Exclusive: Aurorian People's Party Leader Speaks Out

July 4242

Jessica d'Orléans-Vasser, the youthful leader of the Aurorian People's Party (APP) since its creation, has granted an exclusive interview to La Croix's lead political correspondent Stanislas Kubríck in which she denounces the treatment of her party by the political and media establishment. Since it was founded, the APP has been crowded out in political life by extremists of both the left and right. In her interview with Kubrík, Jessica reiterates once again her desire for a more moderated and pragmatic political discourse in Rildanor and speaks out on rumours about her party's connection with Istalia.

Stanislas Kubríck: Good evening Ms. d'Orléans-Vasser, it is an honour and privilege to be given this exclusive interview. Thank you for choosing our publication to speak with and I trust you've been treated well.

Jessica d'Orléans-Vasser: Honestly, Kubríck it wasn't a difficult choice. There are few news sources in Seleya, let alone Rildanor, regarded as highly as your newspaper so it was the natural decision to make. Besides, most of Rildanor's publications are so disgustingly partisan that they wouldn't even let me on their premises, never mind interview me!

SK: Sadly, I can believe that! Regardless, allow me to begin my questions: what is your response to these allegations from the President that you have 'kept information to yourself' regarding conversations between your party and the Istalian government?

JOV: My response is one of complete disappointment. Primarily, I am disappointed with a close friend and ally in President Forestier who has elected to take a story to the national press rather than raise it with me personally. Ironically, she accuses my party of doing exactly that in her interview but that's not the point. Given that the matter is now firmly in the public arena, I suppose I should clear a few matters up. Firstly, the conversations between myself and the President of Istalia should have been totally private, what the Canrillaise Liberal Party by intercepting them is wrong and unfair. It could even be illegal. In addition, this notion that there is something scandalous about these discussions is nonsense. I spoke to the Istalian President about his country's link with Baltusia and how it damages Southern Seleya, he was very helpful and suggested he would try to direct more attention to our concerns on the Security Council.

SK: Do you believe these actions from the CLP were malicious at all or motivated by a genuine hatred of Istalia?

JOV: Honestly, I'm not entirely certain. I have worked with the CLP extensively and I've never found them to be motivated by petty politics in the way that other party's can be. However, I'll be frank in saying that the current leadership has grown somewhat too close to the toxic New Canrillaise Front. I can't provide any evidence for my suggestion but I do believe that it's possible that the President was pushed by the NCP to reveal the details of these communications. It was this sort of behaviour that convinced me that they needed to be removed from government. Regarding Istalia, it does seem that there is a conspiracy within the media and political elite of this country to demonise the nation but then that's something my party has experienced extensively anyway.

SK: Do you feel you have been the victim of prejudice in the past then and how would you like to see things change going forward?

JOV: As it happens, I do. For some reason, the media in Rildanor has fetishised the extreme and the bizarre. Whether its 'imperial socialism' or mentally unstable former Presidents, it seems that some sections of society just cannot get enough of these absurd issues. In future, I would prefer a politics which is underpinned by the values of compromise, pragmatism and moderation. Instead of competing to see who can produce the craziest headlines or provide the most material for satirists, we should be cooperating on areas of agreement for the betterment of our country.

SK: You say you are opposed to extremism yet you've entered government with Arise Rildanor, who many refer to as extremists or fascists, how do you reconcile these two facts?

JOV: Having worked with the party for some period of time now, I have to admit that I don't understand the great hysteria surrounding Arise Rildanor. In comparison to some of Rildanor's other political parties, they are surprising pleasant to cooperate with. There will always be those who oppose a coalition decision but I have no intention of abandoning my cousin and his party, they're doing a fine job at the moment.

SK: Thanks once again for your time, Ms. d'Orléans-Vasser.

JOV: It's been my pleasure, Kubríck.

Istalia, 'international do-gooders' silent on Kanjorien regime due to less friendly stance toward Rildanor, says Rodier
'Anti-democratic regime' draws no ire from Istalia or lame duck Security Council

Controversial ex-Foreign Minister and FNC leader Cyrillic Rodier spoke to press today after reports from Kanjor of renewed oppression on the part of the current, openly reactionary government.

"Where is Istalia now," asked Rodier outside FNC party headquarters in Labonne. "Where is Luthori? They're all for intervention in favor of 'democratic regimes,' but on the issue of Kanjor they're silent, presumably because they've found a more willing ally in the PUF in their crusade against the rise of Rildanor and the fall of their allies Baltusia. It's despicable politicking, and the people of Kanjor are forced into a dark age for the benefit of some financeer in Istalia."

The foreign ministry declined to comment when contacted by this publication. Rodier was recently cut out of his long-time ministerial position after the political tides turned against him following the rise of his party's political adversary Jessica d'Orléans-Vasser. Some hint that Rodier may be pondering a presidential run after the mysterious 'vacation' of Jean Baudouin d'Orléans-Vasser to Dalibor.
Just a bunch of shit.

