Kazulia to lead peacekeeping force in Temania
Kazulian Armed Forces leading peacekeeping force in Temania amidst ceasefire agreement

11th March, 4523.

On the backdrop of the recently brokered ceasefire agreement between opposition and government forces in Temania, the Kazulian Government announced that it would be leading the World Congress peacekeeping initiative in Temania. In accordance with the ceasefire agreement signed between the opposition forces and the government forces in Ntoto, peacekeepers from Kazulia and Lourenne will be dispatched to the nation with support from other nations underneath World Congress mandate. The Office of the Chief of Defence of the Kazulian Armed Forces stated that the intervention was in accordance with international law and had been agreed upon by both sides of the conflict. According to the agreement struck between the parties involved, the warring faction will allow for a humanitarian effort to be launched in the nation to alleviate the stress of local humanitarian agencies in mediating the humanitarian crisis brought about by the conflict. According to statements from the United Developmental Assistance Programme, access humanitarian services including healthcare and utilities by the civilian population have been cut off due to the conflict.

Civilians near the nation's border regions stated that the Kazulian army had entered the nation through New Alduria and spread-far and wide throughout the nation. It has been reported that there is a significant portion of Kazulian peacekeepers near the conflict areas. With their initial entry into Temania from New Alduria, several columns of humanitarian aid vehicles were seen following Kazulian army armoured personnel carriers. Leading the mission, coined Operation Valiant Cross, is Major-General Dagfinn Herre (a former commander within the Kazulian Amphibious Corps). According to Major-General Herre, he had met with the leaders of the various warring factions upon arrival in Temania, reminding them of their obligations to the ceasefire agreement and also informing them that humanitarian operations had been launched. Some criticism has been laid upon the Major-General Herre mainly due to the fact that the amphibious personnel carriers used by the peacekeepers are not the usual vehicles which accompany them on international operations. According to statements the vehicles mainly used in the force consists of the Pansretkjøretøy 70, the KDDS D6, the Pansretbil MK/33 and the Militærbil. Major-General Herre rebuffed these statement saying that the operation was a peacekeeping operation and not an invasion, therefore there was no need for infantry fighting vehicles, 30mm/25mm armoured personnel carriers and main battle tanks.

Kazulia had appealed for specialist from the World Congress Chemical and Biological Weapons Office to be brought in to inspect the presence of biological and chemical weapons in Temania amidst reports of their potential use against civilians. Such a decision is still pending with the World Congress. Lourennais troops are expected to assist in the peacekeeping process under the ceasefire agreement.

Kazulia, Dankuk and Lourenne commence negotiations on trade union
Kazulia, Dankuk and Lourenne commence negotiations on single market economy and trade union for Western Dovani.
Image
Lourennais Chancellor Antonio Oktal arrives in Skalm for pre-union negotiations.
27th January, 4525.

Prime Minister Gert Meldgaard will receive Lourennais Chancellor Antionio Oktal and Dankukin Foreign Minister Chang Sun-Hwa for negotiations on the Western Dovanian Single Market, the Three Mountains Trade Agreement and the Western Dovanian Currency Union. After months of reaching an agreement to improve trade between nations of Western Dovani, the Kazulian, Dankukin and Lourennais Government will now sit amongst each-other to discuss the terms of their economic unification agreements. Kazulia, for centuries has been a strong proponent of regional integration within Dovani having cited to relative success of the Mikokuzin Union which Kazulia was an integral member of, having developed the various programmes which made the union a relative success. Now, seeking the mirror that same success between some of Dovani's largest economies, the Kazulian Government wants to push the sentiment of regional integration from the perspective of economics and partial politics. Having concluded that political integration on the levels of the Artanian Union was not feasible at the time recognising several geopolitical issues, the Kazulian, Dankukin and Lourennais Governments settled for economic cooperation and unity.

