President looks back, future bright
January 5, 4499

A new year, new plans. With the best wishes for the new year, the President made a reflection on the last year.
"Dear citizens. It is an honour to adress you today. The future for our glorious nation looks bright. Yet, we have encountered some difficulties in the last few years, we managed to solve each and every endeavour. We have had the closing of BTU, with the loss of many jobs. This problem was solved by attracting a foreign investor, which even boosted our economy. The trade figures look positive, both because our international agreements and the success of the Project Newport Haven. We are still planning to expand the lines of communications towards Kalistan, but the Province of Kregon already has been connected to Newport Haven by a brand new railwaysystem."

"In military and defensive issues, we have managed to cut the costs of our enormous military apparatus. The government has cut back on materials by acquiring and maintaining systems in common pool with friendly nations. Our contacts all over Terra have assured us that the position of Lodamun is safe. Some weapon systems were deleted and won't be replaced, since there is no need to do so. Our aircraft carriers have been sold, since we didn't feel the need to continue the naval path we were sailing. Our allies have their own carrier fleet and Lodamun does not feel the need to use carriers as means to attack another nation. Peace is what we seek. Therefore, the Ministry of Defence has decided to invest in our rich naval history and expand the escorting and auxiliairy capacibilities. Because of our economical position and the strategic placement of our harbours, we have decided to invest in naval mine countermeasures, with a fleet of new mine warfarevessels being ordered by MIL industries. Our lines of communications should remain open at all times. Since we managed to get permission to produce and store 'dirty' weaponry, the Minister of Defence and I are focusing on the implementation of these strategic valuable defence weapon systems. Again, peace is what we seek, but we will not have another nation dictate us what to do. Lodamun should be able to defend itself against any form of agression against our nation."

"We should think about an organisation that defends the rights of our global region. This would bring us prosperity, this would bring us enduring peace and it would give us the opportunity to minimalize certain expenses. The task for the Presidium will be this: find out which organisations seem fit for Lodamun to participate. We talk about a North-Seleyan union, an organisation that unites nations bordering the Anantonese Ocean or even other organisations might be possible. Will we focus on economy? What about Defence? Maybe a technological or scientific union might be the answer. Who knows?"

Presidential candidate Mortelé speaks
January 3, 4502

Frank Mortelé, LWA chairman and candidate for the upcoming Presidentials, has shared some ideas for his views for the future of Lodamun.

"As a growing and wealthy nation, we must look at our allies and friendly nations for binational support, which works in both ways. As a nation we want a peaceful and safe environment for Lodamun, and thus the Ministry of Defence has decided to change the course we were sailing. We will get rid of our submarine forces, since we do not feel any necessity to maintain this expensive weapon. We have decided to postpone the replacement of MCM-forces and will cut back even more on our airforce. That will be necessary, since we have planned an order of new state of the art Kutohaderia replenishment vessels. This will give us the opportunity to extend our auxiliairy role during naval manoeuvers, which will benefit any of our allies. It also gives us a powerful tool to send humanitarian help in case of disaster in no matter what part of Terra. The total cost of the acquisition is high, but we have reached a consensus for a massive loan that covers 80% of the cost, spread over a period of 15 to 30 years. If all goes according to plan, we will not have to cut in other departments."
"We have some good news from our economic industry. C-Power is planning to step into a project, together with the CNEKK-based Teslar, into a new international project that would possibly be given the name WindyCity. This project would have to take green energy to the next level."
"The logistic gateway towards Kalistan is offering us new objectives as well, and there are other plans that we might work out with the Kalistani. Our future looks bright again."
"Again, we might encounter some difficult years, with some major investments that need to be funded, but these investments are necessary to maintain our name and fame in Terra."

Mortelé looks for majority
February 4502

The return of LDA has caused a political landslide in Lodamun. The current coalition has lost its majority. The newly elected President Frank Mortelé now has the task to form a new coalition.
Results were not all that surprising for LWA, since the party's board knew of the popularity of LDA. What was surprising though was the massive loss in seats of coalition partner SDP. They lost about 2/3 of their seats, causing the purple coalition to loose its majority in Presidium. The only positive thing about the most recent elections is that Frank Mortelé has received sufficient support from the public to succeed former President Keyes.
"We still have over one third of the seats in Presidium, thus we believe the public agrees with our plans for the future. LWA will try to push through some of those changes during this legislation. But first we need to find a solid coalition to assure the good working of this Presidium and this government." Mortelé said.

