IL RADICALEThe Official Press of Radical AllianceCongress of the Radicals: Ciriello leaves the reins of the Party to Calenda who confirms the line of the so-called "Competitive State Capitalism" while the libertarian wing expresses its interest in social experimentationROMULA - Giorgia Ciriello, in the aftermath of the elections, announced her wish to withdraw from the Radical Alleance leadership and called for an extraordinary Congress held in Romula for three days. As many had expected, to take the baton from Ciriello was Simone Calenda, outgoing minister of finance, who was considered by many as the architect of the stability of AR inside the left coalition instead heavily punished in the elections. Calenda presented himself to the delegates of the regional sections accompanied by Valerio Mastrantonio, Calenda's young right-hand, confirmed as new Secretary of the National Coordinating Committee, and by Amina Bengazi, the new Whip in the Chamber, another young star emerging from the libertarian wing of AR at the head of the "Community of Tolerance", associations linked to the Radicals born in all of Istalia in recent years to counter discriminatory policies propagated by different right-wing political parties but also as forms of social experimentation guided by Libertarian principles.
Simone Calenda reconfirmed the Radicals' commitment to the programmatic lines that have characterized the party in recent years, especially on the economic positions that he has defined as "Competitive State Capitalism", which sees the central State active on the economic scene through regulations , investments and therefore some strategic company controlled by the State conducted according to the principles of economy, efficiency and market competition. The State Railways, for example, are an example of this policy also married by the other forces of the left as well as the investment funds created under the first Revera government, which saw Calenda play the role of Minister of Industry and Trade. Calenda stressed during the Congress the success of the Strategic Fund and of the Deposits and Consignments Fund: in 10 years the Strategic Fund succeeded in reaching 210 billion LIS in assets (real estates, equity packages of large multinational companies, state bonds, etc...) while the Deposits and Consignments Fund has become one of the major national investors and today boasts assets of over 70 billion LIS, with the forecast to exceed 100 billion by 2385.
On the other hand, about the domestic politics, and therefore in the light of the election result and of the massive Thallerist presence in Parliament, Calenda spoke to the Congress:
As direct descendants of what probably was the biggest opponent of the Thallers in Istalia, namely Liberty and Progress, we can only confirm our doubts and our fears. Above all, despite the openness of the Thallerists, who invite us to cooperate with them, I ask you, to the Istalians and to the Thallerists: how can they ask the other political forces of Istalia, founded by istalians for the good of the Country, to collaborate with a party that in its political program openly declares
to have been founded to hit from within one of the most sworn enemies of the Thallers? Who declares openly that he wants to work for the benefit of the Thallers, and not of Istalia?
Do the Istalian Thallerists want to cooperate with us or with the other istalian political forces? Well, we expect a total abjuration of their malevolent anti-istalian mission. We are expecting an oath of loyalty and respect for the Republic and Istalia! We expect total renunciation of any support for any other Thaller or Thallerist political movement in other countries! We expect the total severance of any contact, especially with the Thaller in Narikaton.
This continent and our beautiful country has already suffered enough because of enterprising foreigners part of the Thaller's family who came here like ancient conquerors in search of new dominions! AR, as always, along with the whole of Istalia will continue to stand in the front row against such policies and above all, you can be sure, never any Thaller will abolish the Republic and will encircle a crown in Istalia!
At the end of the Congress journalists were not only attracted by Calenda, but also by Amina Bengazi, who, during the Congress, announced that the Communities of Tolerance, inspired by other examples in this sense, are willing to began what has been described as an ambitious social experiment, namely the foundation of some autonomous communities where volunteers will undertake to implement and experiment with new forms of social coexistence, based on new rules and new associative principles. The first of these communities Mrs Bengazi would like to found it near Angona, taking advantage of the vast reconstruction work that is affecting the city. Famous national architects have already expressed their desire to participate in the design of this experimental community. Some of the journalists, after the exposition of the project by part of Bengazi, underlined how the project recalls the Ataraxian communities in Hutori. However, the Bengazi responded to these comments:
Ataraxian communities? We can not deny they were a source of inspiration, but it is not our intention to create communities subject to rules as stringent as those imposed by the Ataraxian principles. Our communities do not aim at creating isolated communities that are independent from every point of view, and above all, there will not be any social limitations imposed on members. On the contrary, they will be oriented towards making the personality of its members totally express under every aspect, we want to create communities based on libertarian principles, free from ideological or moral impositions and guided by rules based on universal principles of respect for human dignity, where complete development of the individual is at the base of the success and development of the whole community. More than oriented to develop scientific programs, these communities will be great "laboratories" where we can study and experiment human interactions, where we can develop new forms of social and economic development. Many potential members have already put forward their proposals and we are facing the most varied range of socio-economic and political positions! We have eco-communists, we have miniarchists, we have anarchists, we have corporatists... Our community will be dedicated to experimenting and studying social, demographic and economic dynamics.