During the meeting of the three Dovanian leaders, the adoption/formation of a single market economy would be pushed. A single market is an agreement between several nations which attempts to make trading between members as easy as possible. The concept to be pushed by the Kazulian Government is founded on the belief that trade between members would see a removal of taxes, tariffs and quotas placed on trade goods and services. Currently, taxes and tariffs are imposed on Dankukin, Sekowoan, Talmoria and Hulstrian goods by the Kazulian Government mainly due to the fact that an agreement between Kazulia and the aforementioned nations on the removal of these trade constraints has not been reached. As a result, goods originating from these nations are more expensive and less appealing to the Kazulian market, especially those looking to import goods from these nations. An estimate by the Department of Finance and the Economy states that tariffs and quotas back and forward costs the aforementioned nations and Kazulia around $3 Billion LOD annually. According to a fellow at the Trond Henrichsen Institute for International Affairs, the reason nations impose tariffs on imports is because it protects local production. By placing tariffs on foreign products, makes said goods more expensive than those offered locally, thus encouraging people to purchase from the now cheaper local suppliers.

By forming a single market, there will be virtually no limit to the numbers of goods a member state can sell to another within the market itself. Currently, nations are able to bar the amount of goods entering their nations with the expressed purpose of protecting local production. The single market will also allow for the free movement of people, capital and services and also works to prevent non tariff restrictions. Having different rules and requirements as would be promoted by non tariff restrictions would make international trade harder. Through the formation of standardised rules, trade would be easier as it allows for an even playing field. It would mean that all nations within the single market will have to abide by the same regulations and nations will not be able to get ahead by exploiting workers and having low safety standards. With around 25% of Kazulian exports going to Dovanian nations, the prospects of a single market economy in Western Dovani can be conceptualised and potentially put into actions.

On the proposed Three Mountains Trade Agreement, the Kazulian, Dankukin and Lourennais Governments are expected to negotiate the terms of the agreement. The Three Mountains Trade Agreement as it has been coined will see trade between the three aforementioned nations sky-rocket to massive levels. Projections for trade between the three nations say that if the agreement were to come into fruition, it will see around $300 billion in trade between Kazulia and Dankuk alone. Amidst Indrala's economic stagnation, Kazulia's economy is rapidly rising to the top position. A free trade agreement between Dankuk, Lourenne and Kazulia will see monumental amounts of goods moving between the nations on a scale never seen before in the region. Currently, Lourenne is Kazulia's 5th largest trading partner with around 1 Trillion dollars of goods traded between the two nations from the period 4520 to 4525. Prime Minister Meldgaard stated that he wanted to expand such a relationship to include Dankuk, which is Kazulia's 15th largest trade partner with around $90-100 Billion dollars of goods moving between the nations between the same period.

DoD redirects investment into strategic airlift capabilities
Amidst logistical concerns, DoD redirects investment into armed forces strategic airlift capabilities.

Kazulian Air-Force set to re-organise air mobility squadrons for expeditionary role in preparation for expeditionary force projection.
11th August, 4525.

The Department of Defence, after decades of declining investment and procurement, has decided to redirect investment towards the maintenance and re-organisation of the Kazulian Air Force's airlift and mobility squadrons. An organised and efficient airlift and mobility capability is extremely important to a nation's expeditionary capabilities as it enables it to conduct sustained operations. It is no secret to the international community that Kazulia has had some issues with its logistical supply train, mainly its ability to respond on a massive basis and its ability to support Kazulia's allies. A report by the Kazulian Army Logistics Corps highlighted the fact that Kazulia did not have enough strategic airlift aircraft to sustain its expeditionary efforts and Kazulia's allies simultaneously. The Army Wartime College stated that the Kazulian Armed Forces had to ensure its edge in rapid mobility. Rapid global mobility is the timely deployment, employment, sustainment, augmentation, and redeployment of military forces and capabilities across the ROMO. It provides joint military forces the capability to move from place to place while retaining the ability to fulfil their primary mission. Rapid Global Mobility is essential to virtually every military operation, allowing forces to reach foreign or domestic destinations quickly, thus seizing the initiative through speed and surprise

