Socialist government formed, major economic reforms to boost the economyLibertarian Communist Party of Lodamun wins electionsThe tensions resulted between the sharp divide between the LCP and the PNG grew over time as the PNG showed itself very radical, uniting the whole left and other religious groups against the ruling party. This had caused strife and protests against the reforms proposed by the nationalists, who had lost the majority following the new elections set in april 4777, when the moderate left, plus some centrists and right wingers, alongside religious groups and organizations, alongside most of the minorities located in Lodamun favored the LCP, seeing it as more "moderate" in it's proposals than the PNG, who had showed itself as "radical" and toxic for Lodamun, oppressing minorities, planning to spark another civil war and to install a monarchist oppressive regime. Furthermore, they had rejected a lot of the time series of reforms into judicial to expand democracy and stand against several workers' democratic bills to enhance the lives of our workers. These, combined with inactivity and incompetence gave in for a easy win for the LCP, who had garnered a majority in Presidium.
The win came with immediate action from LCP, who had took control of the Cabinet and started planning series of reforms to rebuild Lodamun and improve the lives of the common people. Some of the laws included secularization of the society, prohibition of discrimination based on gender, race, religion and sexuality, alongside abolition of restrictive authoritarian laws through judicial and military aimed bills and reforms. The LCP had expressed their will for a better society overall and announced that this is just the beginning of a new Lodamun. The party is proposing to socialize further the economy and put the factories in the hands of the workers with the help of the state, who would ensure that the transfer is happening and that these new factories stay strong against foreign capitalist companies waiting to stomp upon local economy and production. The LCP is discussing possible tax and budget reforms to improve the nation as well.
The reforms though did not came without criticism and speculations. Many now fear of possible socialist coup, whispering that now the socialists in power they can ensure that they will win forever through tricks. Others are criticizing how the LCP betrayed own large voting base through anti-Hosian reforms. The LCP, after them, promised that the Hosians and religions in general wont be persecuted, which was proposed under the new bill, though the discontented political commentators and religious leaders pointed out that under the new reform the ministry of religion will be deprived of an income, as well religion will be greatly restricted from government and official buildings with bans on all symbols, clothing and values that are religious and found out in public buildings. While the left is celebrating this, many see this as a gateway to oppression of religious communities the LCP promised to defend, with speculation over an anti-paganist persecution and further proofs from the bill itself that the Lodamese nationalist religion will be banned. The LCP stated that "These reforms are aiming to get us closer in peace and abolish religious influence and favoritism found in the governmental buildings, there is nothing bad about this, furthermore, the religious ban on some groups is justified as these groups were confirmed to be violent against other religions and carry fundamentalist agendas.".
Civil War in Lodamun to not happen? It's more than clear it wont happen for the incoming years, specialists in the domain say. The media had succeeded to disclose talks between LCP and PNG from which the conflict ended with a handshake, and despite the turmoil brought up by the protests and series of injuries addressed to PNG, the antagonism between the sides was temporarily solved diplomatically, ending with the government of Lodamun ceasing military preparations for invading the Communes, retracting statements and stopping their own reforms out of fear of a civil war breaking out. The protests dissipated after the LCP won, ensuring enough votes to secure position in the government and dominance in the Presidium, which in exchange, promised workers better conditions and wages, as well further social and political reforms to establish a socialist democratic system, subsidizing the local worker councils and committees as well preparing projects to modernize Lodamun in all directions.
Thus the civil war will not happen anytime soon, as LCP reassured the international press today, declaring that "There is no real threat of civil war and that people are safe to travel in Lodamun. The nation is safer and stable as never before."
Despite the speech, some people still fear of civil strife and armed conflicts to pop out in Lodamun, claiming that the left-wing government is playing with fire with the new reforms, as well the radicalization of the working class which almost plunged the economy of Lodamun into anarchy again, making aggressive, revolutionary like movements and actions, from which the foreign investors can only expect expropriation, destruction of goods and political instability. The socialist government had taken measures to stabilize the nation and ensure that no foreign companies or investors will be harassed or deprived of their own capital, as well ensuring that all investments will be worth it and that no civil war will ruin the political stable background of the fledgling country.
Major projects to be undergone by the Lodamese governmentFollowing the successful elections for LCP that fixed the morale of the party after 4774 disastrous elections, the government quickly formed of new specialists, intellectuals and labour leaders to start working on improving the nation's economy and workers' lives. The ministry of agriculture, Daniel Mangold, proposed the following
reforms and projects regarding agriculture and farmers, expected to pass in the Presidium and be signed by the president of the GDR Lodamun, David Lindauer, who concluded the project as innovative, aspiring and achievable. The act will propose the collectivization of the farms, raising the efficiency, productivity and quality of the products via modern equipment and eco-friendly machinery and practices. The Education and Culture ministry is talking of possible reforms into the educational system, while Pessach Okin, ministry of justice declared that under his rule, the justice will be served and that the judiciary will be renewed and democratized, current laws previously passed by PNG are deemed as horrible, barbaric, disgusting and discriminatory. Other projects and reforms are waiting approval.
