An Istalian Revolution?
July 5078

Image

The elections this summer have produced the expected result. The three left-wing political parties, the Istalian Communist Party, Radiciale, and Together, won the elections by a landslide, gaining nearly 75% of the vote and claiming 4 of the five regions. In spite of this remarkable result, the elections were characterized by near-unanimous abstention, as only 15.5% of registered voters actually turned out to vote. The causes of this incredibly low turnout are unclear, but it it possible that much abstention was caused by the perceived illegitimacy of the elections, organized under the restored Istalian Empire, as well as the lack of a moderate republican alternative in an election where the Communist Party was closest to the center. In spite of this, the left-leaning forces were quick to celebrate their victory in these elections and proceeded to take control over the country.

Image

The high vote share does not however mean that it has been smooth sailing for the left-wing forces, as they face two major obstacles. On the one hand the leftist parties have never been a united bloc, and dissension and conflict between their ranks has been evident for years. The moderate Istalian Communist Party shares political space with the more radical Together and Radiciale, and the three parties are also divided on the national question. On the other hand the left-wing coalition has to deal with external threats, including capital strikes and capital flight, as well as the formation of the far-right Blue Flame political movement. In spite of these obstacles the three parties on the left have achieved some progress. The nationalization and cooperativization of nearly all industries is on its way to become the law of the land, while the draft constitution proposed by Together seems likely to be eventually adopted after the implementation of proposals introduced by the other two left-wing forces. Even so, the road ahead is long and unpredictable and the ultimate triumph of the "Istalian revolution" is far from guaranteed.

Dark forces working to destabilize east Majatra and especially Istalia
After the chaos in which Solentia recently fell, Blue Flame leader warns the country from the arrival of solentian refugees and point out the finger against Insieme labelled as a puppet of these hidden destabilizing forces
Image
Michele Corlione inciting the crowd during a Blue Flame rally

25 March 5079

ROMULA- At the headquarters of the National Secretariat of Blue Flame this morning Michele Corlione summoned the press to issue statements on the terrible facts that have been upsetting nearby Solentia for a few days by adopting theories that have been gaining more and more hold among the population for years.

A few months ago, Secretary Corlione had addressed very harsh words against solentian Prime Minister Bishara who, to justify the economic and political crisis into which its country was plunging and save face in the face of an increasingly restless population, had blamed Istalia for the problems of Solentia, even going so far as to define the Istalians as "fat overgrown pigs".
Although the words of Premier Bishara have not been taken seriously by virtually anyone, neither at home nor especially abroad in light of the equally critical situation that has been going through Istalia for years, bringing a large number of offended and angry Istalian nationalists to the streets Corlione thus incited the crowd by taking advantage of launching accusations against the Solentians in the wake of the tradition of the most nationalist right and also against the separatists of the peninsula:

Let that shitty Solentian cleanse his mouth with acid! Majatrans, dundorfians, luthorians... a leopard can't change its sposts! Let them call back their ambassador and let them call back all the Solentians who haunt us, it would be a great favor! Let us remind to Bishara, who is him indeed a fatty pig, that it was our country, alas, that gave a home and a job to many, too many Solentian crabs like him and how the Istalian patriots have always said this has always been a mistake because we all know very well how these ungrateful people regularly stabbed us in the back! From the majatran lands of Solentia came the Quanzars who subjugated these our lands! From Solentia came the Hessexes, a branch of the House of Kansar, descendant of the ancient Emirs, who three times tried to eradicate our culture, our language and our identity, and again today the traitors of the homeland reuse that name, Quanzar, again to destroy our homeland! We are attacked and insulted from all sides, but this only strengthens us! We are Istalians and will always advance with our heads held high!

Following the unfortunate and tragic death of Premier Bishara, killed live on TV during a last appeal to the country which was followed by the takeover of Solentia by the military, Corlione to the press expressed himself as follows:

First Istalia fell, a victim of historical revisionism, of veritable negationism, the victim of actions that are fueling ethnic and social tensions that had never been seen in Istalia.

