INTERIOR SAYS FEDERACE DELTARSKA DID NOT LAUNCH CYBERATTACK

Interim Interior Headquarters, March 10, 5021: ZLOUTENE OKO has talked to Interior Minister Ignac Stepanek concerning the cyberattack in Keymon who stated:

It appears there was a serious cyberattack on the financial institutions of Furstentum zu Keymun. Jules Bostiger, the former Director of the Cyber Security Management Center of Furstentum zu Keymun has suggested involvement in the attack by Federace Deltarska.

After conferring with the Spolkovy Prezident, I can state that the government of Federace Deltarska was not involved and that that denial specifically includes activities of the State Directorate of Intelligence (SRPZ) and the Cyber Protection and Security Unit (OKOB) of the Ministry of Defense.

Should Furstentum zu Keymun have information suggesting some non governmental entity based in Deltaria is somehow involved, the State Office of Internal Security (SUVO) would be happy to investigate such leads.

Further, should Furstentum zu Keymun need assistance in providing for cybersecurity for its financial institutions against future attacks, OKOB is prepared to assist in updating protective measures and would be happy to work with Global Shield on such a project.

NVS INTRODUCES DORON AKIGO SPECIAL LEGISLATION

Cachtice, March 22, 5021: Novy Verny Svaz (NVS) has introduced a bill in the Spolkova Komora to give Doron Akigo a special status among the Autonomni Oblasts and its Akigan population special attention. Spolkovy Prezident Matus Prokop explained to ZLOUTENE OKO the purpose of the proposed legislation:

We recognize these provisions are a little odd and are unlikely to be a cure all for unrest in Doron Akigo. But they may help some. What we are trying to do is convince the citizens of Doron Akigo and the Akigan population they are being treated fairly. Will it convince everyone? Of course not, but we are expecting it will convince some maybe even a lot.

Further, we have no idea whether the bill will pass. Votes well in excess of a majority have been uncommitted to date. Predicting what the Spolkova Komora will actually do is a fool’s venture.

Doron Akigo office holders and employees would have to be born citizens of Doron Akigo or at least residents for ten years. This should help the citizens think they are really being ruled by their fellow citizens not outsiders.

An Akigan Authority would be established to set up a court of original jurisdiction in all criminal cases involving the Akigan population.

The Akigan authority would also see to it that all Akigan citizens receive health care, are decently housed, clothed and fed and are either gainfully employed or otherwise have an adequate income. If this measure works well, we may install inspectors insuring all citizens are receiving similar benefits of citizenship in Federace Deltarska.

NVS PREPARES FOR NEW ELECTION

Cahtice, March 17, 5024: ZLOUTENE OKO has learned that Novy Verny Svaz (NVS) will be introducing a bill for early elections into the Spolkova Komora. The bill seems to have broad support. The ostensible reason for the bill is that with the disappearance of one of the parties, the Akigan population has virtually no representation. ZLOUTENE OKO asked Ezvenie Jankova, the current NVS Party Secretary, what NVS planned to do this time and she responded:

With two center left and two center right parties vying for seats we expect a spirited contest. In all honesty, our analysis is that the center left parties will fair much better than in recent previous elections. This same analysis does indicate the likelihood of a center left party member being elected Spolkovy Prezident.

But we did learn from the last election that we do not need to base our actions on speculation about what the electorate might do. NVS will run a full slate of candidates for the Spolkova Komora and have a candidate for Spolkovy Prezident so that our point of view will be represented and voters can choose us or not. Simply put we stand for law and order and respect for tradition.

Our legislative delegation is deliberating at the moment on who should run as the NVS candidate for Head of State.

Asked by ZLOUTENE OKO why NVS did not run a candidate for Spolkovy Prezident in the last election, Jankova would only say:

That was a miscalculation.

MEA MAKES CHANGES

Cahtice, May 24, 5024: Foreign Minister Stefan Charvat announced today that the Majatran Economic Association (MEA) has made some changes:

Some provisions have been added to the charter of the MEA. First, travel between member nations will be virtually without restriction.

Second there will be an international assembly or Majatran Transnational Associative Parliament to legislate on environmental, trade, border and subsidy issues.

Third there will be established Majartran Court of Justice to deal with environmental justice, human rights and freedom of justice.

Further, the name of the organization is changing from MEA to Majatran Association or MA.

With these reforms in place we now expect to work with our Majatran neighbors to build a better, more prosperous and more secure future together.

