Jefferies Resigns From Cabinet, Hands Position to Oppenheimer

RECHTENBURG-Today General-Secretary Jefferies announced that he was going to resign from the cabinet, and hand over the position of Head of Government to the current Foriegn Minister, Erik Oppenheimer. Oppenheimer, who has been a leading figure in the UWF, accepted the position and vowed to fight for "justice, freedom, peace" and to "end the oppression of all peoples everywhere." His speech was met with thunderous applause.

Oppenheimer's partner, Henry Wheeling, has been offered the now-vacant position of Foriegn Minister. Several other ministries would recieve new ministers, due to the retierment of several current ministers including the Ministers for the Internal Affairs and Justice departments, Henry de Loop and Kevin Egon.

In other news, several more ESS supporters were arrested today after they were found distributing pamphlets accusing the government of corruption and oppressing the people. In response to the arrests a large crowd of protestors gathered outside the Supreme Council of Delegates, however they were quickly rounded up and arrested by the police and members of the Combat Groups of the Working Class on charges of "inciting a riot, public endangerment, illegally carrying and possessing a firearm and jaywalking.

Mordusia Undoubtebly Under a Dictatorship

The Media Bill, a bill that outlaws both criticism of government and independent journalism, has been ratified by the UWF-led communist government. Following the catastrophe, several supporters of the Elitist Super Squad have been arrested for still exercising their right to free speech and three random people were taken into custody by dangerous, armed communists supposedly in retaliation for the publication of The Dictatorship Report. These arrests will obviously hold no water in any Mordusian court, which is why the UWF have proposed a bill aimed at sabotaging the Mordusian justice system. The ESS once again voted nay on the UWF's heinous attempt to undermine rights of Mordusians, but, as was the case last time, the UWF holds the majority of the seats (78%). One needs not to be reminded that there is no chance of killing the bill unless the UWF decides to veto itself. Further on, it is predicited that the UWF will continue to legislate such monstrosities until they are voted out of power. Very depressing news, indeed.

General-Secretary Denies Accusations

In a speech given to a collection of military officials, police officers and communist politicians, General-Secretary Jefferies denies accusations made by the ESS, who said that Mordusia was turning into a dictatorship and that the rights of the people were being taken away.

An Open Letter to the United Worker's Front

The great nation of Mordusia has always been a proud beacon of freedom to me, but ever since you, the United Worker's Front, came to power, I have witnessed the disheartening recession of my liberties. You claim that this is so because we, the people of Mordusia, want this. You should very well know that I do not want this, and I know of no other person who does. What I do know is that we, the people, want freedom.

Before you were elected, my father and I could gently express our disapproval of the government without later disappering in the night. Before you were elected, the policemen were as handsome as Cary Grant and just as polite. Before you were elected, my dear little flowershop was thriving and the economy was booming. We were a rich, grand nation then! But you suddenly snuck your way through the legislature and slowly stripped us of our liberties, and that wonderful paradise afforded us by our freedom soon died away.

I hope you reverse all the repressive laws that you have passed as it causes undeniable harm to our once-great nation. That is all.

Letter from a Mordusian Citizen

Dearest Members of the Supreme Council of Delegates,
I read the letter from Ms. Honeychurch that was printed in paper this morning, and decided to write another letter on behalf of those Mordusians, who are a majority, who are in favor of this our Mordusian Democratic Republic and the governing party, the United Worker's Front.

The sad truth is that many in our nation are not looking at the bigger picture. The MDR is not a "dictatorship", but a state that prizes the security and saftey of the people. The government may control the economy, but who else can we trust? Can we trust the fat factory owner who constantly cuts wages in order to line his pockets with even more money? Can we trust the foriegn investor who wishes to collapse our markets, in order for his nation to financially invade our socialistic fatherland? The answer is very clear: we cannot. Instead, we just trust our government, which is for the people and elected by the people, here in this state of the people: our Mordusian Democratic Republic.

I ask the people of our nation to have faith in our government, and to follow the law, even if we do not agree with it. With the creation of the Mordusian Democratic Republic, equality and freedom now fill the lives of the citizens, whereas before oppression and greed ruled the hearts of the imperialists and capitalists who stalked our land, raping the land of precious resouces all in the name of profit.

I urge you all to support our fatherland, and to support the United Worker's Front, the party of the people.

