Friendly Gesture or Stupidity?

BBC - After early elections were called by the Conservative Democratic Party to evenly spread the government, The CDP saw a dramitic loss in seats in the Grand Assembly of Barmenia as well as Jason C. Kennedy losing the seat of President. His brother, Jacob C. Kennedy, remains Premier until further notice but this could change if president-elect Bob B. Baker see the need.

BBC - Today, In a annoucement out of Royalsborough, Premier Jacob C. Kennedy annouced that the Grand State of Barmenia shall no longer associate with the Axis Alliance. Also coming out of the conference was President Jason C. Kennedy was no longer in the nation but instead heading to the Holy Selucian Empire to continue talks as they continue to form a strong friendship between the nations. Premier Kennedy commented on the Axis as being "evil" and "not fit to protect everyone under them." Below is a exerpt from the speech Premier Kennedy gave.

BBC - With President Jason C. Kennedy out of the country temporarily, Premier Jacob C. Kennedy has seemingly filled in the roled as he recently pronounced that Barmenia is preparing itselfs to aide Selucia if they enter war with Badara. Premier Kennedy gave a speech to troops over the weekend. Below is a exerpt from his speech.

"In Selucia they could be preparing to enter battle with Badara, and if they do we are obiliged to enter alongside them. However I, and President Kennedy has decided that we shall try to ease tensions. So as I speak President Kennedy is preparing to leave to the Holy Selucian Empire, and I have tryed to contact the administration in Badara to arrange a meeting. It is my best interest and President Kennedy's that Barmenia stay out of it but we will fight if a fight ensues before we can come to a resolution."

BBC - Today, the Grand Assembly majority leader, Senator Earick F. Kennedy, spoke out againist the Free Democratic Party who has proposed two bills that they have labeled 'Freedom Bills'. Senator Kennedy claimed that the contents of the bills were "ridiculous" and "far to extreme for freedom". Among some of the proposed laws the are being opposed are:

* Employers are free to fire workers who go on strike.; The current laws, that were set by the Conservative Democratic Party forbid employers to fire workers who go on strike.

* The use of land mines is allowed; Th current law does allow the use of landmines but with restrictions.

* Health care is entirely private; The current law has a public health care system but it allows private clinics.

* Gambling is legal across the nation, no regulation what so ever; Currently Gambling is only legal in casinos.

Senator Kennedy released a statement to the press shortly after he and his 100 fellow senators voted no on both of the so-called "Freedom bills".

"They [the Free Democratic Party] believe they are promoting freedom but what they are really promoting is Anarchy and the current administration as well as the Grand Assembly Senators do not believe that anarchist should be allowed to run in elections. Upon leaving here today Me, and some of my most prestigious colleagues will meet with Minister King [Minister of Justice, Tobian W. King] to see if they can be placed on trial for anarchy, because frankly anarchy is what they are promoting."

BBC - Today, outside Barmenia's capital in Royalsborough Premier Jacob C. Kennedy spoke to a crowd on many upcoming activities. Premier Kennedy first started off by annoucing on behalf of the Conservative Democratic Party and his brother, President Jason C. Kennedy, that Premier Kennedy will be seeking the President's chair in 2952. Also annouced by Premier Kennedy that Barmenia will be withdrawing any support they have offered torwards the Holy Selucian Empire after the recent murder that Selucian officals are responsible for. "We, Barmenia, have tried to stand by Selucia as brothers but we can no longer as it could become a threat to us. Selucia has made some judgement calls that we can not stand by with, I'm not saying I question any of their decisions but I can not stand by and say that we, Barmenia approve of it. We wish they would have spoken with President Kennedy, who was susposed to visit Selucia but was turned back at the border, before going this far. That is all I will say on this issue besides the fact they we will stay out of this war unless we are drug into it."

BBC - Shortly after being turn away by Selucian Officals President Jason C. Kennedy returned to see the many of his colleagues had began painting his younger brother as president, this however he is not. President Kennedy was went over by his party, and his brother to turn Barmenia's back on his close friend in Selucia. President Kennedy quickly release a state in press conference about 34 mins after stepping of a airplane from Selucia.

