MIC under military control?
February 6, 4278

Manu Karacz, Minister of Defence, has presented a strategic plan fort he future military of Lodamun. A part of this plan is a massive change within the Maritime Information Center. He and the Minister of Internal Affairs have signed a letter of understanding earlier today.
Colonel Karacz explains: “Since our nation has chosen to act more isolationist on the political scheme and will be very carefull in chosing which nations we will have economic contacts with, we need to sharpen our Homeland Defence System. Up to now, both Internal Affairs and the military were responsible for the protection of our borders by sea. To ease this matter of shared responsibility, we have chosen to transfer the MIC tot he Defence department, but obviously with intensive ties and a clear line of communication towards the Ministry of Internal Affairs.”
This means that military personnel will take over the tasks at the MIC, on land as at sea.
“The MIC fleet lacks everything but expertise. Therefore I have ordered the military staff to investigate the needs for a military coastguard. The Naval Staff already is investigating several options to modernize the fleet. The consortium MIL is working on a design of a modern type of patrolvessel to support MIC. If we decide to build these vessels, there are arrangements with the Ministry of Finance to achieve a massive injection of valuta.”
The Minister of Defence is quite certain these vessels will be ordered pretty soon, since he plans on scrapping an important part of the old naval vessels. Apparently most of the nation’s frigates are in terrible shape and would not be replaced: “These new patrol vessels would be well armed and would, partially, replace the frigates of both fleets. We are entering a new era and the Naval Staff is working on a plan to simplify the Naval Task Forces. One of the options is to drop the main Battle Group, since these battleships are likewise in poor shape and do no longer fit in the plan for the future of our military navy.”

Large investments planned for next decade
July 3, 4278

Minister Karacz has signed an order today with MIL, asking them to build twenty new 240ft patrol vessels to be implemented in MIC and the military navy. An additional contract for 10 more of these ships is being prepared. SSF has started the preparations fort he construction of brand new auxiliary vessels. There currently are few details about these ships, but at least two replenishment vessels and one troop transport ship would be built.
Admiral Groszak dictated a list of ships to be deleted: “All of our frigates built over 32 years ago will be deleted. Within the next few years we will scrap most of our replenishment vessels. Most of our auxiliaries have to be replaced within the period of ten years. Our fleet of destroyers will also be deleted within 5 years. The strategic submarines will have a midlife update and it is yet unknown whether or not these will be replaced in the future. The two remaining battle cruisers will be scrapped and will not be replaced. The mine countermeasures fleet will be updated and the Naval Staff is currently investigating how best to replace these units. In addition, we will add a reconaissance and intelligence group. This group will be allowed to use any vessel available and will also receive drones.”

President Mideen Steps Down As Presidium Accepts Latest Cabinet Proposal
Passes the Presidency to Carolus Brogni of the Lodamese Nationalist Committee
November 3, 4279

After 25 years of serving the country as President, Joesph Mideen announces that he is stepping down through a cabinet proposal proposed in December 4278 calling for new leadership. In this proposal, the President suggested that the Lodamese Nationalist Committee should head the Presidency, Foreign Affairs, and the Finance Ministry. He also suggested that the New Green Party of Lodamun should head the Health/Social Services, Sci/Tech, and Food and Agriculture Ministries. The ministries not mentioned would keep their current parties. Mideen noted that this proposal was made in the nation's best interest.

This proposal passed the Presidium unanimously a couple days ago, bringing new leadership to the 2nd Great Democratic Republic of Lodamun. President Mideen will pass the keys to the office to newly-elected President Carolus Brogni today.

What about Gorkyism?
November 12, 4291

Lex Gorky, the Minister of Education and Culture, has come up with a daring idea. He will be proposing to add a recognized branch to Lodamese Nationalism. His proposal is already being put to practice, but now he would like to make it a denomination of the mother religion.
"Nationalism is about putting the nation in first place and not individualism. Never before have I witnessed such unselfish act as what I will be proposing soon to the Presidium. I have witnessed citizens that have lived their lives to benefit the nation, and as an ultimate sacrifice they chose to die for the benefit of that same nation. My father was a follower of that thought, and decided last month to choose euthanasia with the sole reason he believed he couldn't add anything to what he has meant for his nation. He simply couldn't allow himself to be of any cost. He felt useless, which he wasn't, but he was done giving to the people of his precious state. He has chosen to stop his life and never to become a burden that way. I respect his choice and I wish to make this way of life and way of dying a denomination of Lodamese Nationalism. Not to inspire citizens, but to legally protect those who have chosen this path."