Rodier, FNC 'condemn Istalian adventurism', call on President to close Rildanorian waters to Istalian ships or resign
President's support for Istalian blockade 'tantamount to war declaration on Vorona'

Cyrille Rodier, the leader of the New Canrillaise Front [Front Nouveau Canrillaise] and former Foreign Minister and World Congress Ambassador, has called upon President and political rival Jessica d'Orléans-Vasser to "withdraw her support for Istalian imperialism, close Rildanor's waters to the Istalian imperialists, or resign in shame for allowing a Majatran nation to meddle in Seleya."

Rodier is a staunchly anti-Istalian political figure who has stirred controversy for fiery statements against the Majatran republic in the past.

President Orléans-Vasser released a statement of support for the Istalian blockade, which looks set to pass in the Istalian legislature as early as May.

"The FNC condemns Istalia's further adventurism in Seleya as nothing but yet another encroachment upon the sovereignty of Seleyan nations. Indeed, the Istalian presidential proposal for the blockade acknowledges that Istalia is acting against the wishes of the World Congress, which defeated Resolution 23 as a clear message against the 'democratic nation building' of the Istalian imperialists. We call now upon all nations of Seleya to unite against this act of aggression and to close their waters to Istalian vessels."

The Foreign Ministry did not immediately comment, though it is unlikely that Rildanor's government will push for Seleyan nations to close their waters to Istalian naval vessels. In order to reach Vorona, Istalian vessels must either sail through the Odufart Sea, passing Aldurian and Kanjorian waters and then in the narrows between Indrala and Rildanor, or else travel northward around the entirety of Seleya, a trip likely to be excessively costly. Some experts believe the FNC may use its close contacts with several parties in Kanjor to attempt to make passage through the waters of Kanjor difficult.
Just a bunch of shit.

President Brands Kanjorien 'Immoral Warmongers'

March 4245

Jessica d'Orléans-Vasser, leader of the APP and twice President of the Republic of Rildanor

Rildanorian President Jessica d'Orléans-Vasser has launched a vicious attack on the nation's closest ally Kanjor in response to their decision to close their waters to Istalian ships. Speaking outside her personal residence, the President said that even such close friends and allies as Kanjor and Rildanor must be prepared to make a stand when one another are acting inappropriately. Controversially, the Kanjorien Navy recently stated that it was prepared to take action to prevent Istalian vessels from reaching Vorona by refusing access to the Silliers channel. While the opposition have signalled their support for the decision, Jessica was far less welcoming.

"Acting in total defiance of the principles on which both of our nations were built," said the President "Kanjor has chosen to adopt the role of immoral warmongers, placing their own selfish and ignorant views above the causes of human liberty and international stability". Previously, she had given her full support to the Istalian blockade of Vorona, a nation which the Foreign Minister has referred to as 'backwards' and 'built on pure savagery and lunacy'. The Aurorian People's Party have experienced a rift with their previous governing partners over the issue of Rildanor's relationship with Majatran giant Istalia, with the former looking to strengthen relations.

Despite the bullish tone adopted by their leader, it seems the general population in Rildanor is less convinced by the decision of the Istalians. Across the entire population, opinion polling suggests a rift between those who back Kanjor's stance and those who believe the Istalian blockade should go ahead. Interestingly, minority communities such as the Mordusian and, unsurprisingly, the Istalian populations are much more likely to express a favourable view of Istalia's plan compared to the dominant Canrillaise, who tend to be supportive of neighbouring Kanjor's decision.

L'Aurore! | la Rildanor aux canrillaise

L'Aurore! has received permission from the Vanukean state press to publish this piece in their own publishment.

New Minister of Foreign Affairs: Léopold d'Orleans-Vasser
Controversial Rildanorian multi-millionaire and politician finds new home in Vanuku.

Image
The Rildanorian immigrant Léopold d'Orléans-Vasser at the first cabinet meeting as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs.

December 4245 - He made his fortune in Rildanor, he had a long career in Rildanor, he entered politics in Rildanor, his own party even sat in two governments. Yet Léopold d'Orléans-Vasser was never able to fulfill his dream of becoming President of Rildanor, nor did his party Arise Rildanor become the biggest party. Two times the Canrillaise royal came close to winning the presidency. After the disappearance of his uncle Jean Badouin from the political scene and seeing his cousin Jessica become President for the second time the eccentric Léopold had enough. He disbanded his party and for a moment seemed to simply retire. He traveled across the world for a time, seeming to take some time off. In New Verham he caught the eye of an associate of King Wrntukai IV, who was close to returning to Vanuku at that point. The associate arranged a meeting between the two royals and in the end it turned out the two men had a lot in common. A deal was struck, d'Orléans-Vasser would move his vast real estate and banking empire to Vanuku and he would be made a citizen and given a prestigious post in one of the most powerful nations across the globe. Upon the crowning of King Wrntukai IV it was even announced that Léopold was given the privilege to call himself a "Prince", a rare honour sometimes bestowed upon nobles of dethroned houses who lost the privilege of their noble titles at home.