The main projects currently being worked upon by the officials from Providence are the modernization of the infrastructure (started few
years back and including all sewers, electrical grids, power grids, internet and railways, streets and so on) and the subsidization of the local worker-owned companies, projects to aid the workers' co-ops struggling with the competitive foreign markets. The Lodamese project on improving the infrastructure includes the construction of new airports and buying new planes from Vascania as well, which the Lodamese authorities did with the purchase of additional 10 planes from Vascania and a project of 2 billion LODs to start in 4779 on building a new airports in West Beach and North Vrassa. While these are being proposed, the construction of new highways between the major cities of Lodamun started with the construction of LD-1, the highway to bind the cities of Providence and Orean via a highway formed of 3 driving lanes, featuring top quality asphalt, a tunnel and even a small bridge over a valley. The infrastructure development act gave in for modernization of the electrical power grid which long needed the renovations, as the grid was often forgotten and left to decay. People's complaints over frequent black outs and issues with the cables, in a case snapping and killing a man resulted in immediate action from authorities. The project on the grids is expected to be ended by the next three months, as the workers are doing their best to finish in time. The ministry occupying himself with the Infrastructure called the projects passed by the LCP/SUFL successful, as the ministry is looking forward to improve the sewers, gas pipes as well as the roads, especially roads through modernizing and repairing the old roads found out in the village and town areas, where in some cases, there are roads still of dirt or stones, and not modern asphalt we are all used to.
Meanwhile, the project on subsidizing the home industry had just started, targeting especially the shipping industry, the textile industry and tech companies. Other sectors and branches of the national and local industries are to be financed as well. The economists are praising the reforms as their aiming to make the Lodamese market competitive enough on the global market as well provide the workers managing the companies the resources and the wages they need to stay motivated and productive, as the cabinet is pushing for wage raises to substantially improve the working conditions of the people toiling in the factories and not only. The car industry saw growth as well under this new scheme, although painfully slow, damaged by the years of harsh anti-motorist stances of the feudalists, now disbanded. The workers, under a new survey declared that their more than contented with the new legislation and policies, often stating that the LCP did a very good job and that the workplace democracy made the people working in the companies more engaged with one another and with the work they do, being more opened to be innovative and dedicated to cause, as well with the charities and profit sharing programs pursued by the said union-managed companies that organized strong interest NGOs in helping the local communities.
Textile industry to bloom, opens new factories in EndralonThe textile industry that long emerged in Orean had showed promising growth, expanding to Saint Martin as well, being renowned for the top quality products, clothing and fibers. The success of the weaving factories as well the production of cloth, yarns and clothing attracted foreign investors and national attention, attention given by the new government, which under the new policies of helping the coops formed by workers, took great interest in the growing textile industry, which now expanded it's activity nation wide with factories in all regions of Lodamun (except Kregon), with an ever increasing output of new cloths and yarns, as well professional equipment and machinery in producing natural and synthetic textiles as well of fabrics. The textile industry got itself a name "Workers' Textile", which is producing en masse clothing as well, of renown quality. The new clothing is cheap and often distributed to the poor people as well. The company rarely produces luxurious clothing, being more focused on ensuring that all men have proper clothing.
Following the resound success as well with financial aid from the government, the new company attracted Endralonian investors who had made an agreement over opening new factories in Endralon, with help from the investors and the officials from Hugamest. The new factories, ten at number, will produce all kind of fabrics, based on wool, silk, synthetics etc, aimed at creating the best fabrics and cloth, to be used then for clothing. The company even offered a nice costume for the president of the Directorial Republic as to celebrate the new deal. The company will start, with associations, to work upon opening new centers of production, most of them being located in the Endralonese capital. The new factories are expected to govern themselves on syndicalist principles, each factory forming own distinctive trade union in which all the workers have to be part of and engage with, forming workers' councils to represent the interests of the workers. On top of this, the workers will be ensured high wages as well working and safety conditions, alongside fair taxes on their products. The products in exchange will be sold at a reasonable, low price, often without the profit added. The Endralonese investors are also invited by the Lodamese company to invest in factories that work on profit, as that will result in profit- sharing with the investors, ensuring a win-win situation for both sides.
