Foreign Minister Pram Inos Releases Legal Statement on Treaties

Image
Foreign Minister Inos addresses a crowd in Talasor

"The Following is a statement we wish to release to the international community regarding Mordusia and the obligations and commitments other nations have made to Mordusia. Let me begin by pointing out that each of these agreements bind nations to Mordusia in a matter of mutual defense. We therefore, for the sake of upholding international law and any future global constitutions and agreements, urge those nations who wish for their word to be valued, to affirm their commitment to following:

The Federation of Zadrugal, the Kingdom of Endralon, the Holy Luthori Empire, the Commonwealth of Yishelem and Beiteynu, the Kingdom of Keymon, the Republic of Malivia, the Commonwealth of Rutania, and United Jakania are all under treaty obligation to not attack Mordusia. Furthermore, if Mordusia is attacked, they are obligated by similar Agreement to come to her defense.

This is under the Axis Agreement Clause 2.2 which states that 'This Treaty ensures that in cases where an Axis nation exerts aggression towards a fellow Axis Military Treaty nation, the Axis Military Treaty members are obliged to support the defending nation. The aggressor may face ejection from the Axis Military Treaty, as per Article 4.2.'

If the Holy Luthori Empire aggresses in any way against Mordusia, we call for those who have ratified the agreement to stand by Mordusia who shall uphold her agreement. We pose no threat to Luthori, nor do we intent to engage them directly or indirectly in any military or economic escalation.

If any nation has any questions concerning this matter, the Foreign Ministry welcomes them and looks forward to an engaging, broad dialogue among the nations of the IML and Mordusia. We do not seek a military conflict, and we are shocked by the outrage over simply discussing a Bill in our legislature. We assert our right to do this. May God grant us all wisdom in the days and months ahead."

Foreign Ministry Welcomes Peace Conference

The Foreign Minister today announced that Mordusia "was willing to sit at the negotiating table without preconditions." Minister Inos, who has served as Foreign Minister for Mordusia for 14 years, stressed the need for broad, transparent discussions on the future of Mordusia and its place on the international level. Recalling the commitment of Mordusia to the Axis Alliance and vice-versa, she called for an immediate conference of the leadership to affirm the principles outlined in the AAT.

She further emphasized the equality among members of the Axis Alliance. For, "the Axis Alliance binds all of its members, regardless of prestige, power, or status to a set of common principles, chiefly the goal of non-aggression amongst its members. We heartily appreciate the messages from several Axis Members voicing their support for Mordusian sovereignty."

The recent elections called recognized a shift in Head of State, to the ANLO's Pro-Republic Michael Blair; however, the Viceroy has agreed to defer the important diplomatic decisions for the time being to the Foreign Minister.

The Commonwealth of Nations of Terra Alliance Treaty, Foreign Affairs Memo

The Imperial Dominion of Mordusia has ratified the Commonwealth of Nations Treaty, and it has been in effect for over fifty years time. Mordusia has upheld the principles of the treaty, and wishes to make clear several points in the CNTA.

As Article II, Section 2 clearly states "In order to become a member of the Commonwealth, you must either at one point have been or still are under the rule of the ruling family of Henry I." The key point is the distinction that allows for previous rule under the Henry I dynasty. Should the duly elected representatives of the Imperial Diet decide to withdraw themselves from the rule of the Emperor, they still shall be eligible for membership.

All members of the CNTA are entitled to a Mutual Defense Pact, if they are aggressed upon by another nation. As an equal member of the CNTA, regardless of our governmental system, Mordusia has the right to not be attacked by any other member of the CNTA.

Mordusia wishes to re-iterate its right to sovereignty and its peaceful ambitions for the debate on whether or not to transition. The point of this memo is to continue communication and dialogue in an open manner. The Mordusian Government has been an active, peaceful participant on the world stage for many years, even before it was a constitutional monarchy. Regardless of our governmental structure, we shall remain committed to peace in the world.

Mordusia and Luthori Agree to Talks
Rutanian Foreign Minister to Mediate; Hopes to End Crisis over Monarchy
Image
Rutanian Foreign Minister Henry Cosgrave talking about the upcoming talks between Mordusia and Luthori

Port Nelson- Foreign Minister Henry Cosgrave announced today that the Holy Luthori Empire and the Imperial Dominion of Mordusia have agreed to sit down and work towards an end to a diplomatic crisis that has reached a boiling point over the past few months. "It is my honor to announce that the governments of Luthori and Mordusia have agreed to a conference," Cosgrave said at a press conference this morning. "We have been in constant contact with out counterparts in both Luthori and Mordusia, and we have agreed to mediate the talks in the hope to prevent an outbreak of violent conflict."

