Supreme Commander Named

General Josef Farkas, commander of the Ghadrash forces, has been named Supreme Commander of the Egelian Military. General Farkas announced that "while the response of the local troops has been admirable, it has become clear that they alone are not fit for the task of defeating this foe. As such, I have been authorized to mobilize the entirety of our military power to deal with the situation. As we speak, our army, navy and air force are being prepared to launch a full counter-offensive to defeat this communist menace. We must not fool ourselves, even if we retake Caille, the process will not end there. We are strengthening our boarders in case of UKSR agression and all branches are prepared for war. Cailleans stand strong, all of Egelion is behind you"

UKSR Escalates Conflict

Press release from Foreign Minister Sanchez:

The UKSR has taken unprecedented steps in meddling in Egelian sovereignty. Upon reconquest of Nordland and Northmoor, the Egelian army found war maps, war planning and communications, all with official KCCP identification. This is proof that the KCCP is actively attempting to incite rebellion in Egelian with the aims of making a Keris-wide communist state.

Secondly, claims of the Egelian Army killing two Trigunian tourists is completely and utterly false. While the Egelian Army has killed a number of Trigunians recently, all have been deaths related to cooperative attacks between the Caillean rebels and Trigunian soldiers.

Thirdly, Egelion had absolutely no involvement in the attack across form our boarder with Nou Endralon. We welcome the government of Nou Endralon to request an international investigation into the matter. Radar and surveillance clearly shows the attack coming from inside Nou Endralon. Not only is the UKSR essentially declaring war on Egelion, but against its own populace as well!

Egelion moves forward

The first post-war government was elected with a coalition government between the SDLP/ Caillea Vinstri Bandalag and the Christian Socialist People's Party. With the decline of the Egelion Democrats and Power Centrist Parties, the SDLP/CVB and CSPP have again become the two dominant parties in Egelion.

While there has been a history of coaltion building between the two parties, tensions are often high between the two rival parties. Initial offers of a coalition were rejected by SDLP/CVB Chairman Franscico Badaran, but Caillea Vinstri Bandalag President Carl Handricksson pressured Badaran into accepting the CSPP's terms when it became known that in return for cooperation, the CSPP would agree to support the SDLP/CVB's plans to reform the structure of Egelion. The SDLP/CVB were also given the posts of Prime Minister, Internal Affairs, Defense and the Finance Ministeries.

After the Social Democratic and Labor Party merged with the Caillea Vinstri Bandalag (Calliean Left Alliance), the party took a sharp turn towards regionalism and has pushed for greater recognition for Egelion's native people. With the CSPP's cooperation, the SDLP/CVB plans to rename Egelion, update the country's flag to represent its citizens and recognize Caillean, Spanish and Hungarian as official languages as they are the traditional languages of Egelion's provinces of Caille, Amateria (Spanish), Dul Kinea (Spanish), Eder Gira and Ghadrash (both Hungarian).

The SDLP/CVB hope that with these reforms, Egelion can recover from a harsh war and found a new, prosperous era.

Record Sized Cod Caught of Egelion Coast

Caillean fisherman Bjorn Sigardsson is a twelfth generation fisherman from the town of Fjorðadyggð in northern Caille. His hometown, half the size of 100 years ago, is a sign of the rough times faces by Caillean's fishing industry. Last week, however, Bjorn brought some much needed attention to the industry by catching a record seeting cod, weighing nearly 90kg. Cod numbers have shrunk dramatically in recent years, and fish half the size are almost never seen. Bjorn stated that "for many years have I been fishing, but never have I been catching something so big."

The news has made Bjorn into a minor celebrity in the province of Caille. He has made a number of appearances on talk shows and has become the face of the shrinking industry. When asked about his newfound fame, Bjorn simply stated that he hopes to get back to fishing.

Treaty of Fort Bartlet Ratified

In an unprecidented move, Foriegn Minister Matías Olivo announced the ratification of the Treaty of Fort Bartlet, giving the Federal Republic of Egelion the rights to lease the colonial territories of Vanuku in Dovani. When asked about the contradictory nature of a party such as the SDLP/CVB advocating the pocession of colonies, Minister Olivo stated simply "this purchase was made in the name of spreading our social democratic principles to the colonial territories of Dovani."

Minister Olivo went on to say that "after the upcoming election, the SDLP/CVB fully intends to introduce legislation that will strengthen the people and local governments in our leased territories. As per the treaty, Egelion is free to rule these territories as we wish. As such, we fully intend to introduce full home rule to these territories. While we cannot grant these territories full independance, under Egelion's rule, these territories will be have nearly every right enjoyed by soveriegn nations. With any luck, this will set an example for the other nations ruling over Dovani and once and for all will let all people of Terra choose for themselves how to rule."

While the foriegn minister would give no further information on the issue, sources have stated that the party plans to give the colonies the rights to do everything from set trade policy to print its own money. The limitations to the colonies' powers were not specified, but were assumed to be limited by the terms of Egelion's lease.

SDLP/CVB Sweeps Elections, Outlines Colonial Plans

In yet another record breaking electoral victory, the SDLP/CVB won in a stunning election that saw the party capture 97% of the vote. The Free Egelion Party, the only other party so gain seats, was shut out in every province except for Amateria. The FEP, winning a majority as recently as 2887, has been plagued by inactivity in the political arena.