NVS’S TOMSCHIK ELECTED SPOLKOVY PREZIDENT

Cahtice, May 28, 5024: Novy Verny Svaz (NVS) stalwart Ludomil Tomschik, who has been serving as Food and Agriculture Minister has been elected Spolkovy Prezident. In response to questions from ZLOUTENE OKO concerning plans for his administration, he answered:

Novy Verny Svaz (NVS) does not have a majority in the Spolkova Komura and so we will be looking to put together a coalition government to replace the holdover cabinet in place now. Our first choice would be a Cabinet of four parties til the next election.

Why? NVS would really like to begin laying the foundation for reemerging on the international scene in trade, diplomacy and international security. We really think all parties working to make that possible would be a good thing. Well that is our Plan A. And it may very well not be what all parties want if some feel there would be advantage to being in opposition entirely. So we shall see.

We are supporting a constitutional amendment separating Head of State from Head of Government and creating the position of Premier as Head of Government.

Cachtice: The Federal Social Democrats have elected a new leader following a leadership election where former leader Kristýna Čermáková didnt participate. Čermáková, founder of the FSD, had stated she wanted to work more on the background, becoming official campaign leader for the last electoral campaign and remaining as presidential candidate. There were two contendors for leadership. Cachtice Mayor Bořek Malík and former party treasurer Alexandr Vlček. Malík is a true moderate within the party, running on a platform of traditional social democratic values combined with pragmatism and a agenda of "renewal" for Deltaria. He believes common social democratic principles, combined with descisive leadership and a new and assertive Deltaria abroad. Vlček is a former communist, believing in a massive government to quell Deltaria's problems. From the start Malík was the favourite and during the voting at the National Party Conference the mayor won with 56% of the vote. In his speech, Malík stated that the party was on the right track but would need a new approach. At the end of it, he proposed a series of party reforms to be voted on immediately. Many insiders were shocked and furious, but according to party rules any proposal must be voted upon within 3 hours. Leadership gave everyone 2 hours to read the proposal, which included changing the party name to the Deltarian Worker's Party with a nickname being PAP or People's Alliance Party, changing the party structure to a unitary one and abolishing all regional affiliates and electing a new "party board" to replace leadership.

All proposals were voted upon and, with over 75% of members, approved. Sacking party leadership and electing a new board which consisted mostly of known party members and social democrats. Malík then proceeded to call this a "new era" for the party and promised to "do whatever possible to commit to firm oppossition of the center-right government and pass our proposed constitutional ammendments for a fairer state. We will fight right leaning policies tooth and nail and make our voices heard, proposing our own policy solutions to the chamber whenever the opportunity arises and bring the civic platform as a whole a situation where it may lead the next government. We will fight for our ideals, and we will succeed."

GOVERNMENT REACTION TO TALK OF RECESSION

Cahtice, September 16, 5024: Asked by ZLOUTENE OKO how the government would react to the talk of recession, Trade and Industry Minister Magdalena Kovarova responded:

We are not dismissing such talk by any means. It is not just socialist regimes and corrupt dictatorships with their inherent economic incompetence that have recessions and depressions, inflation, currency collapse, shortages and other economic difficulties. So called capitalist systems have them too and would be fools to deny it.

We have a mixed system of public and private ownership of the means of production and despite changes in regime from time to time are quite likely to remain so. And we are not immune to downturns either. Hardly.

We do realize that some earlier regimes in Federace Deltarska have been pioneers, among a very few practitioners on Terra, of deficit financing as a reflex reaction to economic difficulties. And advocates abound. The government having balanced the budget some time ago does not now see the need to go down that road again.

Instead we will adopt two measures used elsewhere primarily to resist Terra wide economic downturns. First, we will insure the safety net is working so that our population is fed, clothed, housed, has meaningful income and serious health care. And as difficulties arise affecting these concerns we will address them.

Second, we want people to stay employed. By whom? Largely by businesses large and small. To the extent a viable business has difficulties that loans could alleviate, the Ministry I head has loan funds available for such loans. We also have loan funds available to start viable businesses. We know we can not help every situation but we can do a lot to keep people in business. Even take it over in whole or in part if we must.

NVS FOREIGN POLICY

Cahtice, September 29, 5024: Foreign Minister Stefan Charvat responded to the suggestion by ZLOUTENE OKO that the Tomschik Administration foreign policy plans lay in ruins:

We will have to do things quite differently than we hoped since the socialist parties prefer pure opposition to taking part in a unified national outreach to our neighbors. But the objectives and approaches nonetheless essentially remain the same.

