Trivendito guarantees victory to the Left Bloc
The magnificent result of the regional federation consolidates its governor as a powerful figure in the nation and gives the Left Bloc the power to form a new government.

Image
Mrs. Strada arriving at her investiture session

91 of the 136 at stake. That is the number of seats the Left Bloc has taken in the Trivendito region, where progressive forces have garnered almost 80% of the vote. It has been this great result in Trivendito that has guaranteed the Left Bloc the first position in the early elections held a year before time, after the dissolution of the MSI and the march of the OFF of a government for which "it did not feel supported" .

Now, thanks to this, the Left Bloc has once again won the Presidency of the National Assembly, and as the first political force, the right to form a new government. Nadia Strada, the general secretary of the blocists, has been quick and after an express negotiation with the rest of the progressive forces - Red and Free and the Social Democrats - she has immediately presented a government proposal in the Assembly, which will be approved in the next hours, which will mark the return of the Left Bloc to the head of Government, a position that it has held for half of the current century (13 of the last 27 years).

During the investiture debate, the PDLN, which currently occupies the head of government with a parliamentary minority cabinet, has criticized that the blocists have preferred to govern with Red and Free rather than poll other parties to govern with right and left and prefer to govern with a "dictatorial communist party".

Mrs. Strada, on the other hand, has replied that they had no shame in allowing the entry into government of an openly fascist party, and stressed that after the last elections, in which it has been shown that citizens have called for a progressist change - leftist forces have obtained almost 400 of the 681 seats in the National Assembly - cannot be reconciled with allowing a party that has promoted "reforms that are very damaging to the social and economic fabric of the nation" to continue in government .

"Both the PDLN and the Populists are now criticizing us for allowing Red and Free to enter the government, a party that they say their ultimate goal is" to promote a dictatorship of the proletariat." However, when from this party we accused them of whitewashing fascism by including openly xenophobic and fascist forces in the government, they denied it, arguing that "it could be controlled." I now tell them the same. This coalition government will bring the changes that istalian society demands, after years of conservative governments who have done so much damage to the economic and social fabric that constitutes our country, such as the pension system. Hopefully these years in the opposition will make them think about their attitude. "

The imminent prime minister of Istalia has announced that the priority of her government will be to dismantle all those reforms that the previous Tranchina government approved, as long as there is consensus among the government partners.

On the other hand, the other great beneficiary of these elections has been the current governor of Trivendito, the blocist Egeo Azzara, who has returned to obtain an absolute majority in the regional Parliament with which to be able to approve and change regional laws at his whim. Mr. Azzara, who during the conservative governments of Tranchina maintained a combative attitude towards the national government and held the non-binding referendum on the Istalian monarchy, assures that he will continue to pressure the government to achieve the holding of a national referendum on the matter.

DONATELLI NARROWLY WINS SILICIA PRIMARY
October 11th 4727

Image
Young upcoming politician within the PDLN Cesario Donatelli has won the first primary of the PDLN leadership contest

Romula: Cesario Donatelli, who was until now rather unknown to the general public, has won the first primary contest of the PDLN by a narrow 0.2% margin.
The first contest, held in silicia, is also the second largest contest of the race. Early during voting today it became clear that Donatelli would do much better then anticipated, winning votes in places many pollsters expected him not to gain any. By the end of the night there were only two real contendors for the delegates in the region them being Alexandro Cortez, front runner up to this point, and Donatelli. While close to midnight Cortez still had a lead of 2% 2 hours later that lead has shrunk to 0.3% until finally, the morning after, Donatelli was declared the winner of the first primary in the race with 38.6% of the votes. Cortez came second with a extremely narrow margin, winning 38.4% of the votes. Due to the rules of the primary Donatelli has won all delegates in the state. Giving him the first 85 delegates of the contest with 200 needed to win leadership. While Cortez, after hearing the result, stated he wanted a recount the PDLN electoral commission rejected his claim stating that there had already occured 2 recounts of the most populated districts during the election itself and they see no reason to suspect a different result if another recount was called.

