Election Results See Youth Alliance Losing Ground, Démocrates de Gauche Rises

The elections held at the end of January showed a strong turn out around 75%. The once widely popular Youth Alliance Party (Parti Jéunes Alliancé) took a bit of a beating, losing 24% of their support from the previous election. The previous election was a snap election held after the brief dissolution of the Parti Progressistes Royaliste, which has since returned in a weakened, yet still marginally present state. The royalists had a resurgence during the election, amid highly credible and widely substantiated rumors of ideological discord and increased ill-will amongst leadership.
A new party, Démocrates de Gauche, gained 100 seats, with a strong showing for a social democratic party in historically liberal and traditionalist Alduria. They have since reached out to Parti Libéral, in an effort to form a viable coalition government as analysts predict Progressiste Royaliste's increasing slide into a defunct state
Marco Baptiste of the Youth Alliance won the presidential election, although his popularity was hurt by widespread opposition to budget cuts, with slogans of "Baptiste cuts, we walk" being echoed through internal affairs and justice ministry employee unions, while economists and policy experts from the left of center and center alike balked at Baptiste's adminstration's cutting.
To add dissatisfaction to the spread disappointing cuts, when Youth Alliance proposed a compromise budget, the did not reinstate funding to Internal Affairs, while increasing funding to the military, in spite of the same administration's previous argument for leaving the Seleyan Union, which was based on unnecessary military involvement.
