Conservative caucus prepares for next year's electionEroncourt, Jôviant | September 4923The conservative caucus of the National Restoration Party (PRN), headed by recently-elected chairwoman Nicolette Dutoit, is preparing its message for the next national election scheduled for June 4924. The group is hoping to present itself as a moderate and financially sensible force that can push for some degree of economic liberalisation while broadly aligning itself to green politics and progressivism on most social issues. The caucus is particularly advertising its legislative achievements, including in moderating regulations around democratic workers' councils and increasing the age limit for school leavers. Some of these policies have been welcomed by other factions of the PRN, while other more stringently conservative ideas have created an ideological gap between different parts of the party. Caucus chair Nicolette Dutoit has taken appearances on national television as an opportunity to market the group as a 'safe pair of hands' for the Lourennais economy and herself as an everywoman with the know-how to advance Lourennais interests abroad.
Dutoit will run against High Chancellor Arnaud for the highest position in the land, though Dutoit's public profile is much less well-known compared to Arnaud's. Arnaud, or any similarly-minded candidate, would be favoured against the conservative candidate in most potential match-ups. After working as a management consultant in Eroncourt, Dutoit served for thirteen years on the city council of her birthplace Liroux in the arrondissement Jôviant, at one point being the deputy chair of the local government. Her reputation in the town is one of broad competence and popularity among her constituents, though she has also been associated with a level of financial stringency during the town's periods under more conservative leadership. If she fails in her chancellery ambitions, Dutoit will be hoping to win an assembly seat based on her support in this locality and has conscripted other high-profile local officials to run on the national level.
