The sudden death of Jakeem Goldberg shocks the Nation

Jakeem Goldberg at the age of 100

Shadow Minister of Finance and long time member of Lodamese Movement for Women's Rights has been found dead in his apartment at the age of 103. Doctors suspect heart failure as the cause.

Jakeem Goldberg was a co-founder of Lodamese Movement for Women's Rights and an active member since the age of 30. He’s best known as the long-time Lodamese Minister and is both famous and infamous, both nationally and internationally for his various radical but effective economic reforms that made Lodamun the country that it is today.

As Jakeem Goldberg was one of the leading voices and ideological motors behind the Lodamese Movement for Women's Rights, the fate and future of his party hangs in balance. For the last few decades it’s been rumored that a group of oligarchs have taken over the control of the famous Lodamese feminist party and it’s probable that at least the near future of the LMfWR will be shaped by their views and decisions.

New members with shady background in LMfWR

Lodamese Movement for Women's Rights has elected Anton Serhijovych Bojchuk as their new party leader. After Anton Bojchuk was sworn into his position, he agreed to give party membership and high ranking positions inside LMfWR to his long time associates and friends: Kazimir Yegorovich Barkov, Alexander Alexandrovich Alexandrov and Viktor Valentinovich Zakrevsky.

Anton Bojchuk is known for his small monopolies throughout the nation. He has been accused of money laundering, corruption and blackmail, but according to court the evidence are not strong enough so no actual conviction has been made. Also Mr. Bojchuk's source of wealth is rather shady and no official records of his first billions exist.

Millionaires Kazimir Barkov and Alexander Alexandrov are Mr. Bojchuk's childhood friends and business partners. Both have been accused of organised crime, but no solid evidence exist according to court. Also Viktor Zakrevsky has suspicious background, according to rumours he has earned his millions through illegal arms trading and export, which is criminal offence in Lodamun. However, the court won't start investigation because of lack of public interest.

It is unclear what will happen in the future with LMfWR, but Jakeem Goldberg's death has changed a lot.

Lodamun hangs in the balance as Peoples' Deputies block new Prince-President but fail to carry out a coup
Grönewald-on-Lindar,
28th of November, 4720

Princely governance was traditionally a mix of half-absolutist Princely paternalism (especially in judicial affairs) and co-option of assorted Lodamese parliamentary political movements rising and falling throughout the years. Dismas I, however, differed from many of his predecessors and, as befitted his incoherently amiable character, came to the throne wanting to be loved. This pathetic passion survived even the first signs of the grim and slow fall of the Princely system in the later half of his reign when the fallen collaborationist forces gave way to venomously anti-Princely Chamber of Peoples Deputies. During the early parts of his reign, back when he still had any room for decisive maneuvering he had gotten rid of those ministers identified with the muscular para-absolutism of his predecessors and replaced them with reformers who would somehow conjure up changes that might be both politically moderate and fiscally copious. And then, after decades of failures, he died in the late summer of 4719.

His Serene Augustness the Uncrowned President, Demetrius I

Now, with the Prince-Presidential judicial justice system having been in tatters for almost two decades and the parliamentary elite moving fast to restore a century-old system (having already failed once in such attempt only a few months ago), the hardline supporters of the Princely regime and family have decided to, en masse, retreat into the loyal regions in mountainous and harsh Transkregonia under the new primary claimant to the throne, Chief of Cisdraconian Badlands and the patriarch of a reactionary cadet branch of the dynasty named Demetrius I, who has vowed to return to capital „with fire and sword, if necessary“. A considerable, mostly Kregon-born chunk of Lodamese brass has decided to desert and join him, keeping alive the the spirit of „legendary underground years“. Of those against the regime change, two groups have been especially notable: the old, especially Southern aristocracy who enjoyed large benefits under the various Prince-Presidents and followers of assorted pagan religions who have always seen the EAPP regime „as their own“. It very much seemed that, if nothing else, the Princely dynasty, for all their faults, took care of Kregon and now Kregon or parts of it might very well now take care of them.

