Election Results November 2771

Independent parties make gains

The Urban Party of Kirlawa, the Orangeists (returning from their recent dormancy), and the Liberal Party are celebrating a successful 2771 campaign, each having gained seats in both the General Assembly and in the Senate.
Each of these three has also won one of Kirlawa's provincial governorships, the other two being retained by the Kirlawan People's Justice Party.

Meanwhile, the formerly independent Strong Republic Party have joined the Free Market Coalition, with current members the Democratic Freedom Movement and the Kirlawan Austrian Party. The rival Leftist Coalition, whose currently active members are the KPJP and the Christian Socialist Movement, are likewise seeking new members to counterbalance this.

Detailed election results are available at
http://classic.particracy.net/viewnews. ... 0&nation=4

Presidency

The UPK and the Liberal Party, instead of running their own candidates this time, gave their support to the KAP's Elizabeth Crowell, boosting her past the CSM's incumbent President Simon Crossley in their third matchup. President Crowell was also endorsed by the DFM and SRP and Orangeists, while former President Crossley was endorsed by the KPJP.

General Assembly

The Orangeists, and to a lesser extent the other independents, gained Assembly seats from the coalition parties, who lost roughly similar shares.
The Liberal Party received over a million more votes than the Orangeists, yet this brought them three fewer Assembly seats; perhaps due to most of the Liberals' votes having come from Dirguzia, a province which had very high turnout this election.

Leftist Coalition 268 (-36): Kirlawan People's Justice Party 192 (-24), Christian Socialist Movement 76 (-12)
Free Market Coalition 261 (+42): Democratic Freedom Movement 115 (-18), Strong Republic Party 83 (nc), Kirlawan Austrian Party 63 (-23)
Independents:
Urban Party of Kirlawa 89 (+14)
Orangeists 51 (+51)
The Liberal Party 48 (+12)

Senate

Each of the independent parties (plus the previously-independent SRP) won a few Senate seats from the coalitions, but overall changes were gradual, and the LC still hold a coalition majority.

LC 53 (-6): KPJP 45 (-5), CSM 8 (-1)
FMC 30 (+3): DFM 16 (-3), SRP 9 (+2), KAP 5 (-3)
Independents:
UPK 10 (+4)
Liberal 4 (+3)
Orangeists 3 (+3)

Provincial Assemblies

Governors
Uwakah: Leyla Doyle (KPJP)
Dirguzia: to be nominated by The Liberal Party
Nuchtmark: Beatrice Greene (KPJP)
Dirlana: Iain Jakobs (Orangeists)
Merkan: Jean-Michael Ovendorf (UPK)

Uwakah

The fuchsia-cerise and Governor Leyla Doyle still hold an almost two-thirds majority in Uwakah's provincial legislature, despite losing some seats to the DFM and SRP.

LC 67 (-10): KPJP 65 (-10), CSM 2 (nc)
FMC 31 (+14): DFM 23 (+7), SRP 7 (+3), KAP 1 (nc)
UPK 2 (nc)

Dirguzia

Oddly, over five million more votes were cast in Dirguzia than in Uwakah, despite Uwakah's larger total population.
KPJP lost seats here mostly to the UPK, and DFM mostly to the SRP and KAP.
The growing Liberals are now the largest single party here and have claimed the governorship.

LC 30 (-11): KPJP 22 (-11), CSM 8 (nc)
FMC 29 (+9): SRP 18 (+8), KAP 6 (+2), DFM 5 (-11)
Liberal 28 (+3)
UPK 13 (+9)

Nuchtmark

Changes here were minor. The KPJP and Governor Beatrice Greene have retained their majority, a few seats of their seats going to the SRP and the Liberals.

LC 73 (-5): KPJP 59 (-5), CSM 14 (nc)
FMC 21 (+6): SRP 8 (+3), DFM 7 (-1), KAP 6 (-1)
Liberal 4 (+3)
UPK 2 (+1)

Dirlana

The Orangeists have returned with a vengeance, jumping all the way to the top and reclaiming the governorship for Iain Jakobs who had held this office decades before, in this conservative province where they had concentrated their campaigning.

