With countless governments using its strong warfare tradition and arms industry to project Deltarian power accross the globe. After near 50 years of relative decline it has now become evident that the military needs a injection of cash to do a proper maintenance sweep of major weapon systems. To achieve this the Federal Assembly (now Imperial Senate) passed a reform that reserves 50 billion LOD for the Ministry of Defense to repair what needs to be repaired and make sure all major weapon systems remain operational in the foreseeable future. One of the main systems that will be looked at are those of the new Imperial Navy and its Nemec carrier. The Nemec class carrier has been the pride of the Deltarian navy for over a century and, with one remaining operational, the Ministry of Defense wants to keep it that way. Additionally the destroyers and other ships within the fleet are also being checked upon and possibly improved with the budget.
Besides the navy the airforce will also receive a maintenance sweep with the different jets within the airforce getting slight improvements to make sure they remain operational for the foreseeable future. This includes the R-37 stealth fighter jets and the multirole fighters that form the backbone of the Deltarian Airforce.
The Army will receive funds to repair and modernize a large part of its major weapon systems such as tanks, anti air missile systems, artillery systems and other equipment in need of repairs. The bill does however not only include funds to repair and modernize the armed forces but comes with a plan to adopt a new doctrine named the "Three Branch Supremacy" doctrine. While in the past Deltarian High Command had a mainly naval focus, with the navy receiving most funds and attention, now the Imperial Ministry of War (MoD) will adopt the new doctrine which aims at giving attention to all branches equally and making sure that the Deltarian Armed Forces as a whole are "theoratically capable" of winning a defensive or partially offensive war against at least the next two major geopolitical rivals of Deltaria.
To make sure we adhere to this new doctrine it is of utmost importance that we stick to it for a long period so that our military services have the time to build up strength and train to achieve their goals. It will be a long road ahead. But the current 50 billion investment program is just the first step into succesfully adhering to the Three branch Supremacy doctrine
Said Army general Roman Rezek, leader of the Imperial Armed Forces. The special forces of Deltaria, the ZNZS has also received dedicated funding in the passed bill, allowing them to retrain and aquire new specialized weaponry if needed.
The opposition in the form of the Conservative Democratic Union has already stated that they want to pass a reform to "divert a minimum percentage of the GDP towards the military" with some estimates going as high as 3%, meaning that no government would then be able to go below 3% of the GDP for the military budget without first repealling the law. The sitting libertarian government has already stated that this is a step to far but that they are willing to "invest greatly" into the new doctrine. Subsequently the Imperial Ministry of War has stated that it is "of utmost importance" to develop a roadmap for the Deltarian economy to ensure that the economy and living standards of ordinary citizens keep growing so that "the deltarian economy will not be overburdened with military expenditure as happened during the last Czarist era".
The Ministry of War has also reportedly been discussing with other ministries and defense companies in further strengthening Deltaria's domestic arms industry, as Deltaria was once the largest weapons producter on the planet the Imperial Ministry of War hopes to possibly make this a reality once more, tying the military and the economy closer together.
The military has been reformed into the "Imperial Armed Forces" once more with the different branches being named the "Grand Imperial Army, Imperial Navy and Imperial Airforce"
