VALRUZIA PUTS FORWARD THE MULTINATIONAL CORPS PROPOSAL
Nowogard, April 4381

NOWOGARD - It seems like Nowogard not willing to give up the momentum it gained with Minister's Izabela Vinciguerra bold response to the Hutorian military threats made against Aldegar, now sees it as a perfect opportunity to implement some measures strengthening the Seleyan Union. In a stepped-up process, the Valruzian Ministry for Foreign Affairs has prepared the Convention on the Multinational Corps - Seleya North which would be responsible for protecting the Seleyan Union. Apparently, Valruzia and Lodamun have already come up to an agreement and Lodamun was the first to announce its participation in the project. Basically, what Nowogard is trying to do is to fully implement the Article 7 of the Treaty on Seleyan Union, which says that the Member States will set up a defense force to protect the Union as a whole, to life. With more and more threats to the Seleyan Union, Nowogard wants to establish a collective defense unit which will be able to quickly respond to any threats against Seleyan Union, as well act as a deterrent for its hostiles. Analysts say that the formation will enable the Seleyan Union to influence countries like Likatonia and Saridan which in recent years turned hostile towards the Union. The MC-SN will especially give the Seleyan Union a way to at least try to influence the authorities in Saridan which in recent months have decided to turn Saridan into a rouge-like state with slavery and slave-trade legalized. With numerous reports from Council of Seleya and Gloria Iustitia calling for a quick response to the situation in Saridan, which according to Gloria Iustitia has become the most oppressive state in Seleya, and successively denies Gloria Iustitia and Council of Seleya observers the right to monitor the situation in the country, it is certain that the upcoming months will be deciding whether the Member States will take a larger responsibility on their shoulders.

According to sources connected with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the joint committee of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Ministry of National Defense has agreed to put Hel as the proposed headquarters for the new organization (under the jurisdiction of the Seleyan Union). Multinational Corps of the Seleyan Union would be responsible for monitoring the international situation and be tasked with rapid response to threats made against the Seleyan Union, as well taking part in different international operations. Vinciguerra believes that the recent crisis between Aldegar and Hutori will push other Members of the Seleyan Union to take part in the process and that Seleyan Union will be finally able to effectively defend itself from external threats. As for the numbers, it is not certain how many soldiers and what sort of equipment will be assigned to the Multinational Corps - Seleya North, but it is certain that it will include all three basic branches of the military force: land forces, air force, and the navy. According to sources connected with MOND, Valruzia is ready to assign as much as 8 thousand soldiers to permanent duty within the Corps. Valruzia puts its hopes to increased cooperation with its neighbors, its largest economic partner - the State of Baltusia, Democratic Republic of Lodamun, Federal Union of Gaduridos and the Democratic Republic of Tukarali. Despite the initial plan to only include Valruzia, Lodamun, Baltusia, and Gaduridos in the Corps, Nowogard has decided that more broad solution is necessary and has decided to invite other states mainly Aldegar and Tukarali.

Professor Walewski warns for future
October 2, 4386

For a mere 20 years NGPoL has achieved to maintain a majority in Presidium, despite the efforts of the other parties in Lodamun. Seems the citizens have confidence in the reigning party. Yet, at least one citizen disagrees. A professor from the National University Lindar Heights has been warning the people of Lodamun, as well as the politicians for the hard times to come.

"I have been watching and studying the political history of the last century the last few months. While collecting data, I noticed that a lot changed during the last two decades." Professor Walewski says: "When a colleague of mine was comparing the data with the economical evolution within our nation, it stunned me how much actually changed during the period NGPoL is leading the nation. And for what it's worth: this will be getting out of hand pretty soon."
Walewski found out that, eventhough the economy was blooming at that time, NGPoL managed to improve the economical figures during the first term in office. The Professor states this is a direct and shortterm effect of the geopolitical reaction to national changes in Lodamun.
"For years all went well in Lodamun, and the future was promising. You can't blame the citizens for supporting the ruling party. Things were better than they'd ever been during the last century. One should note that this was because of the combined effort of both LNC and NGPoL, both in their own way. Also, signing the Alboro Agreement made sure the economy bloomed to almost unknown heights. Unfortunately, that same agreement started the decline of our nation."
The Professor states that because of this agreement, too many things changed too soon. In his opinion, the people of Lodamun were not ready for such a swift change, and neither did the Lodamese economical system.
"The opening of the borders had a direct effect of investors making a rush on the Lodamese renewed market. Luckily the electorate realized there had to be some regulations to protect national investments, and that was about the only political issue LNC and NGPoL agreed on. But too little measures were taken. When the Presidium, or at least the ruling party, decided to even open the borders more and giving slack on the regulations concerning citizenship and rights of foreigners, all was lost. In 4380, LNC realized something had to be done. They demanded the withdrawal from the Alboro Agreement, but they didn't get enough support in Presidium. To make matters worse, legislators decided to band themselves even more while signing a treaty to support a Multinational Military Corps. This will be the drop."
Walewski hopes legislators will react to avoid an economical disaster, or worse.