FMC 37 (-15): DFM 28 (-10), KAP 9 (-5)
Orangeists 29 (+29)
LC 19 (-13): KPJP 13 (-5), CSM 6 (-8)
UPK 14 (-2)
Liberal 1 (+1)

Merkan

Merkan's recent volatility continues, as the voters have selected the UPK and new Governor Jean-Michael Ovendorf, succeeding the SRP's single term.
The KAP, the largest party here as recently as 2764 and having held the governorship many times before then, have fallen to three seats.
In a weird twist, the KPJP lost seats everywhere else yet gained here, even though this populist, socialist, nationalist party is generally seen as a mismatch for Kirlawa's most libertarian region.

UPK 30 (+16)
LC 29 (+5): KPJP 26 (+8), CSM 3 (-3)
FMC 28 (-2): SRP 14 (-18), DFM 11 (+2), KAP 3 (-18)
Orangeists 13 (+13)

Aldemerman Supports Pontesian Government

Image
Alderman (left) talks with Regnor about foreign issues.

Republic News (RN) [August 28, 2777]: Today, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Tanya Alderman showed her support for the pontesian government and their decision to help Gaduridos become a stable nation. She appeared on the the politcal show National Agenda. The shows host, Eric Regnor, asked questions about numerous international topics including the Pontesian situation. Regnor asked the following question: What are your feelings toward the Pontesian Government and the actions taken by Lodamun, Talmoria, Baltusia and others?

Here is Alderman's response:

"I believe that actions taken by Lodamun, Talmoria, Baltusia and others have been preemptive, if anything. Pontesi has an interest for seeing Gaduridos become a stable nation after corruption and authoritarianism caused the nation to suffer and falter at the hands of the Junta. Now, a few people believe that Pontesi has become some sort of "Puppet Master" and Gaduridos is the "Puppet" as Pontesi is using the nation for its own gain. I can tell you that this acusation among others, are not true.

What is true is that ignorance has begun to run rife across Terra. The nations that have accused pontesi of this crime, have not seen what has happend to Gaduridos since the inception of the government. Grand-Vizier General Jonathan Carrick has done nothing but work around the clock to see a once thriving nation return to the world stage as a leader and not a third-world country.

I ask what makes the following leaders so great and powerful that they must pass judgement of Pontesi? Mr. Kynes of the Lodamun has no room for giving orders and passing judgement as his country is a one-party dictatorship. Mrs. Tappenahomma of Talmoria should remain out of foreign affairs and focus on Talmoria and only that. Her gov't is trying to start a war that they cannot win. And finally, Mr. Mozul of Baltusia is a criminal as he has funded a terrorist organization that seeks to cause anarchy in Gaduridos. If the leaders mention and others cannot/refuse to see what is really going on, then they're blinded by ignorance."

Alderman has come under fire for her support of Pontesi and many have called for her resignation from the post. President Crossley didn't comment on the speech or the accusations against Alderman, but said in his interiew with Matt Baffman that, "There was never any pressure from me to get her to resign and she can only make that decision."

Open letter to Ms Aldemerman, Kirlawa Chronicle and Kirlawa society

As a refugee of Gaduridos I follow closely events in Protectorate. Reason why my family left was my father's position in Gaduridos army. He was Colonel and as such labelled enemy of the protectorate. Our property was confiscated and prison awaited him.
According to Pontesi news channels Pontesi has no interests for seeing Gaduridos as stable nation. Stable Pontesian protectorate, stable Pontesian colony - that is what they speak about. That is what they do. They changed legislation in the nation so that only 2/3 majority can change their occupational government. None of such was the case for "undemocratic" Junta's Gaduridos. None of Junta's leaders was afraid of their people.
Pontesi occupational government did not even try to open a Gaduridos news channel, all information regarding events in Gaduridos are translated through Pontesi news. Both Pontesi ruling party and Protectorate ruling party tells their news through Pontesi news channel. Current leadership of Protectorate speculates about turning Gaduridos into colony of Pontesi. Viceroy was rightly quoted as saying: "Gaduridos has been advanced far beyond the pathetic excuse for a slum which was the result of natives like the PLA being in power. No one is harsher to the native than the native!" which is what it is all about.
Settlement of Gaduri lands in confiscated properties of people continues. Some officials (proudly!) claim in ten years they replaced 15% of Gaduri original population with Pnteks.
Dusty Knights is not the best alternative for the nation. My uncle died fighting Dusty Knights as Junta soldier. But they are local ones. They care about souvereignity of Gaduridos.
I wish leadership of my nation - Kirlawa - understand that bad freedom is better than having a good master. I wish my former nation Gaduridos becomes free!