"I would like to offically offer a aplogy on behalf of my party, and Premier Jacob C. Kennedy. They went behind my back to attack Selucia. They did not consult me, and they proposed that Barmenia withdraw from the treaty of brotherhood between Barmenia and Selucia. I'm here to say this will not go past me, my party and Premier Kennedy forgot who was in charge and I want them to know about my disappointment torwards this. Selcuia has been nothing but helpful to Barmenia for the past 20 years and I believe if my father was still alive this would not be happening but unfortuanatly he is no longer alive and this has happen. As soon as I get to my office I will be issueing a order to prepare and mobilize as war has begun. Thank you everyone."

Royal Barmenian Navy mobilizes; Royal Barmenian Air Force to follow


BBC - Today, President Jason C. Kennedy and Minister of Defence, Johan V. Barce, sent two vessels east torwards Al'Badara to assit Selucians who recently mobilized. Amung the two vessels sent was one aircraft carrier and one battlecruiser. More ships and planes are planed on being sent. No word on when the Royal Barmenian Army will be sent.

Jason C. Kennedy at his most recent press conference

BBC - Today, In press conference Her Royal Majesty, Queen Rebeca I, Princess of Augusta's Regent Jason C. Kennedy annouced plans on the war and the future of Barmenia. Regent Kennedy annouced today that the Royal Barmenian Navy will station itself outside of the Selucian ports to "protect" their ports from Badaran attacks. A statement released by Kennedy is shown below. Also annouced by Kennedy is that in December when elections come around he will not seek re-election and instead back Peter L. Marshall of the Libertarian Catholic Party.

"Today, Barmenian naval ships are staying in Selucian where they will remain until need be. Barmenia does not want this war and we plan to take the most minimal approach. We will protect our brother in selucia when the need be. Are ship will guard them until Badaran becomes a threat to Barmenia.

Barmenian Catholic Monarchy Established

November 2951: Pro-Selucian parties in Barmenia selected the Selucian Imperator's daughter Rebeca I to be their Monarch in a quiet ceremony. Rebeca, Princess of Augusta (2947-) will be assigned an elected Regent until she is 18. Conservative Democratic Party President Jason C. Kennedy and Libertarian Catholic Party Shadown Premier Peter L. Marshall worked extensively with Selucia to coordinate the expansion of the Selucian Monarchy to Barmenia. For all practical purposes, the Regent will have the same role as the President.

Radical Islamic factions were outraged at the news claiming that this was just another insult by the foreign Catholic regime. The former Islamic Monarchy of Barmenia was never seriously considered by the Pro-Selucian Catholic Coalition. The Internationalist Monarchist League is in the process of considering the legitimacy of the new Monarchy. The new Monarch will reside in Selucia where she will be raised and schooled by her parents and relatives.

Grand Mufti Appointed

April 2592: The Grand Assembly passed the creation of the Grand Mufti position by a unanimous vote. The Grand Mufti is to represent the Islamic faith in Barmenia and will be a liaison between the Muslim commoners and the Catholic government. Mahmud Falah Safar (2885-) was selected among the Islamic scholars to fill the role. While some Islamic scholars have high regard for Mahmud Falah Safar as a scholar of Islamic law, others believe he will simply be a puppet for a Catholic government seeking legitimacy after a poor turnout in the 2946 election. In addition, other Islamic critics state that only Muslims can select the Grand Mufti, not an infidel government. Grand Mufti Safar has requested his followers to strive for peace and cooperation with the Catholic government.

As if to repudiate critics claim that he is a mere puppet, Grand Mufti Safar has requested that the government end its aggressive stance against Al-Badara, an Islamic country. The CDP government has answered by stating that Barmenia will continue to defend Selucia from all offensive attacks by Al-Badara but will not engage Al-Badara offensively.

May 2952: State Governors were created by the Barmenian Grand Assembly as part of the LCP's platform of decentralizing the government. A party shall be a granted a Governorship for every region they win a plurality in the elections. Parties that come in second place in each region will be granted a Lt. Governorship. Going off the 2946 election, the CDP will be granted five Governorships.

Although approval was unanimous, critics point out that a party could in theory have a plurality in the Grand Assembly and not have a plurality in any one region. Shadow Premier Peter L. Marshall who wrote the legislation stated that this possibility was "very unlikely" and "irrelevant" even if it did happen. Critics also criticized the fact that a party with less than 1% of the vote in a region could receive a Lt. Governorship if they were second place. The five Governors are commonly referred to as the Council of Five or Big Five.
