Dubois in a "precarious" position

Olivier Dubois's role as Président of the Parti Hosien-Démocrate is "precarious", according to a senior source inside the party. Rildanor National News understands that tensions are building within the party over whether Dubois continues to be the right man to lead.

The revelations came after a poor showing for the party in the 3801 elections, where the PHD lost half their seats in the Sénat. The party were expected to lose seats as the nation adjusted to four-party politics, but the scale of the loss was said to have shocked many in the party.

It is believed that Dubois survives in the role thanks to his strong personal showing in the Premier Ministre election, which he led after the first round of voting, but ultimately lost to incumbent Premier Ministre Linus, duc de Dimitri-en-Thallori. Dubois polled far ahead of the party, and it is this public popularity that may have kept him in his post.

If Dubois were to be replaced as Président du Parti, the bookies' early favourites to replace him include Home Affairs spokesman Alexandre Noel and Vincent Maillard, the Finance spokesman, who is expected to be named as Health Minister in the forthcoming unity government.

Parti de l'Ecologie Rildanor Gains Political Traction with Election Result

The Parti de l'Ecologie Rildanor gained significant ground on its contemporaries in their last election. The party showed marked improvement over the prior election, winning 15 seats ahead of just 1 before the election. They still do have more work to do, still sitting in fourth out of five parties in the Senat. The Greens are very happy that the amicable Parti Nationaliste won the election again! Congratulations! Potential War Hangs Over Rildanor


War with Lourenne still remains a possibility, worrying the PER.

All parties but the PER believe that war with Lourenne is necessary and would be beneficial to the people and nation itself. Though all their allies and our former allies have assembled with Lourenne, the other parties remain stubborn in the ideal of war. If we can give a last warning before the nation gets dismantled and falls into debt, we would like to say that everything the Parti de l'Ecologie Rildanor stands for is against this war effort. We will do whatever it takes to keep us from losing an unnecessary war and are open to negotiations on behalf of the Rildanor government to quell tensions if necessary with Lourenne.

Conservative Renaissance in Rildanor


With a flurry of bills being tabled, the Conservatives are trying to wrestle back control in Rildanorian politics.

Though Conservative ideologies in Rildanor are less common than Liberal ones, their political parties are trying to make an impact on the laws of Rildanor. With proposals in favor of privatization [1] and repressing women's rights [2], the right side is experiencing a revitalization in the nation. We welcome the new ideas to the Senat.

Les Greens Become Second In Command! Parti Nationaliste Wins Again!

The Parti de l'Ecologie Rildanor keeps climbing the ladder politically with another successful election! Les Greens won 14,998,353 out of the 58,842,948 total votes cast, translating to second place in the polls and 26 out of 100 seats in the Senat. The Parti Conservateur Démocratique won the same amount of seats, but were 78,025 short of the PER. Parti Nationaliste won again, to the delight of PER supporters everywhere. Parti Hosien Démocrate finished in fourth, and two new parties garnered no seats between them. That said, the Union Populaire looks to be a party with similar voting tendencies to Les Greens so we may see them get some seats next election cycle. Action Citoyenne just joined the nation and missed the vote this time, but they are another party that values environemtnalism and equal rights for all, so we hope to see them do well in the future! War Negotiations Begin Between Rildanor and Lourenne


A busy Fletcher Bourassa, Rildanor's Foreign Affairs Minister from the Parti de l'Ecologie Rildanor, begins negotiations with Lourenne

The Parti de l'Ecologie Rildanor was proactive today in attempting to reach the ruling party in Lourenne to try and work on a peace deal for the two nations. The PER has repeatedly voiced their concerns in entering a pointless armed conflict with a neighboring nation, and wants to work out peace ideally before July 3805. Bourassa had this to say at a national press conference this afternoon in Les Greens headquarters in Arloux:

We value the lives of those working in the Rildanorian Armed Forces and a war at this point would only put them in unnecessary danger. Not to mention the civilian casualties that we could suffer in the fight. Our allies have voiced their concern for a possible conflict and we at the Parti de l'Ecologie Rildanor stand with them, against war. We are still waiting for a response from Lourenne about the terms, but the offer is on the table and we would love to see a new friendship between our two nations in the future.

A Visit From Afar: Rildanor-Istaliana Friendship Treaty Proposed

Fletcher Bourassa was also busy recently in negotiating a treaty of friendship between Rildanor and Istaliana when we wasn't negotiating peace with Lourenne. The deal has been criticized from some members of the far left wing in Rildanor as it meant coming to an agreement with a historically conservative ruling party. Bourassa and the rest of Les Greens saw no problem with the deal, though, and the Foreign Affairs Minister explained this in a press conference after the deal was signed.

We saw this deal as a great opportunity for peace between our two nations. We want to negotiate with all parties, regardless of a wing they are on. As long as they still value the principles for which we fight for, we can agree. I have also made a point to try and get an ecological sustainability clause on the treaty as well. We have also had very constructive discussions with the Labor party in Istaliana and wish them luck in future elections.

Today, Pierre Debuchy, leader of the DCP, stepped down from his position as leader of the PCD, just 3 days after his inspirational message. Francois Netherlande will replace him as leader.
When asked why he stepped down, Debuchy commented, "The time for change has come. The PCD needs a change in leadership. Mr. Netherlande will make a great leader."

Although he is stepping down from his position as leader, he will continue within the party.

Institute Publique Releases its first University Ranking

The Institute Publique du Rildanor (IPR, Public Institute of Rildanor) released its first ranking of Rildanorian universities today. In the top spot was the Université d’Arloux followed by the Université de Niraldonne with the Université Royale de Tiralouse rounding out the top three.

The IPR’s university index was an assessment of the universities’ performance, resources and instruction in regards to research and higher education.
“Each university was evaluated in regards to six key categories: Research, Faculty Awards, Student Awards, Reputation, Alumni and Library holdings,” explained the IPR in its released report. Research and faculty awards were equally weighted the most, comprising a combined 50% of the index, followed by the reputation survey at 20%. Library holdings was weighted the least with only 5% influence on the index. Results were compiled out of information requests completed by both institutions and the federal government. The reputation and alumni categories were supplemented by surveys completed by 2726 members of industry and academia.

So what does this report say about the overall health of Rildanor’s post-secondary institutions?

“Overall we found that all of our public post-secondary institutions are performing well. University in Rildanor is both accessible and high quality.” Stated Pierre-Luc Chartrain, the lead researcher responsible for the index.

“Our top 5 institutes in Rildanor are producing incredible research and highly qualified graduates” Chartrain said. “[Rildanor’s] emphasis on egalitarianism within education also means that the gap between top performing institutions and universities on the lower end of the index is actually not that big.” Citing the government’s preference to distribute resources more equitably among institutions.

“On the world stage however, it perhaps hurts our top institutions.” Hinted Chartrain. “Perhaps we should be moving towards targeted funding and resources for universities to specialize in their key strengths and develop incredible and internationally renowned key programs.”

PCD STORMS TO VICTORY AFTER REFORMATION

PCD WIN 134 SEATS IN SENAT

The PCD once again tasted victory in the Rildanorien Elections gaining 134 seats out of a possible 313. However, this was not enough, resulting in a hung parliament.

The PCD will need to form a government with the Parti Nationaliste to create a majority.





The PCD also came out on top in Morbanaque and Sirdour Cantons.
