SUNDIN ON EMBASSY BURNING DOWN: "WHAT IS THERE TO BE DONE?"
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Premier Erik Sundin regarding the embassy.

Kivonia, Kovmark – As the event of the Kundrati embassy being burned down by a mob of a thousand men-strong still being a hot topic in the world, drawing the eyes of many states to Davostag, the government of Davostag has remained quiet on the issue, more likely hoping for it to be swept under the rug. As the elections of December 5408 are soon here, National Gathering (NS) has never been so fierce in their campaigning, most likely due to an anxiety over the outcome. Despite such, they did present an electoral manifesto that would, despite whatever result may come, seek the full national cooperation between the three parties of the Riksdag in a national unity government to curb the threat of the militant Front Thing for National Revival (FTNV). Thus several top state officials have gathered at an annual NS conference where journalists and other observers are allowed to ask questions. This conference is meant as a electoral strategy to converse with voters and give them a good and extensive understanding of their program.
Premier Erik Sundin, at the conference this morning, received the question of the Kundrati embassy burning that caught the attention of the world, and commenting:
Well, what is there to be done? Hmm? In a conflict where the opponent's primary message warning citizens in Davostag that foreign actors are trying to determine the course of their country, and then we have a foreign president giving a violent aggressive speech declaring their intention to destroy this opponent and make sure Davostag adopts so-called "real democracy" based on their own. What is there to expect? Of course people are gonna get angry and of course it's just play gonna right into the hands of said opponents, especially with the fact that on top of that speech there are thousands of their foreign troops on our soil.

Premier Sundin switched subject and talked extensively about the government's plans to reinvest, rearm, and restart the domestic defense industries, considering that Davostag is now a member of the Collective Security and Cooperation Organization (CSCO). Sundin made it very clear, due to concerns brought up by Liberal Democratic Riksdag members, that Davostag shall not be dependent on its allies and shall hold a responsible and sovereign decision making process regarding CSCO affairs. The Minister of Defence, Liva Vinther, who was present at the conference, went into detail over the plans to reactivate the Sword & Shiled Defense Industry AB, which has served as the state-owned military arms manufacturer with the sole responsibility of supplying the entire Davostag Armed Forces. She went on to state that several foreign officials have approached Davostag in offering to sell military equipment and vehicles, but which we have mostly turned down due to the domestic supplies available for usage by the Armed Forces.
Then when another in the crowd yet again mentioned the events surrounding the embassy burning, but this time concerning the reactions of the world, Sundin would annoyingly answer:
What is done is done. End of story. The world is overreacting on a matter that is absoluely understandable and in some ways justified. Some nations, such as Beiteynu, should take it easy with their so-called "warnings" and might do the world a favor for once and not escalate an already dangerous situation by sending parts of their fleet up north. Because, perhaps they might be unfortunate to have their embassy burned down too.

The premier ended his comment with a small chuckle, followed by the crowd joining him. Later that day, the patriotic group that had organized the protest that caused the burning of the Kundrati embassy, Dovrige åt dovgerna ("Davostag for the Davostagers"), posted on social media that they are discussing the possibility for a peaceful demonstration outside the Beiteynu embassy in Kivonia. Whether they are serious or just making a thing out of the premier's joke remains to be seen.

AS GOVERNMENT FORMS; 'UNITED DAVOSTAG' TAKES SHAPE
______________________________________________________________________________________________

Kivonia, Kovmark – During backroom dealings and campaign promises, National Gathering (NS) chairman and Davostag premier, Erik Sundin, declared for his intention to form a national unity government with the Liberal Democratic Union (LDU) and Left Alternative (VA) in order to combat the threat of the Front Thing for National Revival (FTNV). But as it would seem, when the time came and talks were held with the Liberal Democrats, it was decided that the national unity government would be postponed due to security concerns over the nature, formation and activity of Left Alternative, not really revealing any clear reasons other than reports having been reviewed and new decisions made. Premier Sundin has been very outspoken about the gathering of all the nation's political forces, and therefore, or as rumors claims, feel a great deal of pain concerning leaving Left Alternatuve outside of the new coalition government that was formed in September last year. He called upon its leadership to break with their "special relations" and "work for the interests of the Davostagers" instead.

