Popular Front re-forms

For students of history, the name of the Popular Front recalls a turbulent time in Kirlawan politics. Emerging as left wing opposition to the CandyKids dictatorship, they helped form the Left Coalition. Later, they were among the key players in the Kirlawan Civil War, when they allied with (and invited in) Dundorfians communist forces to assist against the fascist takeover of government. They formed the Popular Militias, which launched an audacious (some say terrorist) series of attacks that ended 30 years of Lucasite rule.

After a dalliance with Dundorfian expansionist aims, and a crisis of identity, they left the Kirlawan political scene around 1800 years ago.

Now, with a resurgence of the ideas of Zasper Ertigon at colleges around the country, and the founding of local "Popular Militias" in Merkan and Uwakah by militant trade unionists, a new party, the KPF 4.5k - marking their founding in December 4500 - entered candidates in the recent elections. They took less than 50,000 votes and gained no seats, and did not get anything in the regional or Senate elections. But Danivon Luze (a descendent of the first leader bearing the same name) has said that the party are looking to make a breakthrough in future years.

Some have expressed concern, not so much at the emergence of another revamp of a political party, but at the link (if not official) with a miltia group. Luze has tried to distance itself from some of the more radical positions taken by some militia units, but the party has also included Freiheitstadt Division leader Col. Xavier Smith among its leadership committee.

Kirlawa gives overwhelming support for institutional reforms
The Taoiseach McEvoy is elected for the first time with the new system with more than 50 million votes

Image

Despite the words of some catastrophists who foresaw that the constitutional and institutional reforms promoted by the newcomer to the position of Head of State, Maia McEvoy, were going to meet with great opposition from the citizens, four years later the polls have spoken and they have done so by giving a sweeping support to the Taoiseach party.

After the approval of the reforms that established a single joint head of State and Government, elected directly by the citizens, the creation of the Supreme Court of Kirlawa, the regional governments, the President of Parliament and many other reforms, the citizens of Kirlawa have approved them with overwhelming results: with an electoral participation of more than 76% of the citizens with the right to vote, the Taoiseach party, Joint Proposal, has obtained more than 57 million votes (99.96 of those surveyed) and she herself has obtained her position of Taoiseach de Kirlawa with more than 57 million votes as well.

"Today is a historic day"
said Mrs. McEvoy excited after knowing the results
"it has been shown that Joint Proposal is truly the party of all our citizens, who support and defend the reforms we have carried out during these years to democratize our nation. Thank you very much to all who have made this possible. "

These election results have resulted in the fact that citizens have given the Joint Proposal absolute power, which obtains 749 seats from the newly released Senate of the Republic, and will have their hands free during the next term to pass the laws "that Kirlawa needs now under our new system "in the words of Taoiseach herself.

Maia McEvoy announces the creation of two important constitutional reforms
The Taoiseach of Kirlawa also announces that she will not seek a new reelection

Image
Taoiseach McEvoy during her appearance

The Taoiseach of Kirlawa, Maia McEvoy, announced today that she will seek the support of the Social Democrats, the opposition party, to unanimously carry out the two major constitutional reforms of this legislature: the law of equality and the law of referendums.

The equality law, named as LGBT Protection and Equality Act, will shield, in the words of the Taoiseach herself "the rights of two groups historically discriminated by world societies: the LGBT collective and women, so that they will be constitutionally protected". The law includes the prohibition of what are known as "conversion therapies" and discrimination based on sex or sexual orientation, as well as equal marriage or legalization of homosexuality, both long-standing legal things in Kirlawa but that will now happen to enjoy constitutional protection.

The law on referendums, on the other hand, aims to "actively increase the participation of citizens in the decision-making process of politicians", with the creation of three types of referendums: Taoiseach referendums, Senatorial referendums, and Popular referendums. To know more about them, click here.

"I wish with all my heart that the Social Democrats support these constitutional reforms,"
said Mrs. McEvoy.
"We differ in some things, but in essence, both Social Democrats and us defend the rights of all citizens of Kirlawa, and we believe in equality and social advancement, as well as in collaboration among all to build a better society. That's why I think there will be no problem of understanding. "

However, the Taoiseach has already advanced that if she does not get the support of the Social Democrats she will pass both laws as simple government laws, thanks to the majority that her party, previously known as Comthtogra-Joint Proposal and now renamed as Seasamh Clé (Kirlawan for "Standing Left"), has in the Federal Senate (410 seats out of a total of 749).

Mrs. McEvoy has taken advantage of her appearance to also announce that she will not stand for re-election in the next elections. McEvoy, who will be 75 years old in the next election, has been chairing the party since its founding, in 4691, and the national government since 4704, and believes that the time has come to "step aside."