Gorky to take over as Party Representative
January 2, 4296

President Carolus Brogni has announced his resignation as LNC Representative and has declared to step down as President of the Republic after a new Cabinet is formed after the upcoming elections. Lex Gorky, Minister of Education and Culture, has been chosen to take over the role of Party Representative and thus Presidential candidate for LNC.
Lex Gorky is as popular as he is controversial. Brogni is well aware that the appointment of Gorky might create a political landslide in Lodamun, but he is confident that Gorky will do a good job: "Lex has my full support to represent the party and the nation, if the citizens want him to. I would like to thank Mrs. Demuzere and Mr. Gorky for their good job during my Presidency. They have done a great deal to change this nation and actively promote Lodamese Nationalism."
It is currently unsure who will succeed Lex Gorky as Cultural Representative.

'Processing Centres' and LOD 2bn announced in urgent Presidential address

New President Loren Courtenay has today revealed that Lodamun will build what he calls 'processing centres' to handle inbound refugees as a result of Wolfsheim Plague. Civil rights groups are concerned but sources close to the President have made clear that a quarantine period is now non-negotiable. The Lodamun Democratic Party-led government has also proposed a budget amendment to allow LOD 2bn to be contributed to the global search for a cure.

Hidden camps found in the mountains of Kregon Province
Camps appear to be concentration camps for Hosians with secret program to re-educate them into Nationalists
May 13, 4301

It was discovered that there were many Concentration Camps hidden within the mountains of the Lodamese Province of Kregon. It appears that these are used to concentrate Hosians to make sure they don't infiltrate Lodamun, as well as serve as re-education centers to make them Nationalists. An initial investigation that was launched shortly after this discovery revealed that these camps were set up by the previous Internal Affairs Minister Anja Demuzere of the Lodamese Nationalist Committee. The chairman of the New Green Party of Lodamun, Marcus Deneel, appeared to be shocked by this discovery and claims that despite his party being in a government coalition with the LNC at the time, they had no knowledge of these camps. The press is attempting to reach the Lodamese Nationalist Committee for comment.

Lex Gorky: "We did our jobs"
May 18, 4301

LNC Representative Lex Gorky came forward and spoke about the rumours that there would be concentration camps in Kregon. He represented his party and his coworker Anja Demuzere, former Minister of Internal Affairs.
"I would like to state that indeed there have been several gated communities in Lodamun for the last decades, most of them being located in Kregon. These communities were set up to assemble outlaws in order to protect them. With the decision the Presidium took to outlaw any theistic religion, there was need to get people that didn't live up to the law out of the country. Obviously, this wasn't easy and merely impossible. Mrs. Demuzere then decided to set up gated communities, as she had seen from the Kregon Governor, to keep those persons in a well protected environment while they awaited their relocation. Once we noticed that these relocations costed us an enormous amount of money, I came up with the idea of re-educating these individuals and teach them about Nationalism and the benefits it would bring them. An important amount of these individuals has been able to return to their homes after being re-educated and proven to be a true Nationalist."
The reason most of the camps were located in Kregon was double. For starters, the Governor at that time thought likewise about Nationalism and its opposers, but most important there are many places where hardly anyone ever sets foot. These camps could be built far from civilization, where they would bother no one and no one would bother the inhabitants of the communities.
Lex Gorky said: "I was Minister of Education at that time, and it was my duty to interfere in this matter. It was Anja's duty to do something with those infidels, so that they would not be harmed and they would not be able to harm the nation. We have done our jobs, and we have done that with consent of the Presidium, since the Members of Presidium accepted the religious restrictions in our nation. None of us is to blame!"