Analysts state that Donatelli his win is mostly attributed to his calls for structural reform to Istalia's political system, his youth, energy and his grassroots campaign that has clearly shown its strength in this particular contest.

The full results of the vote were as followed:

Cesario Donatelli: 38.6%

Alexandro Cortez: 38.4%

Cassiano Varano: 18%

Teresa Del Mastro: 5%

While this win gave Donatelli a major boost in the polls Cortez is still frontrunner for the entirety of the contest with 38% of the party supporting him. Donatelli now has around 26% support while Varano has 22% support and Del Mastro has 14%.
Cortez is also still 4% points ahead of Donatelli in the Sarregna polls, meaning that the largest region in the primary is still expected to vote for Cortez.
The next contest will be in Sarregna and shall be held on June 4th 4728.

CORTEZ WINS SARREGNA PRIMARY
June 4th 4728

Image
Cortez after winning Sarregna

Romula: Alexandro Cortez, frontrunner in the PDLN primary race, has won the largest region up for grabs. With 41% of the vote he beats Cesario Donnateli who only won 32% of the vote and became second. Cortez is now in the lead in terms of delegates with all 130 delegates of Sarregna going to him. While Donnateli shocked many in Silicia he once again performed well in Sarregna despite now winning.

These are the full results:

Alexandro Cortez: 41%

Cesario Donatelli: 32%

Cassiano Varano: 17%

Teresa Del Mastro: 10%

It is expected that the last races, which will be held simultaniously, will be a neck to neck race between Cortez and Donatelli while in a region like Trivendito, Del Mastro could also do particularly well. While officially there is no way for Donatelli to win 200 delegates he could still manage to deny Cortez those delegates as well, resulting in a hung delegate count which would automatically trigger a last "national" contest with another 50 delegates at stake. This could in the end get Donatelli over the edge. Many analysts believe Cortez is still likely to win the contest.

OFF PARTYLEADER MARTELLO: "KICKED DOWN, STANDING UP"

November 4728 ROMULA

At a partymeeting in Romula, the newly elect OFF partyleader Victor Martello, stated that the former partyleadership might have made a few mistakes. Admitting faults is unheard of in the Family Party. Critisism on policies and decisions were just not done. For decades the party was a bastion for outstanders. OFF watchers often said that it was very hard to get tinformation about what's going on in partyranks. Martello seems willing to change that. However, it is quite unclear how he was elected as partyleader, the OFF choose for a policychange. The party was "kicked down" during the latest election but what we learned is that in the end it's all about how you get started again! OFF watchers think that the party is looking for controlling one region and implement their religious based policies. That would explain the recently proposed devolution bills. Commentators believe that the OFF leaderships aims at the Mezzodiurno or Padagna. The OFF may be challenging the BdS in Trivendito, a longtime stronghold of the Bloc. Analists believe that the OFF might have a chance in Padagna but that it is very unlikely the party will succeed in other regions to gain the regional presidency. Martello was not available to anwer some questions from the press. As a journaist said:"that hasn't changed so far....".

DONATELLI WINS PDLN PRIMARY IN STUNNING WIN, CORTEZ WITHDRAWS AND ENDORSES HIM
December 10th 4728

Image
Donatelli after Cortez endorsed him, making him win the primary

Romula: In a stunning twist of events Cesario Donatelli has won PDLN leadership. After winning the first primary contest but losing the second many analysts believed that Cortez was guarenteed to win. But suddenly, just after results from the last 3 regions came in, Alexandro Cortez announced his support for Donatelli and his withdrawal from the race. According to insiders of the campaign it was both caused by pressure from former leader Tranchina and Cortez his own pride. He came to decision as he became increasingly busy with his work in parliament and it became hard for Cortez to divide his attention. Believing his work in parliament to be very important at the moment he did not want to leave his post until "the current destructive administration is out of office" seeing it as dangerous for the country and party to do so. Besides that it became clear that Donatelli would likely receive the delegates from remaining regions, as he won in two and in the third, Trivendito, Del Mastro won but pledged to support Donatelli. With early polling suggesting that Donatelli would also win the national primary there was no real way forward for Cortez either.

