Yes, I am a Nationalist
May 4491

President Keyes never did hide it, but yesterday he openly admitted to be a Lodamese Nationalist and to be proud of it.
His party LWA never really mattered that much, but it seems that the party will play the Nationalist card from now on. Let's see how the public will respond to that.

Road to Kalistan
January 3, 4492

In his speech looking forward to the year 4492, President Sol Keyes mentioned a plan of his to take the economy to the next level. He wanted to ameliorate the accessibility of Newport Haven by road and train, eventually expanding the lines of communications to Kalistan: "Both nations would profit of such project. Kalistan would have direct access to our port and Lodamun would have a better communication with Kalistan for import and export. Since an important number of companies moved to the region near Newport Haven, and thus close to the Kalistan border, there is room for such project."
The existing motorway to Kregon would get a new deck and would be led to Rapula. The motorway to the technological center of Newport would, if Kalistan agrees, run through the mountains of Vrassa right to the economical heart of Kalistan. The President also considers the cunstruction of a railwaysystem that would connect Kalistan and Newport Haven.

Smaller but more efficient Navy
January 20, 4492

Defence Minister Fabrizio Dellano has revealed his military plan for the next three years. No big changes, unless the will to reorganize the Navy. By 4500 this transformation should be completed, but that means that the current fleet has to remain active for at least another 6 years.
Not wanting to change to much about the army, Dellano focused on the backbone of Lodamese Defence: the Navy. He feels that the current fleet is way to large and is starting to become a burden on the Defence budget. He wants to modernize the fleet and make some deletions, leaving the Lodamese fleet decimiced, but more efficient. In order to find out what the best path to walk would be, he has ordered for a large scale naval exercise this summer. Meanwhile, he has contracted some firms to commence designing new vessels for the Navy.
"We have got some partners at sea. That is the main view for me. We have our neighbors from Kalistan, with whom we work closely together. Then we have a broad naval strategic cooperation with CNEKK and Istalia. Point is that we should find a way to fit in this cooperation. We should construct our navy in a way that it becomes complementary to our partners'."

Summer Breeze joint military exercise
July 5, 4492

Newport Haven- Today's the kick-off of the international military exercise Summer Breeze, a large combined naval and amphibious exercise amongst troops staying in Lodamun. This morning a large fleet set sail to commence navigational exercises.
The fleet that left this morning consists of cruisers, frigates and destroyers of Lodamun, Repubblica Istaliana and CNEKK. The task force of about 35 ships will stay together untill July 8, when they will be seperated into 5 task groups conducting ASW, ASUW and AAW, as well as gunnery exercices. A couple of aircraft and helicopter carriers will be assisting these task groups.
Meanwhile LodNav will etablish a mined sea area. Starting from July 15, several minehunting operations and leadthrough exercices will take place, since the forces are planned to invade the Province of Rapula in the north and Newport Haven in the east. With support from navy and airforce, several Marines and paratroopers will storm the beaches and ports and will have several objectives to accomplish. The north group would have to 'conquer' Fertig military base, while the group in the east has to reach and occupy the abandoned nuclear weapons site in the mountains in Kregon.
The exercice would last untill the end of the month. A total of 87 ships, 350 aircraft and not less of 68000 personnel (in total) will take part in this exercise.

Summer Breeze aftermath: the end of A/C carriers
August 8, 4492

The reorganization of the navy is slowly getting shape. After the exercise Summer Breeze, Minister of Defence Dellano has announced to scrap the Lodamese aircraftcarriers for being too expensive and not fitting in his new plan.
The 6 remaining aircraft carriers of the Lodamese Navy will be deleted from the register. If any nation feels the need to buy these old but robust carriers, they can make an offer to the Ministry of Defence. The ships from the President-class, R1912 T. James, R1913 D. Casel, R1914 S. Hill, R1915 K. Kneissl, R1916 K. Danicic and R1918 F. Young were built at SSF by MIL Industries from 4460 to 4467. They all had a refit and a midlife update in 4487 and 4488.
The Minister said that these ships would not be replaced, but that Lodamun will focus on escort and auxiliary ships and mine countermeasure vessels.

Bankrupcy of BTU opens opportunities
March 20, 4494

BTU Incorporated, the Andalayan shipping corporation that announced bankrupcy last week, has been discussing the issue with the government. Volcan Srto, the Minister of Infrastructure, has come up with a plan to help the thousands that have lost their job.
"It won't be easy to perform this, but that's about the only thing we can think of at this stage.", the Minister said. "We will offer these people the opportunities to get an education to perform other jobs in their region. The BTU site offers some opportunities. About 60 people will immediately put to work on the site. They will prepare the site for the arrival of the new naval ships, since Newport Haven is becoming a bit crowded. The new ships will be prepared for operational service in the BTU Inc. docks. All ships, except our subs, will have maintenance on that site. Since LEX has bought part of the naval docks, they will operate their vessels from the BTU site. They estimate the job creation to be about 250 to 280. With the construction of additional lines of communication from and to Newport Haven, another 200 jobs are to be created in that area. Obviously, those seeking a job in Norstavan will probably have to move."
The government is working hard on finding a solution for those poor people. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is discussing the matter with foreign firms, and are trying to get those companies as far as helping the government with the creation of additional jobs. President Keyes called the whole situation a challenge rather than a problem.

Carrier deal in the making
April 7, 4494

The 6 aircraftcarriers Lodamun has deleted have been moved to the BTU site, in order to preserve them and perform the necessary maintenance. Insiders say that the Minister of Defence is involved in a contract deal. However it is not clear just yet what this deal is about. Probably this means that the vessels will be sold, but no one could tell us what nation or nations is involved in the discussion. Recently Minister Dellano decided that the aircraftcarriers were to expensive for our navy to operate.

Investments in BTU?
March 4495

It looks like there is a deal in the making with New Endralon/Kizenia concerning the bankrupt BTU Inc.
CNEKK would be willing to invest in the BTU facilities and would have the company make a restart, obviously under their flag. The government is pleased with such a solution, since the investment would create a vast amount of jobs in the area. Volcan Srto, Minister of Infrastructure, added: "Such investment will put the small city back on the map and will do good for the portuary infrastructure as for the domestic infrastructure in the vicinity of the port. We welcome these investors with open arms."