The Kazulian Armed Forces has, since its initial organisation, has placed a heavy emphasis on rapid mobilisation and deployment of forces within various theatres. Currently, the Air Force possess x30 HC-17 tactical airlift aircraft and x50 HC-130 transport aircraft. These two variants form the backbone of Kazulia's airlift and mobility capabilities. Director of the Defence Material Agency, Lt. General Tomas Carstensen stated that for Kazulia to be able to effectively sustain combat on a theatre outside of the Northern Hemisphere, the Air-Force would be need more transport aircraft and refuelling aircraft. Lt. General Cartensen cited the fact that a lot of Kazulia's allies in their international operations are supported by Kazulian transport and refuelling aircraft. Kazulia's fleet of AV-177 aerial refuelling tankers patrol the skies of Northern Hemisphere provide an active refuelling train for friendly aircraft operating in the area. However, the Army Wartime College stated that in the event of a potential global conflict, if Kazulia were to support its own operations alongside its allies, it will need to dramatically expand its airlift and mobility fleet, citing the fact that current numbers are already stressed.

The Department of Defence announced the "Strategic Airlift and Mobility Procurement Programme (SAMPP)" as a means of garnering competition for the construction of around an additional 120 strategic airlift aircraft and 50 aerial refuelling aircraft for the Kazulian Air-Force over a 10-25 year period. Chief of Defence of the Kazulian Armed Forces, Admiral Önde Heidenstam stated that under the next century, the Kazulian Armed Forces will be a major organisation of its forces and the reorientation of its combat capabilities towards multi-role formations, this comes as the Department of Defence is preparing the Armed Forces in anticipation for a potential global conflict.

Asvald Gruppen and EDD launches joint venture into IFV

The Hygenhund IFV, the proposed future IFV of the Kazulian and Lourennais Armed Forces.
11th August, 4525.

Asvald Gruppen and Enterprise des Défenseurs (EDD) have signed a cooperative agreement to construct an infantry fighting vehicle which will be integrated into the battle-formations of the Kazulian Armed Forces and the Lourennais Armed Forces. The agreement comes amidst Asvald Gruppen's proposed Hygenhund Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) for the Kazulian Armed Forces. The Lourennais Government, which had expressed interest in the project, allowed for Enterprise des Défenseurs to construct the IFV alongside Asvald Gruppen as a means of obtaining rights and experience from the project. The Kazulian Armed Forces had expressed interest in around 200 units of the produced Hygenhund IFV, which it intends on integrating into its Dovanian and expeditionary formations. The Department of Defence has been searching for a vehicle capable of operating in Dovani's battlegrounds. Kazulia's involvement in various conflicts in Dovani had enabled it to garner experience and lessons on effective combat in woodland and tropical areas. Specific to Dovani's battlefields, high mobility operations are the most expected of operations to be carried out. Large tank engagements in Dovani are extremely rare, the most common combat involves forces which are widely dispersed and lightly armed. Armoured vehicles which the Kazulian Armed Forces will deploy in the Dovanian theatre possess V-shaped hulls in anticipation for mines.

Under the agreement between the two companies, Enterprise des Défenseurs will construct the majority of the units whilst Asvald Gruppen will work towards enhancing the vehicle's combat systems beyond the proposed variants. The Hygenhund has an over-pressure system to maintain constant over-pressure in the armoured troop compartment to protect it against chemical, biological and radio-logical threats. The vehicle is built with Level 4 armour protection, giving it defence against 14.5×114mm armour-piercing rounds, 155mm artillery shell splinters, and 10 kg (22 lb) mine blasts. Electronic defences on the IFV include the Viserby Systems Port active jamming device to counter IEDs, missile warning alert systems, an active blocking system, and a roof-mounted gunfire locator. The Hygenhund's primary weapon, mounted in a two-man turret, is the Kimberly International cannon firing 40mm ammunition. Two spike anti-tank guided missiles are fitted to the turret launcher.

Gasstrien and KNOC discuss cooperation in global oil market
Gasstrien and Kafuri National Oil Company discuss strategic cooperation in global oil market.
Image
The Blue Wave Oil platform off the coast of Ntoto.
11th August, 4525.

