Barajas to lead Peace delegation to Lourenne

Governor Ana Barajas, one of the early (re-) Organizers of the SPoK, prepares to fly to negotiate an end to the Straits Crisis

The Socialist Governor of Odufaray, Ana Barajas, will fly tomorrow to Valois, Lourenne to meet with delegations from Lodamun, Kazulia and Lourenne. The goal of the meetings: To end the Ananto Straits crisis which has plagued safety and Security in Kalistan over the last six years. Though it provided the impetus for Kalistan to return to a traditional orientation with regard to the economy and the security of Kalistan, it came with a fairly heavy toll. More than 100 Kalistani lives were lost, including more than a dozen prisoners held in Kazulia, two Destroyers, and nearly a dozen militia LAFA craft, in addition to the cuts in trade and threats to supply in the Straits between Mainland and Ananto.

The accidental destruction of a Lodamese Frigate signaled the potential to escalate the war into a regional conflict which would drag regional powers in, and Lodamun, Lourenne and Kalistan called for an immediate ceasefire rather than expansion of the war. Kalistan has accepted the Lourennaise offer for peace talks in Valois, and Barajas was tapped by the Foreign Ministry to lead the Kalistani Delegation. This will be her first such mission, but the Government feels that Barajas is ready. Additionally, word has it that President Johnson-Bennots is planning to retire after this term and a successful negotiation could open the door for Barajas to move up in the Party.

Barajas will leave tomorrow with full authority to negotiate peace in the conflict with Lourenne. The Government has made it explicit that she is to not trade Kalistani Sovereignty in the Straits for concessions. "We will do what we can, And are certainly open to removing all restrictions on commercial traffic," Barajas declared. "But Kalistan will never agree that the Straits shall become highways for the offensive militaries of the world again. This is far too serious an ask, and it was what this war was about in the first place. Kalistani Security is imperative in Kalistani Waters, and is far above the convenience of any foreigner on the list of Kalistani Priorities."

Barajas will leave Kaliburg tomorrow morning on the first direct flight to Lourenne since the Crisis began.

Ministry of Defense Building(below)

After planning with the Keymonite government and closed talks between Lourennais and Keymonite officials, The Lourennais Ministry of Defense has released a schedule involving joint-military cooperation between Keymon and Lourenne. Currently, Lourennais comapnies are helping Keymon expand and modernize their sea ports. Hutori is very much involved in Keymon's military modernization as well. Once the Keymon military is ready to begin operations, The schedule released by the ministry of defense is as follows:

The Lourennais Ministry of Defense proposes an 8 day training operation to Improve the overall effectiveness of the Keymonite military:

Days 1-4: Lourennais and Keymonite conservative paramilitary troops will engage in joint training, planning and executing a series of paramilitary training activities.

Day 5-7:Lourennais and Keymonite Air Forces will engage in joint training, planning and executing a series of aerial training activities.

Day 8: Lourennais and Keymonitemaritime troops will engage in joint training, planning and executing a series of maritime training activities.

Days 1-4 will take place in the mountains of the Barrier Range in OutannIS, Lourenne

Days 5-8 will take place in the skies and waters near Turtle Bay, Keymon

The ministry of defense will not release a statement regarding what equipment and troops will be participating in the training. However, it is expected that most 1st tier equipment and the most professionally trained troops will be participating in training. Military training between Lourenne and Keymon is expected to be more concerning on training Keymonite troops than Lourennais troops. It is unknown if any weapons manufacturers or developers will travel or work with Keymon during training. Capet-Fouquet Industries has already begun to work on ships with the Klavian Navy. Entreprise des Défenseurs has not yet made a decision on whether it will expand its services to Keymon and help with their military's modernization. However, it is likely that they will.

President honours new Son of Lodamun
August 4, 4414

Port Golavia- Two members of the Lourennais Navy were welcomed in Presidium today. They were there after the Presidium had accepted their nomination for the military medal Son of Lodamun unanimously. The two men, Commandant Laponte and Commandant Grenadine, both commanding officers of one of Lourennes naval ships had called for a ceasefire after a Lodamese frigate sank during the Battle of the Strait. They immediately commenced a search and rescue operation in the vicinity to search for survivors. Unfortunately, none of the 12 missing sailors could be recovered. Nevertheless, President Devis honoured the bravery and galantry of the two men.
(The people of Lodamun thank you for the choices you have made on that specific day. Although you haven't recovered any of the 12 missing sailors, your actions have avoided a true massacre. This nomination shows that you both have conquered a place in our hearts, untill the end of times. Today we witness a historical moment, since you are the first non-citizens of Lodamun to receive this medal. There's nothing left for me to do but to thank you."

