After criticism that the new ANI leader, Manuela Desenzani, has launched both to the new government and the previous one, Il Blocco spokesman Gianluca Buffo has come out to comment:

"Without a doubt, it is bad news that the right has returned to the institutions to govern, because we have already seen that the only thing they can do is destroy the public in favor of the private, and work to achieve the welfare of the upper classes although that hurts the rest of the citizens.

If Mrs. Giuliani did not propose the treaties negotiated by previous ministers, it is fundamentally due to two reasons: when there is an ideological change in the government, you cannot pretend that the negotiations carried out continue, because in many cases, as in this case between what was negotiated by Minister Terenzi and later by Minister Giuliani did not coincide. And the second reason is that the Minister has been waiting for the authorization of the Prime Minister, authorization that never came."

He has also taken the opportunity to reject the words that the new leader has dedicated to the leftist parties, which she asked to support the health reforms that her party would propose after finding that the laws passed by the Tomassi government were a mistake.

"We are glad that the ANI has realized that the sanitary reforms that the Tomassi government carried out are a failure in every way, but it will not deceive us. We have laid down its sanitary proposal because, scrutinizing it under its new "ideological turn," their proposal continued to defend private health at the expense of the public, and we will not allow citizens to be fooled by allowing the ANI to score a bit that it really will not have any real benefit on citizens. We will keep fighting for a free and quality public health for all. We do not believe this ideological turn of the ANI, and although we agree that we will not allow a setback in social rights in our nation, their latest proposals in the Assembly say otherwise and they show that their words are only smoke and that what really bothers them is to have been excluded from the conservative government we currently have. "

The spokesman has indicated that they are already working to try to recover the government, and restructuring in regional federations is expected after the bad results harvested in the last elections.
