Léopold d'Orléans-Vasser second in presidential elections
Rising star manages to become second in both rounds, beating out his family rivals.
Léopold Alexandre d'Orléans-Vasser giving a temperamental speech to all pure Canrillaise about his defeat being a victory.
Even though he is not President and even though his party lost two seats the ambitious Léopold Alexandre d'Orléans-Vasser was immensely pleased with the election results. "Tonight we showed Rildanor we can, tonight we showed the old political elite that a new force is inbound and that we are a force to be reckoned with, I had more votes than my relatives Jessica and Jean Badouin, leaving the other competitors even further behind, if not for their pledges of support to President Forestier in the second round we could have won these elections." This is merely a small excerpt from the large speech the party leader and presidential candidate gave on the TV channels owned by media moghul Cristopher Peletier. The facts speak for themselves, in round one of the presidential elections Léopold was a close second being only five percent behind Forestier. In the second round the margins were larger but Léopold still almost managed to get forty percent of the national votes to become President of Rildanor. On a national level, with the canton elections, the party lost over two percent of the votes reducing their seat share with two to seven seats in the National Assembly. However, in the canton of Sirdour, Debout la Rildanor's stronghold, the vote share increased to a whopping twenty-seven percent. The party leadership, including Léopold, were immensely pleased with the results even though they did not gain seats nor win the presidential run. According to the party leadership this is a small stepping stone to greater success in the future. "Clearly we have struck a cord that works for Rildanor, to come second in the presidential elections is no small feat for a party as young as ours with such ambitious ideals" said Jean-Philippe Cailloux, parliamentarian and campaign manager for Debout la Rildanor.
