Minister of Foreign Affairs Aurora Adorinda with an update on the sitution in Deltaria, Beitenyu and the MA Cart of Fundamental Principles

Image

So, this government under guidance of President Lepera has, with all the national turmoil, followed a quiet foreign policy concentrated on internal matters. However
We have been working, do not worry! Now, prior to the election we owe our citizens our stance. What is our plan for the future and for the immediate problems at hand regarding foreign policy and Istalia's position in the world.
First thing first, should god allow it we intend to place a Nationalist Ambassador to the World Congress, as currently we have an unbiased ambassador doing a great job, but not representative of the ruling coalition.

Second, the situation in Beitenyu regarding the rebuild of their armed forces is being Observed closely, but we recommend a very slow and gradual change - should they Beitanese still want it. After, placing advanced weaponns in people's arms and controlling them is not a task for one day. Nonetheless we support them as the newest member of the Majatran Alliance and Common Economic Area, to which I will get later.

Third, the situation in Deltaria will take two steps, first,
We wait as suggested by their own democratic opposition until the free elections. We do not want to meddle extensively in Deltarian Affairs as our relations are not the best at the moment. Then, as members of the Majatran Alliance they will have to sign the Fundamental Principles Charter which is in its final drafting stage. If they sign it, then the problem resolves itself as we will not have any complaints left. If they do not, then actions in form of sanctions and more may be undertaken depending on the severity of the situation. Currently,
We are playing Majatran Policeman and just observing. Our actions solely depends on how well Deltaria behaves itself Post - election.

Good luck to all in the upcoming elections; and the next update, hopefully from me will be following shortly after that. This government has done a lot to peace and prosperity of the nation and we hope that the voters notice it. God bless Istalia! Thank you very much.

THE ULD ANNOUNCES THEIR MINISTERIAL CANDIDATES; THERE ARE A FEW SURPRISES

Image
Vespa-Baldassare announced the candidates for his potential third cabinet.

As per ULD tradition, Vespa-Baldassare convoked a congress of the ruling party to announce the new ministerial candidates, that would take their seats if the ULD would enter the next Government. However, unlike the last time, the possible members of the next candidate ended up being pretty big surprises.
However, let's start with the beginning. The congress was held in Trivendito, regarded as a ULD stronghold, in the largest city of the region, Triesta. In the usual Liberal Democratic fashion, it was a show, as it was opened by a... firework show, and a clip of President Lepera warming up the members from a chair in the Presidential Palace, explaining his absence, saying that he had "too much to do", but that he'll watch the show live and chat with others viewing the transmission (which he did).
However, the first proper speech was given by the 74-year-old Phineas Abercrombie, one of two living past leaders of the party. He mostly congratulated Vespa-Baldassare (who was present on the stage with him) and his ministers, while complaining about the other parties. He also said that he wants his grandson (Anastasio Balotelli) to work harder as the Deputy Leader, while also congratulating him on his progress.
He was followed up by the party leader himself, who announced that the party will support Lepera for a third term, while announcing his ministerial candidates, which are as follows:

The candidate for Foreign Affairs
Adriano Manfrin, the Deputy Chairperson of the ULD (overall leader in parliament), business specialist, economist, one of the party Vice-Chairs (not the first one), ex Vice-Prime minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, and ULD representative on the meetings of the international groups to which it belongs.

The candidate for Internal Affairs
Grimaldo Simonette, a relative newcomer, ex-member of the youth wing and current minister of Science and Technology, Simonette studied administration at the Triestran university, and headed the party structures in the city before becoming the Youth Wing leader and later, minister.

The candidate for Finance
Mauro Petralia, the long-term minister of Finance and current Deputy Prime Minister will have a chance to sit for a third term, if this proposition is to hold up.

The candidate for Defence
Imraan al-Din, the current minister of Defence and ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs is set to retain his position, if this is to be true. Apparently most of the party backs him.

The candidate for Justice
Thamra al-Odeh, the candidate for this position for the third time in a row. She is the current party president.

The candidate for Infrastructure and Transport
Antero Reale, the leader of the structures of the party in Padagna, once a university professor, and ex-mayor of Genevia.

