A bank and several Credit Union Building projects are postponed till June of next year, although a lack of property damage, these Produce Facilities we're vital to the Region, and wealth fare is expected to decrease in benefits for average Citizens.

The Economy is guaranteed to rise once Construction Projects re-continue next Year. A Bill could possibly be proposed to ask for foreign aid, but the possibility seems unlikely, as earlier years had Republika Destarska in increased isolation, but the Deltarian-Koplia Neutrality Treaty has shown foreigners a break-away in Foreign Blockage.

CARRIER BASED AIRCRAFT FOR NAVY

Defense Ministry, September 13, 5197: Defense Minister Stefan Dvornachek met with the Joint Command Staff to consider what should be done about the recommendation of the Chief of Staff of the Federal Navy and the Defense Agency for Procurement and Research (DAPR) concerning aircraft for our aircraft carriers.

Our DAC – 1 Class carrier, now designated the DNS Dissuwa, has an aging air complement. The Federal Navy Staff and DAPR have been looking at what should be the mixture of fixed wing aircraft and helicopters thereon as well as which fixed wing aircraft should be used and what type of helicopters. As to the type of fixed wing aircraft, the Federal Navy Staff and DAPR are recommending a variant prototype of the MiG 29 which has long been produced by SATURN designed with folding wings for saving of space on the carrier. The variant will be designated the MiG 29K.

ZLOUTENE OKO sources say the recommendation for an initial 30 Mig 29K’s has been approved.

The MiG 29K to be produced by SATURN is a single seat naval variant of the MiG 29, a twin engine aircraft originally developed for air superiority. The MiG 29K has a stronger undercarriage and a reinforced tail section with an arrestor hook as well as folding wings, a multi function radar, and a cockpit with monochrome display, To protect the engine from foreign objects, the engine inlets have retractable gills and leading edge extension auxiliary intake louvres. It can do aerial refuel and refuel other MiG 29 K’s. With wings folded, it is smaller than the existing fixed wing aircraft currently used so more of them can be on deck than the predecessor they are replacing.

The MiG 29 K has one 30 mm auto cannon in its port wing root, laser guided electro optical bombs, air to air honing missiles, anti ship and anti radar missiles, and air to ground guided missiles. To enhance survivability, it has low observable technology, advanced electronic warfare capabilities, standoff weapons, electronic counter measures and reduced ballistic vulnerability.

It has two after burning turbofan engines, maximum speed of 2200 km per hour and cruising speed of 1500 km per hour. Its range is 1500 km at high altitude and 700 km at low altitude for a combat range of 850 km. It has a service ceiling of 17,500 meters and a rate of climb of 330 meters per second.

Čestmír Hlaváč shortly after the Awards

Hradnice - 8 June, 5201: Twenty years ago, Strings (Sláčiky), starring acclaimed actress Ľubomíra Botošová, won a stunning four trophies at the 203rd TariaVis Awards. A gripping Čestmír Hlaváč action-thriller with a soon-to-be celebrated female lead, it defied expectations of bland cliché and brought a fresh renewal of critical respect for a genre oft shunned by critics.
Now, at another low point in Deltarian action cinema (the five biggest action spenders of the year, including Čachtice Hero Team IV: Indomitable Equanimity, averaged 16% on Moldy Bananas), Hlaváč has pulled it from the jaws of disgrace. At the 223rd TVAs, postponed to tonight to commemorate the death of legendary director Július Kuchár last month, Hlaváč's Iron (Železo) has won no less than seven awards, including for Best Film, Best Director (Hlaváč now has a collection of six), and Best Leading Actress (Jarmila Trojanová, a police sniper confronting with new, emotionally difficult details regarding her latest 'neutralized' suspect coming to light), the third most of any in TVA history. Above it is 4958's Wonderful World (Nádherný Svět) with nine and above that, at the very top, is 4984's The Question (Otázka), the only in history to take all eleven. Iron was itself nominated for the four it eventually failed to attain.
The Internet briefly experienced a wave of accusations that Hlaváč, the most successful Deltarian director in the past century, bribed the deciding committee, until multiple auditors stepped in through their social media accounts and explained that they had been asked by the committee to vouch for the results beforehand, as it was (correctly) worried that the sheer success with which Iron was confronted would create suspect results that would be subject to undue criticism. In the end, though, the TariaVis Awards have come out of this experience as a boon still reputably granted, and Hlaváč with a new TVA under his belt. As Kultúra's Pavol Medvedík joked, "there are only two constants in life. Not death and taxes, no: they are that Patrik Siroky will be President and Čestmír Hlaváč will make fantastic movies."

Foreign Minister Kovac

CONGRESS CONSIDERS TREATY WITH BEITEYNU

Foreign Ministry, July 29, 5201: The Foreign Office has asked the Congress of Representatives to ratify the Beiteyn Accord of Diplomacy. ZLOUTENE OKO asked Foreign Minister Kazimir Kovac what the prospects for ratification looked like, and he responded:

We think they are good. We will need to convince Narodne Svedomie it is in the best interest of Republika Deltarska but we believe we can do that.