For better or worse, it now seems that at least some parts of Lodamun are not willing to budge on the matter, calling for the „restoration of democracy and Princely rule“ and it seems that a somewhat popular „democratic resistance movement“ is raising its gloomy head.

Green Progressive Party is reinstated after two decades of absence
Party vows to continue its mission following a self-imposed exile
December 17, 4721

After two decades of an unexplained absence, the Green Progressive Party of Lodamun is making a comeback in Lodamese Politics. The new party leader Nadine Moray states that the party is returning after what she described as a self-imposed exile to escape from attempts on their life by the ruling Dauxite Regime. She says that much of the party members back in August of 4701 were silenced by the regime and the few party officials that were able to escape went into exile until they felt it safe to return. Moray vows that the party is now back and ready to continue its mission toward a more progressive and democratic Lodamun.

GPP-PLUP Coalition Cabinet Passed
Coalition holding very narrow majority of the Council of Peoples' Deputies forms government
April 4, 4723

The Green Progressive Party has entered coalition with the Pro Lodamese Unitarian Party and passed a Cabinet Proposal to form a new government. This could be the start of ushering in a new era for Lodamun away from the regressive policies of the Prince-Presidency and toward the formation of a new Great Democratic Republic. The actual reforming of the nation might have to wait though as there doesn't appear to be enough pro-4GDR support in the Council to amend the nation's constitution. Even so, it is expected that this term will see a push of policies to continue undoing the damage the Dauxite Regime's near-century of rule has done and progress more toward a more free and democratic Lodamun.

Lodamun Council passes major legislation to restore nation's education and transportation
Bills to bring back private cars and reform education system pass nation's legislature
December 5, 4726

The Council of Peoples' Deputies has passed some bills this month, two of which are major reforms in of themselves.

The Ambitious Education Reform Act will allow the federal government to offer much better access to education across the board, giving the government the authority to maintain a system of public schools, nurseries/pre-K, and higher education facilities, as well as regulating private institutions of such to ensure they offer adequate educational opportunites and skills/info. This comes as a radical shift from the policy that's been in place for decades to near a century by the previous regime, a policy that saw little to no education funding and leaving education to the local pro-Dauxite governments to dismantle such systems. The GPP's plan is to restore the literacy rate in Lodamun to the levels before the Dauxite Regime took over and ensure the people of Lodamun get an adequate education.

The Private Vehicle Restoration Act seeks to the lift of a ban on private vehicles and allowing only such that use environmentally-friendly fuels. Unlike many other nations, the position of private vehicles is somewhat of a major issue in Lodamun. Banning such was maintained by the Dauxite Regime as one of their cornerstone environmentalist policies and encouraged bicycle-riding instead. This is such an extreme measure that received such ridicule of the international world and from those within Lodamun alike. The GPP, despite being environmentalist, were heavily against this ban. They see the policy as incredibly regressive and took too extreme an approach to environmentalism. The nation hasn't seen private vehicles legal in a long time; it was a little over a century since the ban was first enacted in 4625 and decades since a brief time of the ban being lifted between 4684 and 4692.

Vroghin takes power, Forsthaus resigns
PNG Secretary General forced to resign

While preparing his 20th anniversary as Secretary General of PNG, Rodrik Forsthaus has been challenged by the rather unknown Logan Vroghin, and lost a swift election for his position 52% to 48%.

Vroghin challenged the Secretary General with the promise to put PNG in Cabinet again. Forsthaus mentioned that he would never give up his principles and that PNG would get back in power within the next legislation. It seems that Vroghin has made a deal with DRM, a party that wishes to restore the Princely Republic as it was. He persuaded more than half of the voters. Forsthaus immediately resigned and stated that 'a huge mistake was made by the board of PNG'.
