Pro-Dictatorship Hosian Democratic Party Founded

Image

NORTHMOOR, CAILLE -- The crowd cheers as El Caudillo (The Leader), Luiz de Nueva, emerges onto the stage surrounded by draping Egelian flags imbued with a red X, the symbol of the old dictatorship of Generalissimo Francisco de Nueva. Luiz de Nueva is a questionable descendant of the Generalissimo, who died several centuries ago. His dictatorship was marked with the mass genocide of religous minorities and forceful acceptance of Hosianism as the religion of the people. Slavery was also infamously reintroduced.

The newest incarnation of the de Nueva ideology is branded as "de Nuevan minarchism", a brand of dictatorship in which there is absolute control of the military and clerics over social affairs but complete economic freedom.

At the rally in Northmoor, the crowd consisted mainly of young college students hoping to grip onto the electric energy of the speaker. As he spoke, Luiz de Nueva slammed the podium, virtually foaming at the mouth, shouting while wearing a military uniform signifying his rank of captain obtained in the national military. "The nation of Egelion is divided -- it will be united under one Caudillo!"

PDHE Gets Down To Work

Image

Demar Solad, Amateria - El Caudillo de PDHE Luiz de Nueva, a narrowly defeated Public Representative candidate and undisputed leader of his party, came up two votes short of a majority government for combined nationalist forces. de Nueva is a member of parliament for Northmoor, Caille.

The party has proposed a series of reforms which would create what they describe as "the true Egelion". These include pro-market reforms, anti-immigrant reforms, and efforts to rid society of "useless people" such as gender nonconforming individuals and the homeless.

"The True Egelion is a society based on Hosian values, on the old testament!" shouted Luiz de Nueva to reporters. "I am the architect of this change! I am El Caudillo!"

VMP Leader:¨We are in a deeply divisive situation¨

Vanguardia Moral Party´s Chairwoman, Caterina Cáceres, has referred to the state of the country during a visit to her constituents in Caille Province.

¨The Parlamento is in deadlock, we have four vacant Cabinet positions, including Defence and Foreign Affairs, and so forth¨, she added. ¨There's a huge obstructionism from the opposition that seeks to remain in power no matter what-- undermining the power that voters have in elections¨, she concluded.

As of now, the VMP has introduced a Cabinet proposal that is in the voting phase, but it seems that it will not get more than half the Parliament's votes to be approved. The said proposition includes the Partido Radical, the Frente de Extrema Derecha and the Partido Hosiano as well as the VMP itself, hoping to get the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

National Competition Office Imposes Record Fine
Broadband providers accused of fixing price and anti-competitive behaviour

5th March 4327

The National Competition Office, the Egelian competition regulator, has announced the imposition of the largest fines since its creation. Three of the country's four largest broadband providers, ETC, Nirvana Communications and TalkNow, are the companies facing sanctions, which total over ₤100 million. Following a long term and well publicised investigation, the NCB announced that they had found the three firms were colluding in order to exploit their position in the market to overcharge consumers and maximise profits. In addition to increasing prices, the three companies were also accused of deceiving customers about the process of switching between providers. All three say they will challenge the decision.

Image
The three companies account for around two-thirds of the broadband provision market

Chairman of the NCO Iker Bergalló commented; "broadband providers have been caught here behaving in a manner is totally unethical and which shows a complete disregard for consumers. The sanctions imposed on the three companies involved are proportional to the scale of the exploitation which we uncovered throughout this investigation, which demonstrated widespread collusion to fix price to benefit corporate interests at the expense of providing a high quality, affordable service for customers. In future, we will continue to monitor closely the activities of these three companies as well as other firms in the market to protect consumer interests".

In their full length report, the NCO desribe how the three companies were able to steadily increase prices over a number of years without risking any market share by doing so in collaboration with one another. The report presented evidence which highlighted the excessive nature of these price rises, with the average cost of providing connection actually falling over the past decade due to a period of deflation. In spite of this, the average price of broadband has rise by 240% within the last two years alone and created a nightmare for households who have seen little growth in wages.

Furthermore, in an attempt to prevent consumers from switching to other providers such as InData, who launched the complaint which precipitated the NCO investigation, the companies presented misleading information about the cost and effort associated with switching between providers. Eustacio Correa, who contacted ETC when the cost of his broadband rose by ₤60, explains "I was told there would be a significant fee to be paid if I decided to switch away from ETC. When I tried to ask them more about why this was, they became very vague and said it was related to the complicated nature of moving to a new provider. It was almost impossible to switch". Anna Albet of the Democratic Constitutionalist Party has called on the government to establish a national helpline for switching.

Tension grows in Yadráz

Image

After the announcement of a referendum for the revocation of the Yadráz autonomy, numerous protests were announced, including a general strike. Reports estimate a total of 400,000 demonstrators, mainly on Puerto Libertad.
The PLD, the CP, and the FIR called to vote against the revocation, claiming that it is the beginning of a new dictatorship. The Prime Minister of Egelion, Gabriel Landolfi, stated that the autonomy of Yadráz is nonsense, and asks for a peaceful solution, which would be given through the ballot box and not on the streets.
Victoria Campos announced that they would give full support against the protesters if the situation gets critical.

PEACE FOR NOW
Image
In Demar Solad during the last two months a state of violence has been generated throughout the city. The FIR-PCPE militias have clashed with those of the PN, causing a serious disorder. According to the metropolitan police and the Republican Guard of Demar Solad, during the last months there have been 400 dead and 560 wounded, in addition to a third of the capital devastated by fires. The interior ministry has needed the help of the autonomous police of Caille and Yadráz to stop the carnage. the communist leader Carlos Torres has been forced to cease fire and peace talks have been organized with the paramilitary groups of the Nationalist party. With the problems increasing in Yadráz and the impending referendum to eliminate its autonomy, the future is uncertain throughout the country.
