OOC Source: The GuardianȜeomorceaster: Doron Akigan Prime Minister Godric Bryan of the Doron Akigan Independence Party was arrested early this morning by a force of Imperial Police and CUVO agents. The arrest took place at his private residence where Imperial Police and CUVO surrounded his residence but peacefully managed to arrest the Prime Minister. Godric his party, the Doron Akigan Independence Party, had, for the first time in over 15 years, won a election in the region again. Despite some international sources stating Deltaria as a "hybrid regime" its Duchies still mostly govern themselves, with regional elections often classified as fair. This may change however. The DAIP won the regional election with a more then 50 seat majority, defeating the coalition of the Doron Akigan Socialist League and several smaller centrist parties. DAIP is known for its anti Deltarian pro independence stance and has, according to state sources, been under close observation by the state security agencies such as OKOB and the CUVO. After the DAIP its win it already became clear their period of power would be hard if not shortlived. During the formation of a regional cabinet federal agencies such as the Imperial Police and other monitoring agencies hindered the formations, routinely arresting DAIP politicians and cabinet candidates as well as, on several occasions, directly interfering in the process by national government laws to limit Doron Akigan powers. DAIP, during their election campaign, had continued on the rhetoric they are known for. This rhetoric included calls for independence from Cahtice and the removal of Federal agencies and security authorities from the region. When the cabinet of DAIP was finally formed just two weeks ago their new Prime Minister Godric Bryan began to work on his agenda. A motion passed the Ducal Parliament in Doron Akigo to remove all Federal military, civilian police and agency assets in the region and hand policing control over to regional police. Koleno was already known to have a unfavourable opinion towards Godric and the DAIP, seeing them as a threat to Deltarian stability.
When the motion passed Koleno put a halt to what he called, "The destabilization of the Deltarian state." In a series of directives and Senate proposals he increased federal police presence in Doron Akigo by opening 50 new Imperial Police stations accross the region and opening a total of 10 new Federal prisons on Doron Akigan lands. The Imperial Senate enacted laws that curtailed "destabilizing factors" within Deltaria from gaining much influence, allowing the Imperial Police and CUVO to arrest over 200 DAIP members and high ranking officials as well as disbanding 4 city councils controlled by DAIP which are now under control of interim councils mostly seated by the KDU or DASL. The Doron Akigan government tried to push back, ordering the arrest of several Daralians in Doron Akigo. However after several days they were forced to release the Daralians under the threat that Imperial Police would be handed jurisdiction over the prisons they were in. Now, two weeks since the start of what is now called the "Second Struggle" the Doron Akigan Prime Minister Godric Bryan has been arrested by Imperial Police and CUVO agents on charges of corruption and treason.
Unrest on the streets are notable with several hundred protestors now demanding the PM his release. On Doron Akigan social media the DAIP and PM have been called "Revolutionary Hero's" fighting for a autonomous and strong Doron Akigo. Shortly after social media were blocked by a directive from the First Minister. Doron Akigan duke Sigor has reportedly condemned the actions of the national government and appealled to the Czarina for aid on the national stage. The Czarina has apparently not responded to his requests. First Minister Koleno also hasnt publicly responded and has only given out a small statement saying that, "Corruption reigned supreme in the Doron Akigan government, we have taken actions to rid the regional government of corruption and look forward to Duke Sigor disbanding parliament and calling new elections."
it is clear the Koleno government is putting pressure on Sigor to call for new elections, with the Imperial Government likely using all means at their disposal to make some of their loyalists win. It is unclear if Sigor plans to indeed disband parliament. With unrest amongst Doron Akigan citizens growing and the political crisis developing the tense state of the situation makes many wonder how it will turn out.