And now, adding to all of this, Solentia is in chaos and on the horizon looms the risk of having, again, thousands and thousands of Solentian refugees ready to spread through our streets and to bring here in the country, again, a destructive anti-istalian agenda ready to favor only their interests, as those parasites have always done! Another destructive destabilization factor that will only bring further poison to the country.

Istalia, Solentia... as I said at the beginning, only those who do not want and refuse to see the true can deny how it is now evident and undeniable the existence of dark forces that are operating in the shadows to destabilize eastern Majatra and above all our country, which has always, as said a thousand times, regularly suffered the problems and sufferings of our neighbor, a too bulky neighbor.

Our country and this part of the continent are victims of forces that feared that our nation, after almost a century of isolationism, could once again raise its head and have a solid and authoritarian voice on the international level. Forces that, to silence us and clip our wings, have dared to do everything to destroy the country, tarnishing our past, breaking our unity, insulting us by making their own a term and ideal that for millennia have represented only oppression and hatred for the Istalians, especially those living in the Sarrentine Peninsula.

They, these traitors who have extolled the name of those who oppressed us for centuries, to repudiate our entire history in favor of particular and partisan interests, who today want to chain and suppress the freedoms of our citizens under the yoke of the worst maximalist communism, we just can't back down from considering them as a mere puppet of such dark forces working against us! They are the worst poison that is operating against every value that has always characterized the country, the values imprinted in the millennial motto of Istalia: Unity of the Fatherland and Freedom of Citizens, every freedom, civil, social and even economic, yes, economic freedom, that the country has always been a beacon of a great entrepreneurial spirit that these traitors want to suppress.

And many will ask us: why them, Insieme, children of that equally traitorous Quanzarian League? Because they are the result of that shameful historical revisionism! A historical revisionism recognized and criticized also by the Istalian Communist Party, which together with us, despite our political differences, are fighting for Istalian unity and identity. And we regret that Radiciale does not recognize this, the only ones among these autonomist movements that have real legitimacy, which have a well-established political tradition behind them in the history of the country and which, however, for the interest of Alarianism have decided to join forces with these clique of agents of destruction that is Insieme.

For the same reason these people wants to dismantle our police and our Defence Forces promoting instead the use of militia: it is another yet step toward not only their totalitarian seizure of the power, because they want persecute their political opponents, they want to put the Justice at the service of their interests only, but also because they want to left our fatherland without protection and totally defenceless facing the forces that want to destroy us!

For this reason, today more than ever, we Istalians must be united and we must remain strong for the love for freedom and our homeland and keep faith in our principles, because in doing so the day that this country, our beloved nation , will reach the light at the end of this dark tunnel will surely come! Have faith as the fathers of the Istalian nation had! We will triumph against all adversities, against these darkest forces, whether they come from within or abroad! Let's be united and strong, for Istalia!

Chief of Defense Staff resigns criticizing the military reform
General Muhammad Caleffi warns the country from the incoming establishment of militia paramilitary

General Caleffi's photo taken during the last Armed Forces' day

27 February 5080

ROMULA - This morning the Chief of the Defense Staff, General Muhammad Caleffi, officially handed in his resignation to the Emperor with immediate effect after informing the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense.
Although the Emperor, already informed in recent days of the General's decision, had tried to dissuade Caleffi from proceeding, he could only finally accept the request after the consent given by Ingrao and Longo.

Turning 56 the next April, Caleffi has held the position of Chief of Staff since Ahmed Sarjani's last term as President of the Federal Council of the Union of Quanzar and Alaria after several years as Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces following a rapid career since the re-establishment of the Armed Forces under the first governments led by Unity and Identity.

General Caleffi, who has already declared that he will opt for pre-retirement, was approached by the press after leaving Quattroregni Palace to return to the Travertine Palace (headquarters of the Istalian Defense) to which he gave this response to requests for clarification regarding his choice:

After careful reflections and above all following the observation of the existence of very strong tensions and a profound incompatibility with the objectives and choices of the current Istalian government, I finally chose to tender my resignation in the hands of my Supreme Commander after having informed the First Minister and Minister of Defense.

