Historical moment: Lodamun will be a one party state
NGPoL and LWA form one front
August 4573

Stef Neefs, LWA chairman, has thrown in the towel. He announced today that his party will join NGPoL and both parties will form an alliance with the goal to unite in one strong pro-Lodamun party.
"I have had long talks with Mr. Auronis, and since our parties have so much in common, we have decided to step up as one fraction for the upcoming elections. Both parties have done great things for our nation, and we want to throw out any chance of dispute, while we wish to work together for the nation's sake."

Lodamese Green Coalition officially forms
NGPoL rebrands as it welcomes LWA members after merger
April 9, 4574

As a result of the Lodamese Worker's Assembly merging with the New Green Party of Lodamun, party leadership has decided to rebrand the party to reflect the union. Despite the rebranding, there shouldn't be any major shifts in platform or the vision for the future of Lodamun given both parties had a lot in common anyway. There is to be a cabinet proposal in the days following next year's election, though all current ministers will keep their positions with the former LWA ministers running under the new coalition's banner.

In the foreseeable future, Lodamun seems to still be in good hands with this merger further cementing the good cooperation and leadership that has brought prosperity to the Republic for decades.

Formation of the 3rd Great Democratic Republic assured
Presidum puts proposal to form 3GDR to a vote, certain to pass
December 4574

Earlier in the year, a proposal was made in the Presidium to form the 3rd Great Democratic Republic of Lodamun as the nation continued to prosper. It has been nearly 3 decades since the nation began the transition from the era of the 1st Cooperative Federative Republic and much has been done to repeal and reform from the oppressive regime in power during that era. With the passage of this proposal, this transition will be complete and the nation's name will reflect the great progress Lodamun has made in these transitional years.

The Lodamese Green Coalition, which is currently running the nation under a one-party state due to the NGPoL+LWA merger, is proud to usher in this new era. President Mideen also addressed the nation about this new era and congratulated the unity of the Presidium. He also expressed that though he was proud of the unity, he was a bit uneasy about the one-party rule. He encouraged those that want to see change and/or want to represent those that they feel need more representation to run for office.

The first election since the formation of the 3GDR

Being a one-party state, the Lodamese Green Coalition still have complete control of the Presidium, though there are factions within the party that have differing views. The composition of those of these views affect what bills are actually proposed as this requires a majority of the party to agree on such. These are the compositions of the LGC as of this election.(These will be back to showing the composition of the political parties in the nation once there are other parties, with a separate section for LGC composition)

President Mideen Announces Departure After 12 Years as President
LGC Chairman Lars Auronis takes up mantle of the Presidency
September 4581

3GDR President Oliver Mideen has announced that he will be stepping down after serving the nation for 12 years as President. He has overseen the nation during the last stages of a transitional period from a recovering Republic to another Great Democratic Republic. In his place will be former LGC Chairman Lars Auronis, a politician that has inspired a great amount of confidence from the LGC. Mideen also agrees that Auronis is the man for the job and will make a very good successor to the office.

Former Internal Affairs Minister Justin Harris has been elected to lead the party following Auronis' ascension to the Presidency. Former Police Chief in West Beach Roland Casel has been appointed the new Internal Affairs Minister following Harris' shift in position. The rest of the Cabinet will remain in their positions and this shuffle will also serve as a Vote of Confidence for them. This motion is expected to pass the Presidium easily.

Lodamese President Denounces the Kazulian Democratic Republic
Presidium introduces legislation to impose sanctions and sever ties
September 4597

President Lars Auronis and the Lodamese Government has publically denounced the regime of the Kazulian Democratic Republic(KDR) for their violations of their people's basic human rights and the possible danger facing any remaining foreign citizens in their nation. This comes as Lodamese Government was made aware of such policies/treatment in the KDR and remains strong on their commitment against Fascism.

A piece of legislation introduced in the Presidium this month would formally impose economic sanctions on the KDR, as well as enter a commitment to cut any current and future ties to the KDR as long as their current regime is in power and imposing these such policies. This is expected to pass the Presidium by mid-late next year and would take effect immediately after passage.

Port Golavia: After almost a month of preparation, the Liberal Party has been founded in Lodamun, sparking scorn from the left and interest from the centre in a nation long controlled by a succession of left-wing parties. Many leading businesses and political groups have already declared support, suggesting it is a party worth taking interest in.

The Liberal Party Leader, Edward Clarke, declared that the party’s founding “served as a shock”, to the established Green Parties and “utopian” Feudalists who have for so long led the nation into, “stagnation and economic idiocy”. The party’s program calls for major changes to the Lodamese economy, military and constitution. But are they such a departure from the standard fair? Our political editor, Edward Fisher, interviewed Clarke to find out more.

Fisher: I want to begin by thanking you for attending this interview at such short notice.

Clarke: You’re welcome. And thank you for giving me this opportunity.

Fisher: The creation of your party has so far attracted a great deal of interest among a variety of different groups across the political spectrum from social democrats to libertarians. I think we should therefore start by asking you how your party differs from the established parties, and what you intend to bring to the political scene?

Clarke: For far too long Lodamese politics have been stagnant, with little change in the economic protectionism which has plagued past administrations. The Liberal Party seeks to open Lodamun to trade and investment by improving our economic, financial and political organisations and by implementing policies which enable improvements in employment and living standards.

Fisher: How does your party seek to bring about such changes?

Clarke: Past administrations have focused far more on maintaining the present system than striving for progress. We still have an economic policy and constitution implemented by socialist and even communist governments. We have legislation on the books which is openly hostile to businesses, legislation which limits trade and investment, and which prevents the government from maintaining the rule of law. These policies must change. The Economic and Defense Reform Acts currently being voted on in the Presidium highlight our party’s policy when it comes to the economy and defense.

Fisher: What do you think our nation should focus on economically?

Clarke: Our geopolitical position has a lot of potential for a variety of different roles within a broader economic context. Our location strategically between Artania, Seleya and Dovani provides a great location for commerce as well as a financial centre for transactions across the globe. Our large, educated and Luthorian speaking population gives our people a great economic advantage in the realm of trade, finance and technological innovation. The tertiary and quaternary sectors are key to our party’s view of the future.

Fisher: What constitutional changes does your party wish to make?

Clarke: Federalism is an important component of the Lodamese political model, its maintenance is of high importance. However, many elements of the current model, such as the lack of a Head of State, pose significant barriers to the effective implementation of domestic and foreign policy. As a party we would be pushing for the implementation of a new constitution which modernises the state while also protecting the federal system of our founding fathers.

Fisher: I’d like to conclude with a question on defense. Your party’s current platform appears to be highly focused on ending the part-time nature of the Lodamese Defense Force, as well as removing the role of the paramilitary sector from our defense system. Can you comment on this?

Clarke: The paramilitary system is an important component of the Lodamese culture, and our party does not intend to limit gun ownership or paramilitary membership. However we operate within a dangerous world full of nations with highly skilled, professional fighting forces. Lodamun deserves the most advanced and effective military necessary to fulfil our strategic and economic requirements. Our military currently does not have the technology or training necessary to defend Lodamese interests and ensure peace and prosperity in the long term.

Fisher: Thank you for your time.