The full results of the remaining primaries:

Mezzudiurno Regiona

Cesario Donatelli: 41%

Alexandro Cortez: 36%

Cassiano Varano: 13%

Teresa Del Mastro: 10%

Padagna Regione

Cesario Donatelli: 38%

Alexandro Cortez: 36%

Teresa Del Mastro: 15%

Cassiano Varano: 11%

Trivendito Regione:

Teresa Del Mastro: 41%

Cesario Donatelli: 36%

Alexandro Cortez: 20%

Cassiano Varano: 3%

These developments give Donatelli all delegates in the race, making him the undisputed leader of the PDLN until either his resignation or his dismissal by party members. This first primary is immediately a historic one as Donatelli beforehand was not even a real contendor and seen as a outcast. Now the young politician that is calling for structural pragmatic constitutional reforms to Istalia and a "common sense" economic and social policy is leader of the biggest right wing party in the country giving him a opportunity to shape the right and center-right agenda for the upcoming election. His youthfull and energetic appearance and fresh ideas are, according to analysts, a great bonus to have in the next election. Many political comentators are anxious to see what may come from his leadership.

Alexandro Cortez will, in discussion with Donatelli, remain in his post of parliamentary leader and will be appointed Deputy Chair of the party. Donatelli will be officially appointed in the coming weeks.

The President of the National Assembly studies possible sanctions against Mr. Braga
This response comes after the behavior of the ANI deputy against the other members of the National Assembly, although Mrs. Fantini has announced that she will give Mr. Braga the opportunity to retract first

Image
President of the National Assembly, Nina Fantini, after Mr. Braga gave her the middle finger

The President of the National Assembly, Nina Fantini, announced today that she will study possible sanctions against the ANI deputy Carlo Braga, after the attitude shown in a parliamentary session where the approval of a law of devolution of power to the regions in Health terms. It is at this time that Mr. Braga has accused the government - chaired by the blocist Nadia Strada - of wanting to divide Istalia into nations, as well as accusing the current governor of Trivendito - who governs with a vast majority in the region - of being a separatist. At the end of his words, Mr. Braga has left the parliamentary headquarters taking the middle finger off the rest of the Assembly deputies, as well as the President herself, who has been quick to react calmly and in moderation.

"Unfortunately, politics for some is also spectacle."
the President has said
"After the shameful behavior of Mr. Braga, at the headquarters of the national sovereignty of all the Istalians, against other legitimately elected representatives, I will proceed to study the appropriate sanctions against him. In this House it is legitimate, and in fact, welcome, the discussion and the debate, because that is what the citizens want, but going from there to Mr. Braga's actions there is a stretch that is called education and respect. "

The President has announced the summons of the lawyers of the National Assembly in order to study a possible sanction against Mr. Braga for his behavior.

"The deputies who meet here must give an example of exemplary behavior. We are the representation of the popular will, and the acts of Mr. Braga are therefore equivalent to attacking a part of the citizenry that legitimately voted and decided the composition of the current parliament."
The President declared at the end of the parliamentary session.
"I will wait first for an apology from Mr. Braga to the entire Chamber, and to myself, before proceeding with any pertinent sanction, because I believe that we all make faults and we all deserve a second chance. I will not proceed to act first and therefore, I grant him that second opportunity to retract his actions and channel his anger in a more respectable and proper way for a representative of the citizenry. "

The President of the National Assembly, a university professor and who already served in office during the 4720-4724 legislature (although at that time her party was in opposition), belongs to the more moderate sector of the party, and has always tried to mediate in the tensions within Parliament, and maintains a good relationship with all parliamentary speakers.