As the new government plans on promoting economic development, curbing FTNV, rearming the military and restaring the defense industries, it would be revealed this week that the traditional parties opposing each other, NS and LDU, would form a historic "electoral alliance" to promote democracy, justice, rule of law, economic development, and strengthening the sovereignty of Davostag. This alliance have been officially proclaimed Enade Dovrige ("United Davostag"), or ED, and have adopted the color white, which plays on NS and LDU's colors of black and yellow respectively which are two of the three national colors of Davostag, with the white to brigde between them. Sundin has made it clear that United Davostag will be led by both party leaders, and is open to a future entry of Left Alternative, as long as they begin focusing on Davostag. He hopes that the alliance can serve as a forum for all the different established ideologies to talk, discuss and cooperate in a healthy and democratic manner. But he also sees it as a good tool to work against the rising popularity of the extreme far-right Dovrigedemokraterna ("Davostag Democrats"), which has gained a lot of tractions recently.

18 November 5411
DOMESTIC CONFLICT ENDS; GOVERNMENT SIGNS CEASEFIRE
______________________________________________________________________________________________

Delvenborg, Kovmark – As the national unity government failed to be fully approved by the Riksdag, Premier Erik Sundin, National Gathering, and their coalition partner the Liberal Democrats, began talks with representatives of the Front Thing for National Revival, agreeing on a ceasefire. Sundin signed the decree on 17 November, where it states that there will be an end to the fighting and that talks will be held to ease tensions and come to an understanding of where to move on from here. In the agreement it is promised that the government will discuss imprisoned FTNV members, their status of service in the Davostag Armed Forces, as well as the demilitarization of paramilitary organizations such as FTNV but also the government-loyal People's Banner (Foshog). There will also be discussions concerning the influence on foreign nations in Davostag, as well as the ideas of so-called "cultural revivalism", which the FTNV has centered their whole ideology around. The FTNV, who was represented by Davostag Army colonel Julia Neusohn, a perceived revolutionary hero within the circles of the militant group and other nationalist organizations. Colonel Neusohn stated that the command of the FTNV has ensured and gives the promise that no future attacks will occur as long as the government fulfills its end of the agreement.

The decree has also stipulated that all foreign services combating FTNV within Davostag are to withdraw with immediate effect, including those belonging to allied nations. This was included in the decree to ensure to FTNV that the government has a written public statement and document guaranteeing that foreign military forces such as Kundrati, which had announced their withdrawal from Davostag more than a month ago, would not return under backroom dealings. It also stipulates that there will be future talks concerning the presence of allied nations in Davostag, now that the nation is a full member of the Collective Security and Cooperation Organization (CSCO).
But overall the conflict has slowed down these past years, and with talks, decrees, and agreements in full swing, it would seem that peace has finally reached Davostag. And it would seem that FTNV now focuses on standing in the elections instead through the newly established Dovrigedemokraterna ("Davostag Democrats"), or DD, thus allowing normal Davostagers to express their opinion and desires on whether they want a nationalist-revivalist makeover of Davostag or not.

VA FILES NEW CABINET BILL TO SUPPORT NUG

5 December 5411

Image
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

In a landmark move toward unity and stability in Davostag, the leader of the Left Alternative (VA), Anne-Sophie Modig, officially declared the party's support for a proposed National Unity Government in collaboration with the National Gathering (NS) led by Premier Erik Sundin and the Liberal Democratic Union (LDU).

The media has already coined the term "konsagering" to describe this potential coalition, a portmanteau of "constructive unity government." Premier Sundin emphasized the expectation that this government would be "constructive and productive" for all Davostagers, reflecting the urgency to address challenges posed by the Front Thing for National Revival (FTNV) and lay the groundwork for the nation's future.

The proposed bill outlines the rationale behind this historic collaboration: "After discussions and negotiations, the Left Alternative finally endorses a common program for a National Unity Government to be formed between all the parties of the Riksdag, effectively addressing the challenges presented by the FTNV in the peace process. The government will also focus on promoting essential foundational policies for the future of Davostag."

Despite rumours of potential rebellion within VA and LDU ranks due to their association with the current governing party NS, the proposal is expected to pass unanimously. The unity government is viewed as a crucial step in resolving the FTNV issue, ensuring the safety of Davostag, and orchestrating the withdrawal of foreign national forces.

The drafting of a new constitution, however, poses a significant challenge for the coalition. The LDU, a key architect of the current constitution dating back to the 5300s, staunchly supports retaining the House of Sölsvingen-Österbro as the royal family. On the other hand, both the FTNV and VA advocate for a republic, with the FTNV viewing the royal house as "foreign-blooded usurpers." The NUG faces the delicate task of managing these contrasting views.

