Cariglioni to resign?
March 20, 4231
President Farell Cariglioni has spoken on the LNC Congress today, during which Erika Walem received full support of the party as chairman. The words the President spoke and the way he did, makes us feel as if he is preparing his resignation as father of the nation.
"I have known Miss Walem for some time now, and I am sure she will do well as chairman of the party. I would even dare to say that she has the abilities to succeed me as President of this wonderful nation. To be honest, a lot has changed over the last few years. I have always tried to do my job the best possible way, and I have loved the practice of being President. We have had a lot of hard words with the other parties, but also a lot of moments to cherish. Yet, I believe that a new era is coming, it has allready begun. After almost 17 years in office, I wonder if it wouldn't do good to have a young person in charge for once. I was young myself when I was chosen for the Presidency, but when I look at Erika's spirit, she seems determined to fight for what she believes in. She holds the department of Education for some time now, and I must say that, eventhough she had to compromise a lot, she has always done an outstanding job, carried out with all of her heart. Erika, you would make a great President."
Erika Walem still is single, since he has chosen for a political career. She is 37 years old, and is a member of the notorious Walem-clan.

This is nothing but my fault
September 3, 4234

Landslide during the last elections in Lodamun, the second elections in 6 months. LNC lost a massive amount of seats, nearly all in favor of NGPoL. President Cariglioni claims this to be his fault.
Both LNC chairman Walem and President Cariglioni spoke at a post-election rally of their party LNC. President Cariglioni was not amused at all. He stated: "The comments I recently made about me resigning as President of the Republic, together with me openly supporting Mr. Takon as my successor have been a signal to the voters to vote NGPoL. Apparently their candidate has the support of the people, which I respect. I will therefore not resign just yet, but I urge Mr. Takon and his crew to form a new Cabinet as soon as possible. I have erred in a political way, but then again I am glad that the citizens of Lodamun and myself have the same view on things."
Cariglioni will stay in office untill a new President is being installed. He said to do whatever he can to make the change of office happen in the smoothest way possible.
His wife, Minister of Education and chairman of LNC Erika Walem, was furious. She said that it was very odd for one party, which was on occasion claiming LNC to restrict the rights of other parties in our nation, to vanish at one point in time. "I am not saying that SMA has a hand in all of this, but then again I find it disturbing that 120 MPs simply vanished just months after the elections. Taking everything under consideration, I believe this would be an attempt to overthrow the Nationalistic coherence we have known in Lodamun for ages. There only is one group I can think of being responsible for such a treacherous operation: Hosians! We should all be very vigilant in the near future. I would like to know what happened to SMA, and also who is responsible for what happened. I would like to end this rally with my sincere wishes of best luck towards Mr. Takon and his party and the promise that the new Cabinet will receive our full trust and cooperation."

Cariglioni out, Takon in
March 3, 4236

Today President Cariglioni handed over the keys of his office to his successor Mason Takon.
For over 22 years, Farell Cariglioni stood at the rudder of our glorious nation. The Presidium has accepted a proposal for a new Cabinet and new President the day before yesterday. Mr. Takon will now lead the Cabinet and thus the nation. Cariglioni said: "I'm glad to see a person as Mason taking over from me. He will do a very good job, I'm sure. My time in the office has come to an end. I wish the new leaders the best of luck."

Political vacuum in Lodamun?
August 4244

It's back to three parties in the political world of Lodamun. All of the other parties, including some holding office, have decided to abandon federal politics.
SDA, UDHFU and AWU gave up their seats in the Presidium. Also a local party, Purple Party, decided to no longer run for the Presidium. This makes that 124 seats in the Presidium, almost one quarter, is vacant. The reason for the departure of these parties is unknown, but what we do know is that the three remaining parties have been present in Lodamese politics, as well as in the coalition, for some time now. All three parties have accepted a call for early elections and will try to form a new Cabinet as soon as the results of these elections are known.
Erika Walem stated to aim for one third of the seats in the Presidium.

LNC draws ultranationalist card
January 8, 4248

After chairman of the party and current vice-President Erika Walem announced her retirement as leader of LNC, two fractions within the party competed each other for the acquisition of this position. After 3 months of discussions, the party members have finally chosen their future path.

