Czar Dušan Crowned in Dolinka

Czar Dušan congratulating veterans of the Czarist war

Čachtice, May 17 3466 - With the victory of the Czarist forces in the War of Restoration, and with the enemies of Deltaria utterly crushed, our nation's destiny has finally been accomplished. In a lively ceremony in Dolinka, the seat of the Holy Lands, Dušan z Čestibor received the Crown of Saint Štefan from the hands of Pápež Tomáš II, thus becoming Czar Dušan the Third. Afterwards, His Imperial Majesty once again performed the ancient journey from Dolinka to Čachtice, resealing the holy covenant between Deltaria and God. Once in the Great City, Czar Dušan and the heir apparent, Vel'kovojvoda Ľubomír, were greeted by a parade of the Great Czarist Army, when the Czar congratulated the Czarist soldiers for their unwavering loyalty to the Crown of Saint Štefan and their valiant defence of Deltarian unity. And thus, the age of Czars has returned to Deltaria, and the Deltarian Czardom is reborn.

Deltarian-Coburan Tensions

The Republic of Cobura, the most important ally of the republican rebels during the war, has openly shown its continued hostility to the Deltarian Czardom by imposing an embargo on Deltaria, and continuing to finance and support the republican opposition in Deltaria. When the Deltarian government justly demanded that Cobura show her good faith by paying an annual tribute to the Deltarian Czardom, the Republic of Cobura chose to further escalate tensions by recalling their ambassador in Naban. Reacting to these developments, the government of Deltaria recalled their ambassador to Cobura, and issued the following announcement:

The government of the Deltarian Czardom, whose sovereignty and security are being threatened by the actions of the Republic of Cobura, condemns in the strongest terms the embargo imposed on our nation by the Republic of Cobura and the continuing interference of the Coburan government in Deltarian internal affairs. In response to these provocations, the Deltarian Czardom urges the nations of Terra to officially recognize the legitimacy of the Czarist government and to refuse recognition to any republican government, exercising power in Deltaria or as a government-in-exile, claiming authority over the Deltarian People, by signing the Treaty of Recognition of the Deltarian Czardom.

Statrica Reunited with the Motherland

Image
Ceremony of the Armed Forces of Statrica in Breznica, celebrating the transfer

Following long and intense negotiations, the government of the Kingdom of Dorvik agreed to transfer the control and oversight over the State of Statrica to the Deltarian Czardom. Initially a self-governing colony of Great Deltaria, founded in 1801 by Deltarian exiles led by General Dorijan Stjepanic, Statrica was, for centuries, under the domination of foreign powers, namely Lourenne and Zardugal. Having gained her independence in 3355 following the Southern Hemisphere War, Dorvik was given the right to oversee the transition of the colony to independence. Now that right belongs to Deltaria, and, apart from greatly improving relations between the three nations involved, this transfer will restore order and stability to Statrica, which has fallen victim to ethnic tensions and violence. With the help of Deltaria, the Statrican Volunteer Guard gained control over the Statrican government, and the two nations are engaged in negotiations for restoring the House of Stjepanic to their former position of Grand Prince of Statrica.

Deltarian Reaction to Zardic Aggression

Image
Newly mobilized Deltarian troops in Hadsingojer

Čachtice, August 25 3493 - As a reaction to the hostile actions of the Federation of Zardugal towards the Deltarian Czardom, the Deltarian High Command has ordered the mobilization of the Great Czarist Army and the irregular units, and increased defence capabilities on the Western shores of Lake Majatra. In addition, the Czarist Air Force has been given orders to prepare for assaulting the Zardic blockade on Lake Majatra, and for further air strikes against Zardugal itself.

This military reaction comes after the Federation of Zardugal began a series of aggressive operations against the Deltarian Czardom, including an illegal blockade of Deltarian cities on the coast of Lake Majatra. Zardugal is, like all other nations that border the lake, a participant in the Lake Majatra Governance Treaty, which prohibits any military use of the lake. The fact that Zardugal has a military fleet capable of enforcing a blockade shows that it has been ignoring the treaty's provisions for a long time. Moreover, Zardugal has been willfully ignoring the Venetium Peace Treaty, signed by both Deltaria and Zardugal, which prohibits any meddling in the internal affairs of signatory parties. It is a well known fact that Zardugal is offering support to the Deltarian opposition, and has been sponsoring the anti-government uprising in Cobura, making clear their intentions of dominating Majatra as a new hegemon. In reaction to this, the Deltarian Czardom calls on the international community, and especially the nations of Majatra under threat from Zardic imperialism, to oppose this menace to continental peace and security.

Ultimatum Issued to Zardugal

The Foreign Affairs Minister of the Deltarian Czardom has issued the following ultimatum to the Federation of Zardugal:

In 3486, the Federation of Zardugal, taking advantage of the temporary distraction of the Deltarian Czardom by terrorist attacks and the hostility of Deltaria Nova, imposed a series of measures against the Deltarian government, some of them illegal under international law. Now that the Nova-Deltarian issue has been resolved, and the unfolding international circumstances demand immediate solutions to issues in the interest of lasting peace among nations, the government of the Deltarian Czardom invites Zardugal to discuss a way to solve the outstanding issue between our nations.