The recent tensions between the two nations was caused by a debate in the Mordusian Diet regarding the status of the monarchy in the country. Some parties favored replacing the monarchy as head of state, which prompted a sharp response from Luthori, which shares the same monarch as Mordusia. The crisis escalated to a point where violent action was threatened by some in those governments, prompting the intervention by the Rutanian Foreign Ministry and the offer to help both sides reach a settlement.

The talks, while not yet having a set date, are expected to begin within the next month in Port Seaborg.

Foreign Minister Welcomes Talks

Foreign Minister Pram Inos today announced her "excitement about the sensible nature of the international community to agree to peaceful negotiations on the matter at hand." The talks, which will be held by Rutanian Foreign Minister Henry Cosgrace, will include delegates from Luthori and Mordusia. As tensions have increased between the two, Mordusia has been seeking a summit of some sort to avert violence between the two countries.

Minister Inos concluded her conference by saying "I would like to point out that every seated Party in Mordusia, and even those who have yet to gain seats, supports a peaceful Mordusia. We are not a nation of violence, but of peace. We will uphold our right to sovereignty, but we are willing to be reasonable negotiators with our long-standing friends in Luthori."

Foreign Minister Urges Peace, Calls for Drawdown of Aldurian Border Build-up

Image
FA Minister Pram Inos at a "Talks for Peace" Rally ahead of the upcoming Luthori-Mordusia Summit

In a series of efforts to draw up public support for the upcoming peace talks with Luthori, Foreign Minister Pram Inos took time out of her schedule to hit the road at a series of "Talks for Peace" rallies across the country. Many of the citizens of the Imperial Dominion wish for an immediate transition and the passage of the Republican Reformation Act, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken the duty upon itself to communicate to the Mordusian people the value of diplomatic engagement.

The Foreign Minister applauded "the efforts of the international community at large to value peace and sovereignty at a time when the Mordusian people and their duly elected representatives are taking a moment of internal reflection on the most important of our institutions. We do not take this lightly, and we mean no harm or offense to any other country." Minister Inos repeatedly stated that "Mordusia is a nation of peace and seeks to maintain its policy of multilateral engagement."

On the subject of the summit, Minister Inos claimed that "Rutania has taken upon itself a massive burden, and for this they have our eternal gratitude and thanks. The tensions between Luthori and Mordusia are unfortunate between the two allies, and it is our honest goal to see them mended in a way that is acceptable to our friends and allies of many years."

The Minister urged the Mordusian people "to see what can happen when, through peaceful engagement and simple, reasoned dialogue, nations sit at a table as equals together. We will continue to debate lively and jubilantly about our future here, and, we will work tirelessly to see our dreams accomplished - but not without seeking a peaceful solution first."

In her closing remarks, the Minister seemed to ask for "the international community to exert whatever influence it can to ensure that peace can be maintained. We call publicly upon the Aldurian Military and the Consul and the Viceroy to stand down from our border. This build-up is not a sign of peace, for Mordusia has made no such counter build-up. We are a nation that seeks peace first and foremost."

Caesarion League Premier, Octavius Constantine,
blasts the Union for Social Change at a press
conference in Mordusia's capital, Rechtenburg.

Following a bizarre series of events starting with the removal of Mordusia's oldest two running parties, the Alliance Res Publica and the Caesarion League, and ending with this press conference, life in Mordusia seems to have returned to normal...for the time being.

It all started when the ARP and CL were stripped of their seats in the Imperial Diet due to investigations into the parties' recent activities. Anonymous tips to the Government saying that each party was secretly running operations in other countries disguised as political parties, and possibly even in Mordusia itself.

Following the removal of these parties, the Diet held special elections, where the Mordusian National Liberation Organization won out the majority of the seats. Oddly enough, soon after the formation of the new cabinet, which left the Union for Social Change in charge of the negotiations between the Holy Luthori Empire and Mordusia, the MNLO vacated their seats, just as the Caesarion League was eligible to return to the Imperial Diet.

With all of the remaining seats in the Diet, the USC and United Workers Front enacted many socialist reforms, designed to bring freedom to Mordusians and Mordusian companies. During this time the CL was on the outside looking in with no seats to their name.

After their call for early elections were denied by the USC, the CL gained more than a 2/3 majority in the Imperial Diet through conventional elections. With this new found power, the CL created a new cabinet, stripping the USC of all their previous positions, leaving them the Head of State and Head of Government positions, and giving several others to the UWF, and claiming the foreign ministry for themselves. Unofficial sources say that they bullied the USC out of their negotiating spot in the Luthori/Alduria/Mordusia talks, even before this cabinet was approved by the Diet.

Upon the close of elections, the CL repealed many, if not all of the reforms put into law by the USC and UWF during their reign, citing that they were "doing it for the people, empowering them with free will".

After relieving the USC from their negotiating status, talks have flowed much smoother, but recently have been in a stop and go status, making headway with many agreements, but also hitting many road blocks, which leaves the talks on thin ice at this point, with the Aldurian Delegation making the most noise with cries of outrage.

