Gronse elected chairman of Lodamese Republicans
Klaus remains as political advisor and deputy in the Chamber
January 8, 4647

Ellington- At the LR headquarters, chairman Klaus announced that he will be replaced by Ulrika Gronse by the end of the month. An election for chairman was held on January 1st. There were two candidates for the position of chairman. Heinrich Klaus didn't participate.
Klaus thanked a lot of people, mostly for the support he received over the years. He took a moment to remind people how LR got off on the political scene. While none of the major objectives were established, LR did in fact make a political statement that still is being heared.
He also wished Ulrika Gronse the best of luck: "Ulrika, you were there at the very beginning. You were there to celebrate our first successes, which we partially owe to you. You were there to witness our first major setback, against all odds, and you stood up with the heart of a lion. I am proud to call you my successor as party chairman. You will do great. You will make Lodamun great again, as it used to be in the past."
Gronse already showed her will to work and to change: "As we want to return to the good old republic our forefathers knew, we decided to set up a new headquarters in Port Golavia, which used to be the capital of a blooming nation. Our culture and our past is what we should cherish. Lodamese Republicans are on the move, and we will succeed."

Green Progressive Party looks to dismantle dictatorial amendments
Bills introduced to abolish laws on current justice system and Hosianism state religion protection
February 18, 4647

Seeing a viable path toward restoring Lodamun Democracy, the Green Progressive Party(GPP) has introduced bills to get rid of laws that they claim "subverts justice in our nation" and "forces citizens to follow state-sanctioned religions". The GPP has long championed freedom of religion and a fair justice system for as long back as their young New Green Party days. They hope that these attempts are successful so they can help restore civil liberties and rights to Lodamun in the future, eyeing the possibility of withdrawing from the regressive treaties with Sekouo in order to make these goals achievable.

Green Progressive Party continues calls in Chamber to hold elections as soon as possible
Failure to form government after Conservative resignations plunges Lodamun in Constitutional Crisis

Despite regularly-scheduled elections taking place later in the year, the Green Progressive Party is calling for elections to be held as soon as possible. This comes after similar calls in recent months by the Conservative Party of Lodamun and the Lodamese Republicians. After the Conservative Party cabinet members resigned from the governing coalition, the Dauxite regime and the opposition alike were scrambling to form a new government. However, there has been no success in such as all of the proposed cabinets have failed to pass the Chamber. Green Progressive Party Leader Cameron Mideen introduced a new call for elections to the Chamber floor with hopes that this time it will pass and a consensus can be reached as soon as possible:
"We have no Prime Minister, the ministries of Sci/Tech, Justice, and Enviro/Tourism have no Minister, and there is no hope of a new government being formed in the current legislature.

While normally-scheduled elections are later this year, the absence of a fully-functioning government is plunging our nation further into chaos every moment we go without a solution. We MUST hold elections as soon as possible to come to a consensus and solve this Constitutional Crisis!"

Only revolution can save Lodamun
November 12, 4652

Worried faces all around at the LR headquarters in Port Golavia. After a debate over the future for Lodamun, that lasted nearly a week, the Lodamese Republicans don't seem to have found any specific and clear solutions for the crisis Lodamun is currently in.
Chairman Gronse announced that she and her party were willing to compromise in order to save what's left of Lodamun, but 'the political landscape currently leaves little room for this': "All we can think of at this time is a revolution, yet that would have to be a peaceful revolution. We need to align with political allies in and outside Lodamun, and persuade our citizens that we can no longer cope with the current legislation. Indoctrination of our citizens and discriminating legislation have caused our party to stall. We have to re-educate our citizens, open their eyes and show them what Lodamun can become."
Ulrika Gronse calls all democratic parties to start communication and cooperation in order to discuss a plan.
The political board of LR has come up with some items. They want to abolish state religion and have expressed the will to eradicate any form of religion in politics: "We are not necessarily against religion, we just don't want religion to decide on legislation. That is up to politicians. Religion is one thing, politics another one. And these two should be kept apart."
The board once again accepted the initial outline of restoring democracy. They also accepted an investment plan to boost the fragile Lodamese economy. The board also unanimously agreed on the position of chairman Gronse. She will keep her position at least untill after the next elections. LR are confident regarding the future.

Gronse presents young team for 4654 elections
december 4, 4653

Ulrika Gronse today presented a new, young team to be eligable for the Chamber. She has chosen young and vivid people, aiming to attract more voters and supporters from the younger segment. This group of people mainly is still in doubt on who to vote for, and it seems that many of these are quite critical towards the current coalition.
LR aims for Golavia. Since Golavia used to host the democratic capital, it is considered to be the commune that could be the cradle of democratic revolution. More and more protest are heared, mainly in the city of Port Golavia. Poverty is very common there, as it is in the rest of the nation, but since that region was the richest one for decades, the contrast is enormous. Gronse: "The economy of Port Golavia and its surroundings is at a very low level, factories have vanished, the beatiful capital of Lodamun has changed beyond reckognition. We need to invest in infrastructure and trade to restore this city."
LR also rallies for investments in Newport Haven, with international contracts to upgrade the facilities of what was once the largest and most modern harbour of Seleya. "If LR is being given the authority by the public, we will largely invest to ameliorate our poor economic situation," Gronse says.