The accord promotes cordial relations in Majatra and gives us a chance for closer relations with a nation with whom we have had little contact in recent times.

It looks to us like Medinat Beiteinu is trying to reenter the international arena in a clearly non hostile manner, and we very much want to be able to help them do that.

So again, we are hopeful for ratification.

JOINT BIOFUEL VENTURE WITH LUTHORI, BEITEYNU ACCORD APPROVED

Tsargrad, March 17, 5202: After meeting with Jednotny Federalny Zvaz (JFZ) party leaders following the vote on the Beiteynu Accord, Prime Minister Veronika Vajanska told ZLOUTENE OKO:

We are very gratified that the Congress of Representatives approved the Beiteynu Accord of Diplomacy. This will help promote a new era of cooperation with our neighbors in Majatra for peace and prosperity.

We also wish to announce that our government is in discussions with the government of the Holy Luthorian Empire to set up a biofuel joint venture using expertise established by projects at the Mrazek Institute and Naban University to cooperate with the Luthorian Special Economic Zone in the Duchy of Middenriding.

Four Ministries are involved in selecting the banking and investment entities as well as the university to be involved. The Coordinating Minister will be Finance Minister Roman Hruska.

This is a developing project that will be good for the economies of the Holy Luthorian Empire and Republika Deltarska as well as the ecology of Terra.

Siroky's assassin being tackled to the ground

Čachtice-Cěsarĭgradŭ - 18 March, 5202: President Patrik Siroky, a venerable mainstay of the JFZ and the man known as 'Deltaria's Grandpa', was murdered today at the age of 87 while speaking at the Deltarian Freedom Conference (Daralian: Deltariánska Konferencia o Slobode), a gathering of libertarian politicians and thinkers convened in Čachtice-Cěsarĭgradŭ annually. The assassin was identified as Vyacheslav Antonov, a 34-year-old Deltarian of Rodshyan ethnicity, who entered the conference under an assumed name and used a handgun to shoot a Presidential Guardsman whose name has not been released twice. Antonov broke through the security cordon and scrambled onto the stage just long enough to fire two shots at Siroky, hitting him in the stomach and the top right of his chest. Antonov was tackled and Siroky was rushed to the nearby Mother of Eliyahu hospital, but died in the emergency room at 4:39 PM.
The death of Siroky, who had been president since 5179 through a stunning five free and fair elections, has been met with shock and awe by the Deltarian people, with commentators universally agreeing that while Siroky's age was a known fact, his death - especially such a violent one as that with which he was eventually met - was an immense and unhappy surprise to many. Commentators from across the aisle, including the newly-inaugurated President Vajanska and Opposition Leader Surový, have commended him posthumously for his "humble and steadfast devotion to the Republic's highest office" (Vajanska) and his "civilized mien and ability to unify" (Surový). While the occasional critic has lambasted him for advancing what some consider to be complacent foreign policy, the mood in the nation is at least solemn even among its most jovial.
Antonov is currently being detained in the Special Detainment Wing of the Čachtice Federal Prison and currently faces a minimum sentence of forty years in prison, though commentators suggest that life is more likely; the death penalty remains a possibility. However, even a verdict - let alone a sentence - may be delayed by as much as a year as the government attempts to determine a motive for Siroky's assassination; a plea of insanity could see the minimum sentence dropped to twenty followed by five years in probation. Fringe theorists have been speculating that a foreign power (particularly Trigunia, given the suspect's descent) engineered Siroky's death, which would almost certainly bring Antonov capital punishment in the eminently likely event that Deltaria does not move to deport him to his supposed home country, but analysts dismiss the notion for now.

PREZIDENT SIROKY ASSASSINATION NEWS

Justice Ministry, April March 18, 5202: The following announcement was made by Justice Minister Vaclav Zdrahal:

The brutal and tragic assassination of Prezident Patril Siroky has necessitated several actions by the government. First, Under the Constitution of 5147, Article 3 e), the Prime Minister serves as Vice Prezident and assumes the duties of Prezident should that office become vacant. Accordingly, Prime Minister Veronika Vajanska is being sworn in as Prezident in the Congress of Representatives as we speak.

Second, although aware that having an unelected Prezident is undesirable, rather than call for snap elections in this time of uncertainty, Prezident Vajanska is proposing an Interim Unity Cabinet of Narodne Svedomie and Jednotny Fedderalny Zvaz until the election in a year.

Third, On March 21, 5202, the coffin of Prezident Siroky will lie in state for public viewing at the Presidential Palace followed on March 22 by a private funeral at Carsky Ukryt for his family and a few friends they invite.

Fourth, the investigation of the assassination, who although a Deltarian citizen may have had foreign associations, will be the responsibility of the National Security Service (NSS) which reports directly to the Minister of Interior who will be giving further information as it becomes available to the press and public.

