Shophet Declares State of EmergencySékhmet Shophet Tahir Gido has announced that fourteen militia have signed voluntary cooperation agreements with the Barmenistani state. The militia will receive "training subsidies" from the State and carry out their operations "in coordination with the Government." The move is part of the Shophet's
ambitious agenda to centralise and reform the Barmenistani armed forces with the aim of marginalising and possibly absorbing the country's estimated 80-90 militia groups. As part of this plan, 150 Zardic soldiers arrived in the country last week to train the local army. Gido has declared his ambition to double the size of the Barmenistani Ground Forces and police force over the coming decade.
Kathuri Cities Announce "Autonomy Referendum"Ur Bahra At an annual conference of Kathuri local government leader, Mayor Sargon Nezzar of Korat announced that 51 cities and towns in Kathuristan and Arhe have signed a declaration of intent to hold a "nationwide" referendum on autonomous governance for Kathuristan in the next five years. Mayors from Afre which forms part of the Afre and Kathuristan governorate abstained from voting, some loudly denouncing the move.
Kathuristan is the most culturally, ethnically and religious unique part of Barmenistan being largely inhabited by Hosians who identify emotionally more with Cildania where their ancestor hailed from than Bihezi (OOC: Kurdish) majority mainland Barmenistan. In the 48th century the isle suffered chemical attacks from the Social Nationalist Government an event largely described as an attempted genocide by scholars The Shophet has denounced the announcement as "a chauvinistic and pointless development" and pledged to uphold the indivisibility of the Barmenistani state as per his inauguration oath.
Militia Warns Beiteynu The head of the Northern Wolves Grzkai Barzani has issued a warning to the Beiteynuese government which has apparently deployed more troops along it's border with Barmenistan in anticipation of increased instability. Barzani, who claims to command a militia numbering some 3,000 Wolves said that his militia which is located just west of the border would increase its patrols and "destroy Beiteynu without any mercy if it makes any aggressive moves. Ranting on his weekly podcast, he blamed Beiteynu's conduct on "monopoly capital and money men's hunger for world control."