Not enough influence on the public
July 4654

It seems that the plan LR developed to meet with the needs of the public failed. Lodamese Republicans hardly gained any ground and currently is the smallest fraction in the Chamber. Position of Gronse is still undisputed.

With enormous expectations members of LR watched as the results rolled in, but the atmosphere quickly changed. Lodamese Republicans didn't get what they expected. LR spokesman Ruud Horloz reacted: "The main objective was to get about 10 percent of the seats in the Chamber. It is obvious that we failed to do so. The feeling within our party is that we failed to inform the public in the first place. We are very well aware of the fact that Lodamese citizens are still indoctrinated by previous coalitions. Many are afraid of change as well. And we shouldn't forget the job done by the current coalition, for which they have been awarded. The current government has started some sort of reform, but we believe that it simply isn't sufficiant."
LR will continue to rally, and has expressed its faith in party chairman Gronse.

Coming up: vital elections
LR seeks support for Lodamese democracy
May 5, 4657

Politicologist and Deputy in the Chamber Frances Clearvood has called for the democratic parties to unite. He feels the time has come to challenge the institution of Head of State. He realizes that his quest could be a difficult and a long one.
Clearvood: "After consulting the Deputies in the Chamber and after analyzing several variables, we have come to the conclusion that there is sufficient support from the public to openly question the institution of Head of State as it exists now. It will be up to the public to choose whether or not they will support this fraction."
A questioning in the Chamber about the deletion of the Prince-President as Head of State and the installation of a democratic republic had the following results: Three parties openly supported the idea, representing about 29% of the deputies. Three parties openly supported the Head of State, representing 32%. The rest, or the two parties left, abstained in this matter. To Clearvood that means that these parties don't have a clear stance on the issue, and that there would be room for discussing this matter.
A lot will depend on the results of the upcoming elections. LR chairman Gronse already mentioned that her position will be vacant if her party doesn't succeed in getting 10% of the seats. Clearvood supports Gronse and wishes to mobilize as much parties as possible to join this quest.

Gronse out! Whiteker in.
October 5, 4657

A defeating election result caused Ulrika Gronse to resign as LR chairman. She will hold her seat in the Chamber however.
She had a goal for her party: grabbing at least 75 seats in the Chamber and putting her party on the political map. When the results rolled in, it soon became Obvious that LR would not reach it goals. 36 seats in the Chamber were the poor result. What's going on? As Ulrika predicted, she handed in her resignation as party leader a few days later. Today, she presented her successor: Paul Whiteker. He will try to lead LR through difficult times.

The rise and fall of monarchies
Frances Clearvood presents new political book on Lodamun

December 7, 4657

Member of the Chamber Frances Clearvood presented his latest book yesterday in Port Golavia. Some say it is about Losamese monarchy, others say that it is nothing more than a political statement against the current regime.
The first chapter of the book handles about how a certain political party managed to establish a pseudo monarchy in what used to be a vivid democracy. A large deal is about Dracomir Danxus, who gained a lot of support from the public when he witnessed the transition to Prince-President.
The second chapter shows us who these Prince-Presidents were, how they lived, how they reigned.
Chapter three and four mainly discuss the political transition from a somewhat democratic monarchy to the terror of dictatorship.
Finally, Clearvood leaves open the question how long this rudeless dictatorship can last. Eventhough there is a political turn noticeable, the monarchy still is being protected by the stronghold Kregon and the goodwill of some political parties in Lodamun. The same parties that supported the Prince-President in the past, not for the best of the people, but to enrich themselves.
Clearvood stated that he had to write this book, and that he chose to present it to the public with the 125th anniversary of the Prince-Presidency: "125 years is something special, yet I don't hear many festivities. I am not witnessing cheers from the public. Could it be that the monarchy is dying?"

Daro celebrations mark 35 years of restored democratic rule
Grönewald-on-Lindar,
15th of February, 4658

Image
Daro is hosting lavish events to mark 35 years since the restoration of the Co-operative Federative Republic of Lodamun. In February of 4623 Lord Saint-Just, the Marquess of Lindar announced the rebirth of the social and democratic Republic after years of political chaos and decades of tyrannical single party rule.

Standing in the exact spot where His Serene Augustness Dracomir I Dauxus was hastily crowned 126 years ago, His Serene Augustness Dracomir V was not the only one among the country's senior leaders and political figures to not wear the traditional Kregonese formal wear. Prince-President made absolutely no secret of his desire to evoke memories of the Republic’s revolutionary founding fathers like Lord Saint-Just, writers of the assorted Enabling Acts from NAP and former Prince-Presidents, some of whom weren’t native Kregonians, signaling a possible shift in EAPP politics.

His brief speech touched on familiar themes: national unity, „legendary“ years spent underground, on-going struggle, Lodamun's inexorable progress. His Serene Augustness also voiced a wish to finally make an official national holiday out of the yearly celebrated so-called „Constitution Day“ that commemorates establishment of the Second Republic. Then he rode along for a lengthy review of the military parade. He waved occasionally, they replied with shouts of loyalty. Military leaders have said this isn't "muscle flexing" but note that this key moment, this celebration of 35 years of Republican control, is focused overwhelmingly on military might.

The foreign commentators have also mentioned that it’s quite possible that by now there are more living Lodamese who have never known a time without a Prince-President than those that have. This is even more probable because of the long-term decrease in average lifespan and decades-lasting policy of mandated euthanasia for the old and sick.