Walewski cautious about changes
February 4, 4389

With President Johnson in office the reign of NGPoL has finally come to an end. This is what Professor Walewski called for, but he remains cautious about the future. The coalition of LNC and FPL might be the start of a new era, but it might end catastrophically.
"We know LNC has unsuccessfully tried to take over from NGPoL for a mere 20 years and now they finally did. With the help of the young FPL anyway. And that should be a good thing. The threats I was warning about are most certainly to be undone in the nearby future. But I hope this cooperation will not end in an exageration of measures." Professor Walewski says he knew this was going to happen, but that he underestimated the result and the role of the Fascist Party. He says that even LNC must have thought about this twice: "LNC tried to offer NGPoL a place in a partywide coalition under control of President Mideen, which they refused. Reason was that NGPoL refused to work together with the Fascists. In my opinion NGPoL makes a huge statement here, but they have lost any feeling with the Cabinet doing so. They can now only hope that the electorate will remember that during next elections."
LNC could have worked together with NGPoL, who still is the largest fraction, but maybe, making their point, they chose not to get in coalition with a party they critisized for so long. The only valid option for LNC was FPL: "LNC and FPL share several points of interest, but then again there are some significant differences. I hope these differences will matter for the best."

Loremie Michiels, LNC Representative, also commented the choice of her party: "We gave it a long thought, and we decided a coalition with FPL is the best for our program as well as for the sake of Lodamun. I understand the fear of some, but there is no need to. We know that President Johnson and his fellow politicians will do a good job. They will grow in their functions during the process and both of our parties can promise that we will constructively add to the wealth and wellbeing in our glorious nation."

Gorky takes over from Michiels
January 4393

Loremie Michiels has chosen to resign as Representative of her party. Members elected Andreij Gorky as her successor.
"We were unlucky!", Gorky said. "Loremie has worked very hard for the party and we should thank her for that. She did a great job during the twenty years our party was in opposition, and then managed to get us back in Cabinet. Again, luck was not on our side and we bounced back to the opposition after just one term."
Andreij Gorky, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and former Governor, was very clear on his vision for the future: "We are a family, we are a party for the families. We would like to get rid of useless and injust laws. LNC will make sure our economy gets another boost. My plan on international matters is clear and simple. We should resign from any treaty or agreement that limits our sovereignity and our power and we should tighten our relations with our neighbouring nations. It is my goal to get us back in office after the next elections, after which we can start planning new treaties with other nations. Treaties that will not limit our powers and that will create a win-win situation for all nations involved."

Victory of absence
May 5, 4397

Nobody in Lodamun saw it coming. Just months after the elections, the second party in Presidium decided to leave this federal institution. Legislation says that in such case one should arrange new elections. And these elections resulted in a 3 to 4 in favor of NGPoL. Andreij Gorky chose not to comment the elections right away, but after studying the result, he wishes to speak about the subject.

"The party I represent is bleeding in a way. This result hurts us, this is not what we expected and certainly not what we deserve. But I had a closer look at the result, and now I understand what went wrong and were it did.", Gorky says.
"This is not the first time that early elections were arranged shortly after the last elections, but this time the gap was really narrow. If we look at the turnup of the voters, which barely reached one third of the electorate, we should wonder if people aren't getting tired of this. A second reason could be that our citizens are in a state of numbness. They have witnessed almost a generation of NGPoL in office, with just one short term of NGPoL being forced in opposition. Then again, the time my party was in office could scarcely be called a success, which I am fully aware of. The citizens have known an age of relative peace and prosperity, and believe that this is thanks to NGPoL and that this will last. Both opinions are wrong. It is true that NGPoL has an important share in the state that we are currently in, but one should not forget the efforts of the other parties represented in Presidium. We even believe that things could be done better than they currently are, but I'll leave that up to the citizens to decide. Also, the peace and quite will not last. All parties that are currently in Presidium wish to keep things this way, and they are working hard to improve international relations to prevent any kind of conflict in the future. But it is foolish to believe that we will not get involved in conflict in the future, even in the most profound manner. There will occur tensions, there will be conflict and there will be battle. Any way we turn it, we will get involved sooner or later."
Gorky has a message for the citizens of Lodamun: "Be aware of what might lay ahead, and remeber that next time you are being asked to vote. This was a victory of absence. I'm shocked that only one in three thought it necessary to cast their vote. My party accepts this result, but it would be much easier and more fair if you would all get out to vote and use that right. It is you, the voter, that makes the future of our glorious nation!"