We are working with the Majatran Association to make it a focal point and vehicle for economic and continental security cooperation. Our specific task at the moment is Majatran Transnational Associative Parliamentary elections.

We are also contacting all Majatran nations regardless of Majatran Association affililiation to promote joint security and working together economically. We are truly stronger together; Majatra really needs to realize this.

Further, we are looking to other neighbors to improve our existing relationships with a view to our collective security.

TV3, Ștefănești: A few days ago, Deltaria had it's snap election, called after dissolution the Akigan minority party A-SF, and the inability of represented parties to create a coalition. After 5022 election, which resulted the worst result ever for SPO, party's leader and it's founder, András Katona resigned, and called for a leadership election, in which Deltarian Finance Minister and SPO secretary Codruța Tomoiagă has won in a landslide, seeking the 52,4% of all 500 party representatives votes in a first round.
But, now SPO suffered it's second worst result in a row, showing a certain lack of SPO voters support of party's involvment in centre-right Prokop Administration and Tomoiagă's bad work as Finance Minister, that brang Deltaria to a small, yet recession. Now, that left-wing support in continuing to shrink, Civic Platform is established, and agreement between leftisy parties about "not going in government without eachother" is made, SPO made it clear: there will be no another NRS-NVS-SPO (coffee [named after party's official colors mix]) coalition.

"It was a great honour to serve as minister, to serve for people. We're all knew, that this coalition isn't good for all three of us, but it the end, only SPO suffered. This was a great expirience, and I respect my colleagues, but now it's time for our paths to go in different ways. Leftist go left, right-wingers go right. Easy as that", - said Tomoiagă on her [and 2 other SPO ministers] resignation briefing.

Now, SPO plans to continue it's left-liberal pro-minorities stance, strong relatioship with PAP [FSD], and prepare better and stronger than ever for a next electoral campaign.

Cachtice: PAP leader Bořek Malík slammed the new right-wing government in a speech within the Federal Chamber earlier today, stating that "This new cabinet is like a disorganized school, the worst students graduate."
He reffered to the economic crisis that is now plagueing Deltaria thanks in large part to the economic policies of the previous center-right government. He called their monetary policies "irresponsible" and directly contributing to the "degradation of our social welfare system and the poverty of millions of Deltarians." In his speech he stated that the PAP-SPO alliance, named the Civic Platform, will commit to "firm oppossition against this destructive government" and that they will try to protect the social institutions in place.

This new right wing government, fueled by a believe that only the individual and the company can solve the country's problems, will result in cutting taxes, regulation and social spending to stop the recession. Such policies will be destructive and WILL plunge millions of Deltarians into absolute poverty. The PAP, and in extension the Civic Platform, will fight for every Telar to stay in the public and social system and oppose every measure that will hurt the poor, vulnerable and working people of Deltaria. We will propose our own alternatives, building on a platform of renewal, social justice and investment into future industries. It is time Deltarians hear a positive message for the future instead of a desire to go back to the past. We will make sure that this classroom of failed students is replaced by a new class of bright minds and visionaries once this undoubtedly disastrous term comes to an end

Malík also published the PAP its manifesto, including more government investments into new industries, a strengthening of the social safety net, protections for workers and unions and a major economic reform package aimed at creating a true mixed economy where "government supports individual bussiness and the greater good". This speech shows the line of Deltaria's political landscape, a line that is set to be hard for the coming years.

PREMIER RESPONDS TO SPO OPPOSITION

Cahtice, August 27, 5025: After a meeting of the Council of Ministers, ZLOUTENE OKO asked Premier Evzenie Jankova to comment on the recent remarks of Codruța Tomoiagă, the new leader of SPO. Premier Jankova responded:

I think I can speak for former Spolkovy Prezident Prokop, Spolkovy Prezident Tomschik and the other Novy Verny Svaz (NVS) Ministers in the Prokop Administration in saying we were honored to serve in a coalition with the NRS and SPO and do regret this will not be possible again.

We quite realize that special circumstances made it possible. The Prokop Administration followed the fall of Spolkovy Prezident Dvorak, and so the Prokop Administration was primarily concerned with demonstrating government could function without being a dictatorship and less concerned with ideological purity.

The ideological differences of our centrist coalition and the left leaning SPO are quite profound and so the SPO decision is certainly recognized as logical and perhaps even compelling. We would note the point of convergence for NVS and SPO has always been human rights.

Asked by ZLOUTENE OKO to comment on the criticism of the Council of Ministers by the new PAP Leader, Mayor Borek Malik, the Premier answered:

I can personally confirm that Mayor Maliki did make the remarks in question.
