Well basically it is rather tragic. Our focus as you know is Majatra but let’s be brutally honest; we really wish we could trade with Dovani. But we have a past with Dovani and the East so normal relations are difficult. So we are not going to be the leader of Terra trying to set policy for Dovani.
With its Civil War over, North Dovani seemed to be making progress under its DND regime which decisively lost an election to a party that had a more experimental approach to economics. So its military once again took over ousting the duly elected government.
The Trigunian First Deputy Prime Minister Vaniamin Gorshkov has made a valid point. Republika Deltarska is hardly in a position to criticize a regime merely because of a coup. Although we do note that the World Congress Election Authority has vetted the 5188 election that produced the SDU – P government ousted by the Junta and determined the election was fair.
Be that as it may, we believe international interference with sovereignty should be considered only when a regime indulges in naked aggression or commits atrocities or violently abuses its own citizenry. Not when another nation of greater enlightenment disaproves of its economic system.
The Dovani Pact and individual nations are addressing this matter and the World Congress may.
We do think at this juncture the Junta - Moon- He regime owes its own citizenry and the people of Terra the truth of what happened to former Prime Minister Obee Emeka. He appears to be dead. Was he simply murdered by the Junta? As appears to be the case.
Protests and demonstrations per se are not illegal. The Interior Ministry is backing the Capital City Police with riot control units to insure against property damage, criminal trespass and violent outburst in case the demonstrators turn into a mob. So far heavy police presence seems to be keeping the situation stable.
Prezident Siroky recently mentioned some of the circumstances when interfering with sovereignty may be in order particularly by the World Congress. Two others not on point here are genocide and a rogue power developing nuclear weapons.
In addition to situations warranting interference with sovereignty there are policies or practices a nation, international organization or the World Congress finds loathsome and which may warrant economic or diplomatic sanctions short of force.
In this instance we and many in Terra are trying to determine the culpability of the Military Junta – Moon – He Regime in the apparent killing of former Prime Minister Emeka in Junta custody.
What we feel is imperative is what Prezident Siroky called for. Finding the truth. We believe an independent investigation by the Dovani Pact, the World Congress or agreed upon third parties could do that. Make no mistake, if North Dovani will not allow investigation or interferes with one, we can rightly conclude what many think obvious – that the Junta took custody of the former Prime Minister and murdered him.
We are formally asking North Dovani to allow an independent investigation. Once that occurs or fails to occur, we can proceed to appropriate action. Let us be clear, what is worrying Terra is that the Junta – Moon – He Regime may well be ready to permanently silence all its critics.
So be it. Noone has ever expected everybody to agree.
The Congress of Representatives has imposed diplomatic and economic sanctions against the military dictatorship in North Dovani as have a number of other nations. In view of the end of any pretense the Junta is not assassinating former officials and committing other atrocities, clearly they are in order.
Well STRAVA and Narodne Svedomie and their supporters obviously want an aggressive policy against Trigunia. What JFZ sees besides this view are really three others. Let’s not pretend that quite a few of our citizens do not really think this is a dispute that is occurring far far away with little or no importance to us.
Another view we hear a lot is that since manifest evil is occurring we should be doing something. Sanctions are popular with these citizens.
Another view and the one we hold is that Republika Deltarska should be acting as a responsible member of the international community trying to resolve this tragic problem.
You mentioned Trigunia. Deltaria is distrusted in Dovani and has no actual influence there. Trigunia on the other hand is one of very few friends of North Dovani and likely will be critical to any diplomatic solution that might occur.
Not at all. Apparently what is now occurring is rebellion against the Junta and a return to civil war. There are deep seated tribal and ethnic undercurrents in play. Neighboring nations are trying to deal with the influx of refuges.
In addition to offers of mediation and diplomatic efforts, humanitarian relief will soon be critical and quite possibly assistance with refuges. It is possible the World Congress or the Dovani Pact will lead in this effort but if not I would expect working with our Majatran neighbors to provide relief is where we will be.
That is what I expect.
You may well wonder why we want to talk about caviar here rather than in Hodonin on the Alazindor Delta or Branovice where caviar is a big deal and the roe of the Ossetra and Sevruga species of sturgeons are harvested and sold throughout Republika Deltarska. Fine high quality caviar is harvested there. Nobody in Canrille or Artania or Keris or Macon or Seleya or dovani eats but it is very good.
Why? The type of caviar that all of Terra esteems the most is from the Beluga species of sturgeon. Why is it more highly prized than the Ossetra? I certainly have no idea, but it is the one most sought after. And where is a place they have breeding grounds? In both sides of Sfantul Sangeorz in the north and south forks of the Sluislaw River as they complete their journey into Ushalande Bay.
Of course they are not doing too well. The Sluislaw has a lot of industrial refuse dumped into it. Corruption or neglect the result is the same. Raw sewage comes in from apartment complexes in defiance of all the rules because the authorities turn a blind eye. Rubbish from vessels going through the forks for recreation or commercial enterprise. And erosion of the banks and salt marshes from too much traffic going too fast.
But the Beluga is there. The fisherfolk are generally not interested and the caviar industry is elsewhere. What we want to do is have all Terra clamoring for the roe of Sluislaw Beluga. How? Three things.
We have got to clean up the Sluislaw so there is no further decline in the Beluga population. First, going to see that there is serious emissions enforcement against industry and apartment builders both of which have been let slide.
Second, the government is going to spearhead international advertising. We are going to hire the best here and throughout Terra. Everyone is going to want Deltarian Beluga caviar. You may well ask how that helps Hodonin. I’ll tell you. Most everyone thinks Canrillaise wine is
the best. But there are some real belly washers and regurgitants getting drunk because they have some connection to Canrille. The social elite and the super rich buy the best but a whole lot of people like middle managers and government officials and military and
university personnel buy second best. If we can put Deltaria on the top of the caviar map by selling Beluga Terra will flock to the other Deltarian caviar types.
But we need the business community to get into the act. The Justice, Food and Agriculture and Trade and Industry Ministries are prepared to help organize for victory; generally speaking they tend to prefer corporations or limited partnerships. My own advice is get the
law firm Dvornachek, Braunschweiger and Ptacek to set up what your particular situation requires. I guarantee you will pay less in taxes. And there is real money to be made.
Well first, we are very happy and quite frankly somewhat surprised to still have a JFZ majority with which to continue to govern. There was a 70 % turnout which indicates a lot of interest in the election. In all honesty, we expected Delnicka Strana to win more seats since it had clearly captured the attention of some key demographics at our expense.
In fact since we expected a coalition to be necessary, our planning centered around hoping to induce Narodne Svedomie to join us in a biogenetics crusade. We will be talking to them about this but not in the framework of trying to reach a majority.
You probably have noted that although Prezident Siroky received just over 50% of the vote and although JFZ won 276 of 550 seats, JFZ actually received 49% of the vote. So it looks like there is every reason to believe the future will be coalition government not one party holding a majority.
We do intend to continue emphasizing trade particularly in Majatra and emphasizing modernizing our armed forces.