Construction begins on large resort complex
The small mountain village of Avienne-les-Bains is up for a new look as a sprawling resort town as construction of the Avienne resort gets underway. The complex is planned to include separate four- and five-star hotels, world-class dining, winter skiing, a kids' resort, a spa, an 18-hole championship golf course and an adjoining golf lodge, and a large grass-court tennis facility. The golf course and tennis courts are both scheduled to host major national championships upon completion. Local assembly representative and longtime advocate for the resort Lucas Couples says the resort will benefit not only the Avienne area, but also the entire nation. "A resort of this caliber here in Les-Bains will be a big boost for the local economy, but the draw to this well-kept secret will spark the Lourennian tourist budget and show all of Terra what our beautiful region has to offer," said Couples in a press conference preceding the groundbreaking. The start of construction comes as Avienne's namesake water company announces a new campaign of fruit- and plant-flavored waters. Analysts suggest this could bring Avienne's unique-tasting water onto the world stage, possibly putting it into competition with international soda make Rocc Cola, which has been attacked in Lourenne in recent years for its unhealthiness.

New Company, Avienne® introduces itself to Lourenne and Terra

Avienne® logo (below)
Image

Recently, news press from the Lourenne Quotidien announced the construction of a new resort in Outannais. This resort belongs to a new private company called Avienne®. Avienne ® is a company based on opening luxurious resorts, small golf and tennis areas, and relaxing spas. Avienne® as well owns a new line of healthy fruit-based waters and pure spring water straight from the sources of the Rasten Mountains in Outannais. The once small town of Ferte-Dessigne in Outannais has been renamed in favour of the new company and the many resorts that it will provide in Outannais. Avienne® has chosen Outannais and the Rasten Mountains for the location of their resorts as a result of Outannais's very temperate and cool mountain climate and its far proximity from any large populated area. Construction of the new Avienne® Resort began in 4414 and is expected to open in late 4416. The resort at Avienne-les-Baines will be open year round. Winters at the resort will be available for skiing at the mountains' snowy peaks. Summers at the resort will be available for tennis, golf, spas,. swimming, and simple relaxing activities. Mild Seasons such as Spring and Autumn will be similar to summer activities, however, seasonal rainfall in the country will change the outcome of certain events and activities at the resort.

After the announcement of the resort, Avienne® quickly began to produce and package its new fruit water amd spring water (sparkling and regular). The company has released natural, healthy waters that are made at Avienne-les-Baines. Avienne® has released a list of all the drinks that the company is currently producing and that will be produced:

L'Eau D'Avienne
Produits pour 4415:

-Natural Spring Water w/Lemon and Elderflower

-Natural Spring Water w/Grape and Rose

-Natural Spring Water (Sparkling)

-Natural Spring Water W/ Lemon (Sparkling)

-Natural Spring Water W/ Raspberry (Sparkling)

All of these products are currently for sale in all of Lourenne, however, not all stores may have them. Avienne® 's main executives have explained that they are willing to expand Avienne®, its resorts and its products, to other nations once it has become situated in Lourenne. Avienne® 's executives also shut down the opportunity for Hutorian based Rocc-Cola ® to expand to Lourenne. Eroncourt recently expressed a desire to expand Rocc-Cola ® to Lourenne, but instantly rejected the idea as a result of Avienne® 's creation. Instead, Eroncourt and Avienne-les-Baines will take the initiative to expand Avienne® and compete against Rocc-Cola ® who provides very unhealthy products to some of Terra and Hutori. Avienne-les-Baines is currently a town in construction as the luxury resort is beginning to take shape. With its hotels almost completed, Avienne® 's resort in Outannais is already looking successful. It is expected that a large amount of the resort's income will be from tourists and the company's water products. Lourenne's tourism budget will greatly increase after the completion of the resort as well as Avienne-les-Baines's budget.

As Lourenne Government Prepares to Liberalize Finance Sector, Hawu Mumenhes Big Banks Seek to Take Advantage

Image
Banque Populaire, a local subsidiary of investment banking multinational IeUkN, is completing construction of 200 branches across Lourenne

ERONCOURT -- Foreign investors hailed the move by Lourenne's Chamber of Deputies today to begin liberalizing the country's financial sector. For years, Lourenne's arch-socialist policy orientation has seen the bulk of means-of-production owned and operated by the state. But after decades of Parti Libéral-led coalitions pushing for a more assertive role on the international stage, the orthodoxy of nationalization is beginning to fray.