For this reason, Deltaria offers the following solutions to the government of Zardugal:

1. That all actions undertaken against Deltaria with the adoption of the Action on Deltaria Act cease immediately;

2. That the Federation of Zardugal immediately withdraw from the Embargo on the Czarist Government of Deltaria;

3. That the Federation of Zardugal eliminate all military forces from Lake Majatra, in aggreement with the Lake Majatra Governance Treaty;

4. That, respecting the Treaty of Venetium, Zardugal end her involvement in the internal affairs of Deltaria and stop sponsoring the Deltarian opposition.

The Czarist Goverment expresses its hope that the Federation of Zardugal will accept the present suggestions of the Deltarian Czardom, thereby enabling the peaceful coexistence of the two nations.

The Deltarian Czardom expects the Zardic reply within a year at the latest.

Slavomír Čierny,
Foreign Affairs Minister of the Deltarian Czardom

Deltaria Supports Coburan Government

In reaction to the insurrection against the legitimate Coburan government in Egato, launched by groups with ties to the Deltarian opposition, the Deltarian Czardom decided to support the government of bill stanton. 50,000 troops led by Brigadier General Stanislav Rezník, formed of members of the Great Czarist Army and several hundred huscarles, have been sent to the Coburan government to help maintain order and stability. In addition, the Czarist Government has sent a number of military and political advisors, helping Cobura establish a proper ideology, more coherent than genereric un-qualified "fascism", and a number of computers with functioning Shift keys, helping the Coburan government solve her capitalization issue.

Deltarian-Jakanian Official Meeting

Image
Deltarian Officials in Jakania

Officials from Deltaria's Foreign Ministry are to meet with Jakanian top military leaders in a closed doors session in the Phoenix Palace, to discuss Jakania's future. With the fall of the provisional Government that ruled the nation for nearly five decades, Jakania may find itself in a vulnerable position to imperialism in Majatra. In order to support Jakania and help preserve her independence, closer ties between the two nations will surely lead to increased stability and peace on the continent.

Peace Officers Allowed to Form New Party
Čachtice, May 15 3502 Minister of Justice, Béla Győző (SPD) has officially sanctioned Strana v Streltsy, the newly formed party of Deltarian peace officers.
"There have been vile accusations that the SvS is mob of jackbooted upstarts. This is slander and not true. The SvS is a legitimate party bringing the much needed expert knowledge of our patriotic officers to the Rada."

Destruction of Czardom imminent?
Strong showings by the Syzygy Party and the People's Party trouble Czar

Following the Deltarian elections of 3498, the Syzygy Party and the People's Party are in a prime place. We talked with the leader of the Syzygy Party, W.J. Telles on his parties plans, moving into the next election.

"Well, as you can see, the people...the people are behind our message. It seems they're completely tired of the Czar, they're supporting our message of a return to true democracy. You saw that in our victories, in the victories of the People's Party. We're seeing a sharp decline in the support of Czarist parties. I think that speaks volumes. I think it's policy. They're tired of the policy. They're tired of the same old oppression. We, the PP and Us, we offer them something new, a new hope."

The Syzygy party and the People's Party have taken this renewed vigor and forged it into an alliance. Their goal? To hopefully gain the two-thirds majority needed to take down the Czar. Asked what would happen if there was an anti-czarist victory, W.J. Telles had this to say.

"Our first act, the day after the elections, when all the results are in? Remove the Czar. Elect a president. That's the goal. We'll try to make the transition as smooth as possible, but...certain parties...they won't be happy. It'll be difficult, but we have the people behind us. That's what we're fighting for. The people. We aren't doing this for our benefit. The People's Party isn't doing this for their benefit. Heck, we don't agree on the role of government. But, you see us...you see us out there...working together. I think that sends a strong message. Two very different parties, with two very different messages, working together against tyranny. The people know what's right. I think come election, we're going to see some huge changes."

An optimistic tone, from an optimistic leader. The Syzygy party continues to preach freedom and equality to citizens across our fair nation. Whether their message will matter or not at the polls will soon be seen.

Potatoes may be outlawed in Deltaria
Will the Republicans follow through with their threats to starve the Deltarian peasantry?
December, 3502

Strange developments in the Rada as the anti-Czarist parties declare their intentions to outlaw the humble potato. A resolution was put to vote by the Strana v Streltsy in response to peasant rumours that the government was planning to outlaw the potato, a staple crop of the Deltarian people. Shockingly, the so-called "People's" Party and the Syzygy both opposed the motion, with the Syzygy even going so far as to compare the legality of potatoes to the evil and immoral institution of slavery.

Image
To soon be added to the list of controlled substances in Deltaria? Only time will tell.

A spokesman for the Strana v Streltsy has stated that despite the threats, potatoes are unlikely to be outlawed.