In her first statement as president-elect, Samantha Tilley proudly announced the electoral landslide to a group of party supporters. After announcing victory, Tilley proudly announced Egelion's plans for its controversial move to lease Dovani colonies. She announced that the colonies would be formed into four autonomous entities, with minimal rights resting with Egelion and Vanuku.

In her speech, the president announced that "New Englia has shown the world that Dovani territories are more than capable of ruling themselves. Due to legal constraints, we were unable to give our territories full autonomy. However, unless our holdings have militaristic aims, they are all but legally free to persue their own course and interests. As such, I am appointing Governor-Generals to four regions in the territories. Upon passage of the the bill Organization of Egelion Leased Territories, the Autonomous States of Cho'kun, Midway, Argos and Central Dovani will officially be created. We will allow them to elect their own officials, create their own policies, and open official relations with the international community. We hope that all nations accept these new states and respect their right to determine their own fate."

Egelian Territorial Holdings Hold First Elections

As promised, Egelian territories had their first elections in July of 2907. All Autonomous States held elections for both their legislature and preliminary head of state.

The Autonomous State of Midway, much to the dismay of Egelion proper, passed legislature establishing a monarchy in the region. Foriegn Minister Olivo stated that "honostly we are disappointed with the developments in the Autonomous State of Midway, but this is the one of the many outcomes of self-determination and the government has prepared for this development. While no ruling family has yet been chosen for the monarchy, we have been assured by the two major candidates that Egelian-Midway relations will be strong and secure."

Elections were not so calm in the Autonomous State of Argos. Pre-election violence broke out between the left-wing, nationalist Kii'kut Liberation Alliance and the center-right and pro-Sekowan party, the Reform Union. The KLA, seeing a chance to become the first independant Kli'kut state, tried to forcably seize governmental isntitutions and attack supporters of the RU, who had openly been working with Egelian officials. While the KLA won moderate support in the election, serious consideration of including the party in a coalition threatened to have the RU walk out of parliament. While a coailtion was formed without the Kil'kut Liberation Alliance, both Egelian and Argan officials fear the violence that could ensue from disgrunted KLA members.

Elections in the Autonmous States of Central Dovani and Cho'kun were considered quiet and fair. In the Autonomous State of Central Dovani, the center-left Free Democratic Party won a majority in the territory's legislature, while Cho'kun elections resulted in the victory of two center-right parties: the pro-business Liberal Congress and the socially conservative Rose Alliance

SDLP/CVB Prepares for Massive Electoral Losses

With the resurgance of the United Egelion Party, the reappearnce of the Partido Alessandrista Reformado and the groundswell of support for the Liberal Union, party officials have begun to temper expectations for the upcoming election. Achieving a record 97% vote total in the last elections, party officials have hinted that getting a third of that vote in the upcoming elections would prove to be a great success.

President Tilley, chairwoman of the SDLP/CVB has made no official statement about the upcoming election, but party insiders have secretly predicted that the upcoming election will lead to electoral instability. Due to a long and difficult history with the UEP, and its predecessor the Freedom Party, the SDLP/CVB has stated it will refuse to form any coalition with the party. This leaves limited possibilites for coalitions. Other members are discussing the possibility of refusing any coalition government proposals, as they feel that sitting in opposition will be good for the party.

Egelian Election Results Prove Troublesome

The Partido Alessandrista Reformado, dormant for some 400 years, made a great statement in the latest election as it eeked out a victory in both parliamentarian and presidential elections. Winning in the second round of voting, President Luigi Alessandri unseated Samantha Tilley with 51% of the vote. President Tilley failed to make it to the second round of voting as the United Egelion Party and Liberal Union ran a joint candidate.

Elections for the National Assembly were less definite. The PAR won 185 seats with 37% of the vote. The SDLP/CVB came in second, beating out the LU by a mere 740,000 votes. Both parties recieved 117 seats, however, with the SDLP/CVB winning no provincial elections. The UEP finished with 81 seats. With the SDLP/CVB refusing to work with the United Egelion Party, the only viable coailtion includes all three other parties. The Partido Alessandrista Reformado has prevously been quiet on the topic of coalition, but ideological differences could lead to problems.

SDLP/CVB Regainst Presidency, PAR Maintains Control of Cabinet

Destroying all pre-election predictions, the SDLP/CVB emerged as the largest party in Egelion's National Assembly. The electoral victory, the first by the SDLP/CVB in an election with more than two parties, was credited to the vote splitting between the PAR and refounded Christian Social People's Party. The CSPP made a grand statement, coming in third behind the SDLP/CVB and PAR. The Liberal Union was also hit hard by the refounded party, falling to fifth place.

SDLP/Callea Vinstri Bandalag 25.83% vote 130 seats
Partido Alessandrista Reformado 24.36% vote 119 seats
Christian Social People's Party 19.67% vote 100 seats
United Egelion Party 15.24% vote 77 seats
Liberal Union 14.91% vote 74 seats

A number of cabinet proposals were brought forth, but ultimately a grand coalition between the PAR, CSPP and SDLP/CVB was forged. The PAR was able to maintain control of the offices of the Prime Minister and Finance Ministry. The CSPP walked away with five ministries while the SDLP/CVB got six