"I cannot be more proud of what we have achieved during the governments that I have led. We have turned Kirlawa into a democratic reference, and soon we will also make it a social and scientific reference. Those were my aspirations and I am glad to have been participant in that change that our nation needed so much. "

During the governments of Mrs. McEvoy numerous laws have been passed in Kirlawa and numerous institutional reforms have been undertaken, such as the official creation of the figures of the leaders of the Federal Senate, the regional heads of government, the mayor of the capital - who in turn has also undergone a change of name - the creation of the Supreme Court or the improvement of working conditions for workers. The Taoiseach has announced that during the rest of this legislature she also pretend to reform the tax system and increase the spending on health and science in the nation. She also wanted to contact the rest of nations of Terra to keep expanding the Kirlawan Official Diplomatic Treaty, in order to implement official diplomatic relationships with Terran nations.

It is not yet known who will take her place in the party, but many voices agree that the figure of Maia McEvoy has already left an indelible mark on the collective memory of the citizens of Kirlawa.

Taoiseach weekly appearance: Pontesi, Artanian Union and Science
The Head of State and Government of Kirlawa announces a total ban on Pontesi, his complaint to international organizations, the attempt to relaunch the Artanian Union and a large investment in science

Image

The Taoiseach of Kirlawa, Ciarán Kennedy, today announced the intention of his government to cut diplomatic relations with Pontesi, as well as to veto the entrance of the politicians involved in what he has described as "the massacre that is being committed in their territory". In addition, he has taken advantage to denounce the complicity of the international community by remaining silent in the face of such a serious event.

"From this moment, all relationship with Pontesi is severed. Furthermore, trade, neither entry nor exit, with this nation will be allowed. We urge the other countries of the world to do the same, since the actions that their government is carrying out can receive no other name than "crimes against humanity", by dividing citizens into social classes based on purely ideological criteria and the mass and indiscriminate murder of those people who do not coincide with their own concept of those who should inhabit their nation. It is extremely shameful and disgusting, and the silence of the international community, and of the Security Council, is not understood in the face of such a despicable event. "

Furthermore, the Taoiseach has announced its intention to establish contact with the other nations of Artania to relaunch what it has considered a "new Artanian Union", but more focused on people than on economic powers.

Finally, in his weekly appearance, he took the opportunity to remember that his government is working to make Kirlawa "a benchmark in science", with a gigantic investment to equip the country's laboratories with the latest technology and invest in science education.

The Government inaugurates the Kirlawa Advanced Scientific Research Center
This center will enable Kirlawa to lead the way in scientific research over time, with the latest technology and cutting-edge research fully funded by the government.

Top image: main research buildings; bottom left: hospital and investigators' offices; bottom right: seat of government of the center.

The Taoiseach Ciarán Kennedy has officially opened the so-called Kirlawa Advanced Scientific Research Center (Ionad Taighde Eolaíochta Ard Kirlawa), which will centralize the most cutting-edge technology and the latest advances in research in the nation.

After more than five years of construction, the newly opened center will serve to carry out the research of more than 5,000 scientists, carefully selected and fully funded by the Kirlawan government. According to the Head of Government, this center "will allow Kirlawa to be among the most advanced countries in science and research."

"What we inaugurate today is a very important milestone in our history. This center, which has been equipped with the latest technology and the best materials, will allow our best scientists to carry out their research fully subsidized by the government. It is an important step when it comes to being at the forefront of research at the global level, and will allow better cooperation between the rest of the nations of Terra and ourselves."

The center, located on the outskirts of the country's capital, is made up of three sets of buildings: the main one, made up of 12 blocks of buildings, contains the research laboratories, in which more than 5,000 researchers from all areas of the country will carry out their work. The second set of buildings is made up of a hospital to contain and care for those affected, in the event of a biological alert or alarm in the country due to a highly dangerous disease for the nation, in a 14-storey building. Next to it, there is a smaller building where all the researchers' offices will be located, and in a slightly more remote block the families of all those scientists from other parts of the country who have not obtained a house will be able to live. Finally, the last building is the Center's government headquarters, which will be set up as an autonomous body to avoid interference by the government and whose Rector (Reachtaire) - the director general of the entire Center - will be chosen by the scientists themselves by a qualified majority and only they will be able to remove them by the same qualified majority. The position of this Rector will be so powerful that they will only be subordinate to the Taoiseach, placing themselves at the same level as the Ministry of Health or Science, which has already led public opinion to qualify the position as "portfolio without a Ministry" .

Public opinion on this issue is almost unanimously favorable, with many voices agreeing with the government with the creation of a center that will undoubtedly place Kirlawa as a benchmark in research.
