Coalition Victory

Today in Lourenne, the PLL-PPD Coalition was victorious. All seats retrieved by the PPD and The PLL were once FNT seats. Clearly, the PPD gained favorable seats. Newly elected Paul-Antoine, brother of Madame Éléonore Marié, spoke in Valois in the National Archives Building's auditorium.

Paul-Antoine is of Orléans Descendance meaning The Orléans Family Leadership is still continuing. Monsieur Président is to speak with PPD officials soon.

Prime Minister Sargent speaks to the nation from PPD headquarters in Valois
Today Prime Minister Arthur Sargent addressed the nation today, and announced that he would in fact run for President in the next elections. It is expected that early elections will be called after the WNF disbanded and had its members resign parliament. Many believe that with this action, the PPD-PLL coalition could be in danger of collapse, and Sargent said that that was a viable possibility. He noted that with only two parties on the ballot, it is highly likely that one will gain a full majority and create a majority government. He stated that the PPD had lucked out in the previous elections, because the PLL could have formed a government on their own. A big question posed by reporters was the question of Sargent's succession. He responded by saying that if he lost, he would return to his position as Prime Minister, but if he won, then the PPD candidate for Prime Minister would be his wife Claudia Sargent, who is on the PPD list for candidates in Carolleux. He then left the stage to allow Mrs. Sargent to speak.

Claudia Sargent speaks at PPD headquarters
Claudia Sargent was announced as a PPD candidate today. The move is considered highly controversial, that Prime Minister Arthur Sargent would announce his wife as a candidate for public office. However, Mrs. Sargent was quick to make it clear that the move should be accepted considering that the PLL had been dominated by the Orleans family for decades. Sargent made it clear that she was qualified to fill the post, having served as a lawyer in Lourenne for 15 years. Mrs. Sargent, who is 38, was born in Eroncourt under the maiden name Claudia Fillon. She went to the University of Valois for law school and graduated from university at 23. She was then hired by Arthur Sargent as a corporate lawyer for Respenser, Inc. and became the company's head general counsel. At the age of 25, she married the Prime Minister and since has become the Chief Ethics Officer at Respenser. When Prime Minister Sargent launched the PPD, she stayed out of politics until she was coaxed into a minor role as PPD general counsel a year ago. At the conference, she made it clear that if she became Prime Minister, she would recuse herself from any matters concerning Respenser but would not sell her share in the company, or leave her position, following the path that the Prime Minister blazed when he became PM.

After the conference, party communications staff told the press that Prime Minister and Mrs. Sargent would be campaigning together across Lourenne.

PPD Leader and Prime Minister Arthur Sargent speaks before the PPD's members on election night
On election night, PPD leaders celebrated a massive victory at PPD headquarters in Carolleux last night. The left-leaning party won 103 seats, 24 more than the last election. Arthur Sargent, party leader, spoke after the victories and stated this:
Thank you to everyone who voted for the PPD at the elections! This has been a massive victory for our country. Our party will continue to rise, because our growth has only begun. The Golden Age of the PLL is almost over. And soon, the Sapphire Age of the PPD will begin! We have a lot of work to do. We must work as an organization to expand so that our message reaches all Lourennians, and let me assure you, our work on that project has already begun. For now, however, we must remain committed to cooperation with our friends in the PLL. Now, of course, I would imagine that some of you probably have a big question for me, and I imagine that is, Where is Claudia?
Well, let me tell you, Claudia is at the hospital in Valois because she only a few hours ago gave birth to our second child, a daughter! What a gift for me! To gain seats in parliament and to have a new daughter! This has been a wonderful night. Now, let us leave this place for now and continue our work to bring Lourenne into the Sapphire Age!
Thank you!

The PPD said afterwards in a press release that they would be debuting a new political campaign called "Forwards" that aimed to recruit women and minorities into the PPD. They also trademarked the terms Sapphire Age, and the slogan Into the Sapphire Age.

- Official State Visit with Kazulia

- Cooperation of Sapphire Age?

This Month PLL officials celebrated Electoral Victory at the Palais des Lumieres in Eroncourt. PLL Officials were celebrating the recent success of the PPD-PLL coalition. M.President Capet-D'Orléans was re-elected and plans to keep M. Sargent as Prime Minister as long as his presidency continues. He spoke to Officials and said:
As long as the PPD and the PLL work together, Lourenne will be a world power and a regional influence.

Also, The President has been planning a state visit to Kazulia. The President has invited The Prime minister and the Foreign Affairs Minister to join him. Kazulian Officials will also visit Lourenne. However, Planning will be discussed with PPD officials.

In the early years of the century, Lourenne was on the verge of collapse. After the collapse of the monarchy, Lourenne was in extreme economic and political turmoil. After the introduction of the Orléans Family, Lourenne rocketed. The Economy improved greatly and there was no division among people. Cities boomed. Infrastructure was improved, and the military powerful. This is the Golden Age of Lourenne. However, The PPD officials have explained that Lourenne is now entering a Sapphire Age.
Image
The President was asked on his thoughts:
My Great family back then Called this the Golden Age because Lourenne went from Crisis to Prosperity. Of course,
now, Lourenne is no longer in crisis. We hold a stable government and economy. It is now the time to improve even more. I agree with the remarks of the prime minister.
Lourenne must now enter the Sapphire Age, more precious than gold. Our coalition will our enhance our progress. It is now time for Lourenne to be the world power my family has worked hard for decades to come true.

The president will speak with PPD officials in the next few months to discuss the visit with Kazulia and further programs for Lourenne.

More to come.