What about violence?
July 6, 4398

There's something going on in this nation, and it is not a good thing. LNC Representative Andreij Gorky was injured yesterday when his car exploded. Luckily, he was not in the direct vicinity of the vehicule and only suffers minor injuries. Police have declared that the explosion was in no case an accident and that a bomb most certainly must have been planted there.

A spokesman of the police declared the following:
"Mr. Gorky left home yesterday morning at about quarter to six AM, heading for his car to travel from his home in Metropolitan District to his office in Port Golavia. In his rush he forgot his briefcase at the kitchen table, which he realized while opening the door of his car. He turned back and headed to his house's front door but got struck by the explosion before he reached the end of the driveway. He got hit by some shrapnel and was taken to hospital. His condition is stable and he will not suffer from permanent injury. The police have started an investigation and have come to the conclusion that the explosion was caused by artificial means. We will communicate as soon as we find out more about this."
Andreij Gorky has left the hospital and resides with his brother for a few days to recover. His brother Mikojan declared to be shocked and said that he does not understand what might have driven one to perform such an act of violence.

Anonymous:'Give up on Nationalism'
September 1, 4398

The Representative and the spokesman of the Nationalist LNC have given a pressconference at the LNC HQ at Port Golavia earlier today. This pressconference concerned threats the party has received over the last few weeks. Mr. Andreij Gorky wished to clarify this.

"Since the last week of July, we are receiving inpolite letters at our headquarters, some of which adressed to 'the nationalist pigs', others to 'the scum of Terra'. At first, these letters were nothing more than insults and hollow threats, but the last ten days the letters became more threatening. We believe there might even be a danger for the safety of our staff.", spokesman Jon Elderland said: "We have contacted the police and they consider the threat to be real. To show how afraid we actually are, we make this statement."
Representative Gorky claims: "In the letters we are being asked to give up on our ideals, to get rid of our Nationalist feelings and way of life. Read our name! It has the word 'Nationalist' in it. It is that obvious that even a Hosian could understand it. We cannot and will not step aside and we will never betray our Nationalist sentiments. If anyone out there doesn't feel comfortable with what we are and what we stand for, please come over to our HQ and we can have a chatabout it. But quit messing around with my beloved party and its members."
Gorky stated that the emerging of new parties, apparently because of the public being tired of the eternal two-party struggle, has given a voice to a lot of people: "And some dumbo's now dare to express themselves, anonimously ofcourse, in such way. If the person responsible for these letters believes Nationalism is dead, he might reconsider after the elections."

Last straight line to elections: "I retire from politics"
February 6, 4400

LNC is in shock. In full preparation for the 4401 elections, their Representative made a declaration that he is ressigning from politics. He didn't give a reason, but he mentioned his welfare and that of his family.

Andreij Gorky quits. No one knows why, and he asked not to make any comments on that.
Some members of the party believe that he could be ill, others mean that he wants to leave the task to a younger person. That way LNC wouldn't loose to many votes to the new, young parties that are postulating for seats in the Presidium. But no one knows for sure.
LNC members will be able to choose a new Representative next month.

Devis elected Representative
March 8, 4400

LNC members have elected a new Representative. There were two candidates and the elections was a close call.
Silke Devis, who served a term as Minister of Education and Culture and who was leading the Bureau for Education within the party managed to get 50,8% of the votes, while Christopher Wolts, spokesman of the party, only got 49%. Since the difference was this small, Devis needed to be accpeted by at least 75% of the members. She got a 87%.
Wolts remains spokesman and will also serve as Secretary-General, a function created by Gorky a few weeks ago.

President Mideen Announces Embargo on Saridan
President says Lodamun will join international embargo on Saridan as long as their despicable laws are in effect
June 23, 4400

The President of Lodamun, Elizabeth Mideen, spoke today: "It's been 133 years since the then-President of Lodamun Joseph Mideen denounced segregation and slavery, and promised a severance of ties toward nations that allowed it. It would appear his promises are being tested in this day and age. It's been brought to our attention that the Republic of Saridan has enacted despicable laws against their minority population, including such laws that legalize segregation and slavery.

This cannot stand. Just a severance isn't enough; as President of Lodamun, I'm going to have Lodamun join the international embargo on Saridan until such policies are reversed."

A few treaties have been brought to the attention of the Foreign Ministry on this topic, two of which have been presented to the Presidium this month: One to denounce Saridan and re-affirm Lodamun's commitment against segregationist laws, and the other of the embargo. These are both expected to pass through the legislature by February of next year.