As the highest ranked commissioned officer of the Istalian Armed Forces it was my duty and right to express all my doubts and perplexity regarding the reform of the armed forces that the government is carrying out. These perplexities have been ignored if not received with extreme hostility by some branches of the current government that have not hidden, again, all the hostility towards not only my role but of the whole defensive apparatus of the nation, a behavior that in my opinion it can only generate further divisions and resentment in the country.

Regarding the reform of the Armed Forces, in the light of the current situation in the country and in the light of the clear intentions of some well-known political forces, I can only express perplexity towards the future militias that will support the defense forces of the nation in the sacred duty of defending the homeland. Despite the reassurances, quite limited to tell the truth, from those same forces in the government, I find it very difficult to think of these militias as neutral and not affiliated with any party or political ideology. Beyond the political implications, equally serious, it is my duty to express doubts about the ability to ensure an effective and efficient defense of the nation and the ability of these militias to cooperate with the regular armed forces, especially when the latter are continually the object of insult by part of those political forces which, despite the reassurances, personally fear that in reality they will directly lead and influence the actions and decisions of these militias or at least part of them.

In conscience, therefore, in the hypothesis, which I consider remote, that I could remain in my post after the reform, it would not be possible for me to contribute really effectively to the defense of our homeland, both for personal reasons and, above all, for the technical-organizational reasons to be already I illustrated.

Thank you

General Caleffi, who will leave his office already in the evening, should be succeeded ad interim by the Deputy Chief of Defense Staff, traditionally the oldest among the Chiefs of Staff of the three branches of the Armed Forces, in this moment namely the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Squadron Admiral Sergio Monassi.

GDP in free fall as capital and businesses flee the country facing state appropriations and an ever more uncertain future
The economic policies applied by the far-left majority are punishing the country's economy, judged as anachronistic and destructive for a country like Istalia by the major economic analysts while rating agencies cut their evaluations too
Image

14 June 5080

ROMULA- The economic policies introduced by the left and extreme left majority are making their effects felt and they are negative effects for the country's economy. GDP is now in free fall while huge capital fleeing the country and both domestic and foreign investments have practically zeroed out and among economic analysts and international rating agencies the common opinion is that the Istalian economy will have to cope with growing problems.

The political forces of the majority, although defined as progressive, have already put in place old-fashioned economic maneuvers in the sign of Metzist-Leonidist communism which have seen the appropriation by the State of a large part of the industrial-productive-economic apparatus of the country with collectivization management of enterprises and the adoption of a system of state capitalism with the authorities managing the major enterprises and the commanding heights of the economy and the entirety of the defensive industry.

The efforts of governments under the Union of Quanzar and Alaria that have taken place through the years to get back the slope of the Istalian economy in crisis for a long time have been thwarted by these radical decisions and internal political forces from the opposition, moreover, denounce how the so-called "appropriation of means of production" by the State was in fact a flagrant theft of property by the Metzist-like authorities against businessmen, entrepreneurs, foundations, holdings, etc... given that no form of compensation was envisaged, much less it has been mentioned.

The first signs of this situation had already been seen a couple of years ago in the midst of the political and institutional crisis of the country with the business that had stopped any investment while the first capital began to leave the country in a hurry. Today, with the left forces that have now implemented their economic measures, the situation has drastically worsened and many domestic and foreign companies have already closed their doors, leaving thousands of citizens unemployed.