While the HoS and HoG of the USC have appeared during the talks, saying that they represent Mordusia, all eyes are glued on Foreign Minister Jessie Lu of Mordusia, and Lord Michel Frine of Alduria, as they exchange some heated words, leaving citizens of all three nations on the edge of their seats.

During this press conference with Premier Constantine, the Premier has done a good job so far of avoiding directly answering questions on the legality of the Caesarion Leagues dealings in the government. He has done a better job throwing insults and crude words at the USC than he has answering questions about the CL's schoolyard bully tactics in the Imperial Diet.

Premier Constantine has called the USC "a group of communist shitheads, who can't protect this country from a dead cow in Telamon." and claims that "they continually disrupt the peace talks to keep us from war. And they want to completely erase our military from existence. They want to do everything peacefully, and they don't want war, but they only put our country in harms way with their idiotic outbursts!".

While eager to denounce the USC, the Premier was quick to praise the UWF for their co-operation. And was equally quick to dodge questions such as "Did your party remove the Union [for Social Change] from the negotiating table before you won the foreign Affairs seat in the Diet?", "Did your party move elections back because you want to hold onto power as long as possible?" and inquiries into the removal of the CL and ARP from the government. One question that left him particularly red in the face, and may have ended the Q&A session after the conference was one implying that his party was conducting deals behind the scenes, working illegally, and questions the CL's intents, after they continuously denounced any notion of a party holding 50% or more seats in the Imperial diet. The Premier got up from his seat and yelled out "You [expletive] communist bastard, go back to the USC!" and promptly left the platform and got into his motorcade, and drove away.

Communists Seize Majority in Legislature

RECHTENBURG, TALASOR-Earlier this month, the communist party United Worker's Front gained a majority in the Imperial Diet after the disbanding of the two major parties, the Union for Social Change, and the Cesearion League. Many UWF supporters gathered outside the home of UWF leader Frederick Jefferies to congraluate him.

"Soon the bonds of capitalism and imperialism will be lifted from the Mordusian people. With the creation of a communist state in Mordusia, only then will our people be truly free!"

Foriegn governments, however, are angry at the UWF who want to create a communist state, while Mordusia is still in negotiations with several monarchist governments who wish to have their monarch remain ruler of Mordusia.

Mordusian Dicatorship Underway?

Today, the United Worker's Front issued a series of bills poised to assault the freedom of Mordusians. Nothing unusual, but the new proposals caused massive alarm, mostly within the Elitist Super Squad, as it vies to eliminate any and all channels of possible criticism of government. A most critical issue, indeed, since the recent communist overhauls have made the goverment more powerful -- excessively so.

The Elitist Super Squad has vowed to fight the bills, but, unfortunately for Mordusia, there is no chance of killing them unless the UWF decides to veto itself. The freshly established Tory Party has not yet formed an opinion on the latest portion of the onslaught, But still, Mordusians remain optimistic as the Tory Party has a history, albeit a very short one, of opposing the UWF. Although, this is of moot consequence, for the Tory Party carries with it no seats.

Many Mordusian communists now regret voting for the UWF. "We thought they were here for our freedom," says a former UWF supporter, "it turns out they're just after power." The United Worker's Front has indeed promised workers freedom from "capitalist tyranny", what was instead recieved was a country headed for dictatorship.

Those who were dragged into Mordusia's present hellish state because of workers' idiocy in equating communism with freedom are in protest - in the private of their homes, for fear of the newly installed military police.

"Lies Spread About Champions of the Worker" General-Secretary Says

RECHTENBURG-In a speech given by the General-Secretary Frederick Jefferies to a large crowd of party members, party supporters and industiral workers, the General-Secretary ranted against "enemies of the people" and "opponents of freedom and equality."

"The ESS spreads lies about the UWF, who are the champions of the worker and protectors of the people. The ESS illegally owns and operates newspapers and other media outlets that spread slanderous rumors marked at installing fear in the very soul of our Mordusian Democratic Republic. They wish to destory our dear fatherland, and with it, they wish to create a state built on slavery and the backs of the common man.

They quote UWF members and communist officials, and tell all the world that this is the face of Mordusian communism. However, we, the people of this, our Mordusian Democratic Republic, know better then to listen to lies. We listen to the truth, because we are the truth, because we are the people, and we are Mordusia!".

Also in attendance at the rally was Erik Oppenheimer, the Morudisan Foriegn Affairs Minister. He addressed the crowd as well, and called for international governments to support the MDR in its fight against oppression and imperialism.

In response to the illegally owned newspaper operated by the ESS, three people were taken into custody by members of the Combat Groups of the Working Class and the People's Police. They are expected to plead "Not Guility" on the charges of treason, sedition and illegally owning and operating a newspaper during their trial later this week.