For his part, the governor of Trivendito, who during the previous legislature held a non-binding referendum on the form of state preferred by the citizens of his region, has not missed the opportunity and has published the following on his social networks:

PDLN SUPPORTS EARLY ELECTIONS "ITS TIME FOR MEANINGFULL CHANGE"
August 14th 4729

Image
The Istalian parliament earlier today

Romula: The PDLN supports the call for early elections according to new party leader Cesario Donatelli. The party, who recently elected Donatelli to become its new leader, supports the proposed early elections to "restore dignity to the executive" and "achieve real, meaningfull change in Istalia". Just 4 months ago the party outlined its electoral program which includes constitutional reform to reform Istalia's "polarized and disfunctional" political system. The program also includes plans for Educational reform and additional investments into space exploration. Donatelli himself has already been on the campaign trail for 2 months and has drawn immense crowds, much bigger then his predeccesor.

Donatelli is calling for reforms to Istalia's political system. He wants a less polarized system that is effective and respects democratic traditions. But not only that, his youthfull energetic appearance is also what is so appealing about him according to newly attracted supporters. His campaigning efforts have worked as his party is branching out to people it did not reach before and his campaign slogan "Change for the Future" is appealing to a much younger base then Tranchina did before him.
While many seem to think Donatelli might do better then forecasts show it remains to be seen if the early elections will pass and if Donatelli might exceed expectations.

Donatelli stated he is "confident" in the chances for next election and "ready to work for the Istalian people"

Tutti le Classi si Uniscono!
All Classes Unite! So reads the new slogan of the recently election successful Populists, with its new leader Sollecito as its spearhead

Image
The new Head of Party of the Populist Faction, Messalina Sollecito

Messalina Sollecito took over as party leader after the popular Augusto Amadeo resigned at the age of 62. The leadership was first skeptical of Sollecito but their doubts was pushed away after Amadeo publicly nominated and vouched for her. She made a quick and promising career in the Populists in their regional organization in Silicia, were she was made candidate for governor in 4703. Her results however, went up and down like a roller coaster, but her fame in the party had never ceased to exist. During the quick campaign of the early election now in February 4734, she promised to continue Amadeo's land reforms in other regions, the first one being in Mezzodiurno. She has also said that she wishes to end the hostilities between classes and those political organizations and/or parties fueling these hostilities, though not mentioned by her, political commentators states that she specifically talks about the Left Bloc, who in the recent times have clashed with the Populists over the question of forcing people to contribute to pension systems, and the morality behind such a policy. As the early election now is over, the Populists have gathered more votes and seats in the National Assembly than ever before, with up to 12 million votes and 165 seats, ending up in the position of second largest party. With the Order, Faith and Family and the National Alliance, the Populists could lead its first government, most likely led by Sollecito.

Populists rebrand themselves as the "voice of the classes"
The Populists have adopted a new logo, a new slogan and a new leader
Image
Former logo on the left and the new one on the right

It is no secret that the Populists have gotten a new leader, that being Messalina Sollecito, however, with her rise the party has now faced a period of rebranding themselves. When Sollecito abolished the office of the Cademo (Leader of the Movement), the party was shocked, however this decision was made as to preserve the integrity and the prestige of the office by only allowing the so called "three founding stages" to hold the office, these "stages" in order being Giusto Zani, Romero Geraci and Augusto Amadeo. In place of a Cameo, the party created the title Head of Party instead. This has made other young and radical members of the party to wanting to change to look of it, by preserving its current look in an eternal light they dub "The Founding Period". The "New Period" as they call it has now been the party's full work with new logos, new slogans and new ideas which was debated during the recent congress. Just recently the logo was changed, with its new slogan being a part of it. The slogan reads: All Classes Unite!, this message is to symbolically oppose the common leftist message of All Workers Unite!, to show people that the Populists doesn't favor one class over the other but all classes. They explain that the new logo's three heads is to symbolize the three classes of the upper class, the middle class and the lower class. No matter what, they seemed to have the classes favor during the recent election.

