CORONATION OF EMPEROR ALEKSIĆ PROMISES NEW ERA FOR DELTARIA
February 5th 5453

Čahtica: The entire capital could be seen decorated with flowers and symbols of the new monarchy. Soldiers rehearsing their march for the last time and people gathering all across to witness the coronation of Emperor Aleksić I. The coronation was also to be attended by a plephora of other nations, most notably His Royal Highness Crown Prince Wu Shinian of Yingdala, the Vice President of Kundrati Alexei Julihanev, Head of the Medinat Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Beiteynuese Government Sneakyeth Avodi, His Imperial & Royal Highness, Albert, the Prince of Orange, Crown Prince of Luthori, Prince of Mordussia and Rutania and Premier of the Davostag Republic Vera Vinther. Suprisingly, little to no actual heads of states visited, something seen behind closed doors as a insult to Deltaria by government insiders. To the outside however, the imperial government stated its humbleness and gratitude that a large number of important individuals from various nations attended. In special, Prime Minister Brozović noted in an interview that he was thankfull for Yingdala its attendance, stating that

we seek a stronger bond with Yingdala after centuries of strive between our people, it is humbling and a sign of good faith that the crown prince is attending this coronation.

When the guests arrived and were settled, the ceremony began. Across the country festivities were organized and millions took to the street to watch the coronation live. In the capital, the decorations decorated the streets as the Imperial Courier brought forward the ceremonial horse and wagon, taking with him the Emperor and his wife. For around 14 kilometers through the capital the Emperor travelled, being shadowed by the Imperial Guard and Federal Police which both had been placed on high alert for the coronation. Despite fears that the festivities could be interupted by either the far-right or far-left the festivities went on uninterupted throughout the day. The official ceremony, which saw the Emperor take the crown and pledge his allegiance to the people, was met with great jubilation as millions cheared in hopes of a new era for Deltaria. Following the official ceremony, the Emperor met with all the attendees and would go on to host a great state banquet for the guests to enjoy, showing the great hospitality of the Deltarian people.

The coronation formally inaugurates the Emperor as head of state, even as he had already served in that capacity for nearly a year. It marks a new era for Deltaria as a whole but also potentially for Deltarian diplomacy, with Emperor Aleksić expected to play a important role in diplomacy for Deltaria.

ZLATENICO OKO

REFINERY BEGINS PRIVATIZATION

Finance Ministry, October 29, 5453: After a meeting with Sovereign People Oil Corporation (SPOC) officials, Finance Minister Toislav Brnetic wads asked if any structural changes were in the works, and he replied:

There is one. As you are aware we really do not think privatizing SPOC, the government corporation which owns the Deltarian share of the oil reserves of Lake Majatra, should ever be privately owned whether by foreign or domestic interests. And I believe never.

On the other hand not everything related to the oil business needs to be publicly owned. Transporting the crude petroleum and the refined products and liquefied natural gas is being handled by private enterprise on the Lake, the River and the roads and local pipelines. Business appeared where there was an opportunity.

Our refinery built at Roskilde, a town to the west of Hadsingos the center of oil operations, is doing its part in insuring we have the oil reserves to weather any oil crunch whether artificially manufactured or not. It is making a profit and there has been considerable interest by investors about buying in. We are going to spin it off as Doron Akigo Refining, Inc. (DAR) 90% of its stock will be for sale on the stock exchange. SPOC will keep 10% and should things go wrong step back in. We do not really think this will be necessary.

Asked by ZLATENICO OKO if the recent elections had ended United Deltaria, Brnetic responded:

The elections have certainly ended some careers likely including mine, but no reason for United Deltaria not to continue. We will of course very soon be part of the Opposition.

DELTARIA ON COLLISION COURSE WITH BEITEYNU WITHIN MSCC
December 10th 5453
Image
Prime Minister Brozović

Čahtica: Just one month before it is expected that a KPD-PBO government is set to oust United Deltaria from the executive, the Deltarian government has made one last major foreign policy decision. In a announcement within the MSCC, foreign minister Vladimir Brkić announced that Deltaria will withdraw from participation within the CMRF entirely, removing all of its forces from the CMRF structure and putting them back under home command. He also lashed out against Beiteynu, going as far as calling for Beiteynu to "join JASA" for their apparent policy of seeking Artanian forces on Majatran soil. Prime Minister Brozović was reportedly behind the statement, seeking to set the tone for Beiteynese-Deltarian relations when the next government takes power. The announcement was followed by the intend to construct a naval base on the recently claimed Aleksići Island and to step up naval patrols in the Majatran Sea in "anticipation of this anti Majatran policy by Beiteynu" notes the Foreign ministry.