Sílvio Bailadeira,
Citizen of Kirlawa.

Election Results May 2775

SRP to govern Dirguzia and Merkan; KPJP and Orangeists retain the other three provinces

Kirlawa's 2775 elections were mostly unremarkable, with voters expressing much the same preferences as they had in the past few trips to the polls.
The conservative Orangeists have further strengthened their presence in Dirlana, but a countervailing loss of some support in Merkan has left them in an overall position only slightly better than before.

After a disappointing showing in their fourth election, rumors are prevalent that the Liberal Party, Kirlawa's youngest, might dissolve. If they do, many of their supporters are likely to migrate to the rather similar Urban Party of Kirlawa.

Detailed election results are available at
http://classic.particracy.net/viewnews. ... 6&nation=4

Presidency

Last election, the UPK, Democratic Freedom Movement, Strong Republic Party, Liberal Party, and Orangeists all endorsed the KAP's Elizabeth Crowell, boosting her to victory over the Christian Socialist Movement's then-incumbent President Simon Crossley, who had been endorsed by the Kirlawan People's Justice Party.
The same two candidates ran again in 2775, their fourth meeting, and with the same endorsements except one.
The UPK decided to run their own candidate this time, Robert Freeman, who finished third, instead of endorsing incumbent President Crowell. This key change was just enough to tip the balance, allowing former President Crossley to narrowly surpass her and to reclaim the office that he had held for two terms from 2764 to 2771.

General Assembly

The CSM recouped some of the Assembly seats that they had lost in the last two elections, with the SRP and Orangeists picking up a few as well. Most of these were won from the centrist UPK and Liberals. No party gained more than 24 seats, nor lost more than 21, making for a calm election overall.

Leftist Coalition 291 (+23): Kirlawan People's Justice Party 191 (-1), Christian Socialist Movement 100 (+24)
Free Market Coalition 270 (+9): Democratic Freedom Movement 114 (-1), Strong Republic Party 96 (+13), Kirlawan Austrian Party 60 (-3)
Independents:
Urban Party of Kirlawa 73 (-16)
Orangeists 56 (+5)
The Liberal Party 27 (-21)

Senate

In two very close contests, a CSM incumbent in Dirguzia just barely held off an SRP challenger, and a KAP candidate defeated a UPK Senator in Merkan, each by less than a thousand votes. Overall changes were gradual.

LC 57 (+4): KPJP 44 (-1), CSM 13 (+5)
FMC 32 (+2): DFM 16 (nc), SRP 11 (+2), KAP 5 (nc)
Independents:
UPK 6 (-4)
Orangeists 4 (+1)
Liberal 1 (-3)

Provincial Assemblies

Governors
Uwakah: Leyla Doyle (KPJP)
Dirguzia: to be nominated by the Strong Republic Party
Nuchtmark: Beatrice Greene (KPJP)
Dirlana: Iain Jakobs (Orangeists)
Merkan: to be nominated by the Strong Republic Party

Uwakah

Kirlawa's most eco-socialist province still loves the fuchsia-cerise, having re-elected Governor Leyla Doyle for yet another term and with a larger majority than before.

LC 72 (+5): KPJP 70 (+5), CSM 2 (nc)
FMC 26 (-5): DFM 19 (-4), SRP 6 (-1), KAP 1 (nc)
UPK 2 (nc)

Dirguzia

Just like last election, there were more votes cast in Dirguzia than in Uwakah, despite the latter province's larger total population.
With gains by the SRP (enough to claim the governorship), CSM, and DFM, Dirguzia's provincial legislature is currently well-balanced. Each of the major coalitions holds about two-fifths of the seats, and two centrist independent parties each hold exactly a tenth.

FMC 42 (+13): SRP 28 (+10), DFM 8 (+3), KAP 6 (nc)
LC 38 (+8): KPJP 23 (+1), CSM 15 (+7)
UPK 10 (-3)
Liberal 10 (-18)

Nuchtmark

Barely keeping their single-party majority, the KPJP have lost a few seats to their coalition partners the CSM; as did the KAP to theirs the DFM, for very little real change in this conservative province. Governor Beatrice Greene of the fuchsia-cerise retains her office.