To cope with this situation, the Government should implement powerful public investment measures which, however, would hardly contribute to real growth, going instead for the most part to buffer the huge losses of a nation very unprepared for this upheaval given that for centuries it has always been a beacon of economic freedom and in which state intervention has always been somewhat limited. Furthermore, a fundamental problem that the Government would have to face in order to implement these measures, in absence of huge revenue from any sort of natural resurce, with the major international rating agencies that are progressively lowering their assessments on the country, the State would probably not be able to raise enough money on international markets given that the current budget surplus would not be sufficient, gained precisely through a reduction in the past years of the state intrusiveness in the economy, through various reforms such as that of the health system and above all with the devolution to local authorities of many budgetary responsabilities.
Furthermore, the impact that the Solentian refugee crisis will have on the country and on the government's ability to cope with the situation should not be underestimated, given that the conditions of the country's economy are unparalleled compared to other periods during which the state faced similar emergencies. The Government's own decision to literally open the doors to thousands upon thousands of refugees who are fleeing the Solentian regime en masse has further questioned the ability of the country's majority forces to realistically assess the capabilities and possibilities of a nation which, fundamentally, had just taken the first steps in economic recovery after the century of crisis that had seen the country slide into practically miserable conditions when compared to the peaks reached in the past, when Istalia was at the top of the world economy together few other nations.

The always delicate internal political situation of the country, the crisis that is going through all of eastern Majatra and the not at all reassuring extremist forces in power, do not give hope to international stage but above all to the citizens who are increasingly struggling to make ends meet if not to find new job opportunities. The cooperativization obligations imposed on all companies, medium and small within the private sector after the major ones have been nationalized, have made it very difficult for any entrepreneur to be able to carry out their business effectively and profitably, with the revenues largely redistributed to workers, subtracting them from the needs for innovation, further investment, training, etc... and therefore with workers' councils that prevent owners and managers from real freedom of management and that by making decisions that favor employees in the short term question the long-term sustainability of company management, influenced by the propaganda of extremists who have shown that they are driven more by ideological hatred than by well-studied programmatic ideas, all with serious repercussions that can be well imagined.

For the moment, the credit system has not yet been affected by the government's action but the national and international political crisis, the flight of capital and investors, the uncertainties in the future and the fear of further appropriations by the state and the increasingly negative evaluations by analysts and rating agencies are obviously also putting that sector in crisis while the national currency on international markets is suffering falls month after month and many citizens prefer to withdraw their deposits to convert them into more durable and stable goods fearing to see the fruits of a life gradually fading in the sun or, worse, seized by the state.
But it is not only bank deposits that are fleeing from credit institutions, capitals and investments from the istalian economy but also the brains of our brightest citizens and young people have begun, or rather re-started, to flee the country (the brain drain had characterized the recent history of the country throughout the past century in light of worsened economic conditions), brilliant minds of technicians, scholars but also entrepreneurs and managers, who for months now, given the trend, have been looking for better opportunities elsewhere, especially in Deltaria, the largest economy on the continent and where thanks to the internal agreements within the MA, our emigrants were able to find a safe haven in which to take root and offer a better future to their children.

The Emperor last speech
Paolo Tommaso I leaving the throne after the decision of the National Assembly to abolish the monarchy ensures his loyalty will always go to the Country and the Istalians
Image
Last official appearance of Emperor Paolo Tommaso and Empress Miriana

9 August 5080

ROMULA - With the approval of the new constitution of the Istalian Union of Quanzar and Alaria and of the new institutional structure, Emperor Paolo Tommaso I left the Imperial Crown to resume the position of private citizen he held until a few years ago.

After thanking all the staff of the Imperial Household while suitcases and various baggage was carrying away from Quattroregni Palace, the Emperor addressed the nation for the first but also last time by releasing a unified networks televised speech with which he officially took leave in front of the People:

Dear Istalian brothers and sisters,

In assuming the crown offered to me following the decision of the Constituent Assembly, I declared that I would always fulfill the duties that this office entails with the utmost respect for the highest and noblest principles and values of our Country and our People, the values declaimed since the first article of the imperial constitution and that our People have always held proudly high.

The Istalian Monarchy has always worked tirelessly for the prosperity and progress of our people and has always worked together and cooperated with the happiness and woes of the Istalian people in the name of these values. Respecting the tradition of my dynasty, which has already had the honor of serving this Country and its People for over three hundred years, I will remain faithful to those values and to that commitment my predecessors have always respected.