'You can't be a big power if you horde everything in the state,' says Véronique Genet, Co-Chairperson of the Lourennais-Hawu Chambre de Commerce Commune, a newly-formed trade group made up of Hawu and Lourennais companies and executives seeking to take advantage of increasing economic relations between the two countries. 'The government wants to unite Canrille; et fight every war! How can you be chef du empire if other countries of your empire can't do business in your country? C'est impossible!,' Genet exclaimed during a gala event marking the Chambre de Commerce Commune's launch.

But Genet and her Chambre colleagues aren't just campaigning or wining-and-dining. In her day job, Genet is also the Président of Banque Populaire. If you're wondering what that is, you won't have to wonder for long. Genet and her team have quietly broke ground at 200 hundred sites throughout Lourenne, all slated to service Lourennais customers as local branches of the fast-growing behemoth. And precisely how did Genet manage to build such a large new company under Eroncourt's stringent anti-private sector laws? 'With help from our new Hawu amis,' she says wistfully. Under the newly-inked Hawu-Lourennais Trade Agreement, private sector businesses from both countries are allowed to transact business with consumers and fellow companies to the tune of $100 Billion LOD. Ignoring the nationalization laws, Genet and her partners bought up deeds to vacant lots across Lourenne, few of them zoned for the nearly non-existent private retail sector. The construction outlay alone racked up to a cool $150 Million LOD. 'We dared the regulators to try and stop us,' Genet intoned at the launch gala. 'We chose to make a big splash with the 200 branches to force the government to confront the contradictions of its étranger et économique politiques, and we won!,' Genet boasted to applause. By 'won,' she was referring to the Parti la Façon de Gouverner's Fair Banking Act which seeks to legalize privately-owned community banks.

While Genet's claim to credit for the Fair Banking Act is questionable (the bill hasn't passed the Chamber of Deputies yet, though the YEAs are currently leading; either way, the governing coalition has been pushing in this direction for some time), her gambit is almost certain to revolutionize Lourenne's financial sector -- and its economy at large. 'What we want to see in the Lourenne market is higher wages, higher savings, and more investment,' says Ahmose Kheperu who, as Chairman of Genet's Banque Populaire, serves on the bank's Board of Directors as representative of the bank's largest shareholder, Hawu Mumenhes multinational firm IeUkN. 'As the international investor community, we see People's Bank as an ideal vehicle to contribute to those goals.' On top of the $280 Million LOD already spent on construction and staffing costs ($130 MIllion LOD of that went to the latter, which works out to an average of 18.5 mostly-local employees per branch each earning about $35k a year), the company plans to flood the Lourenne market with competitive-rate residential and business loans -- just the kind of mass finance that's known for (and essential to) building a large consumer economy.

'We are going to revolutionize the economy. And then Lourenne will revolutionize the world,' Genet proclaimed to shouts of Viva Banque Populaire! Viva Lourenne! Viva Canrille!

Capet-Fouquet Industries and Entreprise Des Défénseurs Expand to Hawu Mumenhes

After signing the Hawu-Lourennais Trade Treaty, companies in Lourenne quickly began to look for expansion options to Hawu Mumenhes. The treaty outlined by the Hawu Mumenhes government called for Lourennais Naval Industries to expand to Hawu Mumenhes as well as arms manufacturing and bérét manufacturing. Following the announcement from le Banque Populaire, Capet-Fouquet Industries will expand its locations to AqQEK in Hawu Mumenhes to work on naval projects including warships and commercial ships. Industrie Capet-Fouquet has helped the Lourennais Navy expand. Not only has it helped with ships for the Lourennais armed forces but for commercial trade as well. Industrie Capet Fouquet has now announced that they will open a new manufacturing center on the shores of AqQEK in Hawu Mumenhes in 4418. The new manufacturing center will be capable of producing large commercial ships for Hawu trade as well as warships for the Hawu military, which is in need of modernization. Military cooperation between Hawu Mumenhes and Lourenne has not yet been announced, but it almost certain that both countries will soon be cooperating on modernizing and training the Hawu military.

Also expanding to Hawu Mumenhes is Entreprise Des Défénseurs. The private arms manufacturer company has announced that they too will be expanding to Hawu Mumenhes. Entreprise Des Défénseurs, Lourenne's top weapons manufacturer, is not specifically aligned with the economic treaty, but will have to expand to Hawu Mumenhes as a result of the weapons needed to be added on to warships. Entreprise Des Défénseurs also creates weapons and missile systems for aircraft which will also be expanded to Hawu Mumenhes. It is not known yet if AirLourenne or Canrille Air Lines will be opening aircraft manufacturing centers in Hawu Mumenhes, however aircraft manufacturing will expand to the country in accordance to the economic treaty signed between both nations.