LC 72 (-1): KPJP 51 (-8), CSM 21 (+7)
FMC 23 (+2): DFM 11 (+4), SRP 8 (nc), KAP 4 (-2)
UPK 2 (nc)
Liberal 2 (-2)
Orangeists 1 (+1)

Dirlana

In their home province, the Orangeists and Governor Iain Jakobs have increased their existing plurality, and now have a larger contingent than either of the two coalitions. Some additional seats were also gained by the CSM, a party who are similarly religious and conservative culturally, but with a very different economic outlook.

Orangeists 37 (+8)
LC 30 (+11): KPJP 17 (+4), CSM 13 (+7)
FMC 25 (-12): DFM 17 (-11), KAP 7 (-2), SRP 1 (+1)
UPK 8 (-6)
Liberal 0 (-1)

Merkan

Merkan's political pendulum continues to swing. After having voted the SRP into the governorship in 2768, then out in 2771, the voters have put them back in again in 2775.

FMC 46 (+18): SRP 29 (+15), DFM 11 (nc), KAP 6 (+3)
LC 34 (+5): KPJP 23 (-3), CSM 11 (+8)
UPK 15 (-15)
Orangeists 5 (-8)

Election Results January 2779

Postby Lucca » Mon Jul 06, 2009 3:00 am

We congratulate the people of New Englia on their independence, and offer best wishes to Terra's newest nation.
Also, our thanks to the UPK, for having represented Kirlawa well in the negotiations at the conference.

Election Results January 2779

SRP jump into second, Orangeists into third

Both in Kirlawa and elsewhere across Terra, critical flaws were discovered inside the most commonly-used voting machines, which caused elections to be delayed for a few months so that they could be replaced. Kirlawa's election, originally scheduled for November 2778, took place in January 2779.
(OOC: Particracy mildly malfunctioned  Everything's OK now, but the eight-hour delay has moved our elections from Sunday nights to Monday mornings.)

Once the votes were counted, the generally fiscally conservative Strong Republic Party and Orangeists made considerable gains, whereas ground was lost by both active parties of the Leftist Coalition, the Kirlawan People's Justice Party and the Christian Socialist Movement. The SRP have become the second largest party nationwide, and the Orangeists the third.

As many had predicted, the Liberal Party formally dissolved very soon after their disappointing showing last election. Many of their supporters have joined the rather similar Urban Party of Kirlawa.

In their place, a third Movement has arisen in Kirlawan politics. Alongside the Democratic Freedom Movement and the Christian Socialist Movement, we now also have the Kirlawa Communist Movement. Although too new for the voters to award them any seats nationally or locally ths time, the KCM are actively building their visibility for next election.

Now Kirlawa needs just one more movement and we'll have a symphony. :D

Detailed election results are available at
http://classic.particracy.net/viewnews. ... 3&nation=4

Presidency

Last election, the UPK ran their own candidate for President instead of endorsing Elizabeth Crowell of the Kirlawan Austrian Party, which allowed the CSM's Simon Crossley to surpass her. This time, the UPK returned to endorsing Crowell, and with their support she was able to reclaim the Presidency. Just as before, the DFM, Orangeists, and SRP also endorsed President Crowell; and the KPJP endorsed incumbent President Crossley in this, the fifth matchup between these two candidates. Vladimir Bebatov of the KCM placed third.

General Assembly

Powered by gains by the SRP, and even more so by losses by the KPJP and the CSM, the Free Market Coalition have become the largest faction in Kirlawa's General Assembly. They are widely expected to form a new government with the Orangeists.

Free Market Coalition 280 (+10): Strong Republic Party 117 (+21), Democratic Freedom Movement 103 (-11), Kirlawan Austrian Party 60 (nc)
Leftist Coalition 240 (-51): Kirlawan People's Justice Party 160 (-31), Christian Socialist Movement 80 (-20)
Independents:
Orangeists 105 (+49)
Urban Party of Kirlawa 92 (+19)
Kirlawa Communist Movement 0 (new party)

The Liberal Party disbanded (-27)

Senate

Unlike in the Assembly, the LC still hold the upper hand in Kirlawa's ceremonial upper chamber; but even here, their influence is less than before.