In response to the proposed coalition, Modig stated, "It is time to set aside our differences and work together for the greater good of Davostag. The National Unity Government presents an opportunity to unite against undemocratic forces and pave the way for a better future."

Premier Sundin expressed optimism, saying, "This collaboration is a testament to our commitment to democracy. By joining forces, we strengthen our position against the challenges facing our nation."

The LDU leader echoed these sentiments, highlighting the shared responsibility in "preserving democratic values and guiding Davostag toward a prosperous future."

With the formation of the FTNV's own new political entity Dovrigedemokraterne (DD) on the horizon, set to enter the Riksdag in the 5412 elections, the National Unity Government faces the uphill task of maintaining support for the democratic status quo amid the revivalist-national and populist currents in Davostager society. The success of this collaborative effort holds the potential to reshape the political landscape and usher in a new era for Davostag.

PREMIER ERIK SUNDIN RESIGNS
______________________________________________________________________________________________

Image
Premier Erik Sundin announcing his resignation.

Kivonia, Kovmark – In a stunning set of events, Erik Sundin suddenly announced his resignation during a special press conference convened this morning. Sundin took office as the premier of Davostag on the 1 February 5389 and has served in that position continuously with four governments and 30 years under his belt. He now leaves office at the age of 75, as the longest serving premier to date and will most likely hold that spot for a considerably long time. As premier, the largest strikers protests were held, the Front Thing for National Revival started the domestic conflict, he passed several corporatist legislations that would ensure a continuing cooperation between the classes, and he would rekindle lost relations overseas. But also, there has not existed a more authoritarian leader democratically elected since premier Alfred Trollman who governed from 5357 to 5380. Sundin has without doubt, for better or for worse, left an unshakable legacy that will come to shape Davostag long into the coming decades.

While resigning the office of the premiership, Sundin has made it clear that he intends to remain as chairman of National Gathering, until his successors have stabilized the party for the voters as a consequence of his resignation. The one who has been designated to take over, and who will enter into office on the 28 December, is Loke Lorenzen, who has served as Minister of Education and Culture, Minister of Finance, Minister of Defence, and now more recently as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Premier. It was rumored that one of the most known allies of Sundin, Lennart Malmberg or Per Seiger, would succeed him. Loke Lorenzen has made it clear that he intends on keeping NS policies of syncretism and Davostagian conservatism alive. Within National Gathering a new reorganization took place which created the Standing Committee as the executive of the Rikspartikommittén (“National Party Committee”) and composed of the five most prominent members of RPK. Heading the 1st Standing Committee, Sundin is joined by Lorenzen, Andreas Hammarberg, Alicia Elenadotter, Karina Ervinus and Jakob Mannerfält.

In a strategic move to rejuvenate the Left Alternative (VA) after the unexpected retirement of former party leader Anne-Sophie Modig, party members gathered at the Långstad Convention Pavillion witnessed the election of Henrik Orrublig Ny as the new party leader. The 38-year-old social democrat and educator, who previously served as a member of the party executive committee, clinched the victory with 51.93% of the membership vote on the second ballot.

The leadership election, prompted by Modig's retirement and the subsequent deregistration of the party from the Electoral Commission, featured strong contenders. Ny's opponents included Ingeborg Lindström, the party executive committee vice-chair, and Olof Fogh Lindberg, former Minister of Internal Affairs. Lindström, representing communist and radical eco-feminist factions, secured 38.66% on the first ballot, while Lindberg, viewed as the continuity candidate, garnered 14.32%, leading to his removal from the second ballot.

In his victory speech, Ny emphasized his vision to transform the Left Alternative from a niche party into a people's party advocating for pragmatic yet progressive policies. Addressing the challenges that led to the party's deregistration, Ny expressed his commitment to forging a more realistic path to political influence, steering clear of pitfalls that could jeopardize the party's legitimacy. He highlighted the importance of avoiding technicalities that could threaten the party's existence.

Ny, born in Sankt Erwinsburg, Kovmark, in January 4, 5380, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. A former teacher at a public secondary school, Ny entered politics in Kivonia, serving as the National Deputy Secretary of Ungdom för ett alternativ Dovrige, VA's youth wing, from 5413 to 5415. Elected as an MP in the 5412 elections, representing Kovmark landskap, Ny envisions a pragmatic and inclusive approach to policy-making. Married to his husband, Ny is also a devoted family man with a child.

Henrik Ny's ascent to the leadership signals a significant turning point for the Left Alternative, and members look to him to guide the party toward a more influential and impactful future.
