Centre-Ville District, Valois:After years of construction, renovations, and modernization the Valois City
Council was pleased to announce the completion of the downtown Valois Reconstruction Project. The
project included the renovation of buildings in the downtown Valois area, a renovation of all public
parks and recreational areas, as well as the construction of new "public" plazas. The renovation started
with the modernization of various buildings in downtown Valois such as the Andiron Hotel and Conference
center, the Avignon Airlines Headquarters building, as well as the Valois City Hall and Royal Council
complex. Most buildings within the downtown district were upgraded and modernized to new management
standards directed by the Ministry of Health and Social Services and the Ministry of Infrastructure.
The renovation project called for the upgrade of several national and city parks. One park in particular was
the Royal Gardens next to the National Art and History Museum next to the Valois River. The park's information
and management building was renovated and new lights were added throughout the park. Other parks of
smaller size were also renovated in a similar way to the Royal Gardens.
The Valois City Council began a new project called "Public Plazas". Public Plazas, according to the Valois City
Council, are "large, public entertainment and leisure areas where the residents of Valois can have a meal,
exercise, spend time with others, relax, hold public rallies, shop, enjoy local markets, and simply walk around."
The City Council planned for three new public plazas, two on the west side of the Valois River and one on
the east. The plazas are now open to the public and have access to restaurants, markets, shopping centers,
public transportation, information kiosks, and more. The opening of the new public plazas are expected to
draw in more people to the downtown Valois area and boost local businesses and jobs.