Two candidates for the position of chairman: the ultra-nationalist Zouzou Ndouk and the more democratic Lars Knowles. There were quite some ethical differences throughout the nation in this election. The south clearly supported Ndouk while Andalay openly and almost exclusively supported Knowles. Things were heating up so bad that even former President Cariglioni had to intervene and asked all of the LNC supporters to work together, despite their differences of opinion.
While both propagand unity, there are some essential differences: Knowles seeks unity by working together with the other parties and wants to create understanding through compromise, while Ndouk chooses the card of hardline Nationalism and wishes to proceed only with those who intend to compromise with him.
Before the vote, chairman Walem urged all party members to continue the good work and to preserve the unity within the party, no matter what the outcome would be. The people chose to follow Zouzou Ndouk, granting him 54% of the votes. Knowles received 43%.
Insiders say that Knowles immediately offered to leave the party, but after intervention of Walem he decided to give the new chairman a chance and declared to be willing to 'serve the party and the chairman the best he was able'.
Walem will hand over power over the party next month. She is 54 years old and will stay in office, for now, as vice-President of the Republic.

President Mason Takon to Step Down Following the Upcoming National Elections
February 4252

After 16 years of serving as President of the 2nd Democratic Republic of Lodamun, President Mason Takon has announced that he will be stepping down following the upcoming elections. He said that he will stay long enough to get a cabinet proposal discussed and passed.

"People of Lodamun, I am happy to have served you throughout these years, but I am afraid my term is coming to an end. Following health concerns, I am announcing my resignation as President of the Republic. I will remain in my position until a new cabinet is formed after the upcoming national elections."

The President is starting discussions of the next cabinet with the LNC and is floating the possibility of including the newly formed Freedom Caucus if they get seats in the next elections and agree to be in the coalition. The GNRG were planned to be in the talks, but they are nowhere to be found and their seats vacant in the Presidium.

NGPoL Party Elections of 4253 To Decide Future of the Party
February 4252

The next election of the NGPoL to take place August of next year is set to be a potentially historic one. At least two of the four candidate promise to completely reform the party if they are elected and the fact that the party has been under the same leadership for almost 2 decades may indicate that a change is coming.

Party Deputy Joesph Mideen, grandson of the late NGPoL founder Kalin Mideen, will be running for the Chair once again, representing the core values that the NGPoL had since its founding. He made it to the second round of voting in 4233 and lost to Rain Baxtor, who went on to defeat then-Party Chair Mason Takon. Every election since then has resulted in Mideen winning the second round and losing to Baxtor in the final round, leaving the party being run by Baxtor and Mideen for almost 20 years. This is the longest a party chair has held the position since the founder Kalin Mideen ran the party for 25 years from 4168 to 4193.

Members of the party have been hinting that they want a change of leadership and with the candidates in this upcoming party election promising sweeping changes, such a change will be quite drastic.

Marcy Casel, who was Party Deputy before Mideen, is running again this time around. Her platform is be more strict and frantic than the NGPoL traditionally is. Though her leadership would definitely be a change, it won't be as drastic as the other two candidates, who are promising complete reforms of the party right down to the name. Candidate Justin Kelsey is proposing a shift toward capitalism and skepticism, as well as a name change to the Lodamese Capitalist Movement. Candidate Tex Andrews is going much further, proposing party reform views that are essentially the opposite of NGPoL tradition in every way with the name New Conservative Party of Lodamun.

This election has the potential to be a major turning point and a possible end of the current NGPoL as we know it, but only time will tell whether or not this will come to pass.

Unique in history: Cabinet passes without President
December 2, 4252
Yesterday the Presidium unanimously accepted the new Cabinet proposal, with only two parties taking part. No surprise there, only two parties managed to get seats in the Presidium. The surprise was to be found elsewhere: due to internal struggle, no President was assigned.
This is unseen throughout the history of the second Republic. The situation might seem odd at first but it is the result of a very careful compromise. All started at the NGPoL chairman elections 10 months ago, where Joseph Mideen and Marcy Casel fought out an extreme close last round. Because of this result, the Casel clan refused to accept the result and thus refused to accept Mideen as chairman and candidate for Presidency.
While GNRG decided to drop out of national politics for a while, LNC proposed a new Cabinet. This was to be a coalition with NGPoL. Both parties agreed about this proposal, with which NGPoL could keep the Presidential seat, being the largest fraction in the coalition. After 16 years President Takon had already expressed his wish to resign and retire from politics, which was accepted by the Presidium.
There was one issue here: Mason Takon's resignation had been accepted with the presumption that Joseph Mideen would take over with the vote on the new Cabinet, following on the resignation of the President. Miss Casel on her turn challenged Mr. Mideen prior to the vote. It seemed that an important number of NGPoL MPs saw reason in Casel's challenge, and decided it not right to favor Mideen over Casel without a thorough investigation.
Former President Takon had to intervene. While he had no political power at that time, he still has a lot of influence and remains very respected in the Presidium as in the nation. He declared that, while the system had erred, there was no reason to leave the country without a President because of internal struggle within his own party. He proposed an investigation and a study on the results of the last chairman election and decide on a later moment who would be assigned President of the Republic. In the meanwhile vice-President Ndour would take the Presidential office serving as acting President untill a successor for Takon would be found.