Ruhi party expelled! Early elections in Lodamun
August 2, 4504

President Frank Mortelé has expelled the ruhi party from Presidium. At the same time, SDP was disbanded, though not by the President nor the government. Because of this, the nation should have early elections, says LDA.

President Mortelé explained his choice: "I never trusted the Ruhi, and I never wanted them anywhere near me, but the way they handled the high school shooting in Norstavan convinced me of their total lack of vision, leadership and honesty. The Governor of Norstavan, which was appointed by that very own party, never gave the impression he knew what the situation was. When asked by myself what exactly happened, he didn't have the slightest idea of the situation."
This could not possibly be the sole reason for expelling a party from Presidium. The President didn't want to give too much detail, but he added: "The Ruhi party isn't what they want us to believe it is. They are undermining this nation. They should be shot at once. If you'll pardon me, I have an electoral program to run. LWA would like to stay in Presidium."

Kutohaderia class in active service
August 3, 4508

President Mortelé was present at a large military service in the naval port of Newport Haven, where the first of eleven Kutohaderia-class support vessels were presented to the public and the gathered press. In the following years, the other ships would be delivered.

"These vessels will provide Lodamun an important role in a peaceful and prosperous Terra. These vessels will indeed be implemented in humanitarian missions, as well as support missions. These vessels can supply any naval vessel in Terra, and their endurance is, for our standards, unseen. I have been given the honour to now announce the names of the two first operational vessels, that will represent our nation all over the seas and in every corner of Terra: LNS Ellington and LNS Providence, I wish you the best of luck. Fair winds and following seas!"
The Ministry of Defence provided us with the list of names for the entire class:
A1950 - LNS Ellington
A1951 - LNS Providence
A1952 - LNS Butterman-Fertig
A1953 - LNS Daro Valley
A1954 - LNS Daro Lake
A1955 - LNS Andalwood
A1956 - LNS West Andalay
A1957 - LNS Lindar Heights
A1958 - LNS North Vrassa
A1959 - LNS Westwood Park
A1960 - LNS Newport

Ellington and Providence will be implemented in the West Overseas Flottilla, which operates from our base in Istalia. There will be at least one of these vessels in Istalian waters at all times. The other vessels will be placed 2 each in the first and second naval fleet. The rest will be put in reserve and will fill up the gaps when necessary.

Minister of Defence Dellano was very pleased: "While I realize that the cost of these vessels was and still is immense, this will have an enormous cash return for our nation. These vessels is what we needed."

Moore acting President
March 15, 4512

Jonathan Moore, Aide-de-Camp of President Mortelé, presided the Presidium on behalf of the President yesterday. He will take the place as chairman of the Presidium for a while, since the President will have to stay in hospital for a while.

News came to us that the day before yesterday, President Frank Mortelé was in a serious accident. On the route home late at night, he hit a concrete block with his car. His car was wrecked beyond recognition, but the President suffered but reasonable injuries. He was taken to hospital, where his condition was well evaluated. Apparently, President Mortelé is in good health, but he does have a serious and complicated fracture at both of his feet.
Doctors say it might take months to recover, but Mr. Moore has assured the Members of Presidium that the President is constantly following every move of the Presidium at the hospital. For the time of his public absence, Jonathan Moore has received the honour to serve as acting President of some sort.

Mortelé back in the saddle, better than ever
April 3, 4515

Frank Mortelé is back as President of the Republic, and he has achieved to ameliorate his score in the Presidentials. His party LWA also witnessed a historical result during these elections.

"My absence during my recovery after the accident apparently didn't influence politics too much. Or I must say that my replacement has done a wonderfull job. Anyways, this result reflects the way LWA handled the economic malaise we witnessed for decades now. Even though there were some hard and difficult times for Lodamun, the way we acted
prevented the worst imagineable scenario. LWA has given it all for the people of Lodamun and for Lodamun itself. It seems the people have shown again their gratitude. But we can't stand one thing: even though we share the same number of seats, we didn't manage to be the largest party in the Province of Golavia. Let that be our next objective. Together we will make Lodamun a large economic power."
