Disappointment for IeU and the party base is unleashedBrunori heavily attacked for the rapprochement with Corlione and the economic policies: the violence of the extremists and excessive neoliberalism punish the party said the uprising internal oppositionDisappointment on the faces of the unionist supporters of Identity and Unity12 July 5061COLSAMIA- The Popular Front of Alaria wins the elections by gaining an absolute majority in the Federal Assembly and also wins the government of Alaria. The Government of the Community of Quanzar, on the other hand, remains in the hands of IeU with Arrigo Perin who has been reconfirmed for the third time.
The disappointment among the ranks of Identity and Unity is great, expectations were high and already in the night when the preliminary results arrived that gave FPA an advantage, the disappointment turned into anger aimed at the national secretary Brunori.
The toughest attack on the leadership came from the whip of the Assembly Ciro Salvemini who for months had already criticized the rapprochement between Brunori and Lucreazia Corlioni with whom he had already had strong disagreements before she left the party.
Salvemini, according to the first rumors leaking from the party headquarters, pointed the finger at the most violent drifts of the demonstrations, against the supporters of Istalian Resurgence who on several occasions, insinuated themselves among the rows of regular demonstrations, carried out violent actions that public opinion have perceived as undermining the commitment of those who demonstrated peacefully.
Another very critical voice that was raised in the morning was that of Elisabetta Carillese, former President of Alaria, who also lashed out heavily against Istalian Resurgence, declaring that they heavily undermined the work she did on the island by radicalizing the independence positions as well as dismissing the moderate electorate but she also added that the economic policies pursued by the party were a key factor in explaining the defeat.
Precisely with regard to the moderate electorate and economic policies, Ahmed Sarjani, deputy of Fidelia in the Assembly, indicated the Quanzarian League and the policies approved by the Assembly as the main factors that led to the defeat.
Regarding the League, Sarjani said that not only did it attract moderate votes by subtracting them from Identity and Unity but the ambiguous behavior held during the last legislature caused a haemorrhage of votes even by the independence supporters who therefore turned to the Popular Front.
The economic policies approved by the IeU and the League, on the other hand, were judged by Sarjani to be excessively deregulatory and neoliberal, a criticism that arises from the political positions of Sarjani who, although fiercely unionist, never hid his leftist positions in the social and economic field , a position he shares with Elisabetta Carillese.
Finally today, two days after the elections, Sarjani himself with the support of Sarjani, Carillese and over 48 deputies and 71 members of local legislative assemblies presented a motion of no confidence to the IeU National Coordinating Committee against the leadership of Brunori who now risks being punished, but not only for the proximity to Corlioni but above all and mainly for the neoliberal policies.
Sarjani and Salvemini, as emerges from the lines of the motion of no confidence, declared that the average and working citizen was exasperated by the continuous demonstrations and violence and was frightened by the deregulatory economic policies which, according to Sarjani, favored large industrialists and entrepreneurs, although in the last three years investments have doubled and GDP growth has stood at around 5% per year.
Furthermore, Sarjani declared that the ever more constant reduction of the role of the state in the economic field was a further backlash for the unitarian positions, saying that the Union should pursue greater integration not only in the social, cultural or administrative sphere but also in the economic field:
Ahmed Sarjani, one of the leaders of IeU internal opposition raised against BrunoriTo restore confidence to citizens and to rediscover the national unity that the indipentist have been trying to demolish for years, the central government must return to offering coordinated and unified responses also in the economic sphere and aimed at the average citizen and workers. If the central government stops protecting workers and citizens and withdraws from action in the economic field, citizenship will clearly turn to local authorities with a discrediting of the Union's capabilities. The party will have to begin to offer proposals and answers also in the economic field and to reconsolidate the trust even for those who put such issues in the foreground
Sarjani's statements seem to be a clear political direction for the party and various experts and analysts indicate in the Fidelian deputy the most favored candidate to take over from Brunori in case of approval of the no-confidence motion by the Party General Assembly called for the end of August/beginning of September.
A disappointed Lucrezia Corlione who, however, doesn't want to give up the fight. Finally, Lucrezia Corlione, probably the main loser, does not seem to have been scratched by the heavy criticisms coming from Identity and Unity internal opposition and instead she issued a statement to supporters and journalists outside her home in Colsamia reassuring them of
her firm intention to continue to work and fight to defend the istalian legacy and to counter the systematic work of demolition and eradication carried out by those she have always continued to define as separatist communists.
