Department of Defence approves 1.148 billion kuno arms deal

The Department of Defence has approved a 1.148 billion kuno arms deal with manufacturers originating from Kundrati. The deal includes the import of 50 Arrano K-22 ground attack aircraft, 20 Aero L-159 light combat aircraft, 90,000 SL-31 pistols and 20,000 SL-543 assault rifles. The deal has been approved by the Head of State, Head of Government and Minister of Finance. The purchase has been made as part of the government's new initiative to develop national security and military capabilities, which has been expedited after the recent coup attempt by the Creideamh Págánach. A call has been sent out for more army personnel in order to better prepare the nation, with an expected growth of 12,000 personnel.

How the recent failed coup has furthered internal strife

The recent failed coup by the group "Creideamh Págánach" has furthered internal strife within the government, with a multitude of government agencies clashing heads over how the future of the state can secured. This strife stems from the fact that the operation to suppress the coup had been hastily put together last minute as the paramilitaries had moved their timeline forward in a paranoia filled attempt to protect their coup. While having ultimately failed, it lead to a number closer to 25% of the coup's conspirators escaping arrest, while approximately 68% of the conspirators that were located were shot and killed, including all of the Inner Circle (except the Special Detective who infiltrated it). The mistakes of the coup has caused the Department of Justice to train GNP personnel in a more heavy handed approach to operation like this, which has prompted the Defence Forces to claim that the DoJ has begun incursion upon their duties, and the government should instead use military aid to the civil power. Business confidence has also taken a hit, causing the Department of Trade and Industry to attempt to force additional funding it's way in order to regain confidence, to no avail. Further strife has also flared up within the Aontas Náisiúnta, with differing internal factions of the party fighting over how they can prevent situations like this in the future, with moderates and radicals blocking eachothers' resolutions in order to try force the other to accept their proposed measures.

Formation of the Údarás Náisiúnta Spáis
August 29th 5448

The government has mandated the creation of the Údarás Náisiúnta Spáis, or National Space Authority in order to manage it's increasing forays and dealing in relation to space. Formed under the auspices of the Department of Science and Technology, the UNS is designed to function as the central governing body responsible for coordinating and overseeing all aspects of the nation's space program along with coordinating with other nations on matters such as the Artanian Space Agency or Projecy Terraway. The UNS has also been given secondary roles such as industrial development and national security, along with it's main objective of the research of space. To fulfil these goals, the UNS has already begun the development of two launch sites, both located in Ubhaca, which are to be able to launch into both inclined and polar orbits as necessary. On top of this, a call has been sent out for 14 astronauts, each of which will be requred to at least have NFQ level 9 education in a natural sciences, along with a minimum of 3 three years of experience in those fields.

52 GNP officers found dead, military officers suspected
July 3rd 5450

After failing to report to work this morning, GNP detectives uncovered that 52 officers have been murdered inside their own homes, and a further 109 are as of current missing. All of the officers were allegedly killed via suppressed gunfire in the middle of the night. According to the GNP, the attacks were perpetrated by men wearing ski masks along with what appeared to be officer's combat fatigues, with teams of three attacking each location. Getaway vehicles are reportedly unmarked SUVs in either black or grey colours. The GNP has deduced by the mannerisms, methods and equipment used that the suspects we likely military officers, and that the attacks were due to increasing tensions as a result of the [EXPUNGED] incident a few months back, along with other interdepartmental conflicts. The Defence Forces have already reacted by stating that they would be conducting their own investigation, and that the GNP "Should not interfere with military matters".

Military seizes power, Kirlawan times going underground
July 15th 5450

The military has seized power via the violent and rapid coup of the elected government, and has in it's place installed a quadrumvirate in which all fours members are equal dictators of the state. Civilian and police officials are being rapidly purged, with the initial chaos of the coup being used by the military as a smokescreen in order to purge their rivals, along with groups such as Aontas Náisiúnta who may potentially pose a threat in the long term. The quadrumvirate consists of Fachtna Sweeney, Head of the Army, Páidí Vincent, Head of the Air Corps, Feidhlim O'Reilly, Head of the Navy and Rory Ó hÉideáin, Director of until now hidden intelligence service, called Stiúrthóireacht Náisiúnta Faisnéise. The quadrumvirate has announced that martial law is in place, and that the civil government will replaced with a "more suitable" system to run the nation. The constitution has been suspended, with most civil liberties being denied.

While foreign views are yet to be seen, views at home have been mixed. Hardline nationalists along militarist groups have been showing much support already for the new government, while statists and alt-right groups have show some support. Hardline democrats have been outraged by the move however, and many have gone underground to avoid persecution. Many pieces of media have gone underground as well, including us, the Kirlawan Times, as a result of the suspension of press freedom.

OFFICIAL NOTICE: Now under Military Command

After a period of conflict throughout the nation as result of the necessary stabilisation measures the military was forced to undertake, the military is declaring the following four as it's Ceannaire which are the equal Heads of State and Heads of Government:

• Fachtna Sweeney, Head General Officer Commanding of the Army
• Páidí Vincent, Head General Officer Commanding of the Air Corps
• Feidhlim O'Reilly, Head General Officer Commanding of the Navy
• Rory Ó hÉideáin, Director of Stiúrthóireacht Náisiúnta Faisnéise

The state is also announcing a permanent suspension of the constitution, and major changes from the official name of the nation to the rights of citizens. The quadrumvirate has also seen fit to implement the following hierarchy system in the nation:

1. At the base of hierarchy is the menial labourers, whom are seen as both expendable and easily replaceable, and often fill roles such as steelworkers, miners and more.
2. At the second rung of the hierarchy is the skill labourers, whom are seen as necessary and not easily replaceable, and are granted more rights and privileges than rank 1.
3. At the lower middle of the hierarchy is the standard security functionaries of the nation, being police and soldiers, they have more rights than a civilian of rank 1 and 2.
4. At the upper middle of the hierarchy is the ███████████ members of the ██████████████ who have more rights then rank 1 through 3. May also need ███████ and ███████.
5. The higher civil servants are the highest a civilian can rise within the hierarchy, with very few making it here. Are treated to luxuries that rank 1 and 2 can only dream of and 3 and 4 need to work hard for.
6. The military officers are highest one can rise in the system.