Lourennais Navy announces completion of 4 Parment-Class Destroyers

4 Parment-Class Destroyers in the Anantonese Ocean.
Image

Since construction began in 4406, workers from Capet-Fouquet Industries and Entreprise Des Défenseurs have worked non-stop to complete all of the destroyers that both companies planned. Construction took place at Orléans Naval Station Base and Le Port D'Artaine in Valois. Planning for the destroyers began early in 4406 when the Delaune-Class Frigates were complete. Construction of the Destroyers was suspended for a few days as a result of seasonal rains near Carolleux. However, the ships were completed with facilitation and success. Pennington-Reid from Kazulia helped with some processes of the building of the ships when the companies struck errors or when workers from the three companies were fatigued. Pennington-Reid came in to help the construction at times and was a valuable asset to the finalization of the ships. Of the 4 destroyers that were constructed, 2 were built in Valois and 2 were built in Outannais (Orléans Naval Station Base).

All ships have received surface-to-air missiles, torpedo launchers, anti-ship missiles, and anti-aircraft guns from Entreprise des Défenseurs. All Ships also have 1 x 76 mm (3 in) dual-purpose guns and 3 x 20 mm (0.8 in) cannons. Capet-Fouquet Industries have completely structured all Ships. Their interior and exterior designs have all been provided the Capet-Fouquet Industries. Strong armor had been applied to all sides of the ships, very similar to the armor that was applied the Delaune-Class Frigates.
Finally, Manon-Maison Communications provided communication systems for the destroyers. Also, Manon-Maison included new computer systems to the ships only for the command center in the center of the ships. Manon-Maison used the same communication systems as they used for the Delaune-Class Frigates.

All Ships have been tested in the Anantonese Ocean to make sure the ships are ready for national service. Ships in Valois Bay made their way to Orléans Naval Station Base where most of the Lourennais Navy is located. Ships will remain at the base unless they are needed for training or any emergency.

TODAY'S HEADLINES

Triplett's Greens clash with Liberals on military reform
ERONCOURT - Les Verts, led by majority leader Emily Triplett and Avienne-les-Bains representative Lucas Couples, appear to be in position to pass a military policy overhaul that would move Lourenne far to the left. Triplett negotiated support from the socialist Insurrection Sociale, although her coalition colleagues, the Parti Liberal, is firmly voting no. This comes as the new Parti le Facon de Gouverner has also proposed a military policy bill of their own. However, that bill looks like it will fail 68-70, as the socialists are voting no, and the Greens have been whipped to abstain. Triplett-Couples, when passed, will ban the use and research of nuclear weapons, eliminate the military service requirement, ban the use of UAVs, and change the army to a volunteer force.

Canrille finally coming together
ERONCOURT - The long-awaited Federation of Canrille appears to be becoming a reality. Lourenne is leading the way for a coalition with Rildanor and Kanjor, with all three countries hoping for Aldurie to make a commitment soon. A union of Canrillaise nations has been attempted multiple times over the years, but this time appears to be the first time in recent years that efforts will succeed. The union could bring great economic and diplomatic benefits to the nations involved.

Avienne-les-Bains resort opens doors
AVIENNE-LES-BAINS - The main Avienne resort, in the mountain village of Avienne-les-Bains, opened to guests today. The resort contains a four-star and five-star hotel in separate facilities, a spa, a kids resort, lawn tennis facilities, and an 18-hole golf course accompanied by a "Chalet de Golf". Excitement about the Les-Bains resort has lit up Lourenne: the hotels are booked for months and thousands turned out to watch the opening tee shot on the golf course, hit by Lourennian Open champion Landry DeChambeau. An Avienne-les-Bains native, DeChambeau will become the touring club professional for the resort. Plans are in place to expand the golf facilities to include multiple new courses and a driving range and extensive practice facility are under construction. The course will likely soon join the rotation for the Lourennian Open, and the tennis courts are rumored to be planning to play host to the Lourennian Lawn Tennis Championships in a few years. Multiple cafes, fine dining restaurants, and pool bars are also open throughout the property. Resorts are also under construction in Skalm, Kazulia and Turtle Bay, Klavia.

Lourennians more active than ever
TIFFANIE - A new government report released today indicates that the people of Lourenne are now among the most physically active in Terra, following an uptick in the amount of citizens playing sports. This can be attributed partially to kids and young adults being inspired by players like golfer Landry DeChambeau and tennis player Vivienne Mattek-Sands to get involved in sports. Thus, tennis and golf are now by far the most popular sports among kids in Lourenne. Officials worry that there may even be a shortage of facilities for kids to play sports. Mattek-Sands celebrated the news, saying in a statement that "I think it's great that kids are getting off the couch and onto the tennis court".
