Joint United Egelion Party and Liberal Union Effort Shocks Egelion
The political landscape of Egelion was shaken up again after yet another snap election. As punishment for calling yet another election, voters relegated the SDLP/CVB to third place in the voting as the United Egelion Party/Liberal Union seized the presidency. The joint ticket gained 30% of the vote and winning 32% of the seats. The CSPP and SDLP/CVB, who were scene was the primary proponents of an early election, saw major losses. The SDLP/CVB saw a 5.5% slide from the previous election, the CSPP saw a nearly 7.5% drop. Former president Eydís Aldorsdottir lamented her party's poor performance and hinted that she and her party had overreacted to their previous support. "We still have much to learn in the political realm," she stated, "our power had always come without working with others. We are good junior coalition members, now we must learn how to become the party in power."
While the election was grim for the SDLP/CVB and CSPP, political insiders predict little will change and the current coailtion will stand. With a cabinet completely opposed to the president however, it is unclear if Egelion will finally be able to see political stability and avoid a fourth election in three years.