"We believe that the so-called 'Republicans' won't actually follow through on their terroristic threats to steal the food from the mouths of the starving peasantry. It's likely that they're simply opposing the resolution because it was proposed by loyal servants of the Czar. That said, it shows what a sorry state the Rada is in when the majority of her representatives cannot even agree that the Deltarian smallfolk should not be made the victims of an engineered famine."

It should also be noted that the Republican parties have banded together to vote against "The Anti-Slavery Bill", presumably because it was proposed by Czarists.

Streltsy Party founders swimming in foreign donations
Evidence of corruption, or simply a modern-day success story?
December, 3502

Miroslav Novac was born of common parentage in the ramshackle Poor Quarter of Cachtice, often going without food and heating oil. Now, however, he boasts a fortune large enough to pique the interest of many an impoverished but gentleborn young lady. His father, a conscripted trenchdigger, bought him his commission as a peace officer with gold and valuables looted from victims of the Czarist War ; but how he managed to rise from a shoeless patrolman to one of the richest men in the nation is largely undocumented. Novac himself attributes it to long hours of thankless work, a risky gamble, and then the donations of hopeful foreign and domestic interests.

"Founding a political party that's loyal to the Czar but stands up for the commonborn was the best decision I've ever made. I saved for years and poured every Telar I had into attaining recognition for my party. Once our party was formed, however, we found ourselves overwhelmed with unsolicited foreign donations. I believe that the eyes of the world are on us, and recognise that we are reasonable people ; we support the Czar, but we had nothing to do with the brutal repression of his enemies in the recent unpleasantness. We're not fanatic Republicans who'll refuse to compromise their ideals when faced with cold hard realities, nor are we the Czar's butchers. That makes us the new hope for Deltaria."

Image
The new estates of the Novac family, recently purchased in cash

Novac states that his next immediate goal is to purchase some prestigious offices in the Imperial Bodyguard for his two sons and brother. "Family is important", states Novac, "and I want to ensure that my family is well provided for. Guarding the very person of the Czar might not be seen as an ambitious goal, but it brings a large measure of glory and honour."

In the meantime, however, the Strana v Streltsy has its sights on withdrawing Deltaria from the Treaty on the Keeping of Endangered Animals.

"I've always wanted a Kafuristani Lion. I hear there are only a few dozen left."

Failed attempt on Czar Dušan
Many dead in the wake of attempted Regicide
January, 3504

The world was shocked today as a bungled plot on the life of Czar Dušan turned into a running gun battle throughout the streets of Cachtice, culminating in the police slayings of twelve assassins, all members of the Imperial Life Guards and thought to be loyal and incorruptible. At noon today, four members of the Life Guards seized His Imperial Majesty and attempted to throw him to an mob of angry commoners, who had been camped outside the Castle for the past several days, protesting to demand war-widow and war-cripple pensions. Fortunately, the attempt was foiled as a police countersniper spotted the incident in time and opened fire, wounding two of the Guards and killing a third. The protesters were quickly scattered with bursts of light machinegun fire as Czar Dušan was able to break away and flee into the palace.

Image
Cachtice authorities on high alert

Fighting broke out immediately between nearby members of the Czar's Guard and Cachtice Police, many of whom appeared to be party to the plot. Fifty-two members of the Streltsy Party, including Miroslav Novac; the apparent ringleader of the failed coup, were captured and arrested as they sat in the Rada. Many more supporters of the party have fled or gone to ground as police conduct raids and investigations aimed at hunting them all down. The motive of the attempted murder is currently unknown.

Mass Mobilisations Planned as War Resumes
Peace 'off the table' for the forseeable future
September, 3507

War has resumed between Deltarian Coalition and Zardugal, who has surprisingly been joined by Jelbania, Cobura and Vanuku. The bulk of the Deltarian Army is moving west, into Cobura, backed up by allied forces from Indrala, Davostag and Wantuni, with expeditionary forces of Jakanians and Trigunians. Already the Rada is awash with proposals to increase the Deltarian mobilisation pool, calling on a general mobilisation from the Cossacks and Druzhina, and permitting foreign criminals and extremists to take up arms under Deltarian colours, and the conscription of children, slaves and political subversives.

Traitors launch attacks behind Deltarian lines
Bátory Dynasty declares war on their rivals in the Cestibor, Premyslid, Mojmir Dynasties
September, 3507

Ordered to march their household army to join the Coburan front, the Bátory family instead chose to hold them back ; using them instead to launch raids on the holdings of the Premyslid, Mojmir and Cestibor Dynasties. Several Premyslid estates were taken by force, and the highborn lords and ladies inside them murdered by Bátory soldiers. A spate of retaliatory attacks in the nations capital have already been confirmed, with the dead including Yaroslav Bátory, the sitting Minister of Finance, and Boris and Milos Mojmir, both members of the Czarist council.

Two Premyslids have been shot dead at the front after trying to lead their Druzhina home in response, leaving the Bátory Druzhina free to occupy Alazinder unchecked.