Fifth, since the assassin although a Deltarian citizen appears to be of foreign extraction the State Directorate of Intelligence (SPRZ) will pursue the possibility of an extra Deltarian connection with all the means at its disposal.

Sixth, since our Commander in Chief has been assassinated, we would be remiss if we failed to take some military precautions in case this murder is part of a broader plot. The Ministry of Defense will be briefing the media concerning this.

Asked by ZLOUTENE OKO if it is likely that the the assassin had accomplices, Zdrahal replied:

No one thinks he acted alone.

NAVAL AIR PATROLS FOR SUBS

Defense Ministry, March 18, 5202: Defense Minister Silvestr Dvornachek made the following public announcement:

Since it seems quite likely the assassination of Prezident Siroky is part of a larger plan, several steps by our military seem prudent. The Chief of the Joint Command Staff has ordered the Tu – 142 MZ’s of our 55th Naval Air Wing to patrol the Sea of Majatra with the primary purpose of detecting unannounced submarine activity. Launching sub based missiles at us is not something by which we wish to be surprised. The MiG 29’s of our Federal Air Force will conduct patrols of Lake Majatra and our border to detect suspicious activity. The destroyers of the Home fleet will patrol the Sea of Majatra to detect naval activity. All military services will be on alert for the time being.

Suppose you have a car. It's a horrible car. It's a shoddy, twenty-year-old, shambolic ghost of a vehicle with parts made in precisely the most worrying parts of the world quality-wise: a catalyst from Rapa Pile, a hubcap from North Dovani. It is the most frustrating thing in the world - it stalls at the worst possible time, or you can literally put your foot through the floor. Every second you spend using it makes you want to take a sledgehammer to it right then and there. It has all the grace of a four-year-old that has had his iPear taken away from him.
But if anybody so much as suggested that they might be thinking about considering putting a single dent in the damned thing, you would kill them.
Being a republican, I've always wondered how or why monarchies still persist even in countries where the police refuse to harm a hair on anyone's head. Now I know. Monarchs provide stability - not just in the consequentialistic sense that dictators so favor, but a true and universal sense of anchoredness and continuity that weak or ineffectual elected leaders hauled out of office in six weeks or so simply cannot provide alone. And for all that our Republic of Deltaria has been a Republic of Deltaria, Patrik Siroky filled that niche for all of us.
Patrik Siroky was a curious human being; a rock of debatable quality on which the nation was anchored. He had an admirably calm and nonpartisan approach to politics, and at the same time also stood by when his party decided to continue consorting with dictatorships and the autocratic chums thereof. In his own, quiet way, he was a barrier to movement; he was perhaps too great of a rock, too stern and unfeeling to rule over one of the most powerful nations in the world, and too fond of painting all situations with one brush.
But the rock has been shorn away by that great whale that is death, and we all find ourselves unmoored.

SRPZ ASSASSINATION INVESTIGATION

Carsky Ukryt, April 18, 5202: ZLOUTENE OKO has learned a preliminary report on the Siroky assassination by the State Directorate of Intelligence (SRPZ) was filed with the Office of the Prezident, but the only official word we have received is that there is no comment.

ZLOUTENE OKO sources within SRPZ and Carsky Ukryt have given us some clues as to the direction of the investigation. It is clear that virtually all in the the government believe Vyacheslav Antonov did not act alone

One lead that is being actively pursued is an online account in something called the Keris Credit Union in the name of Vyacheslav Antonov which received a deposit in the amount of 25,000 Trigunian Rabols from Amalgamated Consolidated Convergences three days before the murder. The funds appear to have been withdrawn from the Credit Union by Antonov the day before he murdered Prezident Siroky.

A difficulty is SRPZ seems to have been alerted to this transaction by the Underground, our Republic’s notorious money laundering and illegal arms dealer. Further, the Keris Credit Union seemed to have opened shortly before and closed shortly after the murder. SRPZ believes this transaction may have been only purpose of the Credit Union. No funds of this amount were found with Antonov or in his premises.

SRPZ tends to think this has something to do with the case since the account has the appearance of being set up before the killing. The skeptics in SRPZ believe someone is at least trying to mislead them. Whether this points to some group in Trigunia or someone who wants to make it look that way is a matter of debate.

Another lead being pursued is that the parents of Antonov seem to be very much involved with the small group of descendants of Hosian Zealots who wanted to bring the Hosian Cleric Jaromir Toman home from exile in Jakania to rule Deltaria. These descendants are largely from those around Toman in Jakania.

Manipulation of Antonov by his parents and these descendants who have never forgiven the government of Republika Deltarska for not submitting to the will of Jaromir Toman is actively being pursued.

ZLOUTENE OKO sources indicate SRPZ has not linked Antonov to any foreign government as yet or for that matter definitively ruled it out.