LC 40 (-17): KPJP 32 (-12), CSM 8 (-5)
FMC 35 (+3): SRP 18 (+7), DFM 13 (-3), KAP 4 (-1)
Independents:
UPK 11 (+5)
Orangeists 14 (+10)
KCM 0 (new party)

Liberal disbanded (-1)

Provincial Assemblies

Governors
Uwakah: Leyla Doyle (KPJP)
Dirguzia: to be nominated by the Strong Republic Party
Nuchtmark: Beatrice Greene (KPJP)
Dirlana: Iain Jakobs (Orangeists)
Merkan: William O'Flaherty (KPJP)

Uwakah

Kirlawa's most eco-socialist province still loves the fuchsia-cerise, having re-elected Governor Leyla Doyle for yet another term and with a larger majority than before. And after a KPJP get-out-the-vote effort, Uwakah finally had more total votes cast than the less populous Dirguzia, breaking the anomalous pattern of the last two elections.

LC 75 (+3): KPJP 73 (+3), CSM 2 (nc)
FMC 20 (-6): DFM 17 (-2), KAP 2 (+1), SRP 1 (-5)
Orangeists 2 (+2)
UPK 3 (+1)

Dirguzia

The SRP vastly expanded their plurality in Dirguzia, and now hold over three-fifths of the provincial legislature, taking seats from their coalition partners as well as from the Left, who lost heavily. Although overshadowed by this, the UPK also doubled their previous share by absorbing most of the previous Liberal holding, and have become the second largest party locally.

FMC 66 (+24): SRP 62 (+34), KAP 3 (-3), DFM 1 (-7)
UPK 19 (+9)
LC 11 (-27): KPJP 7 (-16), CSM 4 (-11)
Orangeists 4 (+4)
Liberal disbanded (-10)

Nuchtmark

Big gains were made by the Orangeists, finally breaking through in this conservative province, and by the SRP.
And as in Dirguzia, this was an unhappy night for the Leftist Coalition. They lost the majority, half of their seats, and even their status as the larger coalition here, as the combined delegations of the parties of the Free Market Coalition now outnumber them by one.
The only two bright spots for the Left were the retention of Governor Beatrice Greene since her KPJP is still by a small margin the largest single party, and the victory of a CSM incumbent over a KAP challenger by less than a hundred votes.

FMC 37 (+14): SRP 19 (+11), DFM 12 (+1), KAP 6 (+2)
LC 36 (-36): KPJP 24 (-27), CSM 12 (-9)
Orangeists 22 (+21)
UPK 5 (+3)
Liberal disbanded (-2)

Dirlana

In their home province, the Orangeists and Governor Iain Jakobs have increased their existing plurality, and now are just five seats short of a majority. Most of the Orangeists' increase was at the expense of the KPJP and the CSM.
A slightly larger yet gain was posted by the DFM, who regained all but one of the seats that they had lost in the previous election.

Orangeists 46 (+9)
FMC 33 (+8): DFM 27 (+10), KAP 6 (-1), SRP 0 (-1)
LC 14 (-16): CSM 8 (-5), KPJP 6 (-11)
UPK 7 (-1)

Merkan

Bizarrely, Kirlawa's least libertarian party now govern the most libertarian province. The KPJP have provisionally named William O'Flaherty to be Merkan's new governor. However, recounts have been ordered; especially considering that the KPJP and their coalition partners the CSM lost heavily in Dirguzia and Nuchtmark and Dirlana this election, why did these two very non-libertarian parties fare so well here, displacing the Free Market Coalition?

LC 45 (+11): KPJP 32 (+9), CSM 13 (+2)
FMC 37 (-9): SRP 29 (nc), DFM 6 (-5), KAP 2 (-4)
UPK 14 (-1)
Orangeists 4 (-1)

Election Results January 2881

Kirlawan Unionist Party disbands

With the departure of the KUP, an early election was called, in which all four of Kirlawa's remaining parties gained seats.

DFM Wins Election

The KPJP which was in power for decades has suffered a major defeat in the 3136 elections. The Democratic Freedom Movement won almost 2/3 share of the vote and the Presidency. "A great day for a great nation", the newly elect President, mr.Wertham, said when the results came in. He issued the following statement.

"People of Kirlawa,

It's a great day for all Kirlawans. You have chosen for change of Government and policies. At this very moment my party is forming a Cabinet which will transform our nation according to your wishes. You've made clear to all political parties that you want major reforms. That's the goal for the next Government.

I wish to thank the KPJP and the former President, Brenda Moore , for their effort to rule the nation through difficult times and my party and I myself hope that we can work together for a better and democratic Kirlawa,

Thank you,

President Edwin Ferdinand Wertham ."

The KPJP was not able yet to comment on the election results and statement made by President Werthem.