While the UD government is set to be replaced, foreign affairs experts doubt that the new KPD-PBO government of both far-left and far-right will divert from the decided on course, with the two being highly isolationist and not being keen on organizations like the MSCO. These moves by the Brozović Government thus set Deltaria on a collision course with Beiteynu and the MSCO, as the two countries adopt a widely different view on Majatran security and seem unlikely to come to terms soon. This also marks the first real internal crisis for the MSCO in quite a while, forcing all member states to think of new solutions to these somewhat old problems.

Horvat Addresses Nation for First Time as Prime Minister

Image

The new Prime Minister of the Grand Empire, Vladislav Horvat, has today held a televised press statement to the Deltarian people. Horvat laid out clearly the policy involved in his party’s coalition agreement with the KPD, whilst announcing his cabinet for the first time.

Horvat began the address by accusing his predecessors, the United Deltaria coalition, of obstructing coalition talks. He claimed that his hand had been forced into pushing the coalition out of government entirely, and that working with the Communists, a party that the PBO has traditionally had tense relations with, was a conscious choice to ensure that radical change could be delivered in Deltaria. When pressed further on the issue during questions afterwards, the Prime Minister said:

We many not have traditionally had much in common with the Communists, but during coalition negotiations I have learned that both the PBO and KPD are currently working towards very similar aims. We both want to deliver radical change to the nation, to ensure the prosperity of the Deltarian people and to security and order within our society. We have managed to come to an agreement based on these principals.

Horvat went on to discuss how he was coming into office with a clear long-term plan to deliver “greatness, stability and order” to a Deltaria which he describes as “broken”. He also announced his coalition cabinet, with the PBO getting eight ministries and the KPD five, reflecting the slight difference in seats between the two parties. Notable PBO appointments include Timotei Winter, the Foreign Secretary, a career politician who helped to found the PBO, Nemanja Adamovic, the Defence Minister and a former soldier, and Sofija Brankovic, the sister of Horvat’s wife Lucija.

NOVIVAL BECOMES PROFITABLE AFTER DECADE OF INVESTMENTS
January 10th 5454
Image
New Wave - Banking Group (NOVIVAL) its HQ in the capital of Čahtica

Čahtica: After nearly a decade of intense investments and risk taking NOVIVAL, the only online-exclusive bank in Deltaria, has reported its first financial succes last quarter by creating a profit of 24 million. For the last 10 years NOVIVAL had been struggling to gain ground in Deltaria, pioneering the idea of becoming a online-only bank in a country with a fast growing financial sector. Over those years, the bank and its large variety of investors have pumped nearly 32 billion into its creation and expansion, with the bank mounting up billions in debt in order to stay afloat. While initially the bank stayed true on its promise of being fully online, including only offering online payment options, last year the bank introduced a physical debit card, allowing customers to use a debit card for day to day transactions. All other aspects of the bank will remain online only, with no physical locations customers can go to and a fully developed online platform with which customers can transfer money, check their balance, block or unblock their debit card and much more. While investors long feared NOVIVAL would never be profitable, the first sign of the bank having potential came last quarter with the announcement of the first ever profit made.

NOVIVAL CEO Illés Pál stated that he was "excited" with the news and that "while Novi Val still has a lot to work on and a lot to catch up with, we see this development as a sign that were are on the right track." The Deltarian banking and finance sectors have grown exponentially in the last decade, fueled by increased investments in the sector as well as a declining manufacturing sector, paving the way for new industries to shape. While the traditional banks within Deltaria still hold the vast majority of the market share, it is expected that if NOVIVAL is capable of continue improving their service it could very well be a extremely important player in the banking sector. As of now, 51% of shares is controlled by "Pál Banking Corporation", the personal holding of Illés Pál, while the remaining shares are divided between a large number of private investors. Pál announced that if the bank continues to perform well, it will be seeking expansions onto foreign markets, with its low-cost online banking options potentially being a hit in other countries as well. Economists suggest that while NOVIVAL has a long road ahead, with debt to be paid off and more profitability needed, it could be a good addition for the Deltarian banking sector dominated by partially state owned banks.

Foreign Minister Aligns with UD Policy on Beiteynu

Image
Timotei Winter addressing the media.

The new Foreign Minister and member of the PBO, Timotei Winter, was asked at a press conference today about the new government’s policy surrounding the issue of clashing with Beiteynu within the MSCC. Winter was asked at the conference whether he would maintain the decision of the previous government to withdraw from the CMRF, with Winter making it clear that the new government were equally as outraged at the decision to become closer to the Artanian nations.

In his statement, Winter outlined their approach to the situation:

We completely support the decision of our predecessors to withdraw from the CMRF. Whilst this government will always place our own military interests first anyway, Beiteynu’s drift towards Artanian interests is particularly worrying and we will not place our own security at risk by entertaining notions of hosting Artanian troops on Majatran soil. Whilst of course for the time being we maintain our commitments to MSCC as a whole, any engagement in CMRF is off the table under this government, particularly whilst Beiteynu act with Artanian interests at heart.