For this reason, in the light of the evolution of the internal situation in the Country and in respect of the verdict of the People of which I have become the greatest servant since my oath, it is my duty to respect what its Representatives have decreed, placing in the hands of the Istalian Government the Crown of the Empire, but above all to do everything that is still in me so that more pain and other sufferings are spared to the people who have already suffered so much in recent years.

To all those who still retain loyalty to the monarchy, to all those whose soul rebels against this fate, I remember my example and I urge them to avoid the escalation of dissensions that would threaten the unity of the country, fruit of the faith and sacrifice of our fathers, and could aggravate the conditions in which the country finds itself today. I expect of them that with the establishment of the new institutional order in Istalia they shall continue to obbey and render assistance to the Government in protecting the Istalian people from the threatening dangers of anarchy, extremism and fraticides infights.

With my soul full of pain, but with the serene awareness of having made every effort to fulfill my duties, I leave my office. May those who have taken oath of loyalty to the Emperor and who have kept faith in it through so many harsh trials shall considered released from it but absolutely not from that taken to the Fatherland.

I address my thoughts to all those who committed and are committing themself to Istalia and its legacy, and I address my greetings to all the Istalians. As my last statement as Emperor of the Istalians I say that whatever fate awaits our Country it will always can rely on me as the most devoted of its servants and its children.

Long live Istalia!

Paolo Tommaso I

Former Imperial couple leaving Quattroregni Palace

Leaving Quattroregni Palace the former Emperor was greeted by many thousands of people who gathered in Palace Square holding Imperial Istalian flag and who were seen also along the routes that the cars convoy made to reach Appiano Palace, the ancestral family city residence of the Appiano De Borromeis. In the front row of the crowd that crowded the square there were almost all the MPs of Blue Flame, Ahmed Sarjani were seen in front of everyone alongside Michele Corlione, a presence that quite surprised the other presents due to the issues arised recently between BF leader and the Emperor.
The day, however, was ruined by the inappropriate interference of troublemakers from the republican movements, mainly supporters of Insieme, who tried to enter the square. The episode took place at the edge of the square and only at the end of the day news of what happened came: nationalists and monarchists with not at all reassuring faces literally gave the assault against the disturbers and only the intervention of the local police, the Secret Services and colleagues from the Federal Gendarmerie designated two years ago as Provisional Imperial Guard prevented the lynching of the anti-monarchists, vastly outnumbered in the place, and finally divided the two groups although the toughest reaction was directed against the anti-monarchist troublemakers who were eventually turned away and three of them were brough to the most closed police station for identification risking a charge for outrage against officers in the line of duty.

As already assured by the former Prime Minister and now President of the Executive Council Piero Ingrao, the Emperor and the Imperial Family will return to being private Istalian citizens who will enjoy the freedom, protection and safeguards due to every other citizen.

The relations between the Head of Government from the PCI and the Crown have been surprisingly cordial in these years of coexistence and despite the fact that both the Crown and the Prime Minister's Office have not issued official declarations on the relations between the Head of State and the Head of Government, corridor rumors seem to confirm how cordiality and civility have always characterized the dialogue between the two parties.

The Emperor on several occasions did not hold back in thanking Ingrao above all for his commitment to countering the most extreme drifts of his government allies in the name of defending the freedom and rights of all citizens and all political forces and therefore for his and his party's commitment in defending the identity and the Istalian heritage for which the PCI has probably gained even more appreciation from the Imperial Family, in a relationship, albeit with a very different outcome, which recalled the one established between the Crown and the party of the Socialists & Democrats and the Prime Minister Paolo Tarso during the very first two decades of the first Istalian Empire.

Also the energy, banking and financial sector will be put under state control
Once formally established the new Istalian Union of Quanzar and Alaria the communist-led government is proceeding with further economic appropriations materializing the fear of the previous months
Image
People crowding a bank in the city center of Calleon to save their savings

22 August 5080

CALLEON - As feared in recent months, the communist-led government is proceeding with further appropriations and nationalizations and this time the sectors that will be brought under state control will be the energy ones and the one for which there were more fears, namely the banking and financial sector.