Chairman of Gasstrien, Gideon Reid is currently in talks with the Chairman of the Kafuri National Oil Company, Rafeeq al-Kazemi on the formation of a oil-cartel set to dismantle the dominance of previous formations. According to research from the Central Statistical Office, petroleum from Kazulia and Kafuristan accounts for around [Insert figure] of global production, with the former nation being the account for around 15% of global oil consumption. It is petroleum and natural gas dependent economies like Kazulia's and Kafuristan's is what are forcing these nations towards closer cooperation. Global oil prices have experienced major and quite dangerous fluctuations in the past decade with only a handful of the world's major oil companies moving to curb the clout of these fluctuations, Chairman of Gasstrien, Gideon Reid stated that it was time for like minded companies to work together on controlling the movement of said prices in prevention of the total collapse of oil prices. The Chairman notes the valiant efforts of Neftkomp, who has for centuries reduced its production of oil and natural gas in an attempt to mitigate the fluctuations in the oil prices of the Northern Hemisphere.

Kafuristan and Kazulia are the two largest producers of oil and natural gas, with the former extracting the majority of its resources within its own shelf and the latter extracting the majority of its resources from its own shelf and fields across the world. The petroleum cartel being upheld by nations such as Valruzia and others is at risk of being outright dismantled. Kazulia is a leader in renewable energy solutions. Currently, renewable energy makes up around 75% of Kazulia's power generation pie, with minor involvement from coal and natural gas, although the government is actively making moves to distance the nation from both resources. Kafuristan is without a doubt, the world's largest producers of oil, natural gas and petrochemicals. According to the National Geographic Research Institute, Kafuristan's oil has a high sulphur content as a result of this, whilst it refines its petroleum, it also extracts and refines sulphur alongside it. Whilst Gasstrien is a considerable player in this area, the oil being extracted from the northern hemispheric shelves have little to no sulphur content. Thus, Kafuri oil has a slightly richer quality than Northern Hemispheric oil.

Chairman Reid stated that the formation of a prices management group between nations like Kazulia and Kafuristan would allow for better control of oil and natural gas prices as the nations could now discuss and negotiate the schismatics behind either increasing or reducing oil and natural gas production. The global markets are still recovering from the large flow of cheap oil from Dovanian nations and Neftkomp's emergency "action plan." Reid warned other oil and natural gas producing companies that by flooding the markets with cheap oil will only damage their nation's economies as he cited the fact that Gasstrien had prepared for future fluctuations. Currently producers can be profitable around $50 a barrel, with Gasstrien being capable of profiting with even lower prices. He stated that whilst companies may believe they are doing Gasstrien and KNOC harm oil will reach a plateau before the price ceases to fall and starts rising again.

OOC: In fact, this is essential because You post an article aimed against UPES... at the same time forgetting that Your own country is a member of this "cartel"... I did not want to "troll" but simply point out a fact. And I have every right to post OOC messages posting out an inconsistency in RP. which this surely is.

OOC: To suggest you have a "right" to use a OOC conversation in a IC newspaper article to post "inconsistency" in someones RP is false. You either discuss it with the player in question or adress your concerns to moderation. Do not use a IC article to adress OOC issues. thank you

Heidenstam discusses cooperation and peace with Vanuku
Chief of Defence discusses mutual cooperation and deconfliction with Vanukean Counterpart
Image
Chief of Defence of the Kazulian Armed Forces, Admiral Önde Heidenstam.
22nd December, 4525.

Chief of Defence of the Kazulian Armed Forces is set to meet with his Vanukean Counterpart, Grand Admiral Grzkai Anzlék in Wiel to discuss cooperation, deconfliction in Kalistan and other matters concerning the two great powers. It will be the first time a high-ranking Kazulian military official were to discuss anything with a high-ranking member of the Vanukean Armed Forces. According to statements from the Office of the Chief of Defence, will seek to deepen cooperation between Kazulia and Vanuku and bolster programs and policies to maintain the free and independent Majatran Ocean. The outreach to Vanuku by the Kazulian Chief of Defence is the outgrowth of the Kazulian Government's Mandate of Tranquillity. Officials from the Office of the Chief of Defence talked about “operationalising” the areas of convergence between the two nations, with the current topic being defence and cooperation. Geopolitical analysts have speculated the gradual development of a rift between Vanuku and Kazulia over various issues including the situation in Kalistan and the Majatran Sea. It is thus speculated that these concerns will most likely be addressed in Admiral Heidenstam's meeting with Grand Admiral Anzlék.