The King and Prince seem to get along fine and the new Prefect, the Duke of Nachten, is a man with similar political views to the Canrillaise Prince. On some fronts they disagree yet in all d'Orléans-Vasser has impressed his Vanukean hosts, a feat that gave him the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs. One of the most prestigious and influential posts within the cabinet. It was Prince Léopold that was the driving force behind the sanctions on Istalia according to inside sources, his first big political feat in his new nation. His quick rise to success in Vanuku has not yet led to any comments from his family in Rildanor, although some are sure that his uncle Jean Badouin will be seething to see his nephew do so well.

Economy cools as government seats remain vacant
Rildanor's economy has shed nearly 500,000 jobs, GDP has shrunk nearly 2% after almost two years of neglect

The economy struggled once again in the first quarter of 4246, according to figures released today. Since the disastrous Tweeter-abandonment of Rildanor by the crazed Jessica d'Orleans-Vasser and her party, which left multiple crucial government seats unfilled, nearly half a million jobs have been lost.

With the finance, trade and industry, and foreign ministry all vacant, merchants, farmers, and industrialists have all been unable to secure loans, deposit funds with guarantees of protection, invest in infrastructure, or even negotiate international deals. This has left the Rildanorian economy unable to cope, and has led to a recession unrivaled in recent history.

New Canrillaise Front leader Cyrille Rodier placed much of the blame on Orleans-Vasser's abandonment, but also blamed the Nationalist Party, 1Republic, and the Nationalist Front, all of whom have delayed the creation of a new government or early elections.

"It is sheer neglect, and the men and women of Rildanor are paying the price. We've been driven into decline by the spurious whims of a Dusklight (OOC: Twilight)-reading imbecile in Jessica d'Orleans-Vasser, and that decline has been exacerbated by the same parties that have allowed Rildanor's former greatness to turn to dust for centuries."

Jean Baudouin dead in Dalibor
Self-exiled former president dies tragically

Image
Crime scene photos from the scene of Jean Baudouin's death in Dalibor. The cat is not a person of interest.

News of the death of former Rildanorian president Jean Baudouin d'Orleans-Vasser has rocked Dalibor and Rildanor this morning after shocking reports that Jean Baudouin died of auto-erotic asphyxiation.

The troubled former president had moved to Dalibor following allegations of tax fraud, and later gave a now-infamous interview with Solène Maret. That interview led many to question Jean Baudouin's mental stability. Little had been heard from Jean Baudouin since, and his lawyers and publicists only stated that Jean Baudouin would give no further interviews.

Dalibor police commissioner Tian Yong confirmed to reporters that Mr. Orleans-Vasser had died hanging from his neck with a plastic bag around his head in a motel room in Dalibor's Tongmen slum district. He was joined at the time by two local sex workers, one male and one female. Those sex workers are not under investigation, according to Tian.

Our paper tracked down the female sex worker.

"He demanded we call him Uncle Jean Baudouin," Feng Delan told us through an interpreter. "He called me 'Jessica', and he was always very rough. He called Tan [Lan, the male sex worker] 'Leopold', and spat in his face several times."

"Uncle Jean Baudouin was a regular customer. He cried a lot. He cried this time too, and told Tan that he never should have been made foreign minister, I don't know what he meant. He liked to choke, he said it helped him relax. This time he wouldn't let us take off the bag. We tried and tried, but he pushed us back until... he stopped."

Jean Baudouin had notoriously hostile relationships with his nephew Leopold d'Orleans-Vasser, who recently was named Foreign Minister of Vanuku, apparently a final blow for the depressed former President.

Dalibor police have released Jean Baudouin's body and await its retrieval by Jean Baudouin's next of kin. In a cruel twist of fate, Leopold d'Orleans-Vasser happens to be that next of kin.

Restored monarchy "already bringing economic improvement" only three months in
Tourism from Kanjor, Alduria, and Lourenne jumps to record highs after restoration of Orleans-Vasser family to ceremonial throne

The controversial - but successful - restoration of the Kingdom of Rildanor under the Orleans-Vasser family in July has brought significant positive economic impact, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A "record number" of tourism visas have been granted to citizens of Kanjor, Alduria, and Lourenne, a spokeswoman for the ministry said on Thursday.

"Those loyal patriots who remember a time of glory for the Canrillaise nations are flocking to the home of a restored Orleans-Vasser monarchy," said the spokeswoman. "Tens of thousands of men, women, and children have flocked to the Château de Fontainebleau-Versailles to see His Majesty Auguste I and to pray for the strength of a renewed Canrillaise monarchy under one of the most noble and dignified families known to Terra."