The proposal has just been presented to the Council of the Union by the Communist Party and its forthcoming approval is expected with the support of Insieme and Radiciale, carrying on the Metzist-like policies that are now enormously reducing the possibilities of business in the private sector and which in all likelihood will put the Istalian economy even more in difficulty with respect to global markets.

Faced with the upcoming nationalization, more and more citizens are rushing to bank branches and ATMs to be able to withdraw their savings, some for fear of the foreseeable degradation of the economic system and the purchasing power of money, some for the opposition to seeing their savings managed by the state and some for real fear of seeing even their savings seized by the state. The major names in the banking and financial sector, especially foreign ones, have already made it known that they will leave the market en masse, now no longer profitable and at all attractive, neither for their own activities, nor for the investment activities conducted by the banks themselves and financial institutions in the Istalian markets.

While private activity in the banking sector will still remain permitted for small community based private banks, with regard to the energy sector the state is proceeding with the total nationalization of all companies and now it is expected that the last privately managed power plants will soon be soon brought under state control too. The government has not yet specified whether the nationalized companies will remain separate or whether a single state-owned energy company will be created. Also in this case, non-national private operators will soon be able to do nothing but leave the country.

With these measures the government is preparing to abolish the value added tax for ordinary goods, perhaps an attempt to alleviate the worsening economic conditions of the citizens but which many consider more a propaganda measure with a populist feel given that the tax was already only 3%. Instead, the tax on luxury goods will be increased, which will reach 20%, defined by the Communists as a measure designed to keep state finances in good condition and therefore evidently to cope with worsening conditions. Unfortunately, several analysts stated, the measure will only bear fruit in a very short time since it is expected that those who can still afford luxury goods will soon emigrate or will no longer be able to afford them in the future. The very ability of the Istalian markets to access luxury goods and other goods from abroad in general could be questioned in the future.

Stability Returns
July 5081

Image

The last few years have been tumultuous for the once great power known as Istalia. The restoration of the monarchy accomplished by the Constitutional Assembly was mired in allegations of voter fraud and illegitimacy, the return of the Empire sparked violent anti-monarchist protests and clashes, and the abolition of the nationhood of Quanzar and of Alaria reignited the national question, believed to have been laid to rest by the preceding Union of Quanzar and Alaria. The uprising-cum-election in 5078 that saw the monarchist government toppled and various far-left political forces take power at the local and regional level did little to calm the situation, and neither did the nationalizations and expropriations under the Communist-led government. Meanwhile political fractures between the three left-wing parties and the lingering national question prevented the settlement of fundamental constitutional matters, allowing the Istalian Empire to remain in power by default.

Image

Since 5079 the political situation has settled down somewhat. The left-wing parties managed to find a compromise solution for a governing system, establishing the Istalian Union of Quanzar and Alaria and adopting a new constitution that solidified a sui-generis "popular democracy" and abolished the monarchy. The military system of the young Union has also been reformed, moving away from the standard professional army, seen with suspicion due to Istalia's past military dictatorship, an attitude that was reinforced by the military coup in neighboring Solentia, and establishing a militia-based military. Most importantly, the government has taken steps to counter the negative economic effects of its nationalization and cooperativization policies. The regulation of the stock exchanges is designed to restore stability to the economic system, while a taxation reform adopted this month has shifted the tax burden to the wealthiest members of society while lessening its impact on the working classes. Although these measures have restored the confidence of the population and their support for the new regime, the former ruling classes still have the power to sabotage the economy and perhaps even bring the young Union to a premature end.

Markets reassured by last initiatives
Government determined to stay in MA, keeps in place stock exchange marked and foreign investments and shields higher incomes from punitive taxation; bipartisan agreements on greater independence of Justice, press and media and on greater personal protection for citizens soothes the spirits
Image

24 July 5081

CALLEON - The last initiatives announced by the government seem to have reassured domestic and international markets as evidenced by the positive rebound on the main stock markets.