Admiral Heidenstam stated that the Kazulian Armed Forces was committed to ensure peace and security within all corners of the globe. He cited the instability in Kalistan and the involvement of various nations as dangerous. He warned of the potential for military miscalculations if nations do not make the active effort to cooperate and coordinate with each-other. In recognising that various nations had separate objectives as it pertained to the situation, the Admiral urged for coordination and cooperation, seeing that dialogue as he said sarcastically: "Dialogue was a dying method." Recent announcements of Lourenne's involvement in the situation complicates the situation even further. The Admiral stated that the Kazulian Navy had dispatched maritime surveillance aircraft and Airborne early warning and control aircraft to form a medium for communication between the various forces converging on the area. It has also been reported that the GAMS-2 satellite had been deployed over the region however these sentiments have not been confirmed by either the Department of Defence and the Chief of Defence.

The Kazulian Army Missile Defence Command announced that it would launch an additional 10 military satellites for the purposes of geospatial intelligence and communications. According to Lt. General Fredrik Grendahl, Commander of the Kazulian Army Missile Defence Command, the Lister NBG-596 satellite had become the work horse of the geospatial and earth-observation community. Lt.General Grendahl stated that whilst took around 90 minutes for the Lister NBG-596 to orbit the earth, he stated that the Lister NBG-596 was one of two geospatial intelligence satellites orbiting the planet. With the Kazulian Armed Forces making active attempts to enhance its intelligence capabilities beyond the current spectrum (although it maintains a global edge).

Kazulian troops conduct jungle warfare exercise in Lourenne
Kazulian Paratroopers conduct jungle warfare exercise in eastern-Lourenne with Lourennais Army.
22nd March, 4526.

Kazulian Paratroopers finished wading across a stream in a rainforest in eastern Lourenne alongside the Lourrenais Army. The course is part of a program to train soldiers for exercises and potential combat on terrain that looks similar to the terrain of the Dovanian nations. Major-General Christer Wollum, Commander of Kazulian Airborne Expeditionary Forces stated that the Army had launched the course amidst concerns that although the Kazulian Army could fight in desert, woodland, arctic and urban areas, its experience in jungle warfare is "substandard" compared to its experience in fighting in the aforementioned terrains. Kazulia's Armed Forces is usually the first foreign force to intervene in any situation developing in Dovani, being the single's largest military power. Its experiences in various conflicts in the region have crafted and evolved the way the nation fights wars. During the exercise several complications had been identified by the Paratroopers which the Defence Material Agency is currently working to mitigate. The first of such issues is the uniform. Kazulia's standard use camouflage, the M109 Battle Union, stood out among the trees and the fabric took too long to dry. The camouflage is suited for the woodland forests of Kazulia and immediate environs.

The exercise also found inconsistencies in unit equipment. According to Sgt. Roald Norgaard, usually soldiers frequently strapped gear on their chests so it's accessible while riding vehicles, however it had become increasingly clear to the soldiers that their gear would have to be carried on their sides in the jungle so it won't get caught on roots and vines while they're manoeuvring on the forest ground. Inter-divisional communications between the various formations within the jungle was surprisingly clear and uninterrupted for the most part. This is due to the advanced communications array fielded by the Army. The Paratroopers had been testing the Kazulian Army's new Integrated Combat Suit (ICS), which allowed for increased amounts of technology to be placed into the hands of the ordinary soldier thus allowing for increased combat effectiveness. The exercise had proven extremely useful for the armed forces' equipment. The Army Engineer Corps, tested prototypes for its M67 Huldra tree crusher.

The exercise had stressed the importance of tactics and strategy. The Kazulian Army had maintained its combat effectiveness and global edge in fighting conflicts through constantly evolving its strategies. Brigadier Johannes Hemmingsen stated that he wanted to form a Jungle Warfare College in Eastern Lourenne and Ntoto. He stated that with the formation of a Jungle Warfare College, armies from across the world could garner experience from nations who primarily operate in the environment. In speaking with Brigadier Hemmingsen's partner, Colonel Malamin Kabba of the Ntotan Defence Forces stated that he welcomed the idea, citing the fact that the Ntotan Defence Forces primarily operate in the jungle environment, such enabling them to garner various skills and ability which many nations can learn.