The candidate for Health and Social Services
Qhizma Nassar, the current president of the Chamber of Deputies, once party Deputies Leader, professionally a doctor.

The candidate for Education and Culture
Editta Lionetti regains her nomination, after losing it last time. She is currently an MP and one of the party's Vice-Chairperson.

The candidate for Science and Technology
Islam Shamon-Baz: Manfrin's right-hand man and student, Shamon-Baz also currently serves as a delegate and MP from Romula.

The candidate for Food and Agriculture
Diana Falanga; the mayor of Ulbia, ULD vice-leader in her region. Also, an e-leader of the party's youth wing.

The candidate for Environment and Tourism
Carmen Din Asa, the only nominated senator, she is a vice-whip in the higher chamber.

The candidate for Trade and Industry
Faust Adriani, Mario Zanussi's nephew, the party's finance speaker and vice-minister of finance.

Image
Balotelli, unlike expected, did not become the candidate for the minister of Defence

The cabinet itself seems very professional and fitting, built out off specialists. However, the candidates thmeselves, as the lack of some, seem peculiar and spark interest;
Simonette as the Candidate for Minister of Internal Affairs, Manfrin as the candidate for minister of Foreign Affairs seems out of place, as most suspected that al-Din would be the candidate, while he retains his position as minister of Defence, which brings up the biggest topic; the lack of Balotelli, Gani and Mascara-Santi among the candidates. Balotelli was expected to take al-Din's position as Minister of Defence (he served in the army, worked in arms-producing companies, plus his position in the party itself), Gani was seen as a possible candidate for Environment and Tourism, as alongside his position as the party's Vice-Chairperson, he also serves as the leader of the parliamentary Environment commission. Mascara-Santi was expected to become the candidate for Trade and Industry, which she didn't become. However, many speculate that that may be due to her recent pregnancy (however, it would most likely end before the possible cabinet would be voted in).
Many speculated that Vespa-Baldassare's daughter culd possibly take the sit of Minister of Education and Culture, which did't happen.

Instead, Balotelli, who had the speech after Vespa-Baldassare, announced that he will accompany the president in his foreign visits, while also announcing that he'll try to "follow in his grandfather's footsteps", which provoked whispers in the party's leadership itself.

However, as it seems unlikely that any party will rule singlehandedly, which includes the ULD, it would be difficult for Vespa-Baldassare to bring all the candidates to their supposed positions.

Deltaria elections allow Istalian Foreign Ministry to relax
First Nationalist Istalian World Congress representative with familiar name: Antonio Rosso!

After March 4351, one could hear a sigh of relief coming from the Istalian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as the Deltarian Czar's party, accused of severe democratic and human rights violation, has been punished by the voters themselves. As promised, the elections were free enough to be recognised and due to Istalia's official neutral stance, no Istalian may be "accused" of the outcomes. However, the sigh of relief was also due to the SU being more open in the reintegration of Deltaria into the MA and should lead to its approval of the Fundamental Principles, as Deltaria has for long times been off target. The Nationalists, with their Aurora Adorinda heading the most isolationist FA ministry of Istalia in recent years, can rejoice as the path of staying low on the global political scene has proven to be the right one - for this particular scenario at least. However, certain PNI members have expressed their distaste for the SU as they are afraid that free market principles will be undermined "once again by some Socialist party breaking bad and turning hardcore Metzist". Hence, the party and by extension the foreign ministry believes that the Czar should be maintained in order to ensure stability in the Deltarian Empire.

Following that, the Foreign Ministry has announced the appointment of the first Istalian Nationalist World Congress Security Council Representative, replacing the current neutral diplomat who did a "fantastic job" throughout all these years for a man, whose family name has been enshrined in Istalia's political history books and who, being a member of the Nationalist Party - currently in governing coalition - will attempt to, as stated by Minister Adorinda, "represent the interests of the people due to representing the voted in governing coalition". That man is the Romulan born great-grandson of ex-President Rosso, Antonio Rosso. The return of the Rosso name into politics is a very successful political move by the Nationalist Party which aims to act as the global advertisement for an interesting idea called "democratic nationalism", which ironically is sometimes called "Rossoism". The first words of the 31-year-old in his new position were short:
I am honoured as I know whose legacy I continue with my name, and whose extremely hard work and dedication I take over in my new job as the Security Council Representative in the World Congress for Istalia and for the Nationalist Party.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Istalia Aurora Adorinda: „The Deltarian Csar disgusts me!“

