Tensions rising in the government

After the Davostan National Party, the former DLP, put forward a series of proposals aiming at curbing civil liberties and expanding the powers of the police in favour of national security, the Radicals have indicated that they would withdraw from the Grand Coalition they share with the DNP if the proposals were not withdrawn. Since it is highly unlikely the measures would find a majority in parliament anyway, some analysts have been surprised at the fervor with which the Radicals have opposed them.

"Really, the Radicals could have just sat silent and let the whole thing go down to defeat, without causing any particular stir in the coalition. But it seems they don't want to compromise their traditionally quite liberal outlook on human rights", was the view of one analyst at the University of Hakkerfell.

April 3847 Early Elections Results

The congress have recently voted to declare an early elections in the Davostan DR with the SRP and the DNP voting Yes on the issue. Many critics speculate why the early elections were called, a SRP spokesperson has stated this, "We feel that the RPL have not been too active in the voting and providing of information on certain bills recently, and feel the appropriate thing to do is to call an election to decide where the Congress continues to sit." This election has been declared a very unusual one, with the electoral mandate being limited to 5 years and the SRP and DNP closeness in recent years, it was hard to predict how the people would vote overall.

Presidential Results:
First Round:
Jeff McDee DNP 43.74%
John Durham RPL 38.71%
Evie Boivin SRP 17.55%

Second Round:
Jeff McDee DNP 50.30% Endorsed by the SRP
John Durham RPL 49.70%

Jeff McDee of the Davostan National Party has been declared the President of the Davostan Democratic Republic.

Rioting in the Cities of Davostani

Reports have today been confirmed that over 500'000 people, known business owners and everyday citizens have today begun attacking police and law enforcers across the nation. Looting of stores and many other acts of undiscriminating violence have been recorded and all for the same purpose, to repeal the Democratic Economy law passed by Congress several days ago, forcing any business with more than 20 workers to become a DWC.

Thousands upon thousands of citizens have engaged the illegal activities and actively defying the new governments laws, some claim to here the protestors and riots chanting "We are Capitalist! Hear us cry! We are Davostani! Hear our Voice!"

Image

Over 350 cases so far have been reported of injury to a police, civilian or riot member and over 5000 rioters have been arrested for acts of violence.

But the question remains, will Congress listen to the Rioters? Or will they let the nation decay into civil war?

Justice Minister denounces demonstrations

Following wide-spread rioting in many of Davostan's major cities and towns, Justice Minister Agatha Buxley (RPL) has come out with a strak warning to the demonstrators:

It is one thing to come out and publicly voice one's disagreements with the incumbent government's policies and the direction of the country, and this is indeed a right taht my party has consistently fought to preserve and guarantee, but an entirely other to attack law enforcement and threatening violent force if a democratic Congress does not bow down to a minority. Let me be clear; peaceful demonstartions shall have the full protection of the law, but illegal violence will be punished as such without favour or prejudice.

Davostan DR News

DNP Policy Change?

We at the DDR News stations across the nation have today heard reports coming from the DNP meetings, that there are possible debates between the members to decide how the party will proceed after the next election in May 3853.

Many reports outline a possible leader change (candidates unknown yet) and/or a possible party policy change again. Reports have outlined that if a party policy change is voted in favour, it may revert back to the CUP (Capitalist Unionist Party) status again.

Many reports outline the DNPs/DLPs collapse since the Jeff McDee CUP 'regime' back many years ago, has been crippling to the parties chances in the Congress. While others outline that a need to change the leader to a more influential figure will be necessary, being Jeff McDees inability to keep many of his seats and the capital under the DNP/DLP control.

But what we do know? Is that whatever happens, for the next 5-4 years, the DNP will not change its current course of actions.

We'll be reporting more news once it has been released/leaked.

Criticism From Within

Rick Colemen criticises the DNP and her efforts to keep the party and the nation united.

The DNN has been closely following the reports and events appearing from the DNP after the supposed DNP debates over Jeff McDee and the parties policies. After several weeks of tracing, we have been give exclusive rights to visit a DNP conference which would include all the current and past leaders and ministers all the way back to the original CUP days, with opportunities to ask each of them questions live on stage and explore the minds of each of them.

We exploited this right to the best we could.

Image
View from our seats

We questioned Jeff McDees many policies and beliefs, including the religious debates. Engaging in talks with the ministers and what they hoped to achieve. Even negotiating with previous leaders to understand their drives. But thats not what we are excitied about the most.

Rick Colemen, previous leader and founder of the CUP and DLP. Has spoken out against the parties policies and actions in recent years, even giving heavy criticism of choosing Jeff McDee as the leader without properly exploring Rosalie Huffs abilities.

Image
Rick Colemen crying out

Rick later vowed that he'd attempt to retake and then reform the party back to its hay-day with the Capitalist Unionist Party, stating that the transition of Libertarian to Nationalist is disgusting and will attempt to the fix these errors.

This has called for a new DNP vote of No Confidence on Jeff McDee, and possibly changing the parties leader to a new candidate.

The vote has been decided to take place a year before the DDR Elections, to allow for a positive transition.