The most pessimistic forecasts regarding the adoption of totally metzist-leoninist systems in the country have been disproved by the presentation of the new reforms in the financial and industrial fields by the Communists. Stock exchanges have been recognized having "a key role in our nation" and the government will regulate it still in conformity of the rules of the Majatran Association, not only thus granting a degree of freedom of investments and initiative by part of private sector broader than what was feared, but also send out an important signal to reassure and soothe the internal and international markets.

Furthermore, the new initiatives by the government confirmed its intention to keep the Union open to foreign investments which thus will be able to continue to invest in the country although national companies majority share will remain in national control. The move underlined the will of the PCI to keep in place rules of free markets and has contributed to definitively remove the specter of uncertainty about the possibility of seeing the country's economy totally converted to a socialist system. The ownership of companies, goods and services will therefore be characterized by widespread ownership in which the state will retain a solid majority.

All this translated last night into a stabilization of the stock market trend through which a positive trend rebounded, although doubts were not spared regarding the management system which left limited room for manoeuvre to privates. The rules introduced by the Government, we recall, have placed the workers and a whole series of new realities of cooperatives, unions and organizations born and organized to devote themselves to the managerial management of companies in a preponderant position compared to investors and private owners and many analysts foresee for the future quite difficult relationships between the two parties in the determination of objectives, economic-industrial planning and, last but not least, division of revenues.
Furthermore, let us not forget that the reforms on health safety issues and labor standards, which have become much more stringent than in the past, will see an increase in management costs as well as training and personnel costs in general.

However, also on the side of fiscality the PCI recently showed its intention to continue to apply a progressive taxation system which will shield higher incomes from punitive taxation level. In fact, the Communists halt the first income taxation reform proposed by their junior partners from Insieme which provided, apart an increased taxation for medium incomes, a reckless increase for the higher income providing a brackets of 99%, a move that was materializing the worst fears that had emerged in the past months that had led many citizens from all over the country to fear for their savings. Most likely, Insieme's proposal was more a provocation and a propaganda move than anything else, and after a short time the second proposal was presented with the brackets agreed with the PCI. Althought, as expected, there will be a shift in the burden of taxation on higher incomes, it will not be the fiscal revolution feared by many but more of a substantial adjustment in a progressive sense.
According to the first comments this was the greatest sign of reassurance for Istalian citizens, especially for those who had or were thinking of leaving the country. Furthermore, the greater availability of income for the lower middle classes that the reform will promote will probably encourage greater internal consumption.

Now it remains to be seen whether the new initiatives will really succeed in stopping the flight of investors and capital from the country and whether they will still have an interest in investing here. Moreover, the Government, given the new leading role of the state within the national economy, will also have to give signs of its investment intentions in the economy, as well as in the scientific and research, technical and technological, education and training, and infrastructure sectors. To do this, however, the Union will have to shortly present precise investment plans and various projects that will have to convince international markets, in order to access to necessary credit, as well as domestic and foreign investors and provides pragmatic management of state finances and resources, shielding it from the spectre of corruption and political use of economic tools.

Finally, on the political side, the souls of many citizens and of the most aggressive politicians have been calmed by the recent bipartisan agreements which have seen majority and opposition exponents support measures that have increased the independence of the Judiciary from politics, removing the spectrum of a political use of justice, especially in a repressive sense; they have increased the independence of the media and the press, albeit through a series of adjustments proposed by the government, removing the television and radio sector from state control but still supporting them with public funding; finally, in response to the growing concerns among public opinion for the fundamental rights and privacy of citizens, an unusual and decidedly libertarian agreement was reached by Fiamma Blu, PCI and Together who approved a reform that substantially restricted the power of public authorities to interfere in the lives of citizens and in their right to demonstrate and therefore express themselves.

CALLEON- Citizens have spoken and the first elections in the Istalian Union of Quanzar and Alaria have an absolute winner: Blue Flame. Popular mobilization incited by the main opposition party during the previous legislature and for a long time the only non-left party on the political landscape has paid off and, as has not been seen for decades, the electoral participation rate has reached almost 40%.