The Deltarian Csar and his paramilitary have apparently engaged in an attempted coup d´état following their decimation in the free elections. The Istalian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, previously neutral in the internal Deltarian conflict could not stay silent, as Minister of Foreign Affairs Aurora Adorinda has issued a statement:
We look in sheer shock at the occurances in Istalia, happening as we speak. I legitimately want to apologize for my party and our government claiming to support the existence of a symbolic monarchical Csar to maintain „stability“ in the Deltarian Empire. The actions of the Thallerist Party, the Csar and their paramilitary forces sincerely disgust me! We applauded their wise decision to conduct free elections, but they threw away any credit the international community has given them by turning around and crying as soon as the result did not go their way. Not only that, but they were offered to still politically fight for what they believe is the right path for their country, by the Socialist Party which was formerly oppressed and whose members were and still are in great danger!

Let me say this: Istalia will support the DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED government in Deltaria. There is not buts and ifs regarding that. As long as that government keeps up that principle, they can count on our support - this goes for any country in Terra - even with fascist or communist party at their helms. We will stay in constant contact with the legitimate Deltarian government whilst doing everything to prevent a full out civil war. Should the government in Deltaria desire our military assistance to combat these terrorists, I will immediately consult the President and Parliament to fulfill your wishes and from the Nationalist Party I can already clearly say that our delegates will have your back, as this scenario has ultimately proven that a socialist, yet democratic government is better than an authoritarian one no matter how capitalist it is.

Thank you.

The leader of the Nationalist Party of Istalia, Paolo Vespa-Baldassare intends to discuss the situation with the Prime Minister, his brother Hugo and even claimed to play around with the idea that should Parliament or the President prefer to maintain neutrality, which would be an equally respected decision, the Nationalists may send their own paramilitary to help out the legitimate Deltarian government, should they so desire. After all, paramilitaries are legal in Istalia and as Paolo said:
This is not somewhere in Terra, this is almost at our doorstep! What if it escalates and spreads through the whole Majatran continent? We should be ready to protect a former full MA member and a potential future ally.

THE ULD HELD A GENERAL CONGRESS, CHANGES WERE MADE

Image
Vespa-Baldassare decided to reduce the power in the hands of the Party Chairpeople from now on

The Liberal Democrats held a Congress just yesterday, a general congress, in which Vespa-Baldassare, aside from being elected for another term, also announced changes in the Party; first of all, he announced that from now, although the Party Leader will still choose the six vice-chairs, the first Vice-Chair will be elected by the party majority, just like the Secretary and President, functions that were earlier elected by the Chairperson. That leaves only, as stated, the National Coordinator and Pary Vice-Chairpeople directly under the Chairman.
Nonetheless, that also meant a new election of the party's first Vice-Chair. As should be stated, there is also the fact that the Party Whips in the Senate and Chamber of Deputies were finally elected, after their Deputies served since they took their seats as presidents of the chambers.
Another important thing to mention is that Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Mauro Petralia, announced that he will go on political retirement after being Minister of Finance for 3 terms. It is unknown if any other Minister decided to share his decision.

The new party leadership decided on a new "big ten", which was presented by Vespa-Baldassare.

To the surprise of many, Anastasio Balotelli was chosen as the party's First Vice-Chair, he will however still serve as Deputies Leader.

Emilia Mascara-Santi will still serve as National Coordinator, while Manfrin will retain his seat as Deputy Chairperson.

Gianluigi Manzella became the Deputies Whip, while Miriam Pellegrino became the Senate whip.

Anan Issa is still the Senate Leader.

The new Secretary is Rashid el-Mahmud, who replaced Simonette, after he resigned, due to his strained schedule as Minister of Internal Affairs, and Khaira Niazi as party President.

On that note, may we observe that Simonette himself is supposedly currently dating Elena Vespa-Baldassare.
