Foreign Affairs: Congratulations to the Canrillaise Federation but it is time to look at our own bordersWith the end of the regime of terror of Thomas Rousseau in Alduria, Istalia wants to return to being a beacon of democracy on a global level: planned initiatives in the World Congress, alliances and then a thorny question to be solved: Solentia
ROMULA - The President of the Republic Maria Muller came this morning in front of the cameras to congratulate the Canrillaise Federation and the governments of the member nations, especially Kanjor and Lourenne, for the fall of the regime of terror established by Thomas Rousseau and his Nationalist Party in Alduria.
With the escape of Rousseau and the taking of power of the moderate wing within the Nationalist Party, dismantled and replaced by a decidedly more moderate political movement, a forced decision given the strong international pressure, the new Aldurian Government is already implementing the due reforms to put an end to the totalitarian regime, reintroduce political, civil and social rights and then stop the persecution and massacres against ethnic minorities and especially against the Majatrans.
However, the President of the Republic emphasized:
We can not forget that hundreds of thousands, some voices say millions, of people have been interned and massacred and certainly it was not Rousseau alone who perpetuated these terrible crimes.
For this reason, Istalia supports the creation of an International Criminal Tribunal for Alduria and the issuing of arrest warrant not only towards Thomas Rousseau, now a fugitive, but also against members of the party, the armed forces and civil society who have helped, assisted and collaborated in implementing the persecution, internment and killing of all victims of the regime.
We hope this can be a testing ground for the creation of a permanent International Tribunal to deal with war crimes and crimes against humanity and to judge those responsible for such acts. It will also be necessary to officially establish an appropriate instrument, such as an International Arrest Warrant that can be issued by any country and therefore a system of cooperation between law enforcement and judicial systems of the countries of the world.
Istalia will undertake to implement all these measures, hoping to receive positive feedback from as many governments as possible.
Thanks
From the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, instead, more information has been released regarding an initiative that Istalia is evaluating with the Selucian Government, namely the creation of a Declaration that really establishes what are the basic and necessary characteristics to recognize a Democracy and which clearly indicate how those principles derive from the more general concept of Human Rights, since all those freedoms and all those rights that must be recognized to the citizens of a nation so that the latter is defined as democratic, are nothing but an extension and a reconfirmation of all those rights innate recognized to every human being precisely as Human Rights.
Moreover, following intense dialogues between Romula and Wiel, especially following the events linked to Deltaria and Zardugal, Istalia would like to create an alliance of nations truly committed to the defense and spread of democracy in the world, which also can assist those nations not yet totally democratic to take the path of Democracy and which will tie the nations that will want to be part of this alliance with specific responsibilities and which should discourage support for clearly non-democratic nations for purely geostrategic and geopolitical goals.
But just in light of these objectives that Istalia wants persue, arose or perhaps it would be better to say that a rather thorny problem has re-emerged and that has always caused a certain "embarrassment" to the country, that is the Solentia issue.
In fact, for decades now, Solentia has repeatedly confirmed and assured a precise geopolitical alignment alongside Istalia, ensuring full diplomatic support as well as military support to Romula during numerous international crises.
Unfortunately, what creates embarrassment among the corridors of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is the fact that Solentia has long been dominated and hegemonized by a far-right political party that has determined above all the draconian anti-immigration and isolationist policies adopted in the last fifty years and that has established what many consider as a semi-dictatorship, with the Armed Forces firmly united with the aforementioned hegemonic party rising to true power among the other powers.
Unfortunately, the isolation and closure of the country towards the rest of the world makes it extremely difficult to collect news about the situation in Solentia from where comes fragmentary news of possible coups d'état, political persecution, especially towards parties with socialist or communist tendencies, as well as a series of measures that clearly indicate that democracy is about to die in the country.
After years of silence, the establishment of a National Unity Government in Romula but above all the danger of seeing Solentia enter the notorious Koeistad Pact, a pact between non-democratic, strongly nationalist and often segregationist nations, has definitively brought back the gaze of Istalia at its nearest borders, urging the Foreign Ministry to authorize the Istalian ambassador in Solentia to present a clear and strong warning to the local government that it does not ratify the treaty, on pain of the end of any relationship between the two countries.
Obviously, however, all this has brought to the attention of the public the domestic political situation of the country and many have begun to turn up their noses about a treaty established many decades ago with Solentia: is Solentia a democratic nation or not? Is it now under the rule of a far-right regime? Are we keeping silent in the face of the risk of serious political persecution?
Now these are questions that many are asking themself and that President Muller, fully agreeing with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and former President, Aghar Yassen, finally wants to deal with. It is not excluded that Istalia asks for guarantees to Solentia such as to make it dependent on the continuation of relations between the two Eastern Majatran countries.
