OOC Source: El MundoCahtice: The KDU party leadership, consisting of several established KDU officials, has forced a party election by a narrow margin during last weeks KDU congress. The KDU congress is held every year and is meant to connect party members and present the party's vision for the year ahead. The last day of the congress, which consists of three days in total, is dedicated to voting on proposals from either party leadership or members to change parts of the manifesto or in this case call for a party election. The only time a party election is normally called is when the party leader resigns his or her post as leader, triggering an election. Nováková her approval dropped from over 80% at the start to 58% now as a result of the economic crisis. While a majority believed she did what she could to get the country through the harsh times there is a large portion of the population that states she did to little to late, resulting in a worsening of the crisis. This group, known simply as the "right wing" of the party saw the firing of experienced ministers as a wrong move and states that Nováková did "everything wrong" during the crisis and "embarassed the nation worldwide."
This group of party members also included former foreign minister Kasnarová and Finance minister Koci, both fired during the sacking of the cabinet by Nováková. Almost the entire party leadership has now apparently sided with this group and, to the suprise of Nováková, put forward a motion for leadership elections citing the, "continued desire of party members to renew their confidence in our leader and First Minister Nováková." While this was the official reasoning everyone present knew the motion was a attempt at removing Nováková from her position as leader and First Minister after almost 8 years of being in that position. The tension in the hall was great but after a extensive headly vote the proposed leadership elections passed the congress by a narrow 2 vote majority automatically triggering the organizing of a party election within the next few months. Nováková immediately announced her candidacy and so did a until now relatively unknown member of the party named Vladislav Koleno. Koleno was the former mayor of Naban, the Alazindian capital, and has served in both the Grand Imperial Army and as a informant for the Imperial Directorate for Intelligence. He is seen as a hosian, right wing conservative in pure blood and has been on the firm right of the party since him joining it around 20 years ago. It is believed that Koleno, 52 years old, has been put forward as a candidate by the leadership itself, seeing him as a strong and stable alternative to Nováková her more centrist way of leadership. He is also considered a nationalist and has repeatedly stated in the past that Deltaria should, "not be affraid to reach for the top. The Deltarian people are a resilient and dedicated people. We have suffered enough in the past. We can be proud of our heritage and should strive to become the greatest."
Another possible candidate that might run is current minister of the interior Navrátil, considered to be on the same centrist to center-right wing of the party as Nováková. He has however yet to announce his candidacy but is expected to do so within the week. If Koleno wins the leadership election he would be the first non Daralian First Minister since the formation of the Grand Empire as he himself is a Alazindian.