The elections for the President of the Presiding Council, the first direct election of the Head of State since the fall of the sixth republic, however, saw the election of Bartolomeo Ferretti, exponent of the other non-left opposition party, namely Hosian Democracy, but the victory is due to the fact that Blue Flame has chosen not to present a candidate to protest against the recent abolition of the monarchy but also as a sign of little trust and consideration for the Presiding Council, the new ceremonial collegial head of state, and both because the left does not seem to have managed to find an agreement on a common candidate, another factor that certainly contributed to the strong rejection of the previous majority. Alongside President Ferretti, as Vice-Presidents there will be the two newly elected Presidents of the Republics of Quanzar and Alaria, the exponents of Blue Flame Husayn Kelhil and Giorgia Pasotti.

The candidates of Michele Corlione's party won the elections in all the Republics, Regions and Communes, and the first Democratic Council of the Union that met in Calleon saw the absolute majority of Blue Flame present and confirm in a very short time the new team of the Executive Council led by Corlione to replace the outgoing one led by Communist Piero Ingrao.

The new President of the Executive Council immediately convened the press at Antinori Palace in compliance with the first of the commitments made to citizens, that is to reassure the country and the international panorama of the continuation of democracy in the country and the return of stability and tranquillity, a positive sign within the expansion of the crisis that has gripped the Majatran continent and which, as a further victim, has now seen Deltaria slid into a civil war.

First of all, let me say that this victory is a victory of Democracy, a victory of the People, a victory that has put impassable stakes for those who have tried to slide the country into chaos and violence, impassable stakes against extremism and fanaticism. Those who tried, once again, to destroy this country, either for their own intent or led by malicious external forces, have been punished by the citizens and relegated to the backs of the parties that have really shown their will to defend democracy but above all behind those parties that have in any case recognized the common history and the common identity that makes us all brothers, the parties that proudly call themselves Istalians, since this is who we are.

Now is the time to finally put an end to the chaos and tensions that have shaken the country for too long and to restore dignity to our homeland, to this democracy of ours, a democracy about which our citizens have clearly said theirs: that is we are a nation based on the rule of law where the people can feel free and can act freely. Our Government will respond to this call for freedom and less state interference. Our first proposals had already found support during the last legislature, now we have the power to fix so many distortions that the past "quasi-revolutionary" government has introduced in disgrace to the soul and nature of our people.

In compliance with the rules and provisions of the Constitution of this council republic, the next government will carry out reforms aimed at re-establishing greater economic and entrepreneurial freedom by promoting systems of cooperation and mandatory bargaining between workers and associations representing them and the patronage, private as well as public.
In fact, this government will not allow the public power to have excessive decision-making discretion within the new economy largely under state control. The big companies of the state will be placed under the control of a public company whose independence the judiciary will have to watch with painstaking attention. This public holding will maintain and manage the stakes in the various companies but in the future we will have to focus on the larger ones only by reintroducing a greater role to private entrepreneurship for companies not of crucial importance for the country. The free market is by no means dead here in Istalia and will soon offer ample profitable investment opportunities again.
The government, however, also aware of the new role of the state, is ready to launch a vast investment program to expand the key sectors of the country's economy and therefore in infrastructure. To be a competitive country we will need to invest in research, education and training.

This government, however, has not forgotten what is happening beyond our borders and will not fail to respect the promises made to our fellow citizens to remove the specter of violence as a political tool. For this reason, one of the main fields of action in which the next administration will act will be that of defense. On this we believe that the people have fully expressed their position: paramilitaries must gone and defense must be once again reorganized! My government will restore a defensive force worthy of our country and above all we will free our society from the risk of seeing improvised and exalted vigilantes wandering our streets and, worse, wandering around polling stations, near the homes of political opponents and so on. The state will firmly take back in its own hands the burden of defending the independence and integrity of the country and the freedoms and rights of our citizens.