Memo from the Mordusian Ministry of Justice

Today in a Rechtenburg courtroom, a total of twelve (12) people were found guilty on charges of "treason, sedition, illegally operating and owning a newspaper, public disorder and corruption of youth."

All twelve (12) are to serve various jail terms, with the longest term being life imprisionment, while the shortest term is seven (7) years. None of the guilty will be given the possibility to parole.

Dictator Threatens Arrest to Only Remaining Opponents
Says Communist Overlord: Very soon, the ESS may find itself banned and it's leadership arrested.

Frederick Jefferies, Mordusia's Head of State and Chairman of the UWF, threatened arrest to the Elitist Super Squad this evening in a speech given to the UWF's communist lackeys, the military and the military police. The speech was a response to an article in The Dictatorship Report that has greatly upset the communist dictatorship. Jefferies denied that a dictatorship existed in Mordusia and insisted that people accept whatever government Mordusia has presently. Jefferies also claimed that the UWF legislates tyranny because the people want to be tyrannized and not because they, the communist barons, want to grab more power for themselves. Jefferies' speech is a blatant insult to all free Mordusians.

Regarding Political Unrest and Protests

To our Comrades in the Ministry of Internal Affairs:
We have been observing several members of the ESS, and we wish to inform you that they may be planning to form a mass protest outside the Supreme Council of Delegates, or the General-Secretary's house.

Please put all Rechtenburg police units on standby, as well as the several squadron of Combat Groups of the Working Class milita members.
Also, military leaders are advised to put ground troops on standby, in case of emergency. Please prepare medical units in case of injury to military members or protesters.

Goodbye, Commies

Mordusians have voted the communist United Worker's Front out. The Head of Government position is now held by Mervyk the Vogon of the Elitist Super Squad. Considering the abuse the UWF gave the inhabitants of this country, the results weren't surprising.

Now, the ESS and the Tory Party are working together to reverse the communist policies the UWF has instituted, starting with renaming the titles of government officials and the name of the legislative body. A flag contest has been opened and anyone is free to enter. There were several bills made to re-establish justice and free enterprise. The cabinet was changed, the ESS now held the HoG and Foreign Affairs postions, and the Tory Party held the ones of Justice and Defense.

The new head of government, Sir Roland Bassingwell, have pardoned the 12 people the UWF found guilty of treason and ordered the disbandment of the communist storm-troopers. Several officials of the now defunct dictatorship have fled the country to escape prosecution.

Mordusians, by birth and by heart:

Ladies and gentlemen, I am here to discuss the alterations the Ministry of Finance had recently applied to Mordusia's fiscal policy. I notice that most of you are worrying -- needlessly so, I may add -- about the deficits that it has produced. But I assure you, the deficits are meaningless at worst -- and healthy at best.

For so long now, Mordusia has accumulated in its coffers trillions. Trillions that would have been better left to the pockets of Mordusians, but were instead left sitting fruitlessly, purposelessly in government vaults. As the minister of finance, I could not ignore such a pointless seizure of the Mordusian people's hard-earned money and so, I have resolved to give it back. Yes, as bizarre as it may sound to you, the deficits were created to give you your money back. Ah yes, now I see you are all skeptical, for how could anyone possibly expect a teensy 22-billion deficit to compensate for the trillions accumulated yearly for so long? The Mordusian economy is already kicking back. The deficits are disappearing, and well, that simply isn't much of a refund. But, calm yourselves ladies and gentlemen; the Ministry of Finance did not overlook that important fact. I have asked the Elitist Super Squad to propose a bill that will further reduce the sales tax on luxury goods from 20% to 13%. That change would produce a further 390 billion MDR deficit -- I hope you are happy now. And do not worry, the Mordusian economy is strong enough to wipe out that deficit in a couple of years. We can also afford to raise the taxes, too, if the deficits worry you too much . . .

Yes, I will also talk about the taxes. As you may have noticed by now, the Ministry of Finance has eliminated the many-tiered communist progressive tax, hard on both the rich and the poor, and replaced it with a simple flat tax: 15% to all those who earn above 20'000 MDR. Everybody experienced a massive relief from taxes, the rich and the poor especially. The flat tax was made possible by severing the funding on socialist government programs that the Mordusian government had eliminated. Yes, it was as simple as that.