Hector Michaud, Governor of Lucande
In the midst of big news concerning the PPD's gains in the latest elections, one gain for them has gone nearly unnoticed. The PPD won Lucande Arrondissement, and Hector Michaud, the 31 year old Lucande native, became the governor. Before he was recruited by PPD officials to run, Michaud was a graduate student studying sociology. His rise has been so quick that many are calling him a successor to Arthur and Claudia Sargent, the current leaders of the PPD. Already, the leaders are bonding with Michaud. Mrs. Sargent has made multiple visits to Lucande to converse with him, because he has notably refused to leave Lucande unless called upon by the President, Prime Minister, or Chamber of Deputies. And, that decision is for good reason. Just recently, Michaud announced plans to turn Lucande into "the most advanced region of Lourenne." Already, the local government is allocating funds and reviewing submissions to improve Lucande. The governor and his staff came up with a few main areas they were focusing on in modernization that were provided to us. 1) Provide better and more efficient electricity. 2) Transition to a fully "green" energy system. 3) Develop the region to attract more people to live in Lucande. 4) Modernize the cities and towns to provide a modern living experience to the people of Lucande.
More details to come.

Arthur Sargent criticized the nation's "frozen" political environment at the party convention
The Parti Populaire Démocratique held a leadership convention at its headquarters outside of Valois. There were 108 delegates, and Arthur and Claudia Sargent, the Duke and Duchess of Valois, were unanimously elected as co-chairs of the PPD, and Sir Hector Michaud, the Governor of Luçande, was chosen as a Party Deputy Leader. The party has recruited several women, minorities, and young people to run for office through its Forward! campaign, which was evident based on the high number of new people speaking. On convention night, the keynote speakers were Arthur Sargent and Hector Michaud. Sargent spoke about politic's frozen environment, saying, "We of course enjoy a strong relationship with our friends in the PLL, but I don't think that we have been very successful in getting much done. After the election, we're going to try and get more done."
Hector Michaud also spoke.
Image
When Sir Hector Michaud spoke, he emphasized the abilities of the PPD to govern. He stated "In Luçande, we have done a tremendous job of creating jobs and stimulating the economy. Luçande has been the most successful area of Lourenne in terms of economic achievement, crime rates, and employment, and this has been thanks to the policies we have implemented, all of which would be implemented if we are in the majority in parliament."

One of the huge questions of the night was why Claudia Sargent wasn't present at the convention. At a press conference, Sargent said, "Well, Claudia is in the hospital about to give birth to a baby boy. I know, right? Another big party event she misses. Well, our son's big sister Giselle is very excited. Ever since we found out, she's asked about it a million times every day. I have the phrase 'When is the baby going to born' stuck in my head. It's hilarious, she's more anxious about it than we are."

The party released its campaigning schedule afterwards, with Hector Michaud headlining a tour called "Success" that pushed the party's ability to govern and the Sargents headlining a tour called "Into the Sapphire Age." In the press release, it noted "The PLL has attempted to requisition our phrase for themselves, but we're not going to allow that. The Sapphire Age can only happen with the PPD in power, plain and simple. We need new policies, and the PPD is the only vehicle for change."

BREAKING NEWS: A spokesperson from the Parti Populaire Democratique announced that the Minister of Internal Affairs, Fabien Cartier, had passed away last night in his sleep. The 81 year old had served as Minister for Internal Affairs for several years under the PPD-PLL coalition, and now the party is scrambling to find a replacement for him in time for the new elections. A release from the Prime Minister's office called it "a saddening loss" and that "Fabien worked with the Prime Minister on multiple projects to improve the lives of Lourennians that have not gone unnoticed. He has had an excellent tenure and will be missed." Last night, reports surfaced that party leadership were considering placing Sir Hector Michaud, the 33 year old governor of Luçande, in the role, but this has not been confirmed yet. It would be unprecedented, and Michaud would be one of the youngest ministers of state in recent history. However, the move would not be surprising considering that Michaud and Cartier were good friends and that Cartier served as Michaud's mentor during his start in the governorship. A spokesperson for Michaud said "He was honored that he would be considered to fill his mentor's role, but was more concerned about working for the people of Luçande, starting with his meeting with President Capet-Orleans in a few days." Nevertheless, Cartier's presence will be missed, as he was a prolific campaigner, who in the last cycle had toured Luçande, his home state, for the younger Michaud, and had already been participating in the Success tour with him. Needless to say, Fabien Cartier will be missed.

Governor Sir Hector Michaud answers questions at a press conference in Valois
Days before the elections, PPD officials announced that Governor Sir Hector Michaud would be the PPD's nominee for Minister of Internal Affairs. The move came after the previous Minister, Fabien Cartier, passed away. The move had been expected for weeks as PPD officials finished background checks and security clearance forms. Michaud was a natural choice. Before he became Minister, Cartier was a professor of Political Science at Erignac University, and was a mentor to a Michaud. The relationship continued when Cartier urged Michaud to run for office, and was able to get him the PPD nomination for Governor of Luçande in the last election. Cartier didn't stop there, however. He made sure that PPD money was diverted towards the Michaud campaign and hit the trail for him. Afterwards, Michaud and Cartier continued their close relationship, with Cartier giving government support to Michaud's extremely successful modernization campaign. At a press conference, Michaud said he was honored to have been selected, and said that he hoped to continue his mentor's legacy. When asked about whether he would remain governor of Luçande if he became Minister, he said "Yes, that has been a question we have been exploring, but have determined that it is alright for me to hold both positions, as there is no law against it. I will, then, continue my campaign." Now that Michaud has been selected, the PPD has a full docket of cabinet nominees.