The Left Bloc chooses a new leader
After rising for the fifth consecutive time as winners of the elections, with almost 40% of the votes, Nadia Strada resigns from the party leadership

Image
Newly elected General Secretary of the Left Bloc Leandro Bisso speaking with the press

After obtaining its best historical results both in number of votes and in percentage, everyone has been surprised by the surprise resignation of Nadia Strada to continue leading the Left Bloc.

After appearing to celebrate the results of the last elections, in which the Left Bloc has obtained more than 37% of the votes and more than 17 million in total numbers (more votes than the third and fourth parties together), in addition to obtaining the governments of 3 of the 5 regions that make up the country - including Silicia, where they have retained the absolute majority - no one was expecting Ms. Strada to announce her resignation to continue leading the party.

"Thank you very much to all those who have once again placed their trust in this party, in this project that belongs to everyone. Once again, it has made us the first political force in our country, and there are now five consecutive elections which we have been the party with the most votes for the citizens of Istalia, getting more and more votes. All this has made it possible for us to reach the majority of regional governments, as well as the Presidency of the National Assembly, but even so, it has not been enough , unfortunately, to prevent the conservative parties from agreeing again to form a new government that will lead us to disaster. "

As usual, Ms. Strada has not dedicated a good word to the conservative forces of Istalia, which in the coming months are expected to close a pact to form a new government that ends the interim of the previous one, in the minority since withdrawal of OFF that precipitated a call for early elections.

"Despite the fact that we, a single party, represent almost 40% of the citizens who have gone to the polls, all the conservative forces have decided to unite in a pact of losers to form a government that will surely fall again when OFF again decide to quit. Our citizens don't deserve this. "

However, Nadia Strada has also made self-criticism and has recognized that she has not been an easy politician to carry for anyone, although perhaps the most important moment has been when she revealed that, in the previous legislature, her party and OFF had serious conversations to form a coalition government with the intention of passing only previously agreed laws and nothing else, and then dissolve and call new elections.

"I've been lurching a lot over the past few years, and I think it's time for someone new to take over."

And that relief has come in the form of 44-year-old Leandro Bisso, chosen today by the militants with almost 60% of the votes against the other 4 candidates to the leadership of the party.

Leandro Bisso, a surgeon by profession and a politician by vocation, as he describes himself, has been a Minister of Science and Health under the governments of Egeo Azzara in Trivendito, and before that he was a spokesperson for the party in the parliament of that region. Linked from a young age to workers' social movements, he declares himself proud of having been able to carry out his career exercising various offices without the help of his parents - a regional deputy of the Populists and a national deputy first of the MSI and then of OFF - who ignored him as soon as he reached the age of majority after learning of his association with anti-fascist and left-wing university groups.

However, in the elections for the leadership of the Left Bloc, he presented himself as a moderate, open-minded and willing candidate to build new bridges with the rest of the forces of Istalia "for the good of the nation."

"It is time to leave behind all the tension of recent years. The political discrepancy exists and should continue to exist, but in recent years we have witnessed shameful scenes at the seat of national sovereignty and we should all make an effort to that these situations did not happen again. "

In addition, in his first statements he has already shown the discrepancies with the Populists, who for the first time in their history have occupied the Head of Government.

"Without a doubt, it seems to me a sad decision to take pride in reaching power despite not having been the most voted force. Not only that, but among us, the first force, and they, the second, there are more than 12 % and 6 million votes difference. A government that is born like this cannot rise as a morally legitimate representative of the people, even if it is legally. In relation to its umpteenth attempt to eliminate the class struggle, I just want to tell them that it has misunderstood. Yes, of course the class struggle implies confrontation, but it also implies solidarity and consensus. If they really want to reunite and reconcile the classes of our country, we reach out to them to build together a true social and democratic republic, in its literal meaning of "popular power". "

Mr. Bisso's change of speech and tone in relation to his predecessor is evident, but it will be necessary to see if those words become facts.