Even amongst the biggest critics of the PBO-KPD government, this policy is not unexpected and generally supported by people across the Deltarian political spectrum. Some have criticised Winter for using the situation to enforce the government’s isolationist ideals, though Winter claims the continuation of the approach is a measured response to the situation.

KDU AND DNS MERGE TO BECOME "DELTARIAN DEMOCRATIC UNION"
August 10th 5454
Image
Pary members

Čahtica: Formalizing their United Deltaria coalition indefinitely, the Deltarian National Party and Conservative Democratic Union have formally merged into the new "Deltarian Democratic Union". The new party replaced both DNS and KDU on the ballot and dissolves the United Deltaria coalition. Following the disastrous electoral result by especially the KDU, the two coalition partners started discussing ways of gaining more traction in a new, partially radicalized political landscape. These discussions quickly ended up with talks of merging, with KDU leader Brozović being a large proponent of a merger. Specifically within the DNS some reluctance was noted, especially as the DNS continued to be larger then the KDU and were so for quite a while now. But, seeking to merge their influence, the two formally voted for a merger this morning. This means that the congressional factions have officially merged into one list, and in a show of unity have voted the same way on all proposals currently flowing from the government. The two parties, now one, specifically allign on economic and foreign policy, both expressing their desire for the Deltarian center to remain influential on the political scene.

Brozović has temporarily stepped down as party leader of the KDU, with the new DDU to hold a leadership election for all nationwide party offices including party leadership. The KDU has larged consolidated around the Hosian Democratic faction of former defense minister Andreescu, while the DNS has consolidated around their former leaders and can be largely described as pragmatic libertarians. The new party is thus expected to be diverse in ideology, something that could potentially play well in any election. But as the extremists are now in power, the first objective is to succesfully lead the oppossition against it as a united party.

Imperial Navy Conducts Training Operations in Majatran Sea

Image

Pictures have been released to the press of the Deltarian Imperial Navy conducting unplanned training operations within the Majatran Sea, just off the coast of Bǎlgrad, where the navy is usually stationed. The operations included almost the entirely of the Northern Fleet, the largest fleet within the Imperial Navy. The Ministry of Defence has made it clear in recent days that the operation occurred strictly within Deltarian waters, though Nacionalni is aware commanding officers had to intervene in proceedings a number of times to ensure that the training did not spread into international waters.

The training included preparations for naval combat, landing preparations, and procedure for naval operations in a civilian context, including emergency search and rescue. The Ministry of Defence has said that following the withdrawal of Deltaria from the CMRF that preparation for security and defence had become a national priority. The government has outlined that Deltaria’s commitment to the MSCO remained a diplomatic focus however.

The very deliberate publication of the events of the training is thought to be an attempt to display Deltarian strength to Terra following developments in the Beiteynu-Badaran military relations and global improvement in the strength of naval fleets. The public aim of the training is to demonstrate that Deltaria is still a strong military power, whilst simultaneously improving the skills of Deltarian officers, particularly following the recent introduction of national service.

The Minister of Defence, Nemanja Adamovic, said the following in an address to Congress:

The claims that the Northern Fleet of the Imperial Navy recently conducted unscheduled training operations within Deltarian waters are true. Such operations have been carried out following a large increase in the number of naval officers available for use. This has partially been triggered by the introduction of National Service, with the navy being a preferred option for many. The military does on occasion conduct such spontaneous drills to ensure secrecy of operation and procedure. In the coming weeks the results of such training shall be analysed, with the expectation that further investment into our already strong fleet may be required.

ZLATENICO OKO

Image
DNS Chair Tomasek

HAS DNS FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGED?

Naban, July 12, 5457: After a meeting at DNS headquarters in Naban, Deltarianska Narodna Strana {DNS) Party Chair Milos Tomasek was asked by ZLATENICO OKO if DNS was really as changed as it looks, and he responded:

Of course, we were in power for 100 years and now we are part of the opposition, part of the Deltarian Democratic Union. Many feel like we are permanently part of the opposition.

But to the point of your question, we are voting quite differently on legislation in two respects. First off, while DNS governed, we favored centralized government with power consolidated in the head of state for the sake of efficiency. In a four or three party system with some rather extremist elements, we are voting for diffusion of power including less to the executive and more to regions and the Congress of Deputies.

Second, and similarly we are voting to try and prevent too many abuses of the rights of the Sovereign People by the ruling coalition.

Asked by ZLATENICO OKO if it was critical of the ruling coalition’s approach to foreign policy, the MSCO and Beiteynu, Tomasek replied:

Fair to say generally we differ with the current leadership since we are not isolationists. With respect to the MSCO and Beiteynu, think everyone would agree our approach was far far more nuanced.
